This is my second time using Brenda's for an apartment move-out clean. The first time, I was living in San Francisco. The cleaners were late, but were friendly, professional and did an outstanding job, so it was worth it. Today, the cleaners (a different pair) were 30 minutes late (traffic, which was legit) but they too were very friendly, professional and hard-working, so it wasn't a big deal. (It also helped that I'd re-read the reviews here, so I was kind of expecting it and had planned accordingly.) The rate was very reasonable and they did a great job. If I weren't moving to the East Coast, I wouldn't hesitate to use Brenda's again, I'd just make sure that I scheduled them on a day when I had some flexibility in my timeline. read more

Did a good job cleaning the little part of my house I had asked to be cleaned. But I paid for 4 hours of cleaning. And then was told that it would be 2 people for 2 hours. Then they left 30 minutes early! So its like I lost an hour of cleaning. Super disappointed and I won't be back. It's kinda like stealing. So what about the additional hour of work I had paid for? I'm beyond disappointed. read more

This is in regards to Cristina L's response from brenda's Cleaning; 1. please see the attached picture of the text scheduling the appointment where I requested window sills and blinds so you should have sent the correct people. Having one cleaner stay in my entry way playing on her phone for almost an hour does not suffice as an excuse to why a poor, in complete job was done. There were only four things included on my list of things to complete in order floors, windowsills, just 1 bathroom and kitchen- in four hours( or two hours with two people) is not an unreasonable request. Two windows were poorly done, no other windows were touched, One bathroom was cleaned but the kitchen wasn't touched. The girl who stood in my entryway playing on her phone until I asked her if she needed help cleaning anything "cleaned" 2 sets of blinds- in "2" hours!! That's all she did the entire time she was in my house was two sets of blinds. There was not an adequate attempt in completing her job by any means. 2. Cristina stating its good I saw the cleaners allowing cleaning solution to drip into my pets' food so I could throw it away doesn't address the negligence of the cleaners. And what happens for the people that do not see the cleaners while they are negligent around the pet food?? Didn't just drip into empty dishes that would dry, it dripped into my pets' food-that is dangerous and unacceptable and the lax response is concerning. 3. Yes I paid for four hours they left 20 minutes early times two people is over a half hour literally stolen, in addition to only one person of the two people working for the first hour. When I first addressed this issue, I was told that they arrived 20 minutes earlier. I was crossing the bridge on my way home from work at 2:36, so I know what time I came home from work and know what time they arrived. 4. It has been almost a month since I wrote my original post, and still have not been refunded the amount for the remaining two housecleaning's that I no longer want or feel comfortable with their employees in my house. Keep in mind, I was told I would see the refund on 11 /28/ 17, today is January 17, 2018. Original post; Beware if you have pets, very careless with dripping chemicals in the pet food dishes. I set up my first of three cleanings. It was horrible. They left early, didn't clean what was requested (it was pre agreed during scheduling and agreed when they first arrived), one girl worked really hard, the other girl literally stood in my entry way doing nothing/playing on her phone most of the time they were there. I was in my backyard and could literally see her (I don't think she realized I could see her. finally, I came in and asked if she needed help with anything. She began cleaning my kitchen (wood) blinds, which is directly next to my cats' food/water dishes.. They ended up leaving early. Let's say they left just 15 minutes early- the way the cleaning service sets it up is 2 hours cleaning is done by 2 people for 1 hour- so 2 people Leaving just 15 minutes early is already 30 minutes of lost cleaning time. So I figured since they left early, they must have finished everything early. I was excited to check out my house- but while walking around I began to wonder what was cleaned..? I have two small bathrooms directly next to one another. they were down the hall together but only one bathroom was cleaned; my bathrooms are too small for 2 people to fit in and clean, literally not eNothing was done in the bedrooms (at my request) so I was surprised the other bathroom wasn't cleaned since they were both down the hall. After they left, I had to use a hand vaccum to clean up the cat food the girl knocked over while standing on my credenza. I immediately contacted the listed phone number with pictures of the "cleaning". They agreed it was "not acceptable at all". The biggest problem was while the girl was cleaning my blinds, she was standing on my credenza (SMH) that my cats' food and water dishes are on (I also have dogs) and didn't bother to move the cats' bowls out of the way so everything she was spraying and wiping was literally dripping in their bowls. Luckily for me, I saw this first hand and tossed the food and water. I worry however for other customers, as this is clearly ridiculous behavior. Anyways, I told the company I did not want to schedule the other two appointments. They said (via text) I will receive a refund that Friday, which was on 11/28- today is 12/20 and I have yet to receive a refund. I would not recommend. read more

