After multiple (and all delicious) trips to Brew Lab, I'm finally getting around to sharing how great a spot this is. And more on the beer, which is also great, in a minute. This microbrewery and home brewing service is very accessible, for walkers, bikers, families, groups or just to hang out by yourself. In nice weather the garage doors get thrown open and the place has a cool vibe to it. For first timers, you've got to try a flight so you can sample the delights. On this trip they had enough new brews I went with a flight myself. The UpUpDownDownLeftRightLeftRightIBAStart is an American Amber and very tasty! Also great were the Mad Science, a just brown ale and the Triticum, their wheat beer. My wife tried the in store made hard seltzer and really liked the lemon lime and mango version. they also do a nice job on their craft cocktails. On Sundays they do an all-day happy hour, with both drink and food specials. Speaking of which, while we were just stopping in for a cold one, we always enjoy their Bavarian Pretzel Bites and their Hummus and cheese plate. Both are huge and great to pair with their beers! 4th 'restaurant week' dining experience. Brew Lab on Marty is conveniently located with plenty of parking. Started with pretzel bites & chips for which queso was served. Pretzel bites were awesome and chips were fresh. Ordered the Baja wrap & Gourmet BLT - Wrap was stuffed with pork and BLT contained generous amount of bacon. Great deal for $15 per plate. Ok, so choosing St. Patrick's day to try a bar/pub for the first time -with a large group- probably wasn't the smartest, but we were celebrating a work event. We were able to call ahead earlier in the day to reserve a table, which was nice. I was the first one there, and the place was decently crowded with more people coming in by the moment. I got there at 6 and the sign said seat yourself so I'm guessing if any of the people currently there were staking early spots for the night, the people coming in after would be out of luck. I found our reserved table, which was in the "grain room" separate from the rest of the bar. Its a decent set up, but you couldn't really hear the music from the main room and they didn't turn the TV on for us until like 10 minutes before we left. I also slightly felt like we were an afterthought for our waiter, but once again chalking that up to the holiday. I ordered a cocktail off their menu, the pink panther, which was a deliciously refreshing take on a vodka cranberry, made with raspberry vodka and the addition of lemonade. I loved it. To eat I ordered the smothered Bacon fries. They were decadent. They come covered in cheese sauce, topped with bacon, pico de Gallo, crumbled queso fresco, and a Thai chili sauce that hits you with a burst of sweetness. I scraped that plate clean. I also tried a couple bites of appetizers ordered by others. The Bavarian pretzels were crispy and perfectly salty, if a tad bit greasy. The jalapeno cheese curds were my favorite. Lightly crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and the perfect amount of spice. I would definitely like to come back and give this place another shot on a more regular night. read more

We decided to give them one more chance at creating a positive experience for our family brewing day. As it turned out, Gary did a fantastic job of taking care of our family. There was a misunderstanding as soon as we arrived, but he addressed it and came up with a solution that worked. He made the brewing experience informative, relaxing and fun for the whole group. When we returned to bottle our beers, Gary was as helpful and organized as before which was appreciated. Benton was very personable and attentive as our server during our time we bottled. My friend and I came during brunch time on a Sunday; wasn't busy at all, as the Chiefs game wasn't playing until the afternoon. They have rotating selections and offer reasonably priced half-pints, which I wholeheartedly appreciate since I'm not a big beer drinker. I really enjoyed the Tinta Davila Mexican Stout; it had hints of cinnamon and vanilla, but still brought a strong stout flavor. The food was alright; their nachos tasted more like a salad with chips - not bad, but confusing to the palate. The sweet potato fries were good, but adding either sugar or a sugar-based dip to them would have elevated their flavor. I'd visit here again though, but would order another dish. read more

Chips were perfectly cooked, clearly made in house, seasoned well, and I love a good white queso. I had the 3 street tacos: fish, pork and tofrito. All were good, especially the pork. They have open tables. Seat yourself. And they have a little area with board games and a big connect 4 game. Service was very casual, but it was good. If we needed something, he was pretty quick to get to us. My friend ordered a KC pills (KC bier co). I ordered a brew lab pale ale and my other friend ordered a brew lab Kolsch. I was pleasantly surprised. I also sampled some other ones and it was hard to go wrong. I am surprised they don't get more recognition. We ordered food too. I got a dtop burger. Friend ordered a BLT and my other friend ordered a pulled pork sandwich. I tried a bit of everything and it was all tasted good. We try a different restaurant every week, and this week, we chose the Brew Lab. I really loved this place. The service was great. They had a great selection of beer, and we really enjoyed the food we ordered. So much so that i want to go back so I can try more things on the menu. I got the philly cheese steak and loved it. Now i want to try one of their big burgers. I was surprised how big the space was since it didn't look that big from the outside. Came here with a friend for trivia night. The food and drinks were awesome, and trivia was a blast. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with onion rings. Only downside was the service. Our server took ages to greet us, and then even longer to come back and take our orders. Once the food came out, she never checked back in. Management probably needs to staff more on busier nights like that, so the whole floor is covered. Next time we come in, we'll probably sit at the bar. read more

The wrap was warm and delicious, with a good portion of flavorful pulled pork, while the generous portion of fries was tasty, with a crunchy exterior and a meaty filling. I liked the clean and nice brewery-themed dining area, which featured a nice bar area. The service was not especially cheerful, but it was attentive. I liked the lettuce on them as well as the sauce they drizzled on top and I'm pretty sure I ate more than my half. . The place started to get busy towards the end of my stay. Atmosphere is festive and low key, big open space and excellent service. She was very patient as we kept visiting and were slow to look at the food menu. We popped in here after a long morning of travel from PHX - KC with two tiny humans. That's enough to need a beer, or 5! We were greeted with a big smile and had a really lovely experience! It was very quiet for a Wednesday at lunchtime, but I think happy hour, evenings, and weekends are their jam. This spot is not only a restaurant and brewery, but they have a store attached that sells supplies to make your own beer, and you can even take classes and make beer right there! How cool is that? I had their corned beef sandwich lunch special with tasty fries and a refreshing wheat beer. My husband had a beer sampler and a BBQ pulled pork sandwich... he enjoyed each beer, and the sandwich! Our toddler scarfed his grilled cheese and fries. The food was delicious, they were so nice to our kiddos (crayons/color pages, too!) and we would definitely recommend this spot.
