I first visited here a couple years ago, and wanted to re-visit for a Saturday brunch around 11am. Walking by, I see a farmer's market they sponsor and a jazz band playing live music right outside the entrance! The vibes were immaculate!! Inside, the shop was poppin. During my visit, so many people came by so I feel like it is a well-loved place! Overall, this is a very vibrant and energetic area. It can be loud but I personally had no problem with it. They have a wall of booths with outlets, which is perfect if you are a laptop user. I personally had difficulty connecting to wifi, just a heads up. The staff was super nice, even with how busy they were. FOOD ORDERD: - vietnamese: this is 4 shots of espresso with condensed milk. If you want that caffeine buzz, get this!! I was seriously buzzing after I drank it. I asked the cashier if it was really sweet, and she said yes, so I asked to get it half sweet and that was the perfect amount of sweetness. I was super impressed with this drink :) - caprese turkey pesto panini: this was a yummy sandwich! It looks small but ended up being perfect for a brunch. Comes with chips on the side which are kinda basic. I do enjoy how many food options they have! Its a perfect one-stop cafe read more

Love the cozy environment and the delicious desserts--especially the pumpkin scone, it's a must-try. The only downside is that the last couple of times my iced coffee has come out a bit too milky and lacking flavor. Could be just bad luck, and I'm not the type to ask for a remake. Hoping for a little more consistency moving forward because I really do enjoy this spot. read more

I just moved down the street from this place. They have a good variety of coffee drinks/syrups and those have always been really good. I keep trying different ones with the raspberry white mocha being my favorite. By now I've had a good amount of time to sample a lot of the food. I usually order online and then stop in and pick it up which helps if there happens to be a line. I did eat in one time when there was a comedy show. The acai bowl is awesome! They have a breakfast sandwich with egg and bacon that is good and the bitchin avocado toast is my favorite ! The bacon breakfast burrito I would not order again because I'm not sure if they just sprinkled bacon seasoning in there as it was mostly just potato and I couldn't really even see any bacon. The flatbread pepperoni pizza was not great. Overall, this is a pretty cool spot to have in the neighborhood and I continue to go weekly. read more

Burritos are a little pricey but well worth it. The ingredients are quality and if you dine in, they serve it on a plate with chips. Vanilla latte also delicious. Atmosphere is great, staff is super friendly and welcoming. Definitely found my new go to coffee shop! read more

Brew Coffee Spot is the place to be when you're craving something unique in a cafe Atmosphere that screams "welcome to our home." The menu boasts an impressive amount of uniquely flavored lattes and coffees, with a seasonal rotating menu that is sure to Delight no matter what time of year it may be. There's a lot of seating, but be warned that it fills up very fast because this is definitely one of the more popular coffee shops in La Mesa. Also something worth noting, for folks who get a little sick of whole milk being in everything, this cute coffee shop has a ton of alternative milk options, including some I've never even heard of before! Seriously, pistachio milk? How do you milk a pistachio?! I can't knock on it too hard, because these alternative milks are absolutely delicious and can change the entire consistency and flavor of a drink in really interesting and delightful ways. They've also got a whole bunch of yummy sandwiches, salads, and sweet treats on their menu, and many of them include the gluten-free and dairy-free options for folks with special diets. They also host community events here, like, comedy nights and even a big Street Fair kind of thing. It's a lot of fun and there always seems to be something awesome Happening Here. If you're on the lookout for something new or someplace cozy, then look no further than the Brew Coffee spot. You won't be disappointed! read more

I come here twice every week. Due to dietary restrictions, I have been ordering a Sugar-Free caramel macchiato recently. I specifically asked the barista to confirm they were able to make this, and she said yes. But when I placed my usual order today, a different barista informed me that they are unable to make this drink sugar free. Which means that the previous baristas served me a drink containing sugar, without my knowledge! Thankfully it didn't cause me any major issues, but it's scary to think that someone could be served an ingredient they're avoiding, without their knowledge. read more

