Lovely lunch addition to the area! Had a Metropolitan Cobb zeppelin and a broccoli cheese soup. Delicious! I also got to sample the cream of jalapeño soup and it was tasty as well. The zeppelin is so fresh and plentiful. The idea is that the innards of the bread itself are taken out and replaced with what essentially makes up a salad. Love that personally because I'm a huge fan of eating all the crust (and leaving the innards), especially when I'm out at fancy restaurants lol. My husband and I got salads to go from Bread Zeppelin tonight.They were great. Very fresh, very tasty and very large. We both got the zeppelin Cobb. It had a lot of chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato and various ingredients. All fresh and tasty. The salad came with blue crumbles so my husband had blue cheese dressing. I had the avocado ranch. My daughter and I try to find new places for lunch, and today Bread Zeppelin was the choice. We were greeted immediately upon entry and were asked if it was our first time to dine there. A group behind us also said it was their first time, and we were all given a very quick but informatice run down on the ordering process and the highlights of the menu. It was described as a locally baked artisan baguette with the core removed and stuffed with a salad of your choice. It sounded interesting, but I wasn't sold on the concept. Okay, a Subway salad on a sandwich. I get it. I opted for the Lone Star Zeppelin, which was steak, avocado, lettuce, etc., tossed in a bleu cheese dressing and then stuffed into the baguette. My daughter ordered the Atlantis which is a Greek salad in the baguette, and I got a Washington State for my wife. At first bite I realized how wrong I was to think this was going to be anything like a Subway sandwich with a salad inside. The crispness of the bread was amazing. A perfect, crusty, baguette. The salad inside was tossed fresh to order, but even more than that, the steak was moist but not drippy and watery, but not dried out either. The taste and texture were as if it was grilled to order and then diced (I know, it wasn't). But if you've ever ordered a steak sandwich from a chain restaurant or even the steak from those build your own burrito-type places, then you know what I am talking about. This steak was not that steak. The rest if the ingredients were your typical salad mix with the dressing being really good. My daughter also enjoyed her Zeppelin (do I call it a sandwich? A salad?) enough to say that this place makes it into the rotation. My only negative is the "forced" tip on the credit card at check out. I think it defaults to 25, 22, and 20 percent. I worked in the food industry for 7 years as a server in my prior life for 15-20% tips as a full service foodserver. The notion that 20% at a modified fast food restaurant is the new norm is hard to swallow. read more

We met at the SW Freeway location, great parking available. It was large, well lit and clean. In getting started I would suggest two things: a menu up front so newbies who aren't ready to order do not clog up the ordering cue - second a visible "Order Here" sign to make it clear where the cue starts. The pre-set salad options are a great way to get comfortable with the product and second trip a visitor may venture into self choice. We were hungry so we stuck with bowls like the Lone Star and all was very fresh and well tossed with a dressing of our choice. We dined in and our salads were quickly ready. The male employee still standing in rear store doorway, RUDLY blurted out "in the front" . As we perused paper menu, employees were busy clowning around with female sweeping behind the counter. Never an offer of service. How about offering: any questions on menu, what can we get for you, etc. Nothing. I can't speak to the food as we walked out. This was our initial visit to try what we thought would become another eatery choice for us. With the vast array of eateries in our great city, customers expect excellent food and customer service. Besides the food, I honestly have been really impressed with their customer service, especially for a counter service establishment! My first time there involved lots of questions and indecisiveness, however the staff was so patient with me and even offered their personal recommendations! I was first introduced to Bread Zepplins when I went to Dallas. My family travels there for business often and we always stopped there and they always made the sandwich to perfection. But this new Houston location frustrates me so much. Between ordering the Metro Cobb via delivery or coming in store or any other sandwich, they are always forgetting main ingredients. I've stood in line and asked multiple time "did you put the blue cheese in the sandwich" to which I would be told yes and as soon as I sit down or leave there's none in it. There's also been times I've ordered the southwest bowl and they put no MEAT in the salad bowl. This has been about 5-7 times now, so I'm not coming here anymore. Seems pretty easy to just make myself for me and my family. read more

Was waiting for this spot to open. Took a chance and drove by today during lunch and BOOM. They're now open. The concept is different from other sandwich spots. Your sandwich toppings are tossed first, like a salad, then stuffed inside a fresh baked roll. This makes for optimal operation to make a sandwich so every bite has balance in toppings etc. The choices of juices/lemonades and tea are more than you could ask for, much better than conventional soft drink options.
