We stopped at Malone's on a Sunday Funday afternoon and liked it very well. Inside, there's a standard bar setup with surprisingly clean bathrooms. No food (I think) but you're here for well poured drinks and a fine 2 for $5 special (a macro brew and a shot of Irish whiskey). It was quiet inside as we were there on a Sunday afternoon, but the bartender was cool and friendly. They even had a reasonably drinkable wine which was both unexpected and welcome. It's an odd shotgun style bar on Brady street with a vibrant and vocal contingency of regulars. It's a nice spot to catch games since it's not as crowded as Club Brady or The Nomad. Bartenders are hit and miss, as with any Brady Street establishment. Some are great and friendly, others ignore you unless they know you. The crowd can get quite boisterous and cross some lines that might cause discomfort (i.e. some regulars can get handsy or pop off with off-color statements, not jokes, statements). Drinks are on par pricewise, but they have an eclectic selection of tappers (although like most of Brady, Third Space has a strong presence). All that being said, I don't mind Malone's. read more

I wish I could give this place a better review. The drinks were good. Had a good time until I was held down and groped at the bar. When I complained to the bartender and asked for the man to be removed, the bartender responded with "I didn't see it, what do you want me to do?" Malone's is a chill spot. It's one of those bars you step into and kind of forget where you came from. I really love this place and it's cozy as home. I often forget I'm on Brady St. when I get up in the place. The service is top notch and the ambiance is relaxing. Full transparency, we only came for a couple drinks, so our experience does not in any way reflect the food. We stopped in on a 40-something pub crawl of sorts on a Friday evening. Being from out of town, we wanted the full Brady Street experience and this place was on our list of stops. The bar is small but cozy. Some steps to get in be aware of that if you are navigating ADA at all. The seating is well laid out given the space with stools at the large bar and then bench seating around the perimeter. Service was relatively attentive given the layout being somewhat restrictive for serving anyone not sitting at the bar. There was a single TV so this would not be a recommended spot to watch any sports events. The music was goo and not too loud so you could actually have a conversation with your date. Note to the bartenders: you may want to rethink wearing loose crop tops unless you wanna give the pervs sitting at the bar a full view of your girls! (not us, we were sitting at the perimeter watching the peekers). The rub I had with this place was the laughably small bathrooms. I mean uncomfortably comically small. Like meant for children. In the men's room, if you need to sit at the stool, then prepare to hover. Not for sanitation reasons, but because the length of your leg from hip to knee will physically prevent you from being able to sit on the seat unless you are a circus-grade contortionist. Also, the bar may want to pay attention to the horizontals behind the benches. I made the mistake of placing my arm around the date and ruined my shirt from the smeg-like substance that coated the whole surface back there. read more

I've been coming here for years because of the friendly staff and owners. One thing that draws me in always is the cheap drinks and overly friendly (in the best way possible) owners who make sure they remember you. I was worried going out because of covid but I trust the owners here and I must admit I'm shocked. They are constantly cleaning everything, they have hand sanitizer all along the bar and are following the sitting mandate perfectly. This is definitely a place I would recommend to come to if you need to leave the house and are worried about Covid and need a good laugh. read more

This is my go to bar on Brady street. If you are looking for a smaller, laid back, chill hangout this is where you want to be. The bartenders are friendly, usually pretty efficient, and they will get to know you if you want them to! The drinks are fairly priced and made well. The music is great-and they will even take requests if it is appropriate for the bar! In the summer the front windows open and it gives it a whole new feel that I love! The only issue I can see is that this bar is becoming a bit more popular which means it is more crowded. Definitely a bar worth checking out on Brady Stree! read more

I thought overall the guest at Malone's were well satisfied.. either they had any drinks before hand or they were delusional regulars. I walked in with my mother after eating at the crab shack from across the street. They carded her even though she's obviously over age! Rules are rules right? I met the bartenders (Molly) and she's quite a mix. She isn't friendly business but business only. I brought a round of shots be 2 drinks and complimented her about the bar and her hair and she straight ignored me...I felt offended I closed out immediately, and she had to nerve to perk around for my me to buy another one 15 min after I was done with my first round. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. Last night there was a "very professional" bartender who was being a dick to me and my boyfriend about some pull tabs. They were trying to tell me that one of my winning pull tabs were not theirs and they don't want to cash it out. Which is fine it's just a dollar and I really don't care but it wasn't my fault that you have an issue with your entertainment machines. He yelled at my boyfriend that he is not going to cash them out and I told him I will speak with owner about him loosing his job because he was nothing but a tool and drunk so he was polite enough to pull 2 middle fingers on us as we left. Great people and the owners are always there, making sure fun is to be had by all. But it Brady Street, and Brady is the best of Milwaukee.

