A franchise that appears to have at least two other locations in this neighborhood, south of the city center a ways. Believe they are serving only Brazilian sourced coffees and the styles served will be familiar to anyone with a remote understanding of coffee culture, although I asked, "what, no cafezinho?" and received a blank stare. It's a Brazilian equivalent to espresso, a bit stronger, usually served with sugar (sound familiar?) and is as much culture as anything. My only trip there I lived on the stuff so mildly disappointed, but not a criticism. Chains serve their owners, not necessarily the culture. I would have been super excited had it been an option. Maybe they do offer it and my Midwestern U.S. English was that bad. but I didn't see it on the menu board.
Service is polite and efficient and the coffee was quite good. I had an espresso followed by a flat white. The barista is talented.
Brazuca, near as I can tell because I had to Google it, is either 1) common slang for a Brazilian prostitute, or 2) a friendly, non-offensive way Brazilians address themselves. You choose. In a friendly city known far and wide for their sex workers it's at least an amusing coincidence.
The location itself is somewhat bland on a busy corner with plenty of traffic so not exactly a place to relax, and that may be the different in the review status between the three locations. The temperature inside was uncomfortably hot so I sat outside. More a fuel stop to load up and go. If you're coming here you're likely a local, not from 3 jillion miles away like I am, but was in the hood hunting down interesting food. I'd stop again for the jolt, and the wireless was strong so I did stay awhile before moving on.
Though overall they do a nice job here, the coffee culture in the city is fierce with lots of good choices. Still, a solid neighborhood stop. read more
