I found myself in Carpinteria in late November and needed to bring a pie to someone's home for Thanksgiving in Los Angeles. Having grown up in Texas, I really wanted to bring a pecan pie that wasn't cloyingly sweet. This bakery did not disappoint. It was a fantastic pie I'll be it, $45 but totally worth it and I got great praise for bringing in a slice of pecan love to the party.! I will definitely return. read more

I don't want to let this out.. cause this place will get more busy.. but we have been going here for about a year. I'm talking about at least once a month, not once has the bakery items have been the same! I just had the chocolate pudding cupcake, no pictures cause i devoured it. I asked, who makes these incredible desserts. It's an employee that makes it there!!! What the hell??? I feel like a customer in the Seinfeld soup nazi episode getting incredibly great bakery items without the threat! They have pop tart of the day. I also just got an almond joy cupcake. This is chocolate crack! Every time we go there we spend more money on the bakery items on top of the food. Who ever is making these bakery items needs to be known, and appreciated! The creativity. During our one week stay, I ate here 4 times. I was obsessed with their quiche. The first one was DELICIOUS! The second one was drier Third & fourth was also a bit dry. I must have had the first one when it was right out of oven! It was so good! Ambiance is wonderful There is a bit of buzz on patio with locals and tourists and made for a beautiful energy. Coffee is good And their signature coffee/ espresso drinks are delicious Service was fabulous I'll keep trying to get that perfect quiche when I return for a visit, because it was that good! read more

Love this new Carp addition. The patio has some great seating for a perfect day in Carp. Pup friendly which is a plus. There's even a fire pit for those chilly mornings. This is such a cute little stop between Ventura and Santa Barbara. Parking was convenient, we were able to get in and out. The barista was so fast! I started with a "minted" cold brew which was phenomenal. After pleasant convo with the barista named Maddie she sold us on Cinnamon Horchata lattes which were on par with the great cold brew! read more

Oooooh this place is so wonderful. We came to Carp to go camping and walked into town for coffee and I fell in love. Beautiful beautiful seating area. The coffee was spot on - I went 2 days in a row and had a hot seasonal latte and an iced one the next and both were just divine. The food was so good - just get anything honestly, I tried 4 things and all were spot on. Everyone was friendly - just an all around wonderful start to my day honestly. I can't wait to come back here for a camping trip and visit again! People of Carp you are so lucky this is a local coffee shop! I'm so jealous! read more

Great new cafe created by the owners of Teddys by the Sea. It has ample parking with decent sized spaces and a large outdoor patio where we sat with our dog. Looked like some tables inside as well. It's self serve so you grab a table and go in to place your order. Pick up drinks inside and they bring your food to you. We had coffee, a latte and breakfast sandwiches. read more

We found the brass bird coffee shop through yelp when driving through Carpinteria on our way to Northern California. What a wonderful spot! We enjoyed a meal there along with great coffees. The brass bird is going to be a place where we stop on all our trips Along that route. The food is delicious. The ambience is very nice. They have great parking too. read more

I really like this place. The atmosphere is comfortable. Great outdoor seating with a private enclosed area for groups. Off street parking is available although a bit tight yet manageable. Great coffee, not watered down tasting. Great tasting quiches, croissants and pastries. Consistently their scones are desert dry crying out for moisture. (They need my homemade ones ) To help it along we dunked it in our coffee which wasn't a bad thing to do. The raspberry chocolate cake, with its whipped cream icing, was not created for cake lovers but for those who want the taste of cake but without tasting too much of the guilt. It's hard to find a cafe or bakery that sells freshly baked cake sold by the slice. So even though it wasn't my preference it was appreciated. This is my 3rd or 4th time at Brass Birds. It does have a Montecito cafe feel but in a small homey welcoming beach town of Carpinteria. As one of the locals I'm glad it's giving a bit of poshness to the town. read more

