Great beer selection, pretty good brats, and awesome fries! Crunchy on the outside, just how I like em. They have something like 40 beers on tap so you can drink a lot of beer without getting the same one twice. I would love to see this place when it's busy, because it's enormous! Would be good fun. read more

Absolutely disgusting! The place is filthy. The chairs were covered in stains. The tables were sticky and rocked back and forth because they were broken. The bathroom stunk like vomit. They were out of just about all the specials. The food they did have was gross. Burger was not cooked, grilled cheese had a dark black hair in it and the wrap was moldy. STAY AWAY...DIRTY DISGUSTING OVERPRICED CRAP AND THE SERVICE IS EVEN WORSE!!! THIS PLACE IS A HEALTH HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!!! read more

Went on a Friday night during trivia which had constant sexual innuendo in songs . Music blasted my ears so bad I had to go to pharmacy afterwords from pain. Waiter said general manager runs trivia and doesn't care. Took off mask to explain to me since music was so loud. I threw half my food out. Creepy vibe through and through. GM shares honest negative reviews during trivia. Go for it. read more

Customer is definitely not right at this restaurant and if the blonde headed waitress behind the bar makes a mistake be prepared for an argument. I can accept that I'm soft spoken and the background is noisy and that you might might not hear me correctly when I say ribeye sandwich and you think I said prime rib sandwich but my order was ribeye sandwich with the onions and mushrooms which is the options for their ribeye sandwich "not" their prime rib sandwich and as a waitress you might question why I'm ordering onions and mushrooms on a prime rib sandwich even if you think that's what I said. Which she didn't write down at all and I know she heard and didn't come out on the prime rib sandwich she served me up. Then went on to argue with me about what I ordered almost causing a scene. Until I let her know I wasn't going to argue with her and should have just left at this point. It was a simple mistake anyone could make in a noisy atmosphere with music playing and myself being soft spoken. However Staff refusing to accept they had misheard me, calling me a liar, trying to argue with me just shy of causing a scene and souring my mood for the next several hours means I won't return and wouldn't recommend anyone else going either unless you want to risk the same aggravation. read more

Liz bar tender worthless all over the place not focused possible drug user. I saw 8 different groups of people get up from the bar and walked away. It has been over 20 years since I've been there and god willing it will be over 20 years till I go back. We all ordered a cheese burger... the kids burger was fine, he ate all... he was hungry. We were asked how we wanted our burgers done, both medium, why ask when they both came out over done had American cheese, I don't know where the cheese went but when they served the burger you could tell that it was there.... but where it went by the time it was served I am still wondering ..... 3.29 up charge for onion rings which were under cooked... asked for a side of mayo, they gave you packaged mayo, really? The place was packed, I can't imagine it was because of the food or service because both were HORRIBLE read more

I have been coming here for decades and I awarding three stars only because I'm hoping my latest visit was an anomaly. My "Traditional" brat was cooked to a point that it was completely dried out and the skin was like leather. Served stone cold. The fries were great and the Stella was cold. So it wasn't a horrible lunch, but a huge disappointment and the brat was the wurst I've had anywhere. I'll be back because of my previous experiences but I consider this visit strike one. read more

The Brat Stop is a great place to go for a beer or a bite to eat. PROS: Like live music? They've got some decent bands that come though. It's right off the Interstate at the IL/WI border which makes it a great place to meet halfway with friends from Chicago or Milwaukee. The food is tasty and the beer selection is really good and there's a lot of "Only In Wisconsin" brews. Cheese and Beer shop has a nice selection. Cheese prices are a little lower than the MARS Cheese Castle down the way but not as many choices. CONS: You're paying for being right on the Interstate. Food is good but a little pricey for what you get. $10 for a brat is kinda high, even if they're made fresh there at the Brat Stop. The website is all over the place and the event calendar may be incomplete. Went this last weekend and got a group of 20 to meet up there. They put us right by where a band was doing a 40 minute soundcheck - the place wasn't that packed and there was NO MENTION OF A BAND on the website for the night. read more

Good Mary. Good food. AND they played "The Bears Still Suck" by the Happy Schnapps Combo, which was awesome! I am not a Packers fan. I AM a Bears fan, but it is what it is, and I'm more of a Jonathon Brandmeier fan, and appreciate the humor! read more

The ultimate in roadside dive bars. The brats are amazing, and every time I drive to Wisconsin I stop here both coming and coming back. Nothing better to start a weekend than a schooner of New Glarus and a brat or two. Place isn't exactly classy; at what it is, it is excellent. read more

Figuring that it's called the Brat Stop, you pretty much know what your going to get. We came here for lunch and to watch some of the football games (we're not packers fans and they were not playing). They have an abundance of TVs and NFL Red zone so you should be able to find any game you want to watch. We ordered the Jalapeño Cheddarwurst and the Polish Sausage. It was quick, hot and as good as one would expect for bar food. I liked that they have an extensive list of New Glarus beers on tap. Also noted that this place is family friendly with arcade games and plenty of seating away from the bar. read more

