Good food but terrible service. Every time we go we wait 20 + min for our food so we decided today to mobile order. When I got there, the line was wrapped around to the patio doors so I stood to the side and patiently waited for someone. When I had the moment I asked if someone could grab my order but was told I needed to stand in line to pick up my mobile order. Not sure what the point of mobile ordering is if you can't skip the line??? If the owners are reading this, I hope you'll consider having a mobile order section where people can pick up their food and go. As much as we love supporting local businesses in our community and as good as the food is, we won't be back. read more

This place is great for a small breakfast and nice drinks. The prices are really affordable and they have outdoor and indoor seating. I got their jelly and bacon egg croissant sandwich while my friend got the pesto egg sandwich. Both tasted great, but the portions are a bit small. Tried this place out for a quick lunch- and they were quick! Lots of vegan options on the menu, but I went for the meat! and DAIRY! lol I got the fancy grilled cheese and the loaded tots. The grilled cheese was super crispy, delish, and totally amazing. I loved the juicy tomato and avocado. The bacon topped it off for a nice salty crunch. The tots were interesting though. Salted tots, with salted gravy, and salty bacon. Needless to say they were.... SALTY! Too salty for this salt loving fiend. I also got an oat milk latte, which was deliciously perfect. Mad props to the barista for the quick hot drink. The Grilled cheese was not good reheated next day, so it's one of those share with a friend, eat when super hungry, or don't plan on left overs type of sandwiches. Ordered ahead which was nice but not a clear spot to pick up and felt rude cutting the line. Coffee was great but I always wish local coffee shops would offer a massive size coffee. The breakfast burrito was good- i substituted out the beans for pico which was good. I was sad the "avocado" is just store made guac spread and the burrito could use more smashed tots. I've been to this location when it was Mug-N-Muffin and it was just your average coffee place. Nothing special and over priced...I feel like Brew Birds came in and didn't re-invite the coffee place very much. Sure, they added wine and beer, but meh...still over-priced IMHO. I find it odd that Brew Birds didn't make a big fuss about a soft opening?! I didn't see any banners or signs promoting the business and a date claiming when they officially were open for business -- and I live only 2 miles away and shop at HT all the time...weird... I follow them on Instagram and I didn't see anything about a soft opening... Their social media seems to be lacking and it seems they were showcasing other business?? Hmmm... My husband and another couple stopped in last Saturday around 11:30am. Not very busy inside or outside. We took a few minutes to look over the menu and as another reviewer mentioned, you feel odd sorta standing in the way while looking at their menu. People coming into the shop are made to believe you are in line waiting to place an order and it's just kind of a jumbled mess at the front of the store. I ordered a Caramel Macchiato and the cashier said, "You know this isn't like what you order at Starbucks!" I said, "ohhh, ok?" She said it was just an espresso with a shot of caramel and it was served in a tiny cup. I said sure, I'll try it. I also ordered Avocado Toast with Bacon & Egg. Everyone else placed their ordesr and when everything got sent to the person who makes the coffee, she grabbed my ticket and practically yelled, "Who ordered the caramel macchiato?!" I turned around and said it was my drink and very forcefully, she said, "You know this isn't what you think it is, it's not the same drink from Starbucks!!" I was like, ok, yes, I know...the other girl explained it already...sheesh!. Maybe they had a lot of people confuse their fancy macchiato's with Starbucks... My husband ordered the Vegan Burrito and a coffee stout (I don't know what exactly) and our bill was pretty steep: Coffee, beer, burrito and toast = $30. The burrito was very tiny and the beer was $10! My avocado toast was $6, because I added an egg and bacon, but they gave me like half a strip of bacon, really? For $1, I think 2 slices would be a nice gesture. The food was ok, nothing special. I'd rather have a "real" macchiato - vanilla syrup, steamed milk, espresso and caramel sauce, but to each their own. We did find a table inside with four chairs, but the table was dirty and we had to wipe it down ourselves...ugh. And a kid's corner, really? This place is a coffee/beer/wine bar - leave the kids at home. Is it so awful to promote a place for adults to unwind and grab a drink? Food is solid, love the outdoor space to sit and enjoy lunch. But I will not be returning due to their flawed service model - they lost a regular customer instead of incurring a $0.50 cost for French fries. My experiences until lately have been decent and typical - nothing special but also not really tested with a challenging situation. When we ordered today, we asked for a full order of fries (in addition to several other things). What we were given was a 1/2 full basket, which we've received in previous visits as a 1/2 order. When I brought this to their attention, they apologized and told me they'd add more - after returning from the kitchen, they hadn't added any fries and informed me that it was the correct portion. I expressed disappointment at this, and was then told (presumably by the shift manager) that they'd get me an additional order. After waiting outside for a few moments, I was approached by another gentleman (supervising manager), who informed me that they recently implemented 'portion standardization' in the kitchen and that my 1/2 full basket is now their full order. Instead of offering to make up for my disappointment with additional fries (which I had now been offered and denied twice!), he ended the conversation and as we were walking away, offered to take it off my bill (too late). It's not about the $5.50. It's not about the stingy, cost-control portions. It's about prioritizing a process over a customer - this is a losing business model and I hope they are able to learn and improve moving forward. read more

