Craved boba after grabbing dinner with my friends in Walnut Creek. Seems like every boba shop closes after 8pm in the area. Thankfully Breaktime Tea wasn't too far away in Concord. The shop was empty except for the owner when we walked in and it made us sad but we were happy to be able to support and give them business. I ordered a roasted oolong milk tea and it wasn't too burnt or bitter tasting. Perfect ratio of tea to milk. I definitely want to try the butterfly coconut drink next time. The menu features your typical boba shop offerings of milk teas, fruit tea and snacks like popcorn chicken. I dropped by after having dinner at 88 BaoBao for a sweet drink with my family. I ordered the oolong tea with boba, which was pretty good. And as a milk tea drink, I usually try to steer clear from sugary, sweet, powder-filled drinks and so based on the taste of my drink -- I was content with how it tasted. As for service, we received our drinks pretty fast which was impressive since it was just one man behind the counter. Ambiance is clean and quiet, but it seems to be missing something! Perhaps it's missing touches that will make the space cozy. I'm not sure if it needs a couch or cushions on the seats but those sorts of touches may encourage customers to hang out and keep the space occupied. Overall, great place to get your milk tea fix! I absolutely love this place, especially their Blend Blast fruit smoothies--they make them so fresh and tasty! You can also request less sweet and less ice which is perfect. Their classic milk tea is pretty solid too. Was starting my new job in the area and we had a nice long break. I was craving some fruit tea during my break, so I checked Yelp and this place popped up for me. Just going down Oak Grove Road, and I was able to locate it on the corner. Strawberry and Lychee Green Tea with Mango Bits. I opted for the "build your own" style since the pre-mades did not appeal to me as much. Overall, the drink was refreshing but a bit sweet for me. I didn't quite taste the lychee flavor, just mainly the strawberry and green tea. The mango bits I enjoyed a lot, it added a bit more texture and flavor to my drink. I couldn't tell if I was able to adjust my sweetness, but I would definitely bring it down to 50 or 30% due to how sweet it really was. Upon entering this boba shop situated on a small corner shopping center, there was some promise. Cite interior spaces, airy and bright, and a busy afternoon crowd were early but deceiving indicators. We ordered one popcorn chicken, one avocado smoothie and one oolong milk tea with boba topping. Prices are definitely on the high and expensive end, probably at least 15-25% higher than other places. Our order came out at an acceptable amount of time given the afternoon crowd. The milk tea was typical, the avocado smoothie was on the watery side amd the popcorn chicken taste was a bit off in whatever seasoning they use. Since moving here we've been on a mission to finding great boba near us, and this one is hard to break away from. I loved customizing the sugar level. This used to be standard but I feel like places have gotten away from it, and I really appreciate it. It also keeps me coming back much much more when I know I can control the sweetness of my drink. I love the mango strawberry peach smoothie. It's incredible how well you can taste each of the fruits in the drink, instead of most smoothies where one overpowers them all. We have also tried the Thai and the matcha tea, which is more of a fresh matcha flavor. My favorite has to be the brown sugar milk tea, which has incredible flavor. I look forward to trying one of their mojito inspired drinks, which are popular and look as delicious as they sound. I love the super cute lids. I also love that this place has classic drinks along with specialty drinks, such as tiramisu milk tea, which I look forward to trying in the future. When the lady handed me the drink it was iced and when I told her I ordered it hot, she said they don't make it as a hot drink. Not sure how I feel about this place. The place looks really nice but as far at the drinks the fruit tea was overly sweet and the " Vietnamese coffee" taste like watered down instant coffee. Boyfriend felt bad so they didn't want to say anything. I've always visited the Breaktime locations in the South Bay so I was surprised to see that there was a Concord location. I came by on a pretty slow day so I was the only one there. Service is friendly and attentive. There was only one person there when I went but he regularly checked in while I was waiting for my food. Overall, pretty chill ambience like other boba places out there: top40 and kpop music playing, board games to play, and ample seating for customers. My order: - Lychee green tea with boba: really refreshing and not too sweet. The boba was nice, chewy, and warm, which is usually a plus for me. - Garlic fries: MY FAVORITE from this order! Breaktime Tea was something I had been somewhat excited to try out since they opened up right before I left for my winter trip, so never had a chance until I got back. The place is cute, the ambience is definitely a small hangout spot kind of atmosphere, but there's not a lot of tables inside, so won't accommodate too many people. It's right next to several schools, almost like dead center to them, so this place could get busy during after school hours as traffic will increase significantly. The prices of the drinks here are rather expensive, and when considering there's several boba places in all directions, it's still kind of expensive even with that in mind. But they're not a chain like the other spots, so it's understandable. The staff that helped me on this day was mediocre, but I'll give them a pass and will have to see how this goes in future visits, assuming I ever come back. The most egregious part though was that if you ask for no ice here, they are completely ridiculous with the quantity, and basically just takes a