I have had excellent care for many years, at Brevard Vision on Babcock. Though they have had challenges with the new phone system and appointment booking system, all transitional difficulties seem to have been resolved. My recent experience on April 11th was excellent. I have a chronic health condition which can affect eye health in a serious manner, and I was very concerned when I arrived. I have had very professional and specialized eye exams from Dr. Leon for many years who has now retired. I was subsequently served by Dr. Williams who was a very kind, detailed and brilliant physician. My new provider is Dr. Dimmick, who is very kind, experienced and professional. He "heard" all of my concerns , was an excellent listener, and offered very professional guidance and follow up. In the past , we have been served by Mike the optician who has a wealth of experience, and can fix any eyeglass issue. On this recent visit, I especially want to thank Rebecca the initial technician, and Derrick , optician, for their kind, detailed and very helpful expertise. Rebecca is thorough, and the visit was made so much easier by her care. Derrick is patient, and spent a great deal of time with my optical needs, and in assisting with possible new glasses. The optometrist never gave me eye cover after my eyes were dilated. I am experiencing some eye discomfort. I called the office and left a message. The staff called me back and said the doctor wants me to use visine drops. I did use the drops, but I am still feeling some discomfort. The staff is very professional but there are a few hiccups in customer service. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Locke's for at least 25 - 30 years. He is an excellent, caring doctor. Dr. Locke retired this last year and at my next appointment I saw Dr. Zippi. The appointment seemed to go ok, but after he told me everything looked ok, he made the statement that I had macular degeneration, but at my age, it was nothing to worry about. I have one sister who is blind and three others who have this disease. I am a senior citizen, but I value my eyesight. I called the office and asked to be assigned to another doctor because of what Dr. Zippi said. I was given an appointment with Dr. Collette. Earlier this month when I arrived for my 10 am appointment the receptionist told me that they had cancelled my appointment that morning and I needed to make another appointment with Dr. Zippi. After some discussion about all this, I was told I could sit in the waiting room and if another doctor could see me that she would call me back. When I asked how long a wait it would be, she shrugged her shoulders and said she had no idea. I thanked her and left. Evidently that is how they treat their oldest patients. I know there are good doctors there, but I will never recommend them because of the rudeness of office staff. read more

Brevard Vision Care-Babcock: To say my experience left me disappointed is an understatement! Scheduling my appointment and the appointment itself went well. I had the feeling I was just another person who had entered through the door. One after another was funneled through the process. There is no real doctor-to-patient relationship established. After the appointment, I was assisted in selecting frames and the upgrades I was encouraged to purchase. The frames arrived sooner than expected, and the staff put forth effort to ensure the fit worked for me. I had a previous pair of glasses I damaged, and I sought their opinion on a repair. I was told they could try to make the repair. However, there were no guarantees on the outcome. I understood the no guarantees, ,but had no idea they would be worse than how i left them. I never received a call on these and called after two weeks. I was told they were not checked yet. I waited 2-3 more weeks and called again and was told the glasses had been inadvertently placed on the "complete" shelf and they were unsure why I wasn't contacted. I picked up the glasses the following week. Well, they are now completely unusable in any fashion. When the staff member brought this to the attention of the member who tried the repair, I clearly heard this employee state, "I didn't want to do it anyhow. I told him there were no guarantees." I immediately asked for my glasses and departed. I will not return here. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this business and will not return. read more

Aweful phone system. It's impossible to get through. The optical sales are ok. They sent my glasses out. They told me a week to 10 days. 3 weeks later they came back with the demo lense still in them! They tried to tell me that the company that they use said it did not look like an order. I have been going here for 5 years and every year the service goes down hill. while I like my doctor the rest of the staff is terrible. When you call seem like they are put out and they always put you on hold. I need a prescription filled, my pharmacist sent over on 7/9 today is 7/14 STILL NOT FILLED. I called this morning and am still waiting for someone to call back. NOT TOO COOL since I have no choice but to take these eye drops. The doctor I am seeing and the office staff at his Wickham Rd office are fabulous however, Brevard Vision Care's telephone service is the worst I've ever come across. I've been trying to call/reach someone to reschedule my appointment over the past 2 days and have left 3 voice messages. No one has returned my call,,, so I went on line and clearly shared my experience and requested someone contact me. I have called this place a total of 9 times over the past 2 days and each time I receive a recording "they are currently busy"! When I receive the automatic recording I've even pressed the number for the billing office and they too are "currently busy". Hopefully this review will get someone's attention! read more

