Second time at this Brazos location, but guts been years! A nice meet up with my Hoo Daughter. Surface parking is easy and nearby the building. No debris in sight. Service absolutely stood out immediately from just entering and being seated. Then quickly a server took our order. We kept it light with chips & guacamole and a few tacos. I just got chicken and rice no shell. Our energetic server had waters out quickly! The atmosphere is nice. A small bar for drinks and decent size dining room. Everything was clean. Food hit within 15 minutes and everyone enjoyed what they had. In especially loved the guacamole & chips. Check came when asked and settled on a machine with tip. Definitely will be back. read more

I don't understand HOW brazos is still even open considering their food is so overpriced and genuinely so bad. ANY taco place in town is better genuinely and the one time every few years someone talks me into giving them another try it always is a disappointment. Genuinely their food is so bad. Today my bf wanted to give them a try for brunch so for takeout we ordered the empanadas and breakfast burrito to share, I got an Austin morning taco and he had the migas and el guapo. Every taco was a 1-2/5. The Austin morning I had was completely bland and flavorless and the meat was so tough it got caught in between my teeth when I tried to bite it. Yuck. The meat tasted old and we ordered around 8am right when they should've opened. It was not tasting fresh at all. The mashed potatoes sucked all the flavor out and it just tasted like a big blob of mush and tough meat. The breakfast burrito is a 1/5. Small and overpriced it comes with cheese potato eggs and chorizo. It is so completely bland and terrible and I wish there was some sort of sauce because this was just like plain egg and potato in a wrap. The chorizo is why I'm giving this a 1/5 bc WTF? This was NOT chorizo. This was ground beef??? They tried to pass off ground beef as chorizo which is NOT the same thing and to make things worse the ground beef was DISGUSTING! It literally tasted like straight cloves and nothing else. WHO is seasoning their food bc this tasted so so bad. The empanadas were the only half decent thing we ordered. They actually surprisingly felt sort of authentic and even then were maybe a 3/5. Authentic flavor aside they were just sort of plain and the amount of grease they came soaking in was just sort of off putting despite the flavor being palatable. Sorry brazos. Maybe 10 years ago when you opened in IX art park you knew how to make a decent taco but those days are long gone. Resting on your laurels especially with a second location is just a shame and the food here hasn't been good for years. Please fix your food before you get run out by every other better taco place in town. I will not be eating here again. read more

The amount of fries you get, holy moly!! I'll have to go back just for the fries!! Also, the guacamole, salsa, and cheese dip were phenomenal. Perfectly thin crispy hot chips too! The blackened shrimp taco was too spicy for my personal preference and that sort of overpowered the flavor but I will have to go again and try something else because the quality of the food was great! read more

A pleasant neighborhood place for tacos, margarita's and beers. Super friendly vibe--families with kids, joggers with their dogs, groups of university students and middle-aged couples (that would be me and my wife). The service was warm, welcoming and efficient. Although it was a busy Saturday night, we were greeted warmly and shown to a table within minutes. Shortly thereafter, the server arrived an took our order. The tacos arrived in about 10 minutes later. The tacos themselves were good, not great. I thought that they could've had more flavor and that their temperature could've been hotter. Still overall it was a positive experience. A good place to gather with friends without breaking the bank. Location was convenient as well. This is a beautiful restaurant! The atmosphere here is perfect-Upscale and relaxed at the same time! They have a lot of nice drink options-and offer pitchers of mimosas and margaritas to make your day! The nachos were excellent! The chips are super light and crunchy!! I would recommend them highly! I recently went here for a weekend brunch with two friends and thought Brazos Tacos was fine. We came without a reservation but were able to get seated immediately. The service and ambiance were good and the prices were reasonable. I started with the coffee which was outstanding-extremely flavorful. We shared the dip sampler (queso, salsa, and guacamole), all of which were good. The chips were fresh and had good crunch. I got the taco sampler, which was disappointing. First timers for us. This place has only been open for a few months so there were not a reviews to go off on this visit. Staff and service were spot on. No complaints. My wife and I both got Margarita's which were really good (Watermelon was excellent). For our food, I got the La Tia (which is like eating meatloaf, mash potato's and corn all in one) - so good ! I also got the Nacho Taco but ended up taking that home since I filled up on chips and salsa. My wife got the Star-nitas and The Solid. She finished both. Ordered two of the Sir Paul tacos. I was grateful for the vegan options, and I will say, the flavor of these tacos was wonderful! The only downside is that for the price, these should have about double the filling. I left hungry, which is always unfortunate and not justified for the price. I still can't wrap my head around why folks flock to Brazo's. I've given several attempts with different menu items - appetizer samplers, many different tacos (especially breakfast tacos, my typical go-to), and the like, and always found myself quite disappointed. The food seems to lack seasoning, even a simple salt and pepper. Using the salsas provided does help, but it's quite difficult to recover from a total lack of seasoning. I recall even the queso not being up to par, with a strange gelatinous texture. The drinks though, are quite nice. Whether a good margarita or some of the NA options - I enjoy the watermelon juice - this is a good place for that. I want to like this place so much, the inside is spacious and clean, and the staff are fast and friendly. But the food is just below expectations. I went in and ordered a margarita and a taco for Cinco de mayo. Only six or seven tables in the whole restaurant. I ordered one taco and a margarita. Twenty minutes later my taco still wasn't delivered. I looked through the window into the kitchen and saw my taco in the window with multiple employees passing by it including one of the bartenders (important because I was sitting at the bar). I'm an industry professional and in every restaurant I've ever worked out the big thing is hot food goes first. I was almost willing to overlook this and just ask for them to give me my taco from the window until I saw a roach scurring in front of my feet in front of the bar. A roach. I just about gagged. Instead I told the bartenders I'd like to pay and sited the time it took. I felt no need to mention the insect because I'm sure they know about it. In summary if you want hot food served quickly in a clean insect free restaurant perhaps you'd be more well served to visit Taco Bell, were at least they Taco well. read more