Avoid like the plague. If you enjoy eating at a filthy bar and unsanitary conditions than enjoy. Everything appeared to be microwave and frozen. This was a staple in my youth but has slipped into dirty sub par pub food. Wait staff drinking and hanging out with customers like it was no problem. Not to mention I became physically sick after eating this over priced meal. Never ever again!! read more

Didn't eat here just stopped in since we were coming in from Illinois the kids wanted to stop somewhere, well I wish I would have picked a different souviner shop. The older woman behind the counter was rude and unprofessional the way she talked to our family. I guess I would describe her like a snooty know it all. Just not friendly at all. Cheese was ok. read more

The food was very bland and poorly prepared. the facility itself was not very clean. The service was horrible

I want to love this place I really do. Drinks are good. Food is pretty awful. The service... ugh. The service is absolutely horrible except for maybe 2 waitresses and 1 waiter. Because iam a local I probably will stop by for a drink at the back bar. Two stars is all I can give. read more

Will not go back. I've been there several times - so on the way back from a sporting event in WI, we decided to stop here for a beer and some lunch. We had 10 people and were easily accomodated. We ordered friend cheese curds and fried mushrooms - which really, are hard to mess up. They were fine. All of us ordered brats - which came with a choice of chips, German potato salad or FF. I ordered the garlic brat and German potato salad. I bit into my brat expecting a juicy bite filled with garlic and other awesome spices. It was like dried leather. I thought maybe mine was bad, so I tried others. All the same. Also, the German Potato salad has way too much sugar in it. Our server was really, really slow. She brought out 7 meals and forgot the other 3. Also, my nephew asked how big the turkey sandwich was (he's a big eater and had just fnished a cross country meet) and she said "oh, it's big, like any sandwich we serve." I prompted her..."how big, like sandwich bread, half a loaf of French bread...what?" She got flustered and said "it's really big." Fine. My nephew's sandwich arrived (one of the first 7) and he immediatley ordered another meal as she set it down. She thought he was kidding, he assured him he was not, as did his father. His meal finally came after about 20 more minutes - with no apology. The kicker, our quick lunch cost $174. Yep. Gratuity was added in (which is fine for parties of 6 or more) but jeez, I still would like good food and service. Nice novelty, good beer, great cheese shop...that's what gives it 2 stars. read more

Awesome place! Great food and great entertainment! Try the Jalapeno Cheddar Brat, it is delicious! Oh and don't forget about the Potato Salad. This place never lets me down. The only thing I wish they would have more of is 80's rock bands that tour nationwide. But overall its five stars and I don't have to think about that twice. It is hands down one of the best places I have ever been , and I have been to alot of great establishments. So if you are ever in the area, please stop by the Brat Stop and have a great time! You won't regret it! P.S. The Beer is always ice cold! :) read more

Spectacular Bratwursts, Mai Tais and Service! The Brat Stop was recommended to us from one of Mike's family members who grew up about 20 minutes from the Brat Stop. According to the menu, Brat Stop has been world famous since 1961. I ordered a Mai Tai, which was exceptionally prepared by our cheerful and delightful server, Liz. It was outstanding and came in a mug from Hofbrauhaus (a popular brewery/restaurant in Munich)! I was very excited about the mug my Mai Tai came in. My husband ordered a local beer, the Farmhouse Ale Spotted Cow. It was a light beer and he enjoyed it. For lunch, we ordered a Cajun Bratwurst and a Garlic Bratwurst. The Bratwursts were spectacular. The Cajun Bratwurst was described as "Bringing Louisiana cuisine to Wisconsin one wurst at a time." The description of the Garlic Bratwurst was described as follows: "We apologize ahead of time to your significant other, who might be the only one not enjoying this wurst." The Cajun Bratwurst might just have been the best bratwurst I have ever had, and we tried several in Germany three years prior. It was tasty and delicious! We savored every bite. read more

Stopped here today, waited 10 minutes for a server, ordered everything once we saw him. Then waited another 20 minutes and never even got our drinks (a beer, 2 root beers and a water). We left. Plenty of waitstaff, but we noticed our server had a table in another area of the restaurant so I'm not sure how tables are assigned. Either way, they didn't seem at all concerned when we got up and let them know we were leaving. Very disappointed, because we have eaten here before and have really enjoyed it. Will likely never return. read more

I love this place! I think the food is alright at best but my son loves it. Especially the brats. The atmosphere makes up for it. Went there for a quick lunch. Was quite the trip from start to finish. Starting with the food, it was terrible everything was lukewarm whether it was meant to be cold or hot. Our waitress (#7088) made it especially difficult to say anything about the food, when we did she was argumentative. From then on the service was just terrible. Check was wrong, with things added that we never ordered and when we wanted to say something we were unable to since she never returned to the table we had to walk upfront to get anyone's attention. When we left an insufficient tip she confronted us in the parking lot to berate and insult, from the attitude I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the first time she had done this. This was my first time going, and will also be my last. read more

Always wanted to stop here and try their brats over the past 10 years , but was too busy. Finally, had my chance today. I was totally let down. Order regular brats with mustard and kraut for about $11. The kraut was an extra $2. Get on the road and discovered no mustard and no kraut. Total disappointment. read more