I needed a move-out cleaning, and Brenda's referred an extraordinary team, Connie and Rosa. They were professional, courteous, and worked like a house afire. I would happily give them and Brenda's ten stars if you allowed. A very reasonable price, an excellent job, and a splendid experience. From booking the service to the job itself-- splendid! Highly recommended! read more

I JUST had a house cleaning and so happy I found them! I too got a Groupon for Brenda's cleaning and at first I was wary because my experience with G'pon services hasn't been the best lately (awful hair salon experiences :-( ). Booked with Christina 2.5 weeks in advance (so be sure to call early if you want them a certain time). Lillian and Rita arrived promptly and got straight to work. Very good dusting, thorough vacuuming and best of all great bathroom and kitchen clean up! After my last cleaning lady that really didn't know what she was doing, this is a pleasant surprise. Although I have to say our master bath is under construction and I had them skip it this time but they did do the other 1 and 1/4 bathrooms. I am so glad I got the 3 cleaning deal and plan to keep using them after my deal is done as long as they keep cleaning this well. Thanks ladies, see you next time. read more

I can't believe this is happening again! In my first review, I had just had knee surgery and couldn't clean my house. I booked an appointment and the cleaners never showed. I called and called but they don't answer after 3pm. The owner called and offered a cleaning service on the house the next day, which I accepted. They did a good job and I decided to use them again. This time I'm pregnant and need a little help. Depending on how this appointment went, I was planning to make this a regular thing. But the cleaners did not show up again! I feel like I'm in the twilight zone! I can barely make it up my stairs without being winded and now I'm going to have to clean this house house by hand. So disappointed. The company really needs to take calls later or have them forwarded in case of emergency like this. So unprofessional. read more

My experience scheduling the appointment was easy. The cleaners arrived on time. What did get cleaned was cleaned to my standards. I would not use Brenda's again for the following reasons: 1) The two gals who cleaned my place were constantly texting and talking on their phones while cleaning. One even stopped what she was doing to focus on her phone conversation for several minutes. 2) I paid for two cleaners for two hours. Upon making the appointment I was asked by the scheduler what I wanted cleaned, which ended up taking only one hour. Instead of asking me what else could be done, the girls packed up and prepared to leave. I told them that they need to keep it moving until time is up, and gave them other tasks to do. One of the two grudgingly continued cleaning, the other sat outside the front door and waited for her. 3) Because the cleaners did not speak or understand English well, I had difficulty communicating my (additional) cleaning needs to them. This service was not worth the $ (even the low Groupon price). read more

I highly recommend Brenda's cleaning services. I've used them exclusively for almost 10 years and have been very pleased with the service on every level. Brenda is always responsive and does all she can to accommodate her clients with special requests, etc. The cleaning teams are consistently reliable, professional & proficient. I've only been dissatisfied one time, and the situation was immediately corrected. read more

Do not purchase this Groupon! You are not purchasing "4 hours". You are purchasing 4 man-hours of work, which means that three workers can be cleaning your place for 80 minutes total. Very deceptive and shady. As well, the amount of work they accomplish in the time they are at your place is quite low. I feel ripped off and certainly won't be using Brenda's, or Groupon again. read more

First off, I was a little irritated to begin with, because I bought a rather confusingly-worded Groupon for this company. My fault for not reading the fine print. They are not a cleaning service with employees, they are a referral service. So, depending on where you live, your cleaning person or "cleaning team" will be different. The people on the phone are a little frustrating to deal with, and the fact that they don't do weekends is annoying. I bought a Groupon for a two-hour, two-person cleaning job. After a few attempts, I finally booked a time that fit my schedule, and paying an extra $30 since I'd used their service once, three years ago. They gave me a one-hour window of when to expect them, which, I'm sorry, is ridiculous. You're not a cable-repairman. Schedule a time, and honor it. The cleaners arrived extremely promptly, and were pleasant enough. We spoke briefly about priorities, and they got straight to work. The problem is, they just did not do a thorough enough job. I have a small apartment, and the expectations were to focus mainly on the bathroom and kitchen, and then if time, dust and do the hardwood floors. The kitchen was clean, but the floors were not. In fact, the rug in the kitchen had not even been vacuumed. And I was concerned when they used a swiffer with a towel on it to "clean" the floors. The bathroom was just not up to standards, and I ended up spending about 30 minutes doing "follow up" in the tub and on the floor. We have a large, open shelf in the bathroom that collects dust and dirt. I made a point of clearing out items to it could be cleaned, but that was not even attempted. I had to climb in the bathtub to get all the spots missed on the glass doors and along the railings. WHICH IS EXACTLY WHY I HIRED A CLEANING SERVICE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I have had my home cleaned before, for less money, and to a much higher standard. And it have to note, my home was not especially dirty or gross. Everything was clean-ish, but if I wanted something half-assed, I would have just done it myself. My only tip: if you do decide to use this strange company because you were suckered in by the Groupon, when they ask before they leave if everything looks ok, really take a few minutes to LOOK. And don't feel bad about asking them to fix things. I was timid about it, and now I regret it. read more