Tacos on a wet deck, serenaded. It was the 'grand opening' of the already open restaurant, Parientes Mx, an H-burg Mexican band was rocking the parking lot. They deserved a crowded club fueled my Modelos. So, the food-- Ask your waiter for his favorite and, if you've the right one, you get a mix that is part off the menu, but fully on point. That was a winner. As was the happy hour discount. Just order a bunch of different stuff-- and the brussel sprouts. The service at this Texas made establishment is an embarrassment to Texas. Not one care was given from being greeted at the door to sitting at the bar. The bar tender, or the person I assume may have had a management position, was completely useless. Didn't acknowledge us, didn't ask for our food or drink orders until asked, and couldn't give common courtesy. Lastly, I'm from Texas and the food at this particular establishment was trash. The company needs to take a hard look at the way this establishment is run. I will not be returning to this place unless management gives me an apology and explanation for their sub-par product. read more

I love this new location! They have lovely outdoor seating, and the staff was very helpful. They do use an online ordering system once you're in the restaurant, but I found it easy to figure out. I strongly recommend the watermelon jalapeno margarita. My personal favorite tacos are the pork star, the solid, and the chimichurri steak and potatoes. This place is pricey! I did enjoy both tacos I had, although the pork taco was fairly dry. I also had Brussels sprouts. They were tasty but were large. I mentioned that a knife would be helpful, and the waiter laughed and said in texas, they use their hands... I'm not in Texas, and I don't eat Brussels with my fingers. I did get my drink comped, not sure if he realized the comment was unnecessary, and I was never offered a knife. Overall, it is fairly clean. I recently visited Brazos during their Barracks' soft opening for lunch with a friend. They're currently only doing lunch hours for their soft opening. I was so happy to find out that they have birria tacos on their menu since I've been craving them for awhile. I ordered the quesabirria platter and it was fantastic. My tacos were hot and the cheese was perfectly melted and had a great cheese pull. The brisket meat was flavorful and wasn't dry. I enjoyed dipping my tacos in the consommé sauce which added even more richness and flavor to them. My friend got the fish aficionado and carnitas which seemed pretty good from what I heard, although the carnitas were a bit dry. We sat in their outdoor area which had ample seating and was perfect since it was a sunny and beautiful day out. The staff was also very attentive to check on our experience and refill our waters. I could see Brazos becoming a great place to grab drinks and tacos during the summer. read more

The tacos cost five dollars and have almost nothing in them. I got a brisket taco on a six inch tortilla and it literally had only a heaping tablespoon of meat in it. Plus the brisket was stringy and dry. Portions were similarly small for the other 10 tacos ordered at our table. The other location across town is much more consistently high-quality. Maybe the chefs here need more training or supervision? read more

The service was fine. I'm not sure if it's because it was a soft opening of this location but the tacos were VERY dry (even the tableside sauce they offer didn't help). Some of the items that were on the menu they did not have, not until May at least. I wouldn't order anything with the "Mashed Potatoes", it looked like it came out of a bag and extremely glutinous. I was expecting chunky flavorful potatoes but these were just so bad. The guacamole was needed more of everything but the avocado. I would say fresher, more wholesome ingredients to be honest. When we walked in we thought we were going to get some good tacos but, first our waitress was not dressed appropriately. Our food took forever to come out and when we received our food some of it was cold, there was rice in the water (none of us ordered anything with rice), the tacos were basically completely filled with beans and then the soft taco was in fact not soft it was stale. While we were eating our food one of the staff accidentally dropped a cup of water and instead of any of the staff cleaning up the water with ice they decided to take place a wet dirty rag in the floor on top of the pile of ice. But they did add caution sign so, that's how okay. This is not the first bad experience with this company. We previously went to one of there other locations and did not find the food appetizing. Our bill was 90 dollars and I don't find that our food was worth anywhere near 90. It was probably closer to 15 dollars. read more
