I have never needed a non-warranty mechanic before. They charged me to diagnose the problem and charged me $800 to repair the problem. Within 24 hours I had the same problem with my car that I had before leaving the car with them for several days. Obviously, the diagnosis was wrong and the repair unnecessary. I called them to ask what we needed to do next. They wanted to charge an additional $4000 to repair another diagnosis that may not repair my issue, Very disappointed that they didn't get the diagnosis correct and that they wouldn't work with me on crediting the unnecessary repair. I originally asked them to coordinate with a dealership in Navasota, TX, to perform a pre-sale inspection. They did inform me of a Check Engine light, but told me it was related to a faulty hood latch. This turned out not to be the issue. Instead, it actually deals with the Selective Catalyst Reduction (SCR)/NOx reduction system reporting levels below acceptable levels. While I can't specifically prove that they were derelict in their diagnosis, I find it hard to believe that they didn't catch this issue. I bought an OBD II scanner on Amazon and discovered the problem right away. They were professional and courteous, which should me lauded, but I'm still disappointed this issue wasn't caught during the inspection.
