I've half Lebanese-Armenian and always on the look out for a good place to eat. This was a really pleasant surprise to find solid home-style food. The babaghanoush, rice, and chicken shwarma have the right spices and style that I'm used to get at home abs their desserts are excellent (def get the lady fingers). The food is good but the night we were there our meals took forever. Like over 40 minutes. I couldn't understand the delay when you compare to other similar restaurants that have pretty much the same menu with much faster service. I prefer Choupli for freshness and flavor. I guess there are bugs to work out. It certainly seemed like there were plenty of employees, just need some organization, perhaps. I will wait to try again in a few months and update this review. ADDED: be aware this business adds a FEE for accepting your credit card that you don't learn of until you receive your credit card statement. Poor business practice that the receipt shows a different amount than what you are charged. I will dispute with my credit card company and WILL NOT patronize this business again. There's nothing worse than a business that isn't honest with customers. Every business pays a fee to the cc company for accepting credit cards and it is rolled into the cost of goods sold. Can you imagine going to Meijer and learning later they charged a percentage on top of what you thought you paid?!? You only get one chance for a good first impression. read more

I was really excited to try this place with all the five star reviews rolling in. I'm sad to say I was disappointed. My husband and I visited on Saturday around 5:30 pm and it was mildly busy but really picking up by the time we left. We tried a variety of the "bites," and gyro and a bread. Absolutely nothing stood out. Solidly fine. The service was friendly, but when I had questions about the food, they didn't seem able to answer them. I'd recommend heading to Zaytoon in Lansing for delish fresh pita. Or Choupli. I sadly won't be headed back to Bread Bites. read more

Lansing's newest Mediterranean/Middle Eastern spot, and THE place to go to carbo load :) Everything we had was fantastic. The falafel is the best in town, tender and moist. The sojuk on the sojuk pie was savory and juicy. All of the "savory bites" were delightful; my favorite was the thyme bite. So full, we forgot to try the hummus and shawarma. I have been to this restaurant twice and I have concluded that this one that I won't go to again. I always try and give the establishment a second chance and the second chance was so disappointing even to the first. I order takeout both times and both are so bad . the last time June 2023 was one of the worst take out I have ever had. I ordered chicken shawarma. and a side of fries. the chicken was so dry and the fries were about 20 percent cooked, at home I put the fries in the air fryer and cooked them for 8 mins and that made them like cardboard and the chicken had so much sauce and very strong which my one bite of the wrap was horrible. The food here is absolutely top-notch. We tried a few of the baked pies, almost like a small pizza, but better with very interesting, fresh ingredients. They were delicious- as was the chicken shawarma and salad that we also tried. Ingredients were all very fresh and food was prepared perfectly. Each item was packed in its own little to-go package which made bringing it home convenient and kept it safe for the drive. Bread Bites is a really great secret gem of a restaurant. I've had the best service from all of the people that work there. Prices are very reasonable and I've found that most everything I've tried is really tasty and a unique take on middle-eastern food in this area. The fresh baked bread is incredible, and makes some really awesome sandwiches. The cheese and sojuk pies are excellent. The lentil soup is the best around. The one dish that really surprised me were the vegetarian grape leaves. I love meat grape leaves but have always found the vegetarian ones to lack body or have strange flavors. These vegetarian grape leaves are as good as any meat grape leaves that I've ever had. They are truly great. Please support this local business, I want it to stay around for a long time! read more

This bread is like no other you'd purchase at a store. Homemade, warm out of the oven, minutes into your mouth. A true harvest of flavors and textures. Bread Bites is top knotch for quality, freshness and versatilty. The service was on point, the staff was kind, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The restaurant was steadily busy and they made amazing homemade food to our table in no time. I had a delicious marinated and tender beef schwarma, filled with crunchy parsley, onions, pickles, turnip and cabbage and sauced just with the right amount of tahini. Soooo good. Washed down with the "Rise and Shine" smoothie, fresh fruits, creamy yogurts and honey, really organic and smooth. To finish, I tried the handmade sweet and flaky baklava. Being that my girlfriend is a native from Dearborn, it is safe to say she can be a tough critic when it comes to middle eastern restaurants outside of that area. Finding this hidden gem in Okemos, with amazing food and friendly staff, she felt like she was back in Dearborn. She ordered the chicken shawarma plate with hummus and fatoush salad and was amazed at the generous amount of rice and chicken on the plate and the flavor was just absolutely perfect, not too much and not too little. I had ordered the sajouk pie with lentil soup and house salad and was amazed with how much I absolutely loved it and let's not forget about the delicious ladyfingers for dessert. Chicken shawarma plate - my husband LOVED it. The chicken was tender & moist and the rice was tasty. Chicken shawarma sandwich - the taste was really good but it had a lot of liquid in it so it was kind of hard to eat Fattoush salad - yummy! My rating is entirely about the service. Everything about my experience reveals a very disorganized business. My first time here, I arrived shortly after 6:00 pm on a Thursday evening. It took 5 to 10 minutes to get to the counter to place my order. They have a single person/register to take orders and no clear queueing system, just a mob of people wondering who's next. I placed my order (gyro sandwich, fries and a salad) and then proceeded to wait 37 minutes to get my food. This is no exaggeration, the receipt was time stamped. It was also obvious that I was not only person getting disgruntled by slow service. When I asked about the long wait the person at the counter made some vague comment about the kitchen making several mistakes. They desperately need to reorganize their operations. Sandwich was OK, 3 out of 5, salad was meh (but most house salads are meh) and the fries were over salted. read more