Located in an outdated mall in La Mesa on Lake Murray Blvd., thou you find inside this hopping coffee shop with a. Variety of drinks and food. Tread lightly coming here as I found some factors that made me frown. We came to do work on Friday and the interior was full, so we sat outside for an hour until tables opened up inside. It's not free wifi, when you buy an item save your receipt as the passcode is there. Had hot water and the hot water was served in a Dirty Cup with flakes of ground coffee swimming. Pls pay attention to the food and drinks you serve your customers. The Açaí bowl was Delicious filled with dried shaved coconut and variety of berries, nice presentation. If you come here to study or work. Pls bring noise canceling headphones to focus. The interior is dim, so pay attention to the tables. It's odd when people use your tables to eat, it needs to be cleaned after. Unfortunately, we had to clean our large table filled with food particles and crumbs. The cleanliness can improve. It's a loud cafe because it's cement floors and nothing to absorb the sound, cutely decorated. I'd give it a 5 star for cleanliness of dishes and tables - not the case. Having staff come check the tables cleanliness is a plus. read more

First time here? The coffee was not what I ordered. I didn't like the taste and too milky.:-((a splash, not mucho!) The toast was ok, I think it's a bit expensive for what you get. read more

Service is great, I like this place so much ambiance is great food is tasty thank you

Really enjoyed this place! The staff was friendly and helpful. The bagels were delicious- especially the jalapeño cheddar. The blended dirty chai was delicious! Plenty of seating and parking. Enjoyed the low music playing in the background. read more

Great service and ambiance. People are friendly. Plenty of seating. Also board games available to play!

Yes pricey, but what coffee shop isn't? They have a variety of drinks and food. I'm glad they gave me an option of plain bagel or jalapeño cheese bagel for my smoked salmon. So flavorful! They have indoor and outdoor seating which means you can bring your fur baby! They even have free dog treats! read more

Cute place and the coffee is actually good. My only issue is that everyone who works there looks absolutely miserable. I don't know if they all heard bad news this morning or what, but damn. I did not feel welcome at all. 11:30 9/24/24 read more

On a mission to find the best local coffee shops and Brew Coffee is definitely a standout! Came in and got a Vietnamese Iced Coffee - not gonna lie, a little nervous I typically only get these from Asian coffee spots but oh my God whatever espresso they use is delicious! Had to stop myself from chugging my drink and really slow down and enjoy it lol. Tried out their Vegan Chai Scone and I almost ate the whole thing while waiting for my drink it made no sense why it was that good My drink and scone were so good that I want to come back and try everything on the menu. Inside is very spacious, was steadily busy throughout but they've definitely cultivated a community there. Families, college students, folks just getting together, etc. and they have a bunch of little events they host such as an Open Mic Night. Can't wait to be back! read more

This is the third time we have visited, we only came because I was given a gift card. The first two times were a few years ago. We both got "blended" drinks, they were warm and normal liquid consistency not a blended or icey consistency at any other coffee place. We did get extra shit but even with that it was weak. The coffee it's self is very twiggy in flavor, which my partner usually loves where as I don't. Neither of us enjoyed our drinks. And a lot more expensive even compared to other small coffee shops. Two drinks and two macaroons and we spent around $26 bucks in the end. We did get two of the macaroons, bubble gum and birthday cake. The bubble gum is extremely bubble gum tasting which if you have a texture issue it does mess with you while you eat it and is very sweet. The birthday cake tasted great if it was called birthday cake batter, it would be spot on labeled as a battery flavor. read more

I love non chain coffee shops and have been on the hunt for "my place" since moving back to SD in October. I went to Brew Coffee Spot last weekend and it's exactly the vibe I'm looking for. Staff was kind and made a great latte. Upside, it's a 3 minute from my place, so score! read more

It's rare that I give a 5 star review. But this place certainly deserves it . I came in frustrated because this was actually my Plan B. I was going to a friend's house for a Karaoke Party which was canceled at the last minute. I knew my friend Patrick Gratten was singing here and I had to decline his invitation due to my prior engagement. Life has its twists and turns and I ended up getting to go to Brew Coffee Spot. I'm glad I did. I fully expect to pay about $8.00 for a large Rasberry White Mocha with the bidenomics raging rampantly based on pre biden prices of about 5 bucks. (Which was hard on me to do remembering coffee being about a quarter a cup in my youth) I found Quincy and Kennedy to be friendly and helpful. I described what I wanted to him and he told me it was called Raspberry White Mocha. I was having a senior moment and for the life of me couldn't think of what it was called. Kennedy brought it out to me. She also helped get my perks points. The coffee was delicious. I really enjoyed it. I will definitely return on nights they have live entertainment. I highly reccomend this spot. read more