So almost passed this one by because of the 3 1/2 star rating. Glad I took the chance on this place. The food was excellent from the perfect char on the brat to the toasted bun. I had the cheddarwurst and my daughter had the best burger. Both were delicious. Typical bar type atmosphere. You have to try the brown mustard at the table it is great. read more

I always love stopping here for a classic brat on my way too and from Wisconsin. Plenty of beers on tap and the grilled cheese is a solid choice. Stick to the fries and avoid the onion rings (too breaded). Great place for watching sports on the enormous amount of televisions. read more

This was a great pick. We were just passing through and chose this based on other Yelp reviews. It was great! We had a brat and the fried walleye. It was more food than we could eat and it was great! I recently visited the Brat Stop as I have occasionally for years and was not impressed. The brats in the restaurant we not particularly good at all, and very overpriced. I also visited the gift shop to stock up like I always do, and again the prices were very expensive for the items. Considering the poor food in the restaurant I opted to limit my purchases considerably from what I normally would have purchased to go. Even the t-shirts and hats which are essentially free advertising for them are way overpriced, so I didn't purchase them for my guests as a souvenir of their visit. The quality has gone down considerably, and the prices have gone up, not a good combination to keep long term customers. Sadly, It's become more an overpriced tourist trap than anything. read more

Everyone knows bad service can ruin a great meal. That was not the case today. We had the best server...David M. What a gentle soul. So personable and nice. Shout out to him. We will be back and hope he is working. Sharon & Family from Roselle, IL. P.S. The Brat was fantastic. read more

Great ambience tho a bit dirty. If it didn't have such swagger I would giv it 1 star. 10 bucks for a basic hot dog or brat? Are you kidding me? I stand corrected, there is a more expensive place to get a hot dog than wrigley field. TBH the brat was nothing special but hats off to this historic institution. read more

Haven't visited this location in quite a while- it's not what it once was at least for dinner. As the restaurant and bar genre is so much better than it once was- it's imperative to provide a quality experience. I was here with a business colleague and it was very much a visit to a simple bar with simple food. As stated above- it was once a better experience. The food was just OK (variety of brats and potato salads, etc) and the beer (Stella) was flat. Damn! read more

The cheese selection is great, the service was poor, the place seemed understaffed and the lady working was annoyed by our request to have a taste before buying a block. We picked up a habanero cheese block, excited to try it out, prices seemed average. Place was clean and well kept. Highly suggest the ghost pepper cheese also. I instantly regret not buying cheese curds. read more

Too "touristy" for my liking. The famous Brats are nothing special....the ambiance during a football game is like any sports bar (loud and obnoxious). Weekend concerts of local bands...for the twenty somethings. High cover charge! Very crowded and loud! The cheese and sausage they sell is over-priced and not a very big selection. As I said..."touristy." read more

This is the worst place. The food was ok but the service was completely awful. Our waiter completely ignored us, we had to flag him down several times. He was rude & acted like we were an inconvenience and essentially threw the check at us without asking if we needed anything else. Then the cashier indicated their piece of junk system wouldn't recognize these "fancy new credit cards with chips in them". But of course we were welcome to use their atm & pay all the extra associated fees. I left there so underwhelmed and fed up. I will never go to this place ever again. If you go there, expect to be ignored by your server so your meal will take forever & bring cash. read more

Honestly, I'm upset. I tried to go here for dinner tonight for some brats and beer at 7:30pm. I was told at the door that there would be a $22 cover for the band that evening which started at 9pm. I just got back from a trip to Kenosha to the world-famous Brat Stop. I live in Illinois and we have different pandemic guidelines, but, I was shocked to see the store filled with people, no one wearing a mask, no one practicing social distancing and snickering at me because I had a mask on. The clerks did not have masks or gloves and I should've just walked out but I didn't. Distressing to see one of the clerks behind the counter cutting cheese and leaning over it while she wrapped it. No hand sanitizer in sight. Won't be going back there for anytime soon read more

An American Classic, great place to watch a football game, or a concert. You can find alot of old 80's bands playing there, it is like a washed up band circuit. If you remember Roadhouse it is kinda like the Double Duece without most of the fighting. Bears/Packers games are always eventful! The brats are great, fresh saurekraut thats homemade. Fresh brewed ice tea if not drinking beer is always exceptional but I always forget to ask what brand they use. It's not Liptons, or if it is the water is better in Wisconsin then. read more

I and the wife was driving back from Green Bay to Chicago, we stopped by the brat shop, my wife ordered a BLT( Lettuce was willted and Tomatos were rotten) and fries and I ordered a beef sandwich and fries, my wife ordered an ice tea and I ordered a Pepsi, first thing I noticed was the table was dirty and flies enjoying themselves divebombing our heads, Fries were cold, and the beef sandwich I ordered was Gauchos beef ( awful tasting) which is sold at most store freezer departments, the Pepsi came in a can and the waitress asked me if I wanted some ice in a glass, I said yes, when I poured the pepsi in the glass I could see how dirty the glass was. All of this for $ 35! I can't understand the great reviews this place gets. read more