I am new to Florida and I thought I was making a great decision by choosing this eye doctor for my annual exam. From the time I walked there was a lack of professionalism and clear attitudes from the ladies at the front desk. They have a "I do this everyday and I hate it" attitude. But I looked past it because I've worked the front desk so I know how mentally exhausting it can be. However, this does not excuse or justify how you treat other people. My rating is one star because these healthcare facilities will do whatever they can to get money out of you. Anything they can bill for, they will do their damnedest to make it happen. I have never been to an eye doctor who "requires" you to have your eyes dilated. During my visit, it was never disclosed to me that it would be "required" or "medically necessary" to have my eyes dilated. This was NEVER explained to me. So I called today and spoke with someone named Samantha. She refused to order my contacts because I "had to" have my eyes dilated in order to conclude my exam. This was news to me and was not once explained to me during my visit. I say all that to say, make sure you have CLEAR verbal and written instructions or directions before and after your visit with these people. They clearly make up rules as they go because Samantha had no clue what she was talking about. Everything she said on the phone was news to me and was NEVER disclosed to me at the time of my visit. I would make this place a LAST RESORT. Please, for the sake of your care and your pockets, go somewhere else. read more

First off, I have been a patient here for a long time. Me and my husband both, but not anymore! I went in to get an eye check apparently I have allergies that are causing eye irritation. Well I told this new guy his name is Dr. Dimmick another "new" Docter that I haven't seen before, this place is like a revolving door now! I told him I'm very uncomfortable with eye exams and as a professional he should be VERY used to that. He had to pull down my eyelid and also pull up my top lid, and I did not see him, wash his hands or sterilize his hands with any sanitizer or did he wear any gloves secondly, and most importantly, when he was doing that he was holding /more like pulling my eyelashes and not my lid or the bottom of my eye and ripped out half of my eyelashes. It hurt so bad!!!! He didn't even apologize! Who does that as a professional? Any smart person should know that you do not grab a persons eyelashes to open the eye, as they easily come out and some don't grow back so now I had to pay a co-pay to have my eyelashes ripped out by this so called Dr. Dimmick!! BEWARE this Docter will not protect your eyes or lashes women! And to make matters worse, he even commented that I go and get my lashes done so no big deal ... !!!?? well no, my eyelashes are real and not fake, so I was very taken back by that, and it was very unprofessional Remarque to be made! I'm NOT happy at all and this could have been avoided! It was painful and to say the least so frustrating to have this happen. I saw all the lashes on his finger too. No apologies, like who cares. I have been seeing Dr. Burns-Legros for many years. She is competent and caring, and is always very pleasant. She takes plenty of time to explain things to you. I recently had a minor eye emergency and walked in to the office, and they squeezed me into their busy schedule. So yes - maybe someone ended up waiting an extra ten minutes later that morning- sorry about that - but isn't it good to know that your eye doctor is available when you need them? A walk-in on a busy day always throws the reception staff for a loop - but they handled this pleasantly and efficiently. Some reviewers have complained about their selection of frames - or prices - be aware that you can always get your written eyeglass prescription and use it to shop eyeglasses at any store of your choosing. You can buy eyeglasses online and save a little money, but if they need to be adjusted after the fact there is no one to help you. When you purchase eyeglasses from a "brick-and mortar" facility you are paying the salaries of those staffers, paying the rent for the building, etc. And paying for personal service. Don't forget that. And anywhere you go, those name-brand frames with the names of movie stars or rap artists on them are going to be an extra $$$ I have never had problems with glasses I purchased here or with any needed after-purchase adjustments. read more

While waiting to be called back, a lady was getting upset from the bad service she had been receiving from this business and talking about glasses that she's had to get repaired 6 times since purchasing. The lady she was discussing this with snapped at her telling her to take a seat. While the customer was walking around the ladies in the showroom area that work there were acting like high school girls talking about the customer while she was still in the area. Whoever's fault that is I don't know but telling me that I'm wrong when I know that I'm right and have proof is a horrible way of running a business. If I could give this business a 0 star I would! I had to call to see if my prescription glasses were in yet and were told yes they were and were going to give me a call in the evening. Proceeded to drive in to get them and all was well. Was asked if anything else she could do for me and I said my prescription sunglasses which I had bought there needed a little tightening as they were falling down on my nose. She was glad to do it and took them back to the lab and was gone for 20 minutes!! Came back and sat down and said I've got some bad news and some good news.... The bad news is that your sunglasses are out of warranty! The good news is that I can get you a new pair at 50 percent off!! She had cracked the lens of my $300 pair of prescription sunglasses and had the audacity to want to charge me to get a new pair!!!! There is another whole horrific story to this as well which I won't bore you with (meaning there was also distortion to the other lens so I wasn't able to see clearly out of it). But eventually the only satisfaction I received was a new lens for the cracked side of the sunglasses... Do you think this place should be in business?????1 read more