My girlfriend and I came here from out of town with some friends. Watch out for one of the staff members. He appeared intoxicated and grabbed my girlfriend from behind. After he noticed me he claimed it was a mistake and that he thought it was his gf. It wasn't until 30 minutes after the incident that we noticed he worked there. We approached him and he confirmed that he wasn't the owner but was a manager. We told him that his actions were inappropriate and it's not how you treat women. He couldn't even look us in the eye or apologize. It's safe to say we will never be back to this establishment. read more

Milwaukee is finally open and I head over to the best bar on Brady to see Joe Malone. Well my euphoria was killed by the midget behind the bar. What a jerk. A short bearded guy who would not shut up. The $5 Tully and a beer was a great deal but I'd pay $15 for this little man to sit in a corner and "Shut Up". I'll be back but if he is behind the bar I'm leaving. read more

I really like this place. Actually, I'm still here! I'm impressed by how clean it is and how nice the decor is -- love the wall color, and the photographs on the wall are very nice! The bartender -- who is GORGEOUS, by the way -- mixes a mean gin and soda! I will definitely be back. :) read more

Malone's is weird. I like Malone's. Upon entering, you might run into a bunch of really loud bros who are a little too old to be really loud bros. It's very small and you will be forced to be right next to these bros. Don't let this ruin your impression of the bar. They have some good beer-and-shot specials. What you should really go for is the mixed drinks. I typically stick with beer, but after sitting at the bar and watching the bartenders pour obscenely strong drinks, I opted to go that route. Speaking of the bartenders, everyone who was working, despite how busy the bar was, was very nice and personable. That attitude goes a long way. Not a place I would go if I wanted to quietly enjoy a good beer, but I will definitely be back! read more

Nice little dive bar to grab a drink. It's a very small place. If you get a seat at the bar or one of the few table tops - you're golden. The waitstaff is friendly. The drinks are on par. If you're looking for a place to just grab a drink, this will work. It's nothing fancy - but you don't always need bells and whistles, right?! read more

Simple, yet perfect in Simplicity. Why I liked Malone's: - I came into the bar on a Tuesday night and was able to get a spot right at the bar (in a chair with a back not a barstool) and sit at a brand new wood bar that isn't too high or too low and doesn't stick out too far - very comfortable seating. - Half the beers on tap I didn't recognize, several several craft beers in cans and bottles - the bartender let me sample the taps before I chose which one to order. - The bartender turned on the game we came to watch and gave us the option to play the audio over the speakers - The prices are average for craft beer ($5) but you can drink $2 PBR all night - They have an awesome video blackjack game that you can play with up to 3 people and you can make real money on (and it isn't riggid) - Cool atmosphere with candles at the bar, dimly lit, clean, and not too loud - The bartender gave us free fireball shots when our team won and advanced to the tournament and he helped us cheer them on all game long For a solid, not overcrowded bar on Brady street with a great beer selection, fair prices, and comfortable seating - I'll come to Malone's. I was not a fan. I miss the old Bruno's that was here and now it just seems trendy and far to modern. I didn't care for the decor or lighting. The staff was friendly enough, but that was about it. I was only in here once for a couple of beers but I really liked the place. There's a great beer selection on tap and in bottles. It's seems a million miles away from the former tenant Bruno's. Although I do miss Bruno's and the faux brick walls behind the bars. I was here during the day and it was pretty quiet, which was fine for me because I could see it getting a little crowded and hipster oriented on weekends. This is one of the finer bars on Brady st. I'd pick it over any of the others, its an older crowd, which is laid back and you can enjoy watching the game while having a drink or meeting up with friends to have a good time. The owners and employees are all good people, I got a good intuition about people and if there was one bar I'd go to and will continue going to is Malone's! They employees make you feel like family from door guy to bartender. I recommend going here if your looking for a good time, or just to relax.
