    a pinball game being played

An acid green bar that has pinball machines and hippie jam bands, sure, why not? They stock and impressive collection of pinball machines that are well maintained. Bremen is kinda like three bars in one, hanging at the bar in the front, Pinball in the middle and folk explosion phishing in the back. It's real pleasant to hang out here in the early afternoon, the regulars seem to know to to work some magic with the digital jukebox and there is always a friendly dog within reach that has the kind of skin that you can grab, stretch and roll up in like a blanket.

All in all a really awesome neighborhood bar that has a stellar drink selection, great bartenders, pinball machines, trivia nights, and free live music in the back room! SOLD! I had a lovely night seeing friends from Milwaukee including fellow Yelp CM Rachel F. She is so lucky she lives in such a fun rocking town, and it was so fun to hang in her zone! As for the Bremen it's kinda divey, but kinda perfect too! Bands have the run of the place when they play there, you run your own sound and all! The bar and band rooms are separated so you can just go to hang out or go to see the show! Met Britta, Dave, and Jason behind the bar all were wonderful and the prices of the drinks were great! They pay bands well and I loved the experience!

Believable: I have friends. Less believable: I have friends that want to meet up at Bremen, sometimes. Surprise: I like it there, sort of. There's something endearing about Bremen. I can't quite put my finger on it. It's not the cruddy bathrooms, the decor or the oft-shady portion of the clientele. Those are all things I do not like about the Bremen. I'm going to focus on the things I do like. They have an awesome staff. The bartenders are all friendly, attentive and willing to go out of their way to make you happy. No joke. They have food, now, I'll be honest, I haven't eaten their food. But you know what I like about Bremen having food? I like that I have young friends, who may, time to time, imbibe a little more than their fair share, and if we're at Bremen, they can stuff their faces. Bremen has shuffleboard. If you know me you know I like shuffleboard. Sure, it's not free, but it is functional and isn't anywhere near the stage... or the bathroom. What else do I like about Bremen? Ample bike parking, outdoor seating, and it's never so packed that you can't find a place to sit down. Oh, hey- they have a huge stack of board games, too. One thing I don't like about Bremen- a brief warning... Don't let your bag/coat out of your eye-line. Srsly. C'mon.

I really like this place. I was looking for a laid back dive bar that reminded me of Cole's or the Empty Bottle in Chicago and the Bremen Cafe fit the bill. Unpretentious, laid back, and friendly with a fairly good but limited beer list. I have noticed that Milwaukee is not about having 40 beers on tap, but having just a few good ones from Milwaukee Brewing, Lakefront, and all the beers your gram-pa drank in the 1950s. I got a call from an old friend who was part of the Riverwest scene back in the early 1990s when we were all having bands play our living rooms or trying to open galleries in old appliance stores and vacant buildings in Riverwest and he said he was playing a show, and that I would love the Bremen Cafe so I headed up to my old neighborhood. So, what's it like in this place? First, my friend Peter H played a great set, and the bartenders here were great. We goofed off, talked philosophy, politics, and everything else with an interesting collection of people and drank a lot of PBR. If you can't drink PBR and not feel silly in Milwaukee where can you....right? The main act - a touring act - blew off the venue and a local band that sounded like a young Bob Dylan played instead and were downright awesome. Our bartender - a little punker who said she was bad with names - and I am bad with names too - was awesome. What to know: Cafe during the daytime/ Bar during the night time Great place.

One of the bar tenders there is very rude to customers. Not worth dealing with it considering the alcohol.

The special was a grilled cheese and meatloaf sandwich (with a side of their special pineapple coleslaw) The sand- wich was large was toasted to perfection. It even had pickles on it. It was different and seriously delicious!! My daughter-in-law had the mac 'n cheese with chicken strips. It looked amazing. The portion was so big, she had to take half of it home. The salads are huge and one of those will be my next choice. This bar as been around for years. (the owners retired) There is live music often and there are two area with tables, one in the primary bar room and another where the band would be. There are also booths along the back wall. The bar was clean and the new owner, Caleb, was very friendly. I bet people don't think of George's as a lunch or dinner destination, but I highly recommend it.

