So, right away I want to give Breadlam three stars. I think that a sandwich should be an economical affair. No matter how fancy the ingredients are it's pretty simple formula: bread + meat, everything else is kind of an add-on. The trend of fancied up sandwiches with pretty high prices are new and I'm definitely grumpy about it. Breadlam fits into that category and yet despite all the higher-end trappings it's still one of the tastier sandwiches I've had in LA. I've had the Mount Vernon and the Beef Boulevard and both times I've been skeptical about its size. They were both tasty, I'm a fan of their spicy mayo but I definitely need a little something something alongside it. read more

This place is so cute! This is my first time ever coming here, and I'm definitely not disappointed. I love how friendly and welcoming the area is, and also the staff of this cute café. First off, there is a lot of parking. Which is very important LOL. Second off, prices. Affordable. You get what you pay for. The sandwich it's self is so tasty! I ordered The Beef Boulevard, and I absolutely love it. It has a little spice to it, which definitely gives it a little kick. I just adore how cute the restaurant is too. I love how it's just free and open to anyone, who just wants to sit and relax. Nothing too fancy, nothing too crazy. But just a very chill vibe. And I think we need more chill vibes around here. No pressure of dressing up, or long lines. Just come, place your order grab it, and enjoy your meal. Sit there and enjoy the breeze with the sun, and maybe people watch as people walk by. I will definitely be returning to try the other sandwiches. read more

Absolutely amazing handmade from scratch sandwiches by a local 2 man/woman team in the heart of LA's art district. They curate and select the best of artisan cured meats and hand selected cheeses from all over the world in between the freshest locally made bread. Service is what you would get from a small LA owners business...authentic. Don't be shy and ask the team for recommendations and or their thoughts on flavor combinations. The sandwich I had today was concocted last min and I was very happy with what they made. read more

The Bottom Line: Do you love charcuterie? Did you wish the cured meats and cheese you enjoy on top of a wooden board were in a sandwich? Then look no further! This unique concept makes it a stand-out destination in LA's Arts District. All I have to say is that this place was so good we lunched there two days in a row. On the first visit, I had a Mount Vernon, and the following visit I had the Glendale. Both featured different varieties of salami and both were paired well with their respective cheeses. I give the edge to the Mount Vernon with its olive spread. Honestly, I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches here. I think my intro says it all: the shop has a great collection of meats and cheese that you can order as a plate to share, but the real magic is when you combine these items with a nice ciabatta roll to make a killer sammie. Pro Tip: It's a small storefront with very limited seating outside so you may want to get this one to-go. read more

Breadlam is open during COVID for takeout. We ordered the The Geary Sandwich and it was very tasty. It was almost like a charcuterie board wrapped up in a sandwich. It came with a side of cronichon which added a nice crunch (just as a pickle would). This is definitely your gourmet sandwich, as it's made with finer ingredients and a more complex flavor. Also tried the Olipop Ginger Lemon soda water and I actually quite liked it! My hubby wasn't a fan because of the stevia taste, but I didn't mind it. Overall, a solid sandwich joint. Friendly service, the fella who made our sandwich came out and checked on us a few times which was nice. Check them out if you need a quick and tasty bite. read more

This is one of those cute cafés when you come on the weekends, like you're about to throw down. I definitely enjoyed my experience, and my sandwich was banging. I got a chicken sandwich, and it was delish! I love how quick and easy everything is. Just park on the sidewalk, and then you go inside, place your order, get your sandwich, grab a drink maybe? And then sit outside and enjoy yourself. The portion size is very generous. The price is fair. The staff is VERY friendly. Definitely recommend this cute place to anyone. Come and unwind. I come here pretty much every day on my lunch break and it's a joy to eat every time. They have a wide variety of sandwiches on their menu (sweet, spicy, etc) + the daily specials. Perfect portions, reasonably priced, and baby pickles on the side :D The team behind the sandwiches is so efficient and unbelievably kind. I honestly can't recommend it enough. Sandwiches are 11 a piece, pretty comparable to Wax Paper (In Chinatown) Glad i don't have to drive to Chinatown for an awesome sub. I got the geary sandwich; which is Truffied Mousse Pate, Prosciutto (Hard to bite on since it doesnt tear), Peppadews, Cucumber, Spicy Mayo, Cilantro Kind of wish the bread was toasted, but that's probably not the intent. When something so simple is so delicious. Also, thank goodness for vegan options!! I got the Valencia, which has gigande bean hummus, avocado, cucumber, red onion, crushed almond, basil, and greens. I was originally worried my sandwich would be mushy with the avocado and hummus, but I was surprised to find bits of gigande beans! (I prefer chunky mashed potato over creamy so this hummus was IT!) The avocado was perfect, the cucumber provides a refreshing bite. No mush here, just great textures! The bread was soft and airy. I love the simplicity of their menu. They also post daily specials on their Instagram, so make sure to check that out too! read more

