LOVE this place! I wish I lived MUCH closer so that I could use the gym and take advantage of everything they have to offer. The gym prices are definitely more than that of 24 hour or LA fitness, but I think exclusivity is a price well-worth paying for sometimes. Plus there's a basketball court that's accessible and hardly ever full! We rented the big auditorium for my Daughter's bday party....so easy to work with the staff and get everything in order. You have access to the kitchen, so it was really easy to bring in our food and have it in a "staging area" before we brought it out to the party. We were able to easily accommodate our party of 200+ comfortably, with room to run around and dance....only drawback really is the limited amount of time you have and the price can be a little expensive for most people, but if you're wiling to fork out the extra dollars, this place is a GREAT choice. They even host wedding receptions here...that's how nice you can dress it up! Parking lot is pretty big, so that's no problem. And lastly, the staff...the staff is always ready to help and points me in the right direction should I ever need pointing to. read more

I am only rating this a 1 star, because of an employee named Ashley , I called the community center to book a massage, and all you get is her voice mail, I called twice , she never returned the call. When I called the front desk, they said how it works is, you pay first , then they put the receipt on her desk and she calls you to schedule massage. This seems very odd, she doesn't return calls, so why would you pay first and hope she may call you. The front desk says the massage starts at 79.00 for 60 minutes. I think the community center is very nice and other facilities are fine, just this employee who doesn't seem to follow up. read more

Had my daughter's first birthday party in the Community Room and it was great! Tianna was SO helpful. Especially with all this going on with COVID19 and the rain. We were still able to have our party. Tianna is great at responding to emails and offering help and other options. The day of staff wasn't too present, but when we needed something, we could find them at the front desk. It's also always nice to have lots of parking =) read more

This is an update of my previous review. We have been living in Brea for a couple of years now and we love this area, cozy and safe and family-friendly. However, I do think the city can do better than what's there. There were a couple of street light boxes aren't working, even the one right outside the city hall. It makes it very hard to see the street names at night. A couple of times I went to the Brea Community Center, the front desk doesn't have the information they should have and they don't have a reason for that. The Brea Line always comes out the after the classes are started. I really want to support our city but I can't if they don't let me. This kind of delay is really not acceptable and the front desk can't give me a better answer why. The weekend workers at the front desk get even less help because "their supervisors are not working on the weekend" so they have no one to turn to. I feel so bad for these people working at the front desk. read more