"I love this one coffee shop I always go to!" "There's this one coffee shop that I love studying at." "I'll tell you where I love going for get togethers and coffee." These are just a few quotes that I've been hearing ever since I got out of high school, which is approximately 13 years ago. But those quotes have increased over the last 5 years. I live in one of the biggest cities in the U.S. Where there are an abundance of breweries and coffee shops. Yet I've gone to so many and none of them really felt like, "Yeah, THIS is my spot." Until now that is. I've been to this place roughly 5-6 times and it is by far my favorite place to go. To drink coffee, eat food but most importantly to study. I have a hard time focusing on studying in the comfort of my home so I have to be out to study and focus. Most coffee shops are extremely crowded with people in a very small space. Also many of them don't have a lot of options, are located in areas where there are a lot of people, North Park, Mission Valley, Down Town to mention a few. To top off all that, pretty much no where to park. So yeah, the idea of finding "MY COFFEE SHOP" just seemed unrealistic for me. This place is located in the middle of no where. No, not Ramona middle of no where, just not a very busy part of La Mesa. The major neighboring stores are Good Will, Big Lots and Ross across the street. Not only that but there will always be parking. Although this coffee shop does share their parking lot with the other stores, the stores don't get to many customers and the lot is huge. Inside, there is PLENTY of places to sit and the tables and chairs aren't all crammed together. Not only is there plenty of places to sit huge crowds inside but they have a really good decent size patio full of tables for huge groups in case you prefer fresh air. They have such a huge variety of food and drinks here that you will be overwhelmed, but in a good way. I've tried something different every time. Tea, Coffee, food, you name it. Everyone that comes here always seem extremely happy. Not only the customers but the staff is extremely relaxed and friendly with exceedingly good customer service. I have yet to come across an un-happy or rude worker. Which for me, is outstanding. I'm a supervisor at a retail place and having been performing the top when it comes to customer service. Something that is unappreciated in the retail world. Which is why many people don't have good customer service. To be treated poorly for not that great of pay. Can't blame them. But here, the workers are lovely and do not leave you with a sour taste in your mouth. So thank you to everyone here for making me feel welcomed and comfortable. I found MY coffee shop. This is definitely a place worth visiting. read more

Great coffee options ! Very spacious inside and outside to hang out or study/work. Not the prettiest but solid coffee shop

Pretty upset , sat down got all my food and my coffee and started on my work and I think it was the owner that told me dogs weren't allowed and then proceeded to ask me how long I thought I was going to be? Like I just sat down with all of my food I think I'd like to eat it??? it is fine I get that they don't allow dogs, but if I could of been told that maybe as I was ordering or before I got everything and got comfy that would of been great . I entered through the door that had absolutely no sign on it and I've been there plenty of times and brought my dog and there's been no problem and nobody has ever told me anything ...My dog is also very well-behaved. He just lays there the whole entire time. I've actually never once been told at a coffee shop that I couldn't have him so I will not be back to brew ever again which is such a shame. The owner said "I don't even bring my own dogs here " , okay cool well my dog is very well behaved I bring him everywhere , didn't know we were comparing ? It honestly just really upset me and rubbed me the wrong way.... Anyways ...Highly recommend public square coffee house which is where I'm headed now , they will actually let you finish your food and get work done with a dog by your side , very dog friendly and staff is amazing . This will be my first bad review I've given on yelp and will never step fooot in brew again! read more

Brew Coffee Spot - Here's how my sweet boy acts at coffee shops ! Just sleeps !! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - La Mesa, California

I actually love the ambiance of this shop. The coffee is good and the menu is extensive. What drives me nuts is the way they configure their internet. You have to purchase something to get a code for the internet which I have zero problem with but then you are dropped every two hours and have to go back up and buy something. Again, no problem to pay for internet but some option to pay for a longer stint on the internet is imperative for people who want to work or study for more than a few hours. I would like to see this place come up with an alternative that fairly compensated them for someone taking up space but also allowed people to put their heads down and focus for more than two hours. read more