Went here for the first time and got the roast beef sandwich with a full size of sweet potato fries. Also got the breakfast burrito. While the food tasted acceptable, the portions seemed off in relation to prices. A "full" size sweet potato fries seemed really tiny. See the picture attached. It barely covers the base of the container that it's in. The burrito was really small as well. I don't have the biggest bite but i finished the entire burrito in 3 bites. So, a roast beef sandwich, full fries, and a burrito cost $28. Oof. I would've not noticed portion sizes had the fries at least filled the large container halfway. Container sizes aside, the quantity alone is still small for a full size. read more

The coolest coffee shop and beer bar in the South Riding/Aldie/Ashburn area. They boast speciality roasted coffee that they then have seasonal specials that include in-house made syrups. The lattes are my usual go to and they are always perfectly balanced with flavor and distinct espresso, never overly sugary. The beer bar is impressive with a wide array of the rarer and harder to find beers, I'm not taking Coors and Bud Light, I mean the finer beers that geeks search out that include beers on draft from Richmond breweries such as Veil and Triple Crossing, local favorites from Ocelot or Solace, and many others. You can see what's currently on draft because they keep their offerings updated within the Untappd app as a verified venue. Also because this place is so awesome you can get taster pours, full pours, and crowler fills to enjoy at home if you don't have time to hang out. Not only do they do coffee and beer well, but they also have a nice variety of hot and cold food offerings that are all made from fresh ingredients and some unique combinations that turn boring breakfast sandwiches into something special and sought after. They are very accommodating to families too, some of the food is listed in half sizes for the kids or for those of us that are watching our figures. The entire atmosphere is clean and inviting, with its minimalistic decor and funky art mural in the dining area. They have a kids corner with a wooden kitchen play set that has adequately entertained my 1yr old while I'm enjoying a coffee and he has even gotten to play with other kids there too. read more

The flavor is so unique and not super sweet like some syrups. Fancy grilled cheese is the thing of dreams. Buttery, crunchy bread with amazing flavors. I added the garlic aioli and bacon and have no regrets. My daughter was a big fan of the chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. Standard fare IMO. Husband had loaded tots (needed more cheese on top) and the fried chicken wrap. Both were excellent. No pics because we were hungry and devoured everything. The second time, the coffee was delicious but this time I tried the omelette. I added bacon and avo in hopes it would be more substantial. Still tiny. The avo was mashed and half of it had turned color. Ew. This is the important part. The omelette was served in a basket. Cutting an omelette in a rocking basket was a first for me and not fun. Coffee and food are great. Service is okay, 2/3 times I went, I felt dismissed by those taking orders. I stood in line and the cashier just glanced over me and called the next person in line. Huh? I thought that was odd. Staff either feel overwhelmed or just aren't happy to be there. No one smiles.