chunk out of your $7+ drink, that isn't even really that large of a size of a cup. I mean, just look at the pictures. One of my biggest gripes is stuff like this with boba spots when you ask for no ice/less ice, and they just skimp you on it complete, unashamedly. The worst part about it though was that it wasn't even good. The boba itself looked and tasted like it was those pre-made kinds, as you can tell it wasn't even in round globes, and in oddly shaped chunks. When you bite through it, there wasn't even a chewy core in there. The passion fruit tea itself was watered down (even though I had asked for no ice), and you can still see the strips of syrup floating inside there like seaweed floating in water, because the person who mixed it hadn't mixed it fully enough. Perhaps, I'll find my way back at some point in the future, but this was probably one of the worst boba experience I've had in a long time, and that's saying something. read more

[3.5 stars but rounding up] A "new" boba shop in town and I didn't know about it?! You know what that means... I definitely had to try it out! This place has their soft opening on October 24, 2022. First thing's first: located on Oak Grove Road and Treat Blvd (across the street from Trader Joe's) which is convenient for a post-shopping treat! However, there are double yellow lines on Oak Grove Rd, so I recommend going down on Treat Blvd and turning into plaza when you get the chance. The plaza has plenty of parking so that will never be an issue. Items ordered: 1) Passionfruit green tea, less sweet, with aloe vera 2) Okinawa milk tea, less sweet, less ice, with honey boba 3) Popcorn chicken Review of items: [+1 star] - Passionfruit green tea: My first thought was "wow, this is very sweet considering I asked for 25% sweet". Turns out they don't do percentages for sweetness, but in terms of "none", "less", and "normal". The passionfruit flavor was subtle but that's mostly due to the fact that I asked for a light amount of sweetness. For the aloe vera topping, it was standard but bonus points [minus 0.5 star] 2) Okinawa milk tea: This was my friend's drink and he said it tasted as expected but the honey boba could use more of the honey flavor since it wasn't very prominent. The texture was perfectly cooked - soft and chewy. If the topping was just called "boba", the topping would've sufficed. But since the name is "honey boba", needs more of that kick. [+1 star] Drinks came out very fast and it was only the owners (mom and pop) working! [-1 star] 3) popcorn chicken: We ordered this to share and was asked for spice level. We opted for non-spicy. Again, the order came out very fast despite only two people working. Upon first glance, it looked very textbook. However, upon trying it, both my friend and I thought it lacked flavor (like there wasn't any salt and pepper). The popcorn chicken was accompanied by a container of sweet and spicy sauce (not pictured), which helped! Although the pieces were in the bigger side, we didn't mind it. Additionally, we found two bones in two separate pieces so maybe smaller pieces would've prevented that? Or would've helped the preparers spot the bones easier? Just a thought. [+1 star] Very clean and friendly service! Plus they are part of a loyalty program. As part of your first visit, you get 25 points. Our two drinks totaled to 25. Together it was 50 points and you only need 60 to get your first reward of a free drink! I got a text and an email with a "free drink with any purchase" deal for my birthday, and I was excited. I got to the store, ordered two drinks, and I also saw the very same "free drink with any purchase" deal on the reward screen at the store, so I hit "redeem". After I hit the "redeem" button, the screen now showed a blank circle for the store staff to "stamp" to indicate the deal was used. The staff stamped it but only later told me that the deal was either 20% off the total bill or get a THIRD drink for free. I was beyond confused because now I was required to get a third drink (which I wouldn't need) just to get my free birthday drink. I tried to show them the deal I got in my email, but the staff immediately dismissed it and said it was "for the San Jose store", which I had NEVER EVER visited so it would be utterly impossible for me to be signed up for the San Jose store's reward system. It certainly felt like the staff just made up an explanation right on the spot and it didn't even make any sense. Btw, the email I got did not mention it was for the San Jose location, so I don't know where they got that knowledge. It felt made up to me. But I didn't want to argue so I just took the 20% off deal, which wasn't too bad but the situation definitely sucked. Every drink I've ever ordered here is delicious, my personal favorite is the mango mojito, but the grapefruit sunrise is another favorite, and when I'm craving something decadent, the Vietnamese iced coffee is the one for me - heavenly. I just came from Breaktime Tea! I went on a Sunday at around 3pm. It's located on a busy main road but it's in a plaza where Oil Changers and a Subway is located. There is a parking lot in the plaza where they're located as well. It was empty when we stopped by so we were able to get our drinks quickly! We ordered: - Mango green milk tea with boba - Taro green milk tea with boba - Mango mojito with boba - Lychee green tea with boba I enjoyed my mango milk tea drink! The boba was perfectly chewy. There's only one size for drinks it seems - their cup is like a large at other boba spots. My husband ordered the mango mojito and it was very very sweet. I wish the mangos were fresh mango bits but I think it might be frozen bits. Service was great - the man and the woman working there were both very nice. The space was clean and decorated well. There's some tables with chairs for folks to hang out. There's also a bathroom in the back. The decor around the shop was cute - very simple with some succulents/greenery.