This place is still open for take out! I pass by this place every day and I keep meaning to try it... and I'm really glad I did!! If you're looking for a sandwich place that's fast, delicious & healthy, this is the place to go! I got the Glendale and it was so yummy. It also came with a side of pickles. The sandwich is light in the sense that you won't feel totally stuffed or disgusting after eating it: it's simple but well-balanced. Literally every ingredient in the sandwich is fresh and high-quality. This is not your typical sandwich! Also, I am usually not a big fan of cheese and meat, but I make an exception for breadlam. Not really that great. I wanted this to be a place I'd frequent often but I wasn't feeling it. The sandwiches just tasted basic but not bad. I had the 5 Ave. It lacked flavor and dry but I did finish it all. No seating inside but there are at least 6 seats outside with a nice street view. The service was friendly and attentive. I do plan on giving this place another try but will be ordering something else. There is free street parking if you can find any and also paid parking. read more

Pretty solid spot! It's right across our favorite ice cream spot in Arts District so we decided to try it out after our dessert, and glad we did. We checked out the today's special, the Brie grilled cheese with pickles, Dijon mustard and prosciutto--very yummy! I really enjoyed the bread, it gave it an awesome crunch and the tiny pickles were soo good. As for the 5th Ave sandwich, it was okay, but tasted very dry despite the olive oil and Gouda. Of the two, I would go back for the grilled cheese. Funnily, the today's special is not really a "price" special--all sandwiches are $12 but I guess it's more of an "ingredient" type of special. Overall, I would recommend if you're around and craving some hot sandwiches! Ps. They sell out on bread so make sure you hit the spot before the lunch rush. Also, only two small tables so you might have to do take out but there is some sitting under the tree. read more

Uhmm, Breadlam? More like BreadYum! Okay, that was corny, but whatever. My husband and I grabbed some lunch here one sunny afternoon, there was a good amount of people waiting in line. With only 2 people working - one person assembling sandwiches, the other at the register, I was impressed by their efficiency and friendliness. They interacted with customers, thanked us for our patience, and handled the constant flow of lunch rush customers smoothly. We tried the Geary and the Holder sandwich - hubby wanted savory, I was feeling something sweet. The first thing I noticed was the bread - holy bread! So fluffy, amazing chew, great flavor - I could eat an entire loaf on its own, I'm sure of it. The Geary had great flavor and reminded me of a Vietnamese banh mi - delicious. Truffle flavor elevated it greatly. The Holder was sweet and simple, a little honey drizzled throughout for some sweet and salty bites. Loved loved this. Don't sleep on this! This place cares about quality and artistry. All the ingredients are top-notch. Creative mind using charcuterie elements to make top-tier sandwiches is a gift to the Arts district of Los Angeles. As a more satisfied customer, I salute you. The Raymond is a killer. Only note would be the consistency of made sandwiches. I've had the Raymond multiple times, and the amount of sauce is either light and appropriate or dripping all over me with not enough napkins. read more

I've lived in the Art's District for twenty years. I don't remember when Breadlam opened but hadn't tried it because I didn't realize how incredible their vegan options could be! Today we tried the Valencia. I highly recommend it. The service is outstanding too. I called in my order and although they were busy I didn't wait long at all. Wow! Look what popped up in the Arts District! Like the Super Bloom brings flowers, artisanal startups such as Breadlam should feed the masses once their amazing paninis made of the best ingredients circulate more. On a periodic visit to see the galleries and deliberate whether to eat somewhere new or good 'ol Wurstke, we saw Breadlam and decided to give them a try. I'm glad we did too! Listen (ok, read): The menu is suitable for any dietary style (mine is carnivorous) and at $11 each, the two we split easily surpass most of the competition in DTLA! For instance, The Glendale features a balanced selection of Genoa Salami and cheese, all freshly sliced, with spring mix greens and a strong-flavored balsamic vinegar that is symbiotic rather than dominant. I ate my half with a mild sense of ecstasy. Then, drum roll.... the Mount Vernon's day of reckoning came. Where The Glendale was mild and smooth, this one was forward and assertive in its spicy selection of salami, strong, semi-hard Italian cheese and that marvelous kalamata olive tapenade. Wow, glad I saved it for last because the flavors lasted a really long time (in the good way). With a wonderful selection of gourmet chips (get the Torres) and artisanal beverages, grab a memorable snack (the Ciabatta bread is dynamite) and become acquainted with an afordable, yet memorable source of sammies. read more

