We had been a long-standing customer since 2020. They repaired our HVAC several times over the past years. Recently, our air conditioning stopped working and we contacted them. The technician informed us we needed a new unit. We would have happily had B&T install the unit, except for the attitude of the owner when questioned about the invoice for the service call. They charged us for the following: Service Call $99.44 + Labor Rates $89.44 + Gas/Trip/Admin $17.41 - All to tell us we cannot repair the air conditioner and would need a new unit starting at $14,016.05. The owner argued with me for 30+ minutes on the phone and refused to refund the service call even if I purchased a new unit from them. In the meantime, I contacted Boer Brothers who sent a technician to check our air conditioning unit. We were told we needed to replace our existing unit and were not charged for the service call whether or not they replaced the unit. This review is strictly directed toward the owner of B & T HVAC and his extremely poor treatment of a long standing customer. I suppose if you do not question any of their nickel and dime charges, you may have a better experience than we had.

I filed a complaint with the North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Plumbing, Heating and Fire Sprinkler Contractors at http://www.nclicensing.org/ The venting problems and code violations were discovered by a licensed HVAC repair company in Carrboro NC. I had them check my system after reading a news article in N&O about Craft in August 2017. The article raised suspicions about the quality of his character/ work. Expensive lesson learned.

Started off with calling A&E HEATING when the AC went out in my condo (8 unit condo). They came…read moreout promptly after mentioning the diagnoses would be $95. Diagnosis was made in about 30 minutes, using my help to turn the AC on and off to quickly identify it, and they charged $145 without notifying me of the up charge. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. When asked why the up charge: "large complexes are not residential and require more time to identify the AC unit." I would have been less upset if he would have just said before identifying the AC unit that there would be an up charge for identifying the unit. You never just charge the customer and explain later. It took me calling and two weeks later to get someone out to provide an estimate. They mentioned they tried to call but couldn't get through. Fair enough but they had both my email and phone number. When he made it out he was very professional and mentioned he would have an estimate in a couple of days. I never got one. During the wait for the A&E estimator to come out, someone mentioned BOER BROTHERS. I should have called them first. 24hrs to get an estimate which was very competitive. Installed as soon as the parts arrived. Very simple, professional, and so very nice all the way around: receptionist, scheduler, estimator, and installer. I can't recommend them enough. Don't mess around with anyone else.

It seems to have gone downhill since it was sold. I unfortunatley, purchased my HVAC unit from them shortly after the sale and could not be more disappointed.