I worked with Rebecca Hart who made the process smooth in making sure I had everything needed for my event. For use of the facility before my event it was easy to book and everybody was helpful, even in situations where improvising was needed. I got married here two weekends ago, and it was definitely SO WORTH IT! You normally don't expect to have the fanciest wedding at a community center, but you can do almost anything you want at this venue. We made it as fancy, fun, and as personal as we wanted it! My husband and I were searching for wedding venues, and I found this one on wedding-spot.com. The photos looked great, and since we were at a budget, the venue was even more appealing. I made the appointment from January of 2016 for a site visit, even though my wedding was May 2017. They had a couple of Saturdays that were already booked, but good thing we got May 13th. Reasons why we chose BCC: 1) We walked around the venue, and loved the Art's Garden for our ceremony, community hall patio for cocktail hour, and the Community Hall for the reception. We didn't want our guests to have to drive from the ceremony to our reception, so that was one good reason -- convenience for our guests! Our guests also that day thanked us for having everything at one place. 2) They allow for a 1 hour rehearsal the week before your wedding! We ended up booking it the Friday before the wedding from 6-7PM, so I got to show the wedding party the venue the day before, and we also had all of our parents go to BCC on Friday, so everyone was well acquainted with the venue, and helping us set up for the day of. 3) We can pick any catering vendor we wanted to, and however many we wanted. I wanted to do a Chinese or Korean banquet, so I wanted to be able to choose our own banquet, not one from a vendor list. We also wanted to do a taco truck during our cocktail hour -- a separate caterer. We can have as many vendors as we wanted, as long as they have the proper health permits and liability. 4) BYOB! - We Wanted to also bring our own alcohol. We wanted selected cocktails and liquor that we knew our friends would like. We had to hire our own licensed bartender, but we also get to keep all of the alcohol that was not consumed at the end of the night. 5) Community Center closes at 4PM on weekends, so even though we visited the BCC a couple of times, and the gym area and the rec area always has a lot of people, it all closes at 4PM on Saturdays. We had our ceremony start at 5:30PM, so the whole building was basically for us by the time our wedding started! 6) Parking is free and abundant. There's plenty of parking for your guests, even under solar panels too! Also, they have said that if your guests ever get too drunk, they are allowed to leave their car there overnight with no fees or penalties, and just have them take a taxi home! Just make sure your guests have a good time and get home safely! 7) You can rent all of the table and chairs you need! It's not any additional charge if you need 2 tables or 17 tables. The events coordinator gives you a number of tables and chairs they have, and you just let her know how many tables and chairs you need for your event, and they set it up as so for the day of. It was great to have that all taken care of, so you don't have to rent any tables or chairs yourself. The type of chair they have for outdoor is fine (simple white chairs), the chairs for the community hall is a bit large and utilitarian, so the events coordinator said a lot of couples rent out the chairs, but we just got chair covers ($1.50 each chair) and table linens ($8/table). 8) The staff is so great and flexible! The on site staff is so helpful -- if you need help opening doors, dimming lights, closing or opening the window curtains, they were all really helpful. We even had a couple of them take us around for our site visits and they were always very informative. The events coordinator, Melissa is AMAZING! She emails me back with all of my questions answered within a few hours!! She's normally out on Fridays, so try not to email her on Thursday evenings, but she will respond within Monday morning!! She reminded us of all of the payment dates, when we need to submit the vendor health permits, and also told us about a change in the insurance policy right away. I was so glad we worked with Melissa, and everything was done through email! I only got to meet her one time, and she is not there the day of your wedding (doesn't work weekends), but everything was taken care of without her even being there!! No problems whatsoever. All of our guests ended up having a great time at the wedding, my husband and I included! I could not praise BCC more with how wonderful the venue was! For any couples who are of Asian heritage, and do a tea ceremony, there's a meeting room perfect for that. We also decided to rent out a smaller meeting room where we got to pour tea with our elders in a more intimate setting. We also left a lot of our decorations and stuff in the meeting room. Melissa let me rent out the meeting room for the rest of the night so my bridesmaids and I had a place to put our shoes, change of clothes, etc. Thank you, BCC for the day day of my life!! read more

We were looking for a local venue for our baby shower. I had the pleasure of working with Tianna. She was extremely kind and accommodating throughout the entire process! She also kept me up to date on when certain items were due as well which I really appreciated with my busy schedule. I would definitely recommend renting out this facility for any event honestly, they accommodate it all! If you're a Brea resident like we are, you can get some great deals on the rental. Aside from the rental cost itself, there are some misc costs to consider: 1. If you will have open flame such as candles, you will need an approval from the fire department 2. If you will have alcohol on the premises, they will require security. For event over 100, you'll need two security guards. 3. You will need to get insurance as well 4. Outside catering is welcomed and you do have access to a partial or full kitchen (which is an additional cost) as needed. 5. Surround sound and PA system available (no cost) 6. The package includes several other rentals available to make your special event as smooth as possible. Lastly, event staff will be on the premises to assist you if you have any questions. They will do the chair and table set up for you and assist with clean up towards the end which is all included in the package. read more