I honestly don't know why everyone is giving this 5 stars. I ordered the Raymond which is this Roasted Turkey sandwich and for $11 + tax coming to be around $12, this sandwich was mediocre at best. If you want extra meat or avocado, it's another $2. I'm really questioning the taste or palate of certain people here. This sandwich didn't have much to offer between the bread slices... just a thin layer or Turkey, Salad greens, and sauce. It was just a small, sad, basic looking sandwich that tasted dryer than a homeless man's crusty toes. It didn't taste terrible, but for $12, I was expecting a nicely loaded meal. I would've been okay if it costs $5. They also give you a side of small dill pickles which helped saved the meal. For $1-$2 more, you can get a way bigger & better sandwich at Eat, Drink, Americano which is across the street. The workers are nice though! :) read more

Stopped in for a Geary: had me at hello truffle pate! Loved it - kinda surprised that it gave me bánh mì vibes. And after stalking the 'gram - it was intentional after all - sly! Indeed it has some heat; a bit too much for a lightweight like me. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKE-9QhBlBw/ The ingredients are excellent! Ciabatta is just right; no mouth gouging exterior yet still with a good bite through its middle. Pickles are same; acid | sour | fresh - which gave it a contrasting snap with each bite. I goofed and didn't realize Torres Truffle chips were sold there until we left; I have been wanting to try them. Deep River another great chip maker are carried as well. These are charcuterie sandwiches; so the portions reflect that. One may feel like a snack; so get 2 or add chips. Breadlam also offers cheese & charcuterie boards. Definitely will be ordering this for the post-pandemic house warming or maybe the outdoor picnic with puppy. https://www.breadlam.com/cheese-platters read more

Pleasantly surprised! Been on a little sandwich kick and ordered the Beef Blvd. The bread was soft with the perfect chew, and the sandwich had a decent amount of beef and fresh mozzarella. Overall: amazing sandwich within walking distance of my home! The service: is exceptional! Staff is friendly and personable - answering my many questions. I've had The Raymond, The Mount Vernon, and The Geary. My favorite so far - though all are delicious - is The Raymond. This is a super cute spot in arts district! There are so many sandwiches on the menu that sounded good so picking one was hard. I decided to try the beef blvd sandwich. There are so many sandwiches out there, and it's hard to find something that really stands out - here's why I am impressed this time: 1. Quality over quantity... In the absence of something special, I often resort to judging sandwiches by how big they are, or how many different kinds of random meats are inside. These sandwiches don't look or sound super-sized, so how would they stack up? Well they are simply delicious. The bread is good and soft. The cheese is high quality. The ingredients go together really well. I'm not a fancy person so I can't pronounce some of the ingredients, but I do understand one thing: delicious or not delicious. I got the Beef Blvd and it was super yummy! 2. But still filling! I guess this would count as a "gourmet" sandwich, but I normally don't like those. Typically gourmet sandwiches sound fancy, may or may not taste good, and almost always leave me still hungry. Here, I was pleasantly surprised that after eating "just" one sandwich (and no sides or appetizers), I was full and my stomach was happy. 3. Plenty of free parking In DTLA, not too many places can say this. Just one block away (next to the triangular dog park), there is free street parking. There are meters, but they say free. Definitely want to go back to try more flavors! read more

