We got two different mole: pork (pictured) and chicken. The staff was super friendly, which we were not expecting given how many rules the website seems to have. The mole were both tasty but were a little salty for my taste

Mezcaltini

ENFRIJOLADAS are ridiculously good. Mezcaltini is so smooth. Tres leches is amazing. Service was on point. This place is a must.

Great food, great service and great vibe. Best mole I've had outside of Mexico. All-star dishes include the carnitas and the pulpo. Both are perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. Spicing is there, but not overpowering. The point is flavor not showing off max capsaicin. Drinks list is short but solid. Same with the overall menu. This is about quality not all-you can eat corp Tex-Mex big box. Apps: Reservations via Resy (recommended as this place is super popular). Limited (No Take out Fridays and Saturdays) online takeout orders via Toast.

We had a terrific dinner at Conmole last night. The halibut ceviche special was so fresh and tasty. We then split the mole guajillo with pork ribs and the pulpo for dinner. The food was excellent and the service was terrific. I appreciated that the dishes came out of the kitchen sequentially. My margarita was very good, smooth. We sat outside and were impressed that every table has a personal fan overhead, keeping the air moving even in summer.

I am not a huge mole person, but I wondered if that was just because I've not had it done right. Or because this sauce is usually offered with non-vegetarian meals. This restaurant offered a potential solution to both issues, so I figured I'd give it a try. The neighborhood is quite cramped, and the restaurant itself has a smallish feel with only one bathroom. It was busy on a warm summer evening, but the only question was whether I would get a table outdoors or in. Indoors, it turned out. Their menu is mostly based around mole but does have a few other flavors, and most of them are available "no carne". Unlike a lot of Mexican food, the cuisine here was not built around dairy at all; some menu items listed a dusting of cheese on top but this was a place that was used to handling special dietary needs and it would not be hard to get a satisfying vegan meal here. Even though I'm not a cauliflower person, I still had enough choices that I had to think, and ended up settling on a black mole with corn cakes, green beans, and avocado. This freed me up to get a mushroom empanada as an appetizer. The empanada was flaky to the extreme and I was surprised it was only one, but the flavors were interesting and I appreciated the local mushrooms. The main attraction was more impressive. The sauce had a hint of chocolate, but it wasn't weird or overwhelming, and spicy, nutty flavors shone through, which worked very well with the corn cakes. It was the kind of thing that makes you think about licking the plate. A pomegranate agua fresca was sparkly and delivered a flavor kick. Not seeing a ton of dessert options open in Charlottesville, I went for a mango berry coconut dessert which had nice fresh berries but oddly not quite as much of a mango flavor as I'd hoped. It's on the pricey side for a casual restaurant, but the cuisine was both redolent of another culture but also distinctively local, and worth coming for.

Mole Negro with chicken, rice

Probably the best Mexican food I have ever had. Super nice outdoor dining area and great waiter. The Mole Negro con Pollo was so good and the side of rice was the best rice I have ever had. Great drinks too!

I came here with a friend, and we tried the Margarita, Chicken Tamale, Coliflor, Ceviche, and Chicken Mole. I thought all the entrees were tasty and cooked well. My favorites were their Ceviche and the Chicken Mole, and I would definitely order these again in a heartbeat.   The classic margarita was good but not amazing. It was tasty but not strong enough to my liking. And in my opinion, there are better tasting margs for cheaper in Charlottesville. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't the best margarita I've ever had.   The Chicken Tamale was good. It was very comforting. The tamale was perfectly cooked, had a nice mild spice level, and was moist inside.   The Coliflor was good too. The sauce leaned on the sour and acidic side. I wasn't a fan of the slight sourness, but my friend really liked it. And I appreciate the carefully constructed flavor profile of the dish. I liked how the acidic sauce cut through the fattiness of the egg.   The Ceviche was really bright and refreshing. It had the perfect acidity. Super delicious.   The Chicken Mole was amazing. I could take a bath in the sauce. I liked that the dish had a nice balance between sweet and bitter. And the chicken was cooked perfectly.   Overall, Conmole was amazing and everything I tried tasted great. I can't wait to come back and try the other items on their menu.

