Can't beat a Wisconsin brat! I had the veal brat with sour kraut, and home made pickled red cabbage. While it wasn't the most amazing brat ever, it was pretty darn good! I didn't love the German potato salad, but did love the fried cheese curds! Sometimes, nothing can compare to fried food and beer! On a side note, there is a store attached where you can buy all the new glarus beer you want to take home! read more

While this place could use some serious updating to what I would consider a very dingy place, it is still a great time, with good food, and the store offers a ton of goodies to take home. We were there over the weekend and happened to sop in on the night when My Metal Heart was playing. Great band, super fun! read more

For a place the specializes in brats I was unimpressed. I've cooked many a better Johnsonville in my back yard. The nachos were less than park district ball park quality. The cheese curds were average. The place is pretty dirty. The red cabbage was decent-I'm guessing since it was the first time I've ever had it cooked. read more

Great food and the cheese curds are excellent!

Large building with restaurant, deli. We stopped here as its right on the border to pick up our spotted cow, brats and cheese.

I have always loved the Brat Stop, been coming her since the 90s. Big space and sometimes they have bands. But the main attraction is .........Brats. Shocking I know. And they have several kinds. Cajun, Garlic, others, but I forget. I always get Cajun Brats and I am always satisfied. The ambience is like a tavern, but it's big. read more

My husband and I like to stop here when we are in the area. We never had any issues up until today! We sat at the bar and ordered our beverages, everything is good so far. Our bartender was an older guy maybe 50, he seemed nice not very personable but wasn't a big deal. Ordered our food which consisted of a Caesar's salad and a cup of chili for me and my husband had the same. After let's say a few bites I'm looking at my salad and I see this bug walking around in my SALAD OMG I immediately pushed it away and showed my husband and he showed the bartender that was helping us and a girl who hadn't helped us what was in my salad, the response was oh... grabbed the salad and walked away. We didn't get any sort of I'm so sorry, can I get you anything else ....nothing!!! We could care less about the $8 salad being charged for obviously we are there to eat. But seriously where is the common sense here? The bartender did not remove the salad from our bill, his response when we asked him... well a fruit fly clearly flew on your salad while sitting here at the bar and it's not my fault you didn't eat it!!!! I was shocked... my husband has a restaurant, 35 years! I'm a bartender for 20 years!!! Never in my life would I tell a customer my personal opinion, regardless! The customer is always right and it is your job to go above and beyond to make things right and get that customer to come back to that establishment. The bug in my salad was not a fruit fly, it was something else, I don't know but bottom line I was grossed out and the bartender could have cared less to make things right. Here's the problem if the owner of the establishment is not around this is the type of things that happen. We will never return to this place again. Never in my life has this ever happened to us. read more

The Brat stop is a huge dive bar / concert venue that is stuck in the 80's....and I love ever bit of it! If you are looking for a sleek pub with cozy atmosphere, don't go here. But, if you are looking to experience some excellent artery clogging food in a truly unique atmosphere, you are home. I actually stopped at the Brat Stop twice in the same weekend. Both times, I went with the Jalapeno Cheddar Bratwurst. Wow, was it amazing. A true masterpiece of encased meat. The deep fried cheddar cheese curds were also delicious. The wings we very large and flavorful. Overall, a great experience. I will surely stop at the Brat Stop on my next stop through the area. read more

In our travels through Wisconsin, this is another place we like to stop for lunch. From the outside, it does not seem that big. The place is recessed from the main street and frontage road. At first it seems like you walkd into a little cheese and sausage shop, and then you see the restaurant and bar looming large. In front of the restaurant entrance is a giant stuffed bear with a Chicago Bears #50 jersey (Singletary) suspended from a rope. You realize this is Packers country and cheeseheads rule these parts. I'll go along with that. While brats with kraut or grilled onions are the main thing to get here, the burgers and fish dinners are just as solid of a choice. Come by on a Friday for the fish fry here too. On the way out, stop in the cheese and sausage shop and pick up some cheese curds and beef sticks. While I've never come on game days, I bet this place rocks during Packer games. read more

I am visiting and hit up the Brat Shop. Great vibe, a mix of locals and clearly a local establishment. Great brats and the buns were yummy.