My only concern with Brass Bird is that they turn a blind eye to people who bring aggressive dogs to the restaurant. A lot of people bring their dogs here because of the beautiful outdoor seating. They already have a reputation in Carpinteria for dog fighting. Many dog owners I know have had their dog attacked or witnessed it happen to someone else's dog. When my dog was attacked here they did nothing about it. To this day, that same brown labrador that attacked my dog returns to Brass Bird. A few days ago, he was there and was barking and trying to get at my dog. By the time I got my coffee and came outside, they were gone. The owner of a Doberman Pincher walked all the way around the parking lot to bypass two dogs at two different tables near the entrance. Trying to stay positive, maybe she's just trying to protect her dog because of some bad experience she's had with another dog. NOPE. She sat in the middle of the outdoor area, giving her dog absolutely no slack on the leash. She had the dog pulled as close to her as possible. However, any dog that her Doberman Pincher saw he/she barked and pulled her in an effort to attack the other dog. Brass Bird management again did nothing about it. Beautiful outdoor seating area but for those two days a year it rains, there's not much seating inside. I think I counted 7 tables that seat two and one table that seats six. Two of those tables are poorly situated near the office door and where everyone picks up their drinks. They're usually empty. If the sun is out, you're sitting outside, but if it rains or if it's cold, you probably need to get your food and coffee to go. Which stinks because it's a nice place to hang out. The pastry chef is fantastic and there are many to choose from daily. I love the cruffins. The menu may be small, but there are many delicious options for you to enjoy. Avocado toast never gets old. The gruyere and ham croissant is also delicious. They are a very friendly staff from top to bottom. A couple of the cashiers seem like they may be a little shy and maybe working the register and taking orders isn't the best place for them. Absolutely nothing motivates me to post a review quicker than bad or rude service. Nothing. read more

My family and I were just in Carpinteria for several days on vacation. We loved Brass Bird so much that we went three times during our stay here. Everything we ate was wonderful (I wish we had time to try all the pastries), and coffee was delicious. Seating is ample, the atmosphere is very chill, and the space is lovely. Appreciated having a water station on the patio! The best thing about this spot is really how friendly everyone is. The staff was so terrific: warm, friendly, and helpful. We never felt like we were considered a handful for having a small kid with us (which can be the case at other coffee shops). My husband and I were also saying that there isn't a certain vibe you need to fit to be here--it's so welcoming. Absolutely refreshing after encountering a fair share of pretentious coffee shops in other places. Wish we lived closer so we could come here all the time. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews but this finally needed to be said. I visit Carpinteria regularly and Brass Bird is my preferred coffee shop in the area. I have made three purchases here in the last two days and the service was absolutely terrible, especially my recent visit. The cashiers are rude and look visibly annoyed when you ask questions. My transaction was at 9:54am on 7/11/24, whoever was working the register at this time needs some serious retraining. I ordered the seasonal oat milk latte and the cashier asked, "Is whole milk okay?" to which I said, "isn't it made with oat milk" and she responded with a rude tone and disgusted look, "yeah, of course it's made with oat milk" ...fine, clarified that one. Then my partner orders his drink and we pay, then the cashier rushes through our transaction so quickly that I couldn't even tip or input my phone number for my receipt. I was still planning to tip, but wasn't even given the chance? While waiting for our drinks, we notice the barista making one of them in the opposite temperature we ordered and confirmed at the register. I caught her before she started making the drink and nicely asked her to make sure it was iced. The barista said okay, rolled her eyes, and proceeded to make our drink correctly. In previous visits, the service here has always been fine and nothing to complain about. But my experience the last two days has been nothing but offputting. From one manager to another, please consider assessing your employees attitudes on the floor or you will lose regular customers. read more

Found this once I drove into Carpinteria. After a 2 hr drive from Orange County this hit the spot. I ordered the Horchata Cinnamon Latte and avocado toast. The latte was delicious and not overly sweet. The latte art was a nice touch. The avocado toast was delicious. It was flavorful while being a light late lunch. The ambiance is very similar to local coffee shops in LA and OC. I love it and highly recommend this place to anyone stopping by Carpinteria. read more

We like to stop here for breakfast on our way into Santa Barbara because the food and drinks are reliably good and the setting is relaxed. They have a large menu for breakfast and lunch, with weekend specials like lemon ricotta pancakes. They have a very large outdoor patio with one fire pit for a few tables to share the warmth, and dogs are allowed. The bathrooms are always clean and there is free parking wrapping around the building. We like to get their honey lavender latte, which is less sweet than other places we've had it but still has a floral sweetness that we enjoy! The breakfast burrito comes with a non-spicy green salsa and is lightly roasted on one side for a nice crunch, and the lemon ricotta pancakes come 4 to an order and are super fluffy and lightly sweet with lots of berries. There are always lots of fresh pastries, like croissants, sticky buns, muffins, bagels, and other grab options like overnight oats and salads. The staff are friendly, but do not bus tables so make sure to drop your plates and cups off in the bins before leaving! read more