No! Go somewhere else! They put you in the room and if you wear contacts be ready for a very hard sell to purchase these and not glasses. I told the girl I'd be using my insurance for eyeglasses and she turned and left the room muttering rudely. Most insurance pays better on glasses not contacts. Got my RX ordered glasses came back a week later to get them. Wrong RX! The MD had written my RX totally not what it was! My chart had the correct RX. Must have happened before because the eyeglass lady looked at her coworker like really again? My father also went here. He got glasses with bifocals and could not see out of them. The MD kept insisting there was nothing wrong with the glasses. After going back three times and being told there's nothing wrong with the glasses there's nothing they can do he went to another MD who said the glasses were not made at all to his RX. While I'm sure the optometrists and staff may be professional to others, my experience with their policies was the exact opposite. Not honoring prescriptions from others not only undermined my primary-care optometrist - it cost Brevard Vision Care $500 of business, as I was prepared to order two frames with lenses on the day, and ensured I would never visit them in the future. Furthermore, by not listing this fact predominately on their website, I feel it is an attempt to take advantage of nearby students - which is deplorable. read more

Dr Burns has taken care of my family and i for quite a few years, she has gone above and beyond with all of us to make sure everything is done perfectly every step of the way. when money was a little tight my wife and daughter decided to try one of the cheaper eye glass stores and both wound up with glasses they couldn't use, so they really saved nothing and brevard vision is not that much more expensive. I went to this office because it was on my insurance plan and I did find the staff members to be very nice. However the range of choices in frames was very, very limited. I also had a problem with my new glasses as the bi-focal line was wrongly placed. They did change this but it was another loss of my time and inconvenience. When I did get my glasses back the second time, I noticed that the tint was almost unnoticeable and not the depth of shade I had chosen. So, nice staff but not a great experience. read more

I have been going here for years to get my eyes checked. I was happy with the doctor. I have purchased glasses here one time before in 2015, found them VERY expensive, however my last insurance plan covered glasses in full so I thought maybe I didn't know how much they really cost. My husband went somewhere else, however and got glasses for a fraction of what I paid. This time, I brought in all my old, very expensive frames and said I would like to use them. They said they could not use any of them for one reason or another. So I was back to the beginning and I told the girl I could not afford to buy another pair as expensive as the last. She offered a 50% discount on everything and brought me each frame telling me the price then what it would be after 50% off. When she rang up 2 pairs, I thought it was too high, but thought I would look at the itemized statement when I got home. The itemized statement was full of numbers and couldn't figure out what was frame, what was lens etc. They said it would be 7-10 business days, but called after just 4 days that they were ready. When I went to pick them up, I asked a new person to review with me the itemized statement. I was overcharged on the frames by more than $200. When I asked that it be corrected, the manager Brookie came over and said no, and a refund or return "comes out of these girls pockets" and "if you return you may never buy glasses here again.". Well, Brookie, I won't, nor will I be back to see the doctors. It became clear as I sat watching another elderly couple get a high pressure sell, that's their business. DONE and DONE!! read more