Good food, good people, good place to stop on the way between Chicago and points north. Oh yeah. The best thing about this place... a great place to stock up on your Packers paraphernalia before heading back to Bear country. Let's go Green and Gold. read more

Go for the cheese curds! I tried the Grilled Cheese with ham and mushrooms. It was good but it was more like a Ham with some grilled cheese. I was expecting way more cheese on a grilled cheese at a Wisconsin Cheese Shop. Guess I will go for the Brats next time. read more

I wish i could give no stars to this tourist crap. Its not even worthy being called a tourist trap. The pizza is by far the worst i have ever had. I feel like vomiting as i right this and can wait to get home and have a hot tea to settle my stomach. The cheese sticks had the cheese cooked right out of them so we had empty bread tubes. My daughter ordered the spinach artichoke dip. She gets it handed to her with a spoon it and nothing to put it on. When i asked the waitress if the chips or something was coming she looked confused. Like its normal for a kid to sit down with a bowl of dip and just eat it with a spoon. So the bread comes and its smashed toasted hotdog buns. WTF?!?! I would not eat food from here if it was served to me in a prison. read more

A quick review: A fun and touristy place to grab a drink and a very fresh and delicious brat with yummy potato salad. Very good coffee is always a plus! I've always had good service, but I can see how that may differ during very busy times. read more

I've loved this place for 40 +years. The prices are too high but the nostalgia makes up for what would be three stars. Get bigger brats, you're making hand over fist, and load up on kraut. And stop charging so much for Spotted Cow, it's great beer but don't gouge. read more

Love this place! A great place to eat and enjoy some beer, brats and entertainment. Onion rings are awesome, brats are great and the coleslaw was fantastic! Americana at its best. read more

Always great brats. Nice and friendly service. This is a Kenosha mainstay. Everyone should try it.

Decent place to eat but don't go if you require a service animal. It took an argument in order to get into the restaurant but then we were treated like lepers and seated in our own separate section away from everyone else. After dinner we tried to sing some karaoke in the beer garden and were told to leave because of my service animal by a very rude manager and very ignorant security guy. Nobody was interested in learning the federal law concerning service animals and didn't care that I needed my service dog, which didn't bother anyone in the restaurant and is extremely well behaved. Their reason was that they have signs stating no dogs allowed and didn't care that they were violating federal law and discriminating. read more

I would have never come here, but my husband heard great reviews from his athletes (who would drive the 30 something miles on their lunch break to get a brat!) You can see the sign from the highway "CHEESE" :) Anyway, we just wanted to see what the big deal was, so we ordered a cheddar brat to go and it was delicious!! We also did a little shopping in the store and bought some frozen brats to grill at home. We got the jalapeno cheddar ones and I can't wait to try them! I don't know if i'd drive up there specifically for the brats, but if i'm in the area, I might make a stop :) read more

So, the Brat Stop is just one of those places you've "got to experience." The food is decent, the atmosphere is roadhouse (see the movie Roadhouse for a better explanation) and the staff is fine. Nothing i've had here, including their brats, have blown me away, yet you've got to go at least once. They also have a decent little road shop. It is a fun place to see a football game (especially Bears and Packers. read more

This place is a classic. Its a huge building with a large stage/show area. The decor is typical old Wisconsin and not much updating it appears. However this is not the type of place you are coming to because of the decor or ambiance. It is all about the food here and the brats especially. I had the Wednesday special which was an huge ovrsized brat. I ordered mine with the German potato salad and saurkraut as sides. The brat itself was one of the best I ever had and has been that way for ever for mefrom this place. The German potato salad was very good. Not too sour like many of the others out there. The kraut was ok. Good but have had better. One complaint was the bun. It was a bit stale. But the service was great. In the cheese shop there has a great selection of cheese without a doubt. The beer selection is ok. Not huge like in some liquor stores but they do have some local brews that you probably will not see in but a few places in Wisnosin. This is a must stop at least once in a while when you are coming through the area. There are a variety of menu items including some German dishes. If you like this type food you will really like this place. read more

There is a reason the place has been there since the 1960's! The place is huge and I don't think there has ever been a wait for a table or booth! Its not fancy, but huge variety and everything is great! Cool wait staff and cool people everywhere! When I was in college at Marquette, my parents used to take me there. Then I continued to go on my own! I have gone there for awesome Halloween parties and now we have taken my 2 girls! At first, they weren't sure, but now they LOVE the place! The huge Chicago Bear is awesome and they love to go upstairs! Great variety of brats (of course!), sandwiches, beers on tap, etc! We talk about trying other places but often end up there! read more