Went back AGAIN...with friends. Food was great. Server seemed to be annoyed by something. Told us the restaurant was family style and then encouraged us to order like 10 dishes. That's crazy. We each got one entree and called it a night. Food was great as usual but the vibe was off tonight. Still highly recommended. Dinner for five plus four drinks was $229 with the mandatory 20% gratuity.

The best Mexican food in Charlottesville, but certainly not great Mexican food. Pricey for the quality.

AMBIANCE We rolled in on a late evening hoping to feed our…read moreMexican cravings and stay toasty. Gives the rave review of how underrated this spot was, we decided to give it a go. It's a small spot on the side of High Street that's probably easily missed. Gratefully had parking spots right outside and when we walked it, we were immediately greeted. We took a few minutes to scan the large menu on the board and the more comprehensive one on the counter. We ordered the quesadillas, fajitas, and pixie and were cautioned that that would be an enormous portion (very much appreciated the honesty on that one and was true). We ordered it anyway since that's what we were craving! It's a small spot with 3 booths and a few smaller table areas. SERVICE Quick service spot where you order at the counter, find seating, and 10 minutes or so later your food is made in the kitchen and can be picked up at the pick-up counter a few steps away. We picked up our quesadillas and fajitas from the counter, and our pozole with pork was brought over to us with tortillas, cilantro, and onions. FOOD Absolutely delicious and so worth the value! The quesadillas were chunky with chicken and pozole was hearty and well spiced. Loved every bite of the pork, cilantro, and hominy!!! Can't find this in a lot of spots and so glad they do it here. The beef fajitas were also well done with a solid portion of sautéed vegetables and 3-4 tortillas! OVERALL Absolutely agree that this spot is underrated and a gem....quick, no frills unassuming spot with friendly staff that never disappoints. Would 11/10 recommend if you want Mexican food. We've already got this spot pinned for Mexican in C'ville favorites and are looking forward to going for our third time to try out more options.

It was flavorful but it was hard and the pork seemed old and dry. Maybe it was recycled or maybe they microwaved it to death. But I could not finish it. It was authentic but it was not what you would want to serve. I debated taking it back to the counter. I ordered two tacos. They are usually great. Today, nope. The Cabrito was okay today and the carnitas a little fatty. But the most disappointing thing is that they were not hot. Maybe they died in the window, but dead they were when they hit my table. The only thing saving the experience was the tostada...and the homemade tortillas on the tacos. All fresh. Even the signature sauce stand was different. The sauces today seemed very runny compared to how they usually present. I did get a fountain Pepsi and it was perfect. Overall, love the new spot and the decor. I will go back because i live their food. Assuming today was just an off day.

It has an extreme upscale Mexican feel which for me is new. Truly stunning pieces of decoration. The drinks are creative and the "vessels" they're served in are truly unique. I saw one table that got shot delivered in an airplane. The service here was good. Not incredibly great. The man who helped us was attentive and tried his best to serve us. But felt like there was quite a bit of pressure on him to get the orders right. And things that would seem simple became more complex. I feel as though the menu should help guide the customer a bit more on how to place orders. For example margaritas are listed but doesn't tell you that you need to select size, rocks, slush, rim type, and fruit selection. It was just overall confusing and could be felt by our waiter. The food is good. On par with much of its competitors in the area. It tastes fresh and feels like they have a bevy of quality options. The largest glaring problem with this restaurant is the price point. Unbelievably expensive. It has the price point of high end establishment but the quality just does not match what you get. It almost feels like they had to jack up the prices to cover the costs of the decor in this place. I would go again but quite honestly I don't know if I'd be willing to pay that price twice. Go at your own discretion.

A vegetarian would be happy here but maybe not a vegan. A person who only eats breakfast will be overjoyed to see eggs on the menu. They have an hibiscus drink you should try for variety's sake. I'd also get the hand pressed tortillas when on offer and free yourself from flour. Service is ordering at the pass and they drop off the food. Ambiance is medium to loud depending on the time of day. Give the patio a try then go for a walk around for a bit before getting back in the car. Also, the fan in the bathroom sounds like a death metal band at sound check.
