We were thrilled to be able to host our friends and neighbors for a sushi dinner class taught by Chef Adam. He traveled to Austin, in preparation for his move here, and researched local shopping options prior to our dinner experience. I think one of the best parts of having Breakfast, Life and Dinner come in and host a dinner party with you is that Adam does ALL the grocery shopping in advance! He brings in the supplies and ingredients that you need. PRICELESS!! Adam not only spent time educating us on knife skills but his style of teaching was approachable and entertaining. No matter your level of skill in the kitchen, the regular cook, the novice cook, the never cooks, even my kids were able to find ways to be involved in the process. We made a refreshing cucumber salad, the best miso soup we had ever had (it was unanimously agreed!) and a variety of sushi rolls and pieces. The menu was our choice but he described other meal options that are great recipes that are repeatable for even a weeknight dinner. It really is a lot of fun and such a unique way to get together with a small group to share creating and eating a meal together. I contracted Adam's culinary coaching for myself and my mother - both of us had a fantastic experience. Adam is superbly friendly, funny, efficient, and damn near an encyclopedia of interesting dishes and ingredients. We bashfully asked to learn an Asian-fusion sort of meal with sweet and savory flavors; on that limited description, we felt the resulting menu (crab noodle salad; seaweed salad; juicy-gingery pork wontons with plum sauce) expanded on the concept in a pleasant and creative direction. This was 1 of 3 meals for that session. Others included a tasty spicy chili and several loaves of fresh-baked bread. It *is* an instructive service, so you are invited and involved in the process as directly as you want to be. My advice - bring a notepad or ask about recordings, so you can hold onto tips about kitchen prep, sanitization, heat control, knife skills - ask him about honing & sharpening! - skillet care, soups & sauces, and other things we asked about that I can't think of right now. Price was very reasonable for the yield, which fed us heartily for a week; but that probably depends on what you ask for. Adam can work with dietary restrictions - one of us has an acid aversion that was discussed and neatly managed. Great business for a dinner party or other weekend occasion. read more

My family and friends have enjoyed three in home cooking classes in addition to one of Adam's community classes. Adam is a delight. He brings enjoyment and fun to cooking. His in-home classes are designed around your specific wishes and he makes the entire process simple and easy. Beyond just cooking an excellent meal, what I really appreciate is that he brings excellent educational value both in general cooking skills and nutrition. Two of our classes were for our children and their friends. He made the experience fun and educational and since the classes each of our children has taken a greater interest in cooking, but perhaps more significantly the importance of nutrition. The adult classes were also fun and entertaining and several of our friends have not hosted as well. Last I find Adams fees extremely reasonable. Once I saw the passion and work Adam puts into each event I felt as if we were not paying him enough. Bottom line I highly recommend Adam and BLD for cooking classes in home, community as well as his excellent in home food preparation. read more

I've worked with Adam with for the entirety of my time at WCIA. He is regular guest appearing in our Kitchen Confidence segment where he takes what appears to be difficult recipes and breaks them down into an easy-to-do fashion for our viewers at home. He is known throughout our newsroom as one of our best and favorite guests. His communication skills are fantastic on multiple fronts. He is great teacher in the way he can get across a point on TV. He can easily break down recipes and techniques to a level the basic viewer at home can grasp. He has also developed a strong ability to work with the cameras and ensure a great viewing experience for those watching at home. Adam also is a great personality on camera. He works well with all of our talent and is conversational and fun when the camera is on. As for his food, it's fantastic. I'm an incredibly picky eater. Adam got me to eat vegetables, which is something my mother struggled with. It's difficult to think of something he's made that I didn't like. read more

Adam is the MAN! He is super passionate and skilled at what he does. I had Adam cook up 5 meals (for 6 people) and I feel pretty confident in my sample size to write him this review. Overall, he's fantastic and I've already got him booked to come back (that says a lot). He made a number of dishes and our favorites were the Crustless Quiche, Sweet Potato mash, Rosemary Chicken, and his Cashe Nut Butter. The Quiche and Sweet Potato mash are incredible and I probably could eat them every day straight without getting bored. The Rosemary Chicken makes eating Chicken so enjoyable... I always feel like Chicken gets boring but I love what he did. Other dishes he made (which were fantastic) -Creamed Spinach Salmon -Pork Loin -Beef Fajitas Yea, I'm excited to work with Adam. Adam was WONDERFUL! My group chose the 5 hour Italian class, and we were so pleased with how everything turned out! Adam is fun, engaging, and showed us tons of easy ways and variations to make absolutely delightful dishes! Time flew by and everybody agreed it didn't feel like a 5 hour class at all because we were having such fun! I must add we all loved how seamless everything went; 5 people in a small kitchen would be crowded but we had PLENTY of room! Whether you're seeking a fun, engaging date night, laid back Sunday with friends and great food, a small group activity, or just want to learn more about the kitchen, this would be a fantastic option! I took a series of lessons from Adam because I was bored with cooking and wanted to find ways to be more efficient and enthusiastic about planning and preparing food for my family. I'm definitely now on that path. Adam listened carefully to my food goals; mine included: ways to prepare meals that work with a week-long menu plan, ways to cook with beans/less meat, family dishes that could be completely vegetarian, basic bread, fun desserts my tween can bake and a decent dinner my teens can make. Now everyone in the family has participated in a cooking lesson from Adam. The lessons were fun, and we have added many of the recipes he taught us to our meal rotation. read more

I purchased a gift certificate for a 4 person Indian cuisine cooking lesson for my daughter, her husband, and their 2 friends. (Very reasonably priced!) After setting up dates and other details, Chef Adam purchased the food, arrived at her friend's home, provided a fantastic lesson, set the table, served them their delicious meal, and cleaned everything up!!!! I've taken a few of Adam's cooking classes, and he is always so helpful and intuitive in his teaching. In between sections of cooking (like while things are simmering or rising), he talks about things like substitutions and kitchen hacks. He believes in having confidence in the kitchen and he really feels that any person can have success when cooking. Plus, everything he has made that I have eaten has been delicious! We had an exceptional time learning how to make sushi! Adam was incredibly knowledgeable and we learned 3 different techniques... traditional, inside out and making sushi out of sushi molds. We started our class making a cucumber salad so that it could marinate while we cooked and prepped everything else. Adam showed us how to make rice for the sushi rolls, miso soup and calamari and seed weed salad. We had a great time learning to make sushi and enjoyed even more eating the meal! I'm a busy lawyer and a triathlete. I meal prep on Sundays but find it impossible to do another round of meal-prepping mid-week. I'm also doing another round of Whole 30 -- cooking and eating real food is paramount. I didn't know how a virtual baking class would go, but signed up and am so glad I did. Adam was as good in a virtual setting as live and in person.