Spent this Friday evening at the Brat Stop, had a great time as usual. In fact , we had such a good time that we changed our Saturday evening plans and returned to the Brat Stop again. I ordered the Saturday special, King Size Prime Rib. It was exactly as ordered and tasted great. Thanks to Steve, Lizard and Beth for the excellent service and another good weekend at the Brat Stop. We will be back. read more

Not bad if your preference is limp tasteless brats and prime rib sandwich with more fat than meat. Sensory overload with wall to wall monitors. loud radio music and a noisy bart. read more

As I am currently sitting here trying to eat lunch, I'm finding myself swatting away more fruit flies than actually eating. It doesn't make eating enjoyable and it does make me question whether I should continue eating.. If there's that many fruit flies, maybe someone should take the time to actually.....clean? Won't be back to this place after this unappetizing meal. read more

The brat stop is best described as a highway stop. Like other highway stops, this place has a lot of parking space, a lot of seating, a quick in - quick out feel, a gift shop, and a unique angle. What makes this four stars is the menu. There were a lot of different choices and varieties. I went with the jalapeno cheddar brat and it was just so-so. Next time, I'll be able to try something completely different. The service was nothing to be impressed with, nor was I disappointed - just indifferent. My girlfriend was able to get a full vegetarian meal (even despite the name of the place) and the price of our meal was as to be expected. The gift shop was a little nicer than I expected. There were various cheeses and meats, some fresh baked goods, shirts, mugs, cheese-head hats and other such trinkets. read more

We come here all the time to shop in the store. I have never actually eaten in the restaurant, but we LOVE their brats to cook on the grill at home. My favorites are cajun and garlic. You can get them fresh or frozen. The hubby also loves their dried sausage made by local guy. He can't get enough of it and buys them out whenever we go there. read more

Everything that we ordered was delicious - from the fried cheese curds, cheese soup, brats & beer. Love that they have a cheese shop in the back. I'm taking a little bit of Wisconsin home with me to Jersey...well if I don't eat it first. read more

So it's been a few days since I was here, and let's just say the service wasn't memorable enough to remember lots of it. So here are the details as I can remember them. It's kinda high priced in my mind for a bar, especially with the overall If I remember correctly, ti was only one free refill on the non-alcoholic beverages. This is kind of against the norm these days. I got an order of cheese curds, which I found to be happier with the portion size, and quality of them, at Culvers.... This is not a good sign. Perhaps I just got a bad batch, but I wasn't impressed with the cost, compared to what I got. Again, compared to Culvers. I believe the only other thing ordered at the table was a some sandwhich. It certainly was consumable, but nothing special. Overall it was ho-hum on the food front, and a bit less than ho-hum on the service front from the beer garden Bar Tender. I will chalk it up to a bad night on the staff's end, and hope that the next visit is better. read more

Grossly over rated even with 3 stars. Waited 30 minutes to be seated, could even walk up to the bar to get a drink while waiting. Bartender was rude and refused to get me anything because I was standing in the "COVID" space, 10 seconds to hand me a Coke and I would be gone. That was my first experience, The waitress was very nice and professional, so I had hope. But then the food came. Several dishes were under cooked, the rest was okay but not worth the price. I rarely write bad reviews but after this experience I felt obligated. There are plenty of good restaurants near by that will treat you better. As someone who travels for a living I have a lot of experience to compare service, not serving someone a soda is a new one one me. Fire that grumpy old bartender and hire people who are professional and present would be a good start. The Cheese shop on the other hand was pricey but the cheese was very good. I will likely visit the cheese shop in the future. read more

A Wisconsin landmark that has identity issues. A big Cubs and Bears hangout!? One of my last visits, I was challenged by some old drunken Cubs idiot to 'go outside' for reasons I still don't know. I'm sure this made good story for his blue-haired wife when he returned back to his sterile Chicago suburb. Outside of this, it is a good sports bar circa 1983. Don't be surprised if Patrick Swayze shows up in 'Roadhouse III." Can be a rough crowd when the bands play on Saturday night. Food is good Wisconsin fare. Bartenders are generally very good and they move things along. It is what it is, but the Cubs/Bears thing must pay the bills. For the best food across the border, visit Little Europe! read more