I had an appointment today at 11:30 am. When I had call to make the appointment I specifically asked that they come after 10 am. At 8 am I hear a knock on my door and they're here. I ask if they could please come back at the time we had set up. I get a call at 11 and they said they're moving the appointment to 3 pm. First of all, they should of apologized for showing up at the wrong time and 2nd the way they told me was just so rude. Instead of asking me if 3 pm was ok. The lady on the phone was like they are coming at 3. I was like fine whatever. The pair of ladies came at 2:45 and got to work. They did an ok job. But I was told that they were bringing their own supplies. When they got here they were using my mop, broom, finished half a container of bleach, used oxyclean fabric spray on my kitchen floor (which i was like umm that's not a floor cleaner) and took my newly opened kitchen sponge. I had booked them for an hour an a half. They left early at 3:45. I still had 30 more mins. The carpet could of been vacuumed more, the kitchen floor could of been mopped a couple more times. Overall they did an ok job. But if I payed for 1.5 hours, you should stay and work that 1.5 hour and not leave early. read more

Alas.... Eureka.... a wonderful cleaning service. I should of followed Paul M's advice from the get go. I have now set them up on a biweekly basis. They show up on time, bring their supplies, get to work, leave a perfectly clean house, bill my account. If you call and speak to Brenda you will find she is very straight forward and upfront about the cost per hour and how many hours they will probably need to do a good job. However with that said she puts it all in your hands to make the best decision possible for your budget and your needs. If you are looking for a new service I suggest you give them a call and my I also suggest you ask for Vanessa (as long as you don't take away my day and time) read more

There were a lot of negative reviews for Brenda's which made me hesitant to buy a Groupon. But I did, and I think they did a fairly good job for what I paid. I had a mixed experience, as follows: I made an appointment online, and the first time they were supposed to come they did not show which was a pain in the butt because I had already tidied the house in anticipation of them coming. I waited around for a full hour and a half wondering what the problem was. However, Brenda called me personally and did her best to reschedule in a timely fashion. This was professional and thoughtful. When the cleaners came the following week, they did a pretty good job. They were thorough, although they were not particularly efficient (a little slow). I asked them to make the bed, which they didn't (okay, perhaps they forgot). They also did not clean the top of coffee table, which was a surprise. They did a good job cleaning the bathtub and toilet. And honestly, I'd far prefer cleaning the coffee table myself than the toilet. In the final analysis: As a groupon, it is a fair deal. The cleaners are not perfect, but they are adequate and respectful, and they did the job. With that said, I probably would not pay full price for the service. read more

I purchased a 2 hour cleaning from Brenda's via Living Social. It took over 5 weeks before I could schedule an appointment. The 2 showed up late to my home. My home is only 2300 square feet and in the two hours they barely cleaned anything. They did not even vacuum my carpets. My house has 3 bedrooms; of which only 2 are lived in and they didn't even clean my daughter's room; never stepped foot inside. I have had my home cleaned before and one person has been able to clean my entire home top to bottom in 3 hours; so why couldn't 2 people accomplish this in 2 hours? read more

I do not get my house cleaned professionally on a regular basis, but I gave Brenda's a try when I saw an online deal for 3 cleanings (2 people/2 hours each time). I scheduled the cleanings one month apart. The two cleaners came on time all three times, were courteous, and did a great job. I know my house and how long it takes to clean, so I asked them to clean the kitchen, the living room, the dining room and the two bathrooms. This was very do-able, and these areas were super clean. To be clear (because I see the other reviews), my experience was very good. I recommend this service and am likely to use it again in the future. I did not have any issues on the phone or with breakage. Cleaning houses is not an easy or enjoyable job--I know, because it is usually me who does it. I'm happy to find a service that is affordable and that I feel comfortable with. read more