Loved this sandwich! The cheeses were strong and sharp, the prosciutto was nice a little salty, and the tomatoes provided acidity. The bread was soft but not crisp or warm. Excellent sandwiches! I found this place on Yelp, and figured I'd give it a shot because of the good reviews, and fair prices. Because I'd never heard of this place, I figured it would be cool to try for a late lunch. I got the Ironwood sandwich (basically a caprese) and we also got the Beef Blvd sandwich. We got both on ciabatta bread as recommended and they were both truly phenomenal. I can't remember the last time a sandwich impressed me like these did. Everything was remarkably fresh and bursting with flavor. The bread was *chefs kiss* perfecto, and mozzarella and pesto and tomatoes were all equally flavorful, fresh and delicious. Especially considering the price, this might be my new favorite sandwich shop in LA. Insanely good, and I highly recommend! *parking isn't great in this area unfortunately but it's worth the small hassle, just order ahead so you can run in and out quickly read more

A great place if you want a cohesive, fresh and good quality sandwich! The Raymond is the go to sandwich - it's tangy and wholesome and just yummy. Bonus for the delicious cornichons on the side and the fluffy ciabatta. It tastes like they thought about each component of the sandwich. Yes the sandwiches are ok. Nothing to write home about. Cheese was poor quality on my sandwich. Bread was tough. Meh.

Basically every description of a sandwich can be made in a bowl. Because I have no diet restrictions but my daughter tends to do more veggies. I had a sandwich and my daughter selected a bowl. My girlfriend and I visited Breadlam for the first time over the weekend on an invite to try them out. I got three of their fancy sandwiches: Beef Blvd, 43rd Ave and Holder. My girlfriend can't eat things that are too high in carbs and sugar (she's diabetic), so she was able to order Beef Blvd as a salad bowl. She lives for spicy food, so she was really excited about the spicy mayo. It had a nice kick to it. I really appreciated all the drink options. I dislike places that only offer fountain drinks and plastic bottled waters. Breadlam had such a large variety of canned and glass bottled beverages to choose from. There was both flat and sparkling water as well as fancy lightly sweetened soft drinks from Sanzo. I have a sweet tooth so I was excited about my 43rd and Holder sandwiches. I enjoyed 43rd Ave a lot but Holder was too much, even for a sugar fiend like me. I ended up scraping up most of the membrillo and honey off it but it was still overly sweet for me. I wouldn't get it again but I'm glad I got to try it. I definitely recommend the Beef Blvd and 43rd Ave though. The high quality ingredients and thoughtful flavor combinations really stuck out. In addition to the fact that all the sandwiches can be made into low-carb salad bowls, both vegetarian and vegan options are offered as well. I love that they try to cater to as many dietary preferences as possible. The sandwiches are a little on the pricier side but you have to consider the location (in the middle of the Arts District), so it isn't cheap to operate a business there. The shop itself was small but there was a nice little outside dining area (about four tables, I think). My girlfriend was so happy with her experience there. Parking is tough. It's hard to find street parking, so you usually end up in a paid lot just for the time and convenience. The owner was really great, super friendly, provided great service. Overall, from quality of food to ambiance, I would recommend and revisit this shop. read more

Not sure what to even say about this place. Wanted to try it after watching. TikTok video and had really high expectations... But for $11 the sandwiches were literally a size of my hand and barely had anything inside. All sandwiches came with a sheet of meat and cheese and on one of them it just looked like they poured all the cheese crumbs frm the bottom of the bag or something. Tried the ciabatta and baguette and nothing special if anything the baguette tasted like store bought bag bread. So upset that I wasted over $40 dollars on these lousy sandwiches. Truffle pate? Yes please! First time here and it's a cute little sandwich shop in DTLA Arts District that's right across from the Salt and Straw. I chose to get the Geary because I was very intrigued by the truffle pate and I saw reviews say that it reminded them of a banh mi which I love. At first glance it may not look like much but it actually quite filling! Not surprising I liked the truffled pate and the peppadews which gave it a bit more flavor. I also liked that it had a little kick to it. The ciabatta just tied it all really well together. I can see why they called it a version of the banh mi with the pate but not really since it was missing the pickled vegetables and crunch. But it was still delicious! I did warm a bit of the other half when I got home and I think I preferred it warm instead of cold. It may be because I like my a little ciabatta bread warm haha I also got a Bundaberg peach drink because I liked the ginger bear from Bunderberg and not to love about peach! Parking can be tricky here! There may be lots of parking available but coming on a Saturday around noon it was already mostly filled! I parked on Traction Ave. instead of 3rd Ave. Love this area as i often come here for the atmosphere and the vibe. read more