Don't let the term "Community Center" scare you, this place is definitely an excellent place to host a formal event! This past weekend I held my wedding reception in the community hall and it went swimmingly. The event coordinator you'll likely be dealing with is Melissa and she is a delight to work with. She responds quickly to your likely MANY questions and is a fountain of knowledge! We rented the entire community hall but you have the option to only rent a portion if you're only hosting a small event. The space has definite potential if you're up for the task of building your event from scratch. Its a big space, you just gotta fill it! Their guidelines and rules are reasonable and a giant perk is you can BYO-Alcohol, you just need a licensed professional to serve it for you and a security guard. All in all, the space was great. My now husband and I used the Brea Community Center as our wedding venue. We had such a fantastic experience working with Tianna N. We knew we were going to have a large wedding and wanted to bring our own caterer and we were looking around at various community/senior centers. Tianna was the most responsive, thorough, and friendly contact we met, so we went with the center. She answered all of our crazy questions and helped us stay on track to make the process as stress free as possible. We used the Arts Garden for our ceremony space (and didn't need any additional decorations as all of the flowers were in bloom) and the Grand Hall for the reception. We had about 170 people in attendance and everyone was comfortable. The biggest thing to keep in mind is you can't really set up the day/night before. For us, it wasn't a big deal because we didn't want an elaborate wedding, but it may raise your costs with other vendors that will need to do pickup/drop off same day. Some pluses that really swayed us: We could bring our own alcohol, the security was a fantastic deal, we could bring our preferred caterer (In-N-Out truck), if you live, work, or go to school in Brea, you get a discount (I work in Brea), and they set up all of the tables and chairs for you (if you choose to use what they have). I've been getting lots of questions about where I go for volleyball, so let me continue my miniseries of reviews on Open Gyms. Brea Community Center is huge and far more spectacular compared to the Tustin location! Brea's like the Vegas strip--new, remodeled, and young; while Tustin is like the downtown location of Las Vegas-old, frumpy, & run down. The center in itself, has an open area where you can eat, an area for weights/cardio/general workout equipment, and most importantly, a gym to play volleyball! (they do other things there too, but I don't care =) Like Tustin, it's divided into two levels, intermediate and advanced. Just as you walk in, you could see how well lit the place is, with brand spanking new floors. The courts are also separated by a divider. There's more than enough room for people to pepper on the side, and for you to be able to do whatever kind of jump serve you want to do ('cuz you know, my 5'2 1/2 body is all about the jump serves). Details: -Wednesdays- 6:30-10 p.m. Open gym. -It's 4.50 for non residents of Brea, $3.50 for residents. -Volleyballs are not provided...boo! -2 courts -Advanced side is pretty darn advanced, and do take it a little too seriously sometimes. So stay away from that side unless you're really good, or cool enough to hang around the other groupies there. -Intermediate is truly intermediate. People know what they're doing, and it's not a series of jungle ball or tennis that's going on. They're also really nice on that side, and don't ball hog the way they do on the advanced side. Just make sure to call your sets! Altogether, this location is too far...and quite honestly, the elitist attitude over on the advanced side is annoying. Other than that, this is a place to go maybe once or twice each month if you live further out, but definitely a go to place if you're local. read more