I was really impressed. I was a little hesitant because of some of the Living Social Reviews, but I wasn't using a coupon so I thought i would try the non-discounted cleaning. It was still much cheaper than other places I priced out in Southern Marin. They arrived almost on time, the two ladies had a little trouble finding the place, but most people do. But they called and asked for directions and I was able to direct them. They brought all their own products which is great because my lack of good cleaning products is part of the reason that my place was getting so dirty. They scrubbed the showers, toilets, mopped the floors, vacuumed the furniture, cleaned the microwave, made my bed with fresh sheets, etc. They even vacuumed out my cat's bed! The next time a friend came over, he said, "you must have had an army of people in here to get it this clean." (It wasn't that bad, I swear). But no army, just 2 women for about 2.5 hours. Nothing missing, trustworthy and friendly. Will definitely be giving them a call again when the cat hair starts to get out of control. read more

I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews. The ladies who work for Brenda's Cleaning are fabulous! They have been cleaning my house for nearly a year now. The price is very reasonable and there is always more than one person which I really appreciate as some of my furniture and beds are really difficult to manage alone. If it was just one person and not a team they would be there twice as long and probably not be able to do what is needed. Brenda's cleaners are conscientious and thorough, and you can tell that they take pride in what they do - my house sparkles for days. If you need anything special (I like unscented/natural cleaning supplies) just text message Brenda/Christina. She will text you right away. Scheduling is done by text and it is simple and they send reminders. Oh, and I keep a credit card on file which makes it simple to pay. Highly recommend Brenda's House Cleaners! read more

Great job! I booked a 4 hour cleaning and had 2 ladies that cleaned for 2 hours each. I bought a Living Social deal for Brenda's Housecleaning for $57 for 4 hours. The scheduling process was fairly easy and the wait time to get an appointment was two weeks. I keep my house very clean so my main purpose of hiring house cleaners is to clean the bathrooms and mop the floors, my two least favorite chores. The two women showed up late, did not clean the toilets or mop the floors and my house did not smell clean after they left. I realized they didn't arrive with a mop and the house did not look vacuumed. I re-vacuumed, cleaned the toilets and the shower and put in glade plug ins to try to make the house smell clean. They did not stay for the full 2 hours after arriving late. Since they closed the bathroom doors, I did not check the bathrooms until they left. They did not speak English well so it was difficult to communicate with them. I was furious, and contacted Brenda via email. She called me quickly and was extremely apologetic and said she would have the cleaners come back out again and clean for free. I specifically told her that I did not want the same two cleaners. She told me, she wouldn't send the same people and would send a supervisor this time. The two ladies showed up on the 2nd appointment on time but the supervisor was the same girl from the 1st time. This time I watched them like a hawk, took them to each room and pointed out what I wanted clean. When I went back to check I noticed that they had the cabinets open in my bathrooms and were using my cleaning supplies. If they needed supplies they should have told me when they arrived. So when I asked them why they were in my cabinets, the "supervisor" said they didn't have anything to clean the toilets with. So I grabbed the bleach and pinesol and poured it in all the toilets. No wonder the toilets weren't cleaned the first time. Just like before the bathroom doors were closed. So I went in to check and again the floors had not been mopped after I pointed this out when they arrived. They told me they didn't have a mop and the woman went back in the bathroom and started cleaning the floor with a towel. I also had them use my vacuum and I went behind them, moving objects off counters so they would clean under them and moving my plants to make sure they were actually vacuuming all areas and wiping under items. After they left, I knew I would never use them again and thought they obviously have not received training on how to to clean. I never heard from Brenda on a follow up to the second cleaning. I also discovered they used all my shower cleaner and put it back under the cabinet and the bottle was empty. I was glad they actually used a cleaner this time but wished they had thrown it in the trash. My friend purchased the same deal and I "warned" her before they showed up to watch everything they do, go behind them, make sure they have cleaning supplies and make sure they mopped and cleaned all the surfaces not just around items. My friend called and thanked me for the heads up, because the bathroom door was closed and it hadn't been mopped or thoroughly cleaned. She also noticed that they did not arrive with a mop and was able to speak to them in Spanish to find out why they were cleaning so poorly. Here is what she discovered: - They are paid $12 an hour and live in Richmond -They are responsbile for paying for their own gas to clients all around the Bay Area ( I live in Clayton, far from Richmond when gas is $4.00 a gallon and they need to go to multiple clients) -They must buy their own cleaning supplies, its not subsidized by the company. (It's ridiculous that the employees must pay for their own supplies on the wage they earn) -Their only cleaning supplies were comet and a windex multi-purpose cleaner to sanitize. (No wonder my house didn't smell clean) -She asked why they didn't mop the floor and the same woman said her mop broke a few weeks prior and she hasn't replaced it. (That solves the mystery of the floors not being mopped and she probably could not afford to replace it.) It saddens me to write this because I understand what a negative review can do to a business. However, Brenda should be ashamed of herself! She is sending workers out to clients without the proper supplies and not subsidizing there gas. No wonder they are doing a crappy job! They are probably completely disgrunteled after only making $4 an hour because they have to pay for Brenda's expenses out of their own pocket. I hope Brenda reads these reviews and realizes that she needs to ensure her workers are trained and better equiped when she sends them out to someones home! I will never use her service again and I'm going back to my normal house cleaner. read more