I don't recall the Doctors name but during the examination he discovered a piece of debris in the corner of my eye , He basically freaked out and started gloving up for surgery. I can understand the importance how ever he over reacted. Then to learn i was charged a double deductible fee for the removal of this spec he removed in 10 seconds. Brevard Vision Care in Melbourne, Florida is by far THE worst Staff and Eyeglass Fitting place in the world-and I have been to many, many beautiful compassionate AND professional places in the world. I walked in to hopefully purchase a nice pair of eyeglass frames. I also TOLD the front desk AS SOON as I walked in that I was in the care of another doctor in my hometown and would not be needing to buy the prescription lenses here, only the frames. The NIGHTMARE began with Optician, "JONI" a middle-aged woman with long white hair..a neurotic from first meeting--she was a nervous wreck and had a sour whining awful personality for a people job. She showed restless emotion and disgraceful facial grimaces for the entire 2 hours I was there trying on about 30 pairs. She complained the WHOLE time because I have a smaller petit face with a heavy prescription and needed lightweight glasses-stylish to suit MY personality and NEEDS. She slapped every pair I took off the shelf onto the table with anger, grabbed glasses out of my hand, talked to me condescendingly like a parent does to a child in a candy store; reprimanded me for "taking long" to make a decision; while there was somethin wrong with every pair she chose for me. When I asked her to look up the different colors and sizes my favorite glasses came in and had found JUSt what I needed but it had to be custom-ordered; she got angry saying she has helped me enough. This whole time I was very patient with her, as she made me very nervous just wanting to get rid of me I felt so UNwelcome there. The front desk lady who took my insurance information came to tell her after an hour that I was not intending to buy prescription lenses, only to buy framed. JONE said " Oh , NO, GOSH, you waste my TIME, " and walked out on me saying " I am saturated." Then came a calmer tall dark-skinned woman who tried to help but in the end told me she had to get permission to sell me only the frames, and she was incompetent too, speaking in incomplete sentences. She asked a heavyset woman wit short blond-white hair about the insurance. The billing manager had just left. I reminded them all that I was 5 hours away from HOME and that I can not come back tomorrow to fit glasses and that they should had 2 HOURS to verify my billing (after interrupting my eyeglass search once to make me go to the front desk to do just that)That 3rd woman attacked me rudely yelling across the room that I am causing trouble. They were actually unprofessional and ANGRY because I was buying ONLY frames, so they intentionally made it difficult, delaying the purchase till the next day HOPING I would change my mind, but through all of this WASTE of my TIME, they didn't bother explaining themselves, they continue to insult me , speak DOWN on me because I was smarter than them, lose themselves emotionally, . JONI was HIDING in the back the entire time listening to them make me feel AWFUL, so she came running out just before closing to reiterate that they were "done with" me! I practically left there crying because I needed glasses soon for reading. The heavyset woman was the worst; she kept reprimanding me like I was a child, and I am 35 years old. She actually told the front desk to take me out of the system when I told them to release my insurance information. WHO is the CUSTOMER here? Me. Who was the patient nice person? Me. Who is Unprofessional, nasty, incompetent and angry birds? Brevard Vision Care. Plus, their glasses were $120 more than 4 other optical stores in the area! A losing battle, Stay away from losers. A local OPtometrist a half an hr later who was very helpful, told me that Brevard Vision Care leaves many, many customers unsatisfied, offended and running to him for compassionate professional help. Waited a month to get in as a new patient. Received my appointment call reminder for 3:30 the next day at their SUNTREE location. Scheduled two hours off of work and left work 60 minutes early as I work 30 min away and wanted to make sure I arrived in plenty of time. Using the address they gave me (which was the WRONG address!) I struggled for 30 minutes trying to find their office. Called information and was connected with one of their other locations who then had to transfer me to the correct location. Girl who answered said she'd let them know I was running a bit late. Right at 3:30, just as I pulled up into their parking lot ON TIME, they called me stating that as I was 15 minutes late they didn't know that they were going to be able to see me. I told her I was there and was coming in. Nancy at the front desk was extremely rude and flat out REFUSED to let me be seen as she stated I should have arrived 15 min earlier as I was a new patient! I explained that I had been given the wrong address, that I had been driving around for 30 min trying to find their office and that I had just taken two hours off of work for the appointment. She stated that was too bad and that I should have called earlier! I ARRIVED AT 3:30!! The time in which my reminder call stated my appointment was!! Not only that, they had already told me they were running a bit behind and had a waiting room FULL of people! My guess is that I would have been waiting in the waiting room for quite some time. I have never in my life been turned away from a medical appointment. I work in healthcare and we have never turned a patient aka customer away from an appointment. Completely unbelievable that an organization, who seemingly is in the business of patient care, turns away patients for their appointments! Good paying customers!! I will never schedule another appointment here and will make sure that everyone I know is advised that this is NOT The place to go for any type of quality eye care. My family switched insurance providers and under our new plan, this place was covered. We went to the Suntree location. Not only do you spend a vast majority of your time with assistants, rather than the doctor, but it also takes a very long time because the assistants make you go from station to station and wait for several minutes for them to come take care of you. An appointment at LensCrafters can be taken care of in under an hour, but the last time we went here it took my brother 3 hours to get out of Brevard Vision Care for just a routine eye exam.
