WOW. Everything was delicious. The mussels were some of the best and biggest I've ever had. We got two baskets of fresh bread which was so exciting. My roommate wanted a French 75, the server didn't know what it was, my roommate explained, and she came back with fabulous French 75. That is service I can get behind!! Come here. Worst oysters I've ever seen, I was shocked they would even serve them. They had every tell-tale sign of a bad oyster and looked like they defrosted a frozen oyster and placed it on a different shell. Service was terrible, never asked if the food was ok, even seeing a full uneaten plate of oysters. Had the Captain's Platter, which I did eat, and it was barely passable - soggy and flavorless. We went to Brennan's on a busy Lenten Friday. We waited about 45 minutes. We both ordered $9.99 walleye sandwich special right away and our food came out in 10 minutes. Everything was hot. The sandwich was tasty. The fries were fresh and a perfect portion. I also ordered coleslaw which at $6.99 was a little bit pricey, but it was good. Everyone was friendly and attentive. This restaurant had such a warm and welcoming vibe as soon as we set foot in the door. It seemed like we were going back in time, in the best way possible. The owner was walking around, greeting customers, and making sure that everyone was taken care of. Right down to helping an elderly gentleman take his coat off and get seated. This is a rarity anymore. Our server Makenzie didn't miss a beat, despite it being a packed house on a Friday night. I had a cherry mule cocktail, which was excellent. And we started out with a salad and appetizer platter. Everything arrived quickly but was timed well enough that we didn't feel rushed between entrees. I ordered the Lake Erie perch platter with fries and coleslaw. It was all fresh, hot, and delicious. The coleslaw needs a bit of work, though. They were very generous with the sauces for each entree. My hubby got the Delmonico steak and shrimp dinner. The steak was cooked to perfection! Very tasty, no A-1 sauce needed! The owner even checked in with us to make sure that our dinners were satisfactory. I ordered a slice of key lime pie to go! It was great! We got the fried perch, walleye, and roughy. We also got the crab cake, scallop, French fries, and loaded mashed potatoes. The French fries were a little greasy, but it didn't bother us. They provide a warning when you're in the restaurant. All in all, we liked some dishes better than others. The fried perch and walleye were fried perfectly and were among some of the best North-American style fried fish I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were also delicious. We first went on Sunday night but also returned Monday after discovering almost no restaurants are open on Monday. Excellent service and a lengthy menu with lots of choices. Over two nights we tried and liked Fresh Lake Erie Perch and Walleye, Virginia oysters on the half shell and fried and scallops. Oyster's were huge! I love Brennan's. Made it yesterday for clambake. Sundays in October. The price was reasonable compared to other places. The chowder delicious, clams too. Potato was fine, corn too. I would have like the chicken to be more roasted. It was more like a stew chicken than a traditional clambake chicken. Please change this so your clambake will be perfect. The owner is always welcoming and the servers the best. It really is a nice place to perch. Just change that chicken. read more

My mom decided she wanted to try this place for her birthday dinner. I hadn't done any research ahead of time, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's across the street from a pretty well known seafood restaurant, but Brennan's seems to hold their own. The look from the outside gives "nautical" vibes and once inside its very casual, but has a homey, familiar feel to it. Our server was Corey, and he was very friendly, professional and he did not forget about us. The food was fresh and tasty. For starters we had: Fried calamari Breaded oysters (fried) Fried mushrooms And of course the bread and butter. Four of us got the catfish with the Cajun seasoning, I replaced my coleslaw with a side salad. My daughter used some of the bread and made her a catfish sandwich. My mom got the stuff Orange roughy, she said it was great and filling. We had food to take home and no room for desert. We received a visit from who I could only assume is the manager or maybe owner, asking how everything was. It's things like that that make a difference. I never leave reviews, but the experience was so good, I had to. It is so rare that restaurants really pay attention to the details. There's folks do. The delicious bread comes from a local bakery. My boyfriend and I went to Brennen's Fish House for the first time on Saturday, October 18th for Sweetest Day. We both had the Crab Stuffed Orange Roughy and I have to say, by far, this is the best fish I have ever had. Our meal came with broccoli and a baked potato. The Orange Roughy was so tender and flaky and the crab stuffing was excellent. The portions was very generous, enough for two meals and the price was very reasonable. The owner personally came over, greeted us and asked us how we enjoyed our meal. You must try this restaurant! The food and service were amazing! read more

Blackened Fried Catfish sandwich was so moist and tender with the perfect amount of seasoning. The fillet was fried perfectly, and the ratio of batter to fish succumbed to no other. I hate to leave this, but people from VB who are used to normal-sized oysters need to know: these were HUGE, weird-looking, and honestly unappetizing. I couldn't even finish one without gagging actually had to throw one up. The bruschetta? Completely misleading. Instead of the toppings being on the bread like literally every bruschetta ever, they dumped them in a bowl like some random dip. This longtime Grand River institution has been serving up generous portions of excellent seafood since 1973 and has only gotten better with time. Prior to my most recent visit, I had only eaten here on a few occassions and didn't quite capture the experience. Not this time! I stopped in on a weekday around 4:00 p.m. and it was suprisingly quiet, with a single table occupied. I figured it was likely due to most patrons being stuck in rush hour traffic. That being said, I was promply seated and handed a menu. There are a plethora of options ranging from walleye, perch, salmon, orange roughy, mussels, clams, oysters, scallops, shrimp, steak, chicken, and even burgers. One item I would strongly recommend is the Fishermans Chowder (red or white). The red version is light and flavorful while the white variety is a New England style chowder. After much contemplation, I decided on the stuffed orange roughy. It came with a basket of complementary bread, which was warm and came with butter. The orange roughy was generously portioned and prepared expertly. It came with a side of broccoli and a baked potato. I was impressed after my most recent visit and will definitely return often. Brennans is an excellent choice for fine seafood and it won't break the bank. Give it a try! read more

Interesting situation at lunch with the girls today. Upon arrival, we were seated at a table with six chairs. Tight space for 6, but good location for chatting. Then, the new attractive menus, covered for easy cleaning, good delineation of food types. Ah, the price change! Shocking! I had an oyster sandwich, nicely presented on a bun with fresh lettuce, palatable tomato (kind of winterish), tartar and seafood red sauce. I ordered fries, Brennan's specialty, a cup of coffee(generously refilled), and a "to die for"chocolate "spoon" cake, delicious but not as expected spoon cake wise! Look up a recipe. I have embellished my choices to justify the $41.00+ with tip I spent for lunch. And I didn't choose the most expensive dish on the menu. It seems Brennan's is raising prices to cut down the vast number of guests who have enjoyed this quaint seafood house for many years. In the future, perhaps servers will be relieved they do not have to work so quickly waiting on all those seafood seekers. Good luck! read more

Not sure what happened here but wondering if there was an ownership change? Lunch was not good, small portions, and very surprised to see the bill.
