After hearing all the hype of this place I finally got to check it out. They were having a pop up from Fuego Flan. And let me tell you we will be back. When you first pull up you aren't sure what to expect since it looks like a dive hole in the wall local joint. But when you walk in you get the local vibe feel. It's cash only so make sure you have cash when you go but if not they have an atm inside. They have a good selection of beer and seltzers that most places this size wouldn't have which for me is important since I'm pretty picky. The food was massive and delicious. I had the steak and cheese and they just stuff it with meat. It was very good, very cheesy. I was stuffed after the first half of my sandwich. My boyfriend had the Breen burger. He thought it was very good as well. The bread was massive and looked fresh. Both came with HUGE pickles and regular potato chips. I left full and very satisfied. I can't believe it took me 16 years of living in Worcester to visit. I will definitely be returning here & recommend checking it out. read more

I went to Breen's after reading about The Barstool Fund helping them weather the COVID downturn. On Facebook the thing to get is one of their burgers. I went for a cheeseburger and a beer. On seeing it come my way you bet your bottom dollar it was huge. I was a solid five guys fan before this no more I found my new go to place. I made a return trip two days later to try the steak/cheese sub which also gets accolades of positive comments on facebook. I am planning on coming back again to try their award winning clam chowder. read more

Having experienced Breen's before the renovation, it is now much more cheery and cozy. The crowd was near capacity. The Bruins game was on 6 large screen TV's. The Breen's burger is the best I've tasted. The service was swift and accurate. The staff couldn't be more pleasant and friendly. The owner herself greeted us personally. Super comfortable neighborhood pub. I got the feeling that most people here were regulars, but I didn't feel out of place or unwelcome. The drinks are great. Skip the beer, its nothing very exciting, and get something with liquor. I went with a gin and tonic, which was served in a pint glass. The default gin is Tanqueray and this whole, marvelous thing will only set you back $5.50. And it will knock your socks off. The margarita is also very good, similarly strong, and huge. Oh, and there's a leprechaun holding a bottle of Schlitz painted on the ceiling which has probably been there considerably longer than I've been alive. I like this place. The only thing holding back a 5th star is the lack of Gansett on draft, which is what I typically drink in places like Breens. Despite what it says on yelp, they are cash only. read more

My first time at Breens was this past Sunday and it was so great my sister and I came back today for lunch. Boy did we make a mistake. Let me start by saying both my sister and I have worked in service, so we have compassion for how difficult and disrespected food and beverage work often is and love dive bars. The bar was nearly empty and we pulled up a stool. The older lady behind the bar was busy yelling at a customer, so we patiently waited. When she finally took our order, I asked for a dark and stormy and she rudely yelled at me demanding to what was in the a dark and stormy. My sister ordered a Magners in a bottle and was given some pink drink in a glass. Not a big deal and she didn't complain. This lady bar tender was screaming at everyone and very angry. It's a dive bar, and that's why we went, but it seriously felt like Dicks Last Resort. She was so angry and rude it might have been comical, but it wasn't. I politely tried to catch her attention to order a cheddar bacon burger, the whole reason we stopped in, and I got yelled at. We had enough at that point. When I said I'm going to cash out, she got even more angry and said she'd take my order. Very cooly and calmly I laid 20 bucks on the bar and told her she's rude and we walked out. I was ready to spend money. I wanted to eat your delicious food. I had such ak great time Sunday. Not today. I can only imagine this angry old woman working the bar this past weekend. I honestly feel bad for her and I can only hope her day gets better but if this is what folks can expect for service I don't know why anyone would patronize Breens. Please tell me this is not normal. The sandwiches are cheap and they are very good! We had a BLT and a chicken parmesan sandwich, and unlike most places they used real chicken so it was delicious. The BLT was very good as well! Definitely worth stopping in!! read more

Nice bar cold beer chef/owner doesn't take care of food. Handled uncooked meats then makes sandwiches without so much as a hand wipe.