Let me start by saying that I am NOT a gym girl. If left to my own devices, I would never get any indoor excercise. So, I can not speak to the equipment, I only take the classes. I stumbled upon this place a couple of years ago and finally signed up for a membership during one of their 25% off specials (all of January 2012) so for $14 bucks a month, it is a great deal. The classes are very full and if you are new to one and uncoordinated like me, you will probably feel like an ass for about three weeks. So, because of that, I have never been back to Body Pump or Zumba (where I felt like the instructor was more interested in auditioning for a dance production than teaching the moves) I don't know who that trainer was but I was unhappy. Maybe I am just use to excercising out doors but I have been to great Zumba classes elsewhere. The pilates with Carol is AWESOME though (I wish she had more classes). She only teaches two. Folks of all ages take this class and she plays 70's soft rock (think sad eyes, pina colada, etc...I don't know, cheesy but I like it). My butt looks better than ever and my posture is improving. The Thursday kickboxing class with Danielle is awesome too. She is scary but in a good way, like she is going to beat you if you don't give it your all but she is actually a doll. I do NOT like that there is no phone number to get the folks at the front desk. I sometimes want to call and ask a quick question about a class and end up going round and round with the recordings. It is horrible. I also find that they don't seem all that friendly when I come in. Other Yelpers have thought them very friendly so maybe they just don't like me. Who knows. Again, for the money and the "non gym" environment, it is great. It is clean as a whistle and probably the nicest community center I have ever been in. Thanks Brea Community Center! I'm so glad a friend told me about this place! It's only $25 a month for non residents, so it's perfect for when I return from college for the summer/winter break. A lot cheaper than 24 hr fitness and a lot cleaner too! The workers and trainers are always super friendly and helpful. It's definitely smaller than 24, but it's also not as crowded. Since I hate crowds, this place is perfect for me! They have a sign up system for the cardio machines too - you can sign up for intervals of 15 minutes for one machine (2 in a row max, so 30 mins max for one machine. Then you have to get back in line again or use a different machine.) Prevents anyone from hogging your fave machine for long! They offer a huge variety of classes, including zumba, pilates and yoga. So far I've only taken the cycling classes here and I haven't been disappointed. It was a lot harder than I thought it would be - in a good way! Each instructor has his/her own style, but of the few different instructors I've tried out, I've liked them all. I think I like the lady who teaches the Wednesday 5:30 class the best. She played a couple bollywood songs which made it super fun. read more

Had my wedding here at the beginning of May and it was gorgeous! We had string lights going across the garden and reception tables set up underneath. We rented both the Garden and the Studio and that was more than enough space for 200 people, buffet style and two open bars. Tianna was definitely a lot of help in getting this locked down and handling the set up with her staff. I would highly recommend this venue for an outdoor wedding! read more

My wife and I had our wedding ceremony outside in the Arts Garden and our reception in the main Banquet Hall and it turned out absolutely gorgeous. The Arts Garden was able to seat 200+ guests easily and the Banquet Hall was so spacious we were able to have a huge dance area for our large families. Melissa helped us throughout the whole process and was very responsive when issues or questions came up with our vendors. We opted to rent out a kids area to allow our guests to keep their kids occupied while they enjoyed the reception. We received a lot of feedback about how great it was that the venue offered such a service. The security team that was hired through the Brea Community center were very courteous and nice to all of our guests. All in all, my wife and I are extremely glad we chose to have our wedding at the Brea Community Center. Melissa was a pleasure to work with. read more

So I signed my son up for keyboarding and no teacher shows up. My daughter has a dance class and they canceled that. Both time I brought my kids and they cried all the way home. Called Ryan a felt he was very rude didn't even try n fix what was going on. Man my son has done so many programs here and none of this but 2 times in a week I'm good. You gotta fix something and definitely will nice when it's your fault my kid is crying. It's ok tho my kids don't even wanna go back. The facilities are incredibly spacious and clean here!! The gym is seriously one of the BEST gyms I've ever been to. It's a bit on the smaller side, but they have the most awesome group exercise classes here!!! They also have a ton of fabulous indoor basketball courts, which are great for tournaments! read more

We were married 7/27/13 and loved that we chose The Brea Community Center. Everyone we dealt with from the beginning until the end were amazing! We shopped around looking for a place that was not only nice and within our budget, but that would also allow us to bring in our own vendors. We had a specific vision in mind and the BCC helped make it happen! One of our biggest requests was allowing the In-N-Out truck to come and for us to bring in beer from our favorite brewery. This was not an easy task, but our search was over when we found The BCC! They allowed us to have the wedding of our dreams! To top it off the facilities are great and the staff even more! We loved EVERYONE that we worked with there. Nicole and Melissa were so helpful and nice! We dealt with them the most. But the men that worked our event were just as awesome! They helped set up tables and were there with anything else we needed. This is the perfect place for couples on a budget and those that have a DIY vision in mind. Okay, after going to LA Shitness for 8 years, this place is quite a change and it's going to take some getting used to but so far, I'm liking it. The staff is really young but super friendly and helpful. We signed up for the January special (25% discount on the Annual Fitness Pass) and got a non-Brea resident rate of $14.75 per month/$177 per year, exactly HALF what we paid at our old gym! I haven't had much of a chance to do a full workout but the equipment is awesome...up to date, no duct tape in sight and everything seemingly in working order. It's going to take me some time to get used to signing in for the cardio equipment because I'm really a lone wolf at the gym, I kind of like the freedom to move around if someone is irritating me or if I don't like the feel of a particular machine, but for the price and the great facility, I can deal. The Annual Fitness Pass includes use of the cardio/weight room, group exercise room, basketball court/gym and all of the classes but Zumba, and best of all...no kids under 13 allowed in at all.........sweet!!! read more

