We heard of Chef Alex through our neighborhood group and decided to have him come to our home for our 2 year wedding anniversary dinner due to not wanting to be inside public spaces. He handled everything, from helping plan the menu to getting the groceries and even cleaning up after he was done. He was great company on top of explaining each part of the meal and what was in it, just like the 5 star places would. That's not even the best part... The magic that happened...ohhh... We stuck the fork full of food in our mouth and it was AMAZING, like eyes rolling into the back of your head best food ever amazing. I think I time warped to the seaside for the scallops and was sitting on a ranch for the steaks... AND THERE WAS ENOUGH FOR LEFT OVERS! I promise you he will be back to cook for us again and I will also tell everyone I can about this experience and his dedication to what he does. I feel like I have the ace in my pocket with this guy. If you're on the fence, get off and just book him. Now.

She is an amazing Chef and she explains every step of the meal preparation and gives you great tips and recommendations. She is a very energetic, positive, amicable person. And above all she is passionate about creating delicious, healthy, and good looking food. I set up a bachelor party for my brother and his 15 friends, we were staying in a house outside of Austin. I knew we were going to have barbecue for lunch and asked Chef Bon to help set up a dinner. She set up a call to discuss a menu and e-mailed me an example of menu items. During our call, she asked all of the necessary questions: how many people, any dietary restrictions, what kind of food, etc. Since my brother likes all kinds of food, she instead asked what restaurants he likes. She said she would revisit the menu items and get back to me. She adjusted the menu to factor in the restaurants and the barbecue we were going to have for lunch. It was a perfect balance to accommodate the attendees and compliment the barbecue from earlier. When we finalized all of the details, she reached out to the house we rented to find out what supplies she needed to cook the dinner. Although they had mostly everything she needed, she still brought her own supplies. All of the preparation culminated to a wonderful, perfect dinner! She had everything prepared on time, explained all of the menu items in detail, and even let you try food in the kitchen while she was preparing the food. She made it feel like we were having dinner at her home. All in all, it was a perfect experience. It was incredibly convenient to have a personal chef, but I couldn't imagine our experience would have been better than Chef Bon.

Highly recommend you try her and her amazing meals as well.

REALLY, you buy this local institutions goods at Farmer's Market. You know what? I will help them out and put the locations at which to purchase this fermented cow milk: Downtown - Republic Square Saturdays 9am-1pm; Sunset Valley - Toney Burger Center Saturdays 9am-1pm; Triangle Park - 46th St & Lamar Wednesdays 3pm-7pm; East 5th & Waller Sundays 11am-3pm. That being said, I have given you a little teaser. Now, look at their website to find stores which distribute their goods. How the heck is this cheese, you ask? It is not bad. Though I found the cheeses to be very one-noted and dry, they were definitely rich--this being the result of utilizing the feed for babies from well-treated cattle. The Especial, Seco, and Classico are all similar in texture, flavor, and overall character. In fact, they are not easily distinguished from one another. They would do fine as a secondary ingredient in a simple dish, such as tacos or quesadillas, but they wouldn't hold up to wine or serve well in a grilled cheese. For the latter 2 items, I would go with their Cheddars, which have a bit more bite. They have a wide selection as compared to other cheeseries in the Austin area, as many seem to really just go after the goat cheese fanatics. Nothing too crazy in terms of production and variety here, but give them a shot. The fermented dairy comes from Texas after all. The people who work here are also super awesome and are ready to take care of you when you have questions or concerns about where your cheese is going. Hehe.. you pay cheese for cheese.

Every single week we are blown away by the flavor, creativity, and care she puts into her cooking. Her meals are so good that we honestly no longer want to eat out. The food she prepares for us at home is consistently better than what we would order at restaurants, and that says everything. Each dish feels intentional, nourishing, and beautifully balanced, with just the right touches to make it feel special without ever being heavy. Every meal has been outstanding, and the consistency is what truly sets her apart. Chef Steph has completely changed the way we eat at home, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found her. If you are considering working with her, do it. You will not be disappointed.

I never thought I'd be able to justify the luxury of a private chef service, but I keep this…read moreservice as a lifeline in my back pocket for weeks that we just need a little extra help, like when the demands of parenting and working during a global pandemic seem extra burdensome. So far, we've had three appointments, and they've all been wonderful. For each one in advance, you choose the time/date for your chef, three entree items and three sides. The "sides" is a bit of a misnomer, as you can often make meals of these in themselves. They include salads, hot breakfast casseroles, pies, and more. Recipes range from Mongolian Beef to Shepherd's Pie, homemade granola bars, Thai Chicken salad, etc. I imagine if we did this weekly, the options might get monotonous, but doing it every once in a while works out well for us so that there are usually a few new options that appear the next time we're ready to book an appointment. For each item you'll see an estimate on how much extra it will add to your bill in groceries in addition to the base chef cost. The chef will stop at your local HEB to shop for your ingredients fresh right before your appointment. You pay a $35 deposit, which you can get refunded if you cancel the appointment by the stated deadline (and they send you frequent reminders -- they're not trying to pull one over). On average with tip and the cost of groceries, we usually spend around $225 for our family of four. The meals last us a while. Sometimes we share them with friends who could use an extra meal, or sometimes we freeze the leftovers. There are instructions for reheating, freezing, etc. As stated in other reviews the chefs are generally efficient and very tidy, leaving your kitchen looking spotless, with a huge amount of prepared food for you to enjoy (it's hard not to dive right in). Communication by text is great. During COVID, the chef has worn a mask during the appointment and the service has had very clearly communication about canceling in the event of COVID exposure, etc. I appreciate that they're taking it seriously. If I had a couple of critiques, it would be that whatever process gets communicated to the chef regarding ingredients might need to be streamlined. The past two appointments, our chef has had to make a couple of grocery store trips because he forgot items, and this prolongs the preparation process. I would also love to see a bit more variety to the menu options. It would be nice to have it broken down roughly by type of dish (seafood, beef, casserole, etc.) and price (budget friendly or special splurge). Other than those minor tweaks, we love the service, and I imagine we'll keep using it as occasional customers.