Lots of live music, and the joint really does get jumping! It has everything a music venue needs. The area around the stage area is expansive. The other feature, is a bar area off to the side, so if you need a break from loud rock and roll (but who needs a break from that!) to chat with your friends, there it is. Friendly bartenders, great drink specials, nice pours, CLEAN BATHROOMS. They also have delicious Heineken 0.0 if you do not wish to imbibe (as I did not on the night I was there), but still want to look and feel like you're drinking a beer. Try that too! At Georges!

Staff was not prepared at all, actually telling people the guy who usually does speech did not come and they do not know what to say actually. For any alcohol you will buy you will pay in addition which is fine BUT the price for that drink(s) will be surprising you a lot. For 5 sake drinks the bill was around $370. Last two glasses were having less sake than first glasses we were provided, probably because people who already drunk something would not notice the difference. It's ok to have expensive alcohol pairing with high end dinner but in this case the sake was very regular. By the way, at bar 10 steps away from the Dark room (same hotel, same floor, same the floor area) the same sake did cost $23 for two glasses. Well... I understand people try to run business and earn money but everything should not cross some decency borders. These guys did cross the line in my opinion. Alcohol prices are not mentioned in Menu by the way. I do not recommend this place not only due to drinks pricing policy but due to "ok" food/service/price ratio

Unfortunately, this second dinner was even worse than the first. The rice was undercooked, the short ribs were dry, and the scallops were gritty. I realize that, for some people, the Buy One, Get One promotion is a big draw. However, I suspect that the menu prices are inflated to offset the BOGO savings, so it doesn't end up being much of an actual benefit. My wish is that they would focus on improving the quality and consistency of the food and charge prices that appropriately cover their costs while still allowing them to make a profit. I don't think we'll be coming back anytime soon, which is sad because there is so much to like about the location and atmosphere.

Buckle up and keep your arms and hands inside this review…read more.. I was in town for a special occasion where my friends wanted to take me somewhere for a great steak dinner. One of my good friends was recommended F&H's, so that's where he choose to take me. First off the restaurant looks wonderful. Think country club, lodge, or your wealthy uncles house in the burbs...no complaints We arrived around 7pm on a Thursday night. I should have seen the red flags when we were first sat down. Red flag #1, the restaurant was somewhat empty for a dinner night. Red flag #2, the menu was a bit pricey, but understandable considering that this was supposed to be a premier steak house. Red flag #3, paper napkins and cheap silverware *think school cafeteria. When ordering, we should have picked up on the quality of what we were getting ourselves into was going to be low, when we learned that the $68 ribeye steak dinner, or any of the steak dinners were BOGO (Buy One Get One free). My friend ordered his steak well done (I know sacrilegious), and I had ordered mine medium...our steaks came out at the same time. The entrees were plentiful and picture worthy (I don't take pics of my food, I eat it!) I cut into my steak anticipating a soft, buttery bite and it was a little tough. I didn't give it much of a thought, I continued to slice through anticipating a more tender bite...nope. I tried another...nope. I tried a different side of the steak...nope. It actually got worse! I typically am not the kind of guest who complains, but in theory this was a $68 steak! This should have been tender to the knife, easy in the mouth, and full of flavor. The steak was one of the worse steaks I've had in a very long time! I couldn't hold back, so I mentioned something to the server. He was apologetic of my comments and immediately called one of the managers over to hopefully rectify the issue. The manager tried his best to defend the kitchen, and to justify that once in a while it happens, and guiltily offered to remake my meal, but stating, "well you know that it would take at least 15 minutes to remake"...I honestly was put off about the quality of the first one, and the look of my friends I was fine not eating. The manager then comes back and says, "well since these are BOGO, I won't be able to take it off the check...you'll still have to pay full price for the one"...so he then re-offered to have the kitchen remake the meal. I told him, "no thank you, I'm good", but then I thought to myself, NO! I had them make another meal to go for my friend to take home. In theory, the manager should have saved his offer, not wasted the time or food in remaking it. He should have discounted the one steak that my friend ended up eating, had just apologized, and have moved on. Now I've had a few days to ponder on it, and use the power of the internet to voice my experience. I have many friends and family who live in the area. I will spread my experience, and they will continue to spread what they had heard, and ultimately what could have been made right should have been done that night. Super easy fix...serve a delicious, well cooked piece of meat. Fix/Solve a guests/customers concern right away, no questions asked. Leave the guests/customers feeling satisfied, so that they leave happy, and the possibility to give you a second chance. My review won't prevent anyone from visiting your restaurant, but it will absolutely make them debate if it's worth the effort