So, my wife and I wanted to get a workout in as we were visiting here from out of town and it was close to were we were staying. The building looks fantastic and when you first enter you are blown away, but that is as far as it goes. The basketball courts are nice, the classrooms are nice, but the actual workout area is awful. It is a small L shaped area with older equipment. They need to take the down classroom/group studio and open up the space with more and newer equipment. They would put the group workout room in another one of their classrooms that gets less use. For a quick workout it does the job, but unless you playing basketball their are a lot of other great options out there. Oh, the front desk staff are amazing and very helpful and friendly though. Another nice thing is you don't have to sit through a sales pitch but can just go work out so that is a HUGE bonus! read more

My church, Crossway Community Church uses this facility every Sunday for our worship service. The community center has excellent facilities, gym with basketball/volleyball courts, fitness equipment, locker room, kids rooms, arts room, kitchen, patio, and a large ballroom. The community is also equipped to host small meeting rooms. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. You can rent the facility for other events too. It is quite common to see people hosting parties or wedding receptions at the facility. They also have other activities there but im not quite familiar with them so I would advise checking up on their website for more information. read more

I had my wedding here at their event rooms in 2000. The venue and price was reasonable. The staff was very helpful. My kids have taken classes here during the summer and they offer good selection of summer classes. I've also been going to the gym here 3 to 5 times a week since 2006. Classes are better than some of the nearby gyms and the weight rooms and exercise machines are just as great as the other gyms. They keep things updated and clean and the price is great. I wish they offered Lagree Fitness Pilates or reformer pilates classes. They do offer private reformer sessions for a reasonable price and great prices on full body massages. read more

Worked with Tianna again for my child's birthday party for the second year in a row. It's always the best party of the year, as the kids won't stop talking about it for days. The location and layout is perfect and so easy for the host and convenient for the parents. You can hang out with kids or walk over to Nordstrom and shop. Tianna was so patient with me on selecting a date and responsive to my questions. I admit I looked at a few less expensive places just to have options, but working with Tianna is worth the premium. She is a total pro and understands that by putting in the time and energy to figure out the details before the event means less stress and worry during and after it. Room was set up timely and as designed, and deposit returned timely after the event. I'm pretty sure I know what my child is going to want to do for his next birthday! read more

Using Brea Community Center as a venue for our wedding was probably the easiest decision we made! It is a perfect space to hold a wedding. I immediately loved the fact that it had both a ceremony and reception area on site. Great for the guests not having to drive from one venue to another between ceremony and reception. It was also very important for us to be able to hire all of our own vendors. At this venue you can truly make your wedding your own! It was very important to me to be able to customize our special day exactly how we wanted. Rental rates are very reasonable and by the hour so you are able to rent the spaces for only the time you need. And BONUS! if you are a Brea resident you get a discount. :) The events coordinator, Melissa Davis, is AMAZING! Such an incredibly sweet person and you can tell she really enjoys her job! She answered all our questions during our initial walkthrough (and believe me, I had a TON) and every time I emailed her with questions (which was often) she got back to me right away. Every time I wanted to go to the venue to try out tablecloths etc. she always had her staff set up tables and whatever equipment I needed to try everything out. Note: try to book in advance!