I've always used individual cleaners, not a service, but I decided to bite on the Brenda's cleaning service on Living Social. It took a bit of time on the phone to schedule, and I specifically added on time to get things really clean. The cleaners did not show up on time (within a 1.5 hour window) and I spent about 15 min waiting on the phone to talk to someone, then she couldn't reach them by cell phone for about 15 minutes. The pair finally showed 40 minutes late - no apology provided. I offered them water, tried to be pleasant. I got the feeling they were insulted that my place was dirty - like, yes, that's why I hired you! I had cleared away junk from all areas so they didn't have to deal with that. As far as cleaning - not great. They cleaned the kitchen but didn't even clean the sink out - two dishes there, and didn't even wipe it down. The kitchen floor wasn't cleaned either. They didn't ask if I wanted them to spend more time - as I had asked and agreed to? Huh? They left lickety spilt about 5 minutes before the end of the Living Social time, completely missing out on their extra hour, but on the whole, I'm glad I didn't spend more. I'll finish off the rest on my own. read more

5 years later I feel the same about Brenda's! Wonderful people. Very professional & easy to work with. Don't hesitate to call them!

Do not sign up with this service. They are terrible. I've had a situation TWICE with them where I book service (regular apartment cleaning) with them - they tell me that cleaners will show up between 2 - 3pm and I take time off of work and wait in the apartment for cleaners to arrive and NO ONE shows up / nor do they call. I then reach out to them via phone / email and then get a response from Brenda telling me that one of the cleaners had something come up and will not be able to clean the apartment today. Yep - not as though any of us have anything better to do than to sit in the apartment and wait for the cleaners to show up. Not only do they not show up - but they also don't bother calling you / emailing you to let you know that they are not coming. In addition - I bought a voucher for this service for 3 hour cleaning and even with 2 people cleaning the apartment - they leave in 45 minutes. Thankfully the apartment is relatively clean but really the service they provide is nothing special. It's cleaning that you can get someplace and someone that will actually show up when they tell you that they will. read more

While scheduling was fairly simple the cleaning is another matter. I purchased the cleaning on LIving Social and used it because I am having a party this week-end. Such a mixed experience with Brenda's Cleaning Personnel. In general, the folks on the phone are okay, but not very flexible and I had to make my schedule work with their schedule...even though I called over 3 weeks in advance. When the team for the most current visit was over 45 minutes late, I called the office but never did get a return call. They finally showed up, but I never heard from the office. This is the 3rd time we have had a Brenda's crew to our home....3 different teams, but an overall common experience: between 15-45 minutes late with no explanation with little or no introductions. Barely listened to my requests for prioritizing the cleaning tasks, which is important because my previous experience is that the Brenda's teams are very slow and probably won't be able to complete the house in the 2 hours for 2 people allotted. The most recent team worked hard and give me hope for Brenda's. Another team was a complete waste of my time and the soap they used--one woman managed to get through 2 small bathrooms in 2 hours, while the other one managed to take 2 hours to lightly clean a fairly small kitchen. No time for vacuum or dusting. The third team was more efficient than that, but not by much. They still couldn't get through our relatively small house in 2 hours, with 2 people. It takes me a little under 2 hours by myself, so I can't figure out how it takes them so long. All three teams seem to take their time, which is great if things are completely sparkling afterwards, but if you still have to do half or more of the work yourself after they leave, why bother to have anyone come at all? read more

Brenda's Cleaning was extremely responsive over email and that was helpful when trying to book the cleaning service. I was quoted $85-$129 which is the standard price for a home 600-900 square feet. I was told the cleaners would assess the home and adjust the price based on square footage. I was charged the full $129 and our home is way less than 900 square feet. I was also called the day of to re-schedule which was a little inconvenient given I took time off work to let them in at the agreed upon time. Overall, the cleaning was pretty good we took the time to detail what we wanted done and what they could ignore and overall I was pleased with the cleaning, I just wish they were a little more transparent with the pricing or just straight up say it will be $129. I didn't like being charged the max price with no real explanation and what we asked them to do probably took less than the 3 hours and we asked them to skip making the beds and whatnot. read more
