We love the Icelandic brown molasses bread. Very good. Most staff is great. Some not so much.

First time here and first time at a Breadsmith. There is one in Plymouth or some other far away suburb in the cities. They were sampling breads and their breads are behind a so called fence. I tried beer cheese bread. This might have been better hot or toasted. I also tried King Cake or bread. Their version was a cinnomin type of bread. I bought a loaf and the girl gave me the tiny plastic baby separately. The place is similar to Great Harvest. We were in the area shopping at thrift stores and killed time by stopping in. If I could give more stars I would! -I work with Fargo Public Schools and wanted our students to experience a real bakery setting in action for our bread unit. I called up Breadsmith on 32nd and pitched the idea of a small tour and maybe demo. The owner was so kind and jumped right on the opportunity! I was so blown away by the care they put in to their thorough demo and even let the students bring home individual pizza dough balls. What a delightful bread shop. My best friend and I stopped in here for one of the regional seasonal specialties it was a dark bread. Very hearty and aromatic. It may have been called Icelandic rye bread. Or Icelandic dark bread. I'm not sure but it should be easy to figure out. I love walking into bread shops because the aroma of sweet and yeast assaults your senses in the most delightful way. Breadsmith has a lovely little tasting area in the front. And offers about two or three different kinds of breads. There is a Specialties table. When I was visiting they had a grouping of different types of cookies. They also have a offering of jams jellies and mustard. Everything you need to elevate your bread. The back wall is filled with loaves of every shape and size. Muffins, cookies, and all sorts of handheld goodies. I tried the Bostock. It is a elevated crunchy French toast. It's a piece of brioche bread that is dredged and coded in an amazing almond slivered topping. I believe it may have been adhere to the bread with marzipan. At least that's the traditional recipe. The Almond topping with light and Chris and had a very distinct lemon accent. It was Pure Heaven. Rich buttery crispy sweet. read more

I ordered their marble rye bread ahead of time because I hadn't found any at the grocery stores and I was making reuben sandwiches for St Patrick's Day. I had picked up a pumpernickel loaf (2.99) at the grocery store just in case. When I picked it up she said they forgot the caramel coloring so it wouldn't look as dark as normal, no big deal. I paid my 6.99 and brought it home. At lunch my husband tasted it and said it tastes just like regular bread. He got a bite with a seed on top and there was a slight rye flavor but otherwise it was just like a regular non rye loaf of bread. I called them and told them that and asked if anyone else had complained. She never answered my questions just read the ingredients and said it was probably because they don't use caraway seeds. I said that I just wanted to let them know because it will keep me from ever buying bread there again and she said thanks for letting us know. We will be using the pumpernickel loaf from the grocery store, very disappointed. read more

It's hard to imagine life in the metro before breadsmith. Grocery store fluffy white bread. If everyone new what was really in that stuff......(I mean come one, how do you think already sliced bread stays fresh? certainly not a bounce sheet) Artisan daily fresh baked bread. Need I say more. Staff that is friendly and actually knows the product. The owner is very willing to provide excellent customer service, and educate the customer about his product, again hard to find in the metro. I think the owner needs to consider opening one downtown. Man that would be awesome. read more

They make excellent bread but their customer service is dismal. The bread is displayed on the wall. The customer is supposed to step up to a bar and ask an employee about the bread, try samples, and then have the employee bring the bread to the cash register. Unfortunately the employees are unenthusiastic, impatient, and not helpful. I would rather go to the grocery store and buy Breadsmith bread there. They rarely honor their coupons and have difficulty answering questions about ingredients. They do offer gluten free bread, specialty bread, and pizza dough. I would love to spend my money here but I can't get passed the rudeness of the staff. read more

Jess always makes our day! My kids beg to get bread here. The bread is always delicious and fresh. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel special and appreciated! A wonderful surprise is that they give kids a free cookie! How can a busy mom beat curbside delivery, a free cookie for the kiddos and warm bread? The fact I don't have to lug my kids into the store is a game changer. We buy bread three times as often as we used to. Plus, I use the cookie to get my kids to behave during errands, lol. Some good, some meh. Their loaf breads are great, but the dinner rolls made from the same doughs SUCK--they nearly always have hollow centers because someone doesn't know how to properly form small balls of dough. The rolls are an embarrassment to serve to dinner guests, and are equally frustrating for everyday use. I was excited to see the Fargo store had Chocolate Babkas in February--the Sioux Falls Breadsmith stores have it year-round--however, it's apparent no one in the Fargo store has any clue about Babka; it was rolled like a jelly roll and not baked in a pan so the roll (2-3 revolutions at most--BIG disappointment!) blobbed out both ends quite unattractively. I could've forgiven the ugly free-form loaf if it had been properly rolled and twisted...but it was also UNDERBAKED (unforgivable for a bakery). Perhaps someone from Sioux Falls needs to give Fargo a lesson?! C'mon, Fargo Breadsmith--quit phoning it in! You can do much better!! read more

Bread the way it is supposed to be. Jard to find in Fargo. None of the grocery stores sell fresh baked breads that are properly made. They all have soft mushy crusts. Like The cheap sandwich loafs. But here, I had the classic Rye. It has a wonderful mild rye flavor with a great stiff, chewy crust. This was my 1st experience and I will definitely be back! read more

From the opening of this bread store to the present, I am a loyal fan. The bread and treats are consistently high quality and tasty. It is the best bread in the Fargo area. You can readily see the ingredients and there are no preservatives. The staff members are consistently helpful and friendly. I wish Rob and company would open a store in the northern valley of Phoenix, as it is impossible to find a great loaf of bread here. read more

Absolutely Terrible Products. Always stale and dry. Plus the bread molds after 2 days of getting it home. Their prices are ridiculous and their service is sub par. You can get 100% ORGANIC BREAD that's also preservative free, fresh, and guaranteed NON GMO from the natural section of your local grocery store or from Natural Grocers, it's cheaper and lasts longer than this junk. read more

The bead here is great! No preservatives, crusty crust, just like I used to eat in Europe. You can sample just about anything.