Joe! Joe! You are getting out of control. You are now acquiring your own beans and roasting them in house? That sounds like a grand plan! I've been back several times to the Brew Coffee Spot here in La Mesa, and every time, I have been pleasantly surprised with the new menu item, but more importantly, now with the in house roasting to perfection, well enough said. I'll be coming back more often. You cant go with a Columbia Roast, a Kenyan, Costa Rican, and a French Roast for starters. The menu has been greatly expanded with delicious offerings such as avocado toast, panini sandwiches, quiche, acai bowls, and chicken vegetable pie!?! That is just super. I recently enjoyed the avocado toast and the smoked salmon bagel. Both were terrific. I appreciated their simplicity yet their boldness in flavors. The avocado toast came with a healthy spread of smashed avocado, freshly sliced tomatoes, and not a sprinkling of feta, but a downpour of feta. It was delicious and it sure put a smile on my face after the first bite. You get a choice of bread for your vehicle. I had multi-grain. The smoked salmon bagel was heavenly. I went with the jalapeno cheddar bagel. The bagel was perfect with its light crispy exterior toast and soft chewy center. The jalapeno flavor stood and the texture of the cheddar that crisped on the outside was bliss. The cream cheese was, well creamy, and the smoked salmon was silky rich and delicious. It was quality smoked salmon. The garnish of roasted red peppers were great, because they not only brought great flavor, but color as well. The addition of touch of micro greens would of been nice too. I have to say, every time I have visited, the staff members have all been super amazing and friendly. I appreciate their efforts, making every one feel welcomed. Well done! read more

Came here for the first time with a friend the other week. Or coffees came out warm rather than hot so drinking them outside just made them cold faster, so not as delicious. We shared a breakfast sandwich that had a "beyond" patty because they ran out of breakfast burritos. I think these items, they said, are those microwaveable ones that come from Costco or somewhere, so these aren't exactly freshly made. I definitely would not come back here for food. I might come back to try the coffee again but with better options nearby, I might not. read more

Cappuccino was a solid 6/10. The first layer of the coffee was very hallow. I prefer a thicker layer of foam. The taste of the espresso was present with every sip. Additionally, I enjoyed the breakfast burrito with the chips and salsa. The chips were tasteful and had a great crunch. Burrito was amazing! Don't be afraid to add a bit of ketchup. However, make sure to bring your own because they don't offer ketchup. read more

My wife and I love this place! This is our go to for a simple coffee / breakfast date. The owner and his employees are awesome and glad we call this our go to coffee shop. The food we recommend the Bitch'n avocado toast, breakfast burrito, Turkey hummus panini with seasoned chips, and Caprese panini with seasoned chips. The seasoned chips are seasoned with their Brew Rub which we recommend buying as well. The coffee beans we recommend are the Ethiopia Sidamo, Columbia Tinto, and the Lake Murray Blend. read more

Tried this coffee place for the first time in 2025. It's been around for a while and it's not too far from where I live. Well I was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed the flavor of the blended Mocha and Vanilla Coffee as it has a good coffee flavor! I can really taste the coffee! And not bitter and I love how they even use natural honey as one of their many sweetening options. Since I am a cold brew person and I love blending my own cold brew at home, I decided to try their blended cold brew! It's called Blended Brew Brew and my daughter orders the Morning Maple iced Latte. I love the Blended Brew Brew because it's so smooth yet again has a great coffee flavor but not bitter. I don't like watered down coffee nor do I like bitter. It's perfect. And the Morning Latte is amazing as well, not too sweet. I'm all about "NOT TOO SWEET" drinks and coffee and many don't get it right. Usually their coffees are too sweet! When I ordered the blended mocha coffee I would just say "a little less sweetness" and it was perfect. Anyway, this is now our favorite place for coffee. We have not seen a Starbucks for many months! read more

Coffee is great and they have a reasonable assortment of unique and basic options. Also plenty of seats and outlets, which is great for remote works and learners. My only con is that the WiFi only lasts for 2 hours for every purchase you make. You have to enter a code from your receipt, and if you want to stay longer, you'll have to order another drink/food. Not ideal for students since 2 hours is often not long enough. read more

Cute little coffee shop near where I just moved. It's a fairly large coffee shop. Seems really popular as there was a bunch of people. The selection of pastries and other breakfast items was good. Lots to choose from. I ordered the stuffed croissant with bacon and jalapenos. They come with a side salad. I wasn't too fond of it. I don't know if I would try that food item about but maybe something different. The coffee was delicious . The baristas there were really fast. I enjoyed my coffee. Decently priced. We've come here before and on several occasions found the same thing: One person at each table plugged into their laptop. Sometimes a single person will be at a table for 4. Coffee good but not worth waiting an hour or more for one of these people to leave. They need to make singles sit at tables with other singles. That would help. Otherwise they will continue to lose my (perhaps others) business. read more
