I simply wanted the chip of tooth removed as it was loose and made it difficult to chew. My intent was to schedule an appointment to have a crown seated at soon (but later) date. They took x-rays relating the tooth in question and two other teeth, both of which had had implants done years earlier. When Dr. Woyciehowsky came in, it was immediately apparent that he was in a hurry. There was the minimal of verbal pleasantries, then a glance at my tooth, and the news that the tooth had chipped and was still attached to gum tissue. He told me that I would need to make an appointment for next steps as it was late in the day. I kindly reminded him that I had a 45 minute appointment and he said "It's late in the day; I can't keep the staff here". I repeated that the only reason I had come in was to have that bone chip tended to. He begrudgingly said he would take care of it. He was so rushed that it was unnerving. He was speaking quickly and his tone and maner were flip and glib. With concern about his overall demeanor, I ask about being numbed; there was nothing gentle about his touch. He said there wasn't time, and that by the time the lidocaine was administered, he would've already been able to remove the tooth chip. I asked him if he wouldn't mind putting some numbing gel on my gums. He said that numbing gel wouldn't make a difference. I worked in oral surgery for three years. Numbing gel (aka: Lidocaine and prilocaine periodontal gel) deadens the nerve endings in your gums. It takes literally seconds to work and would have provided his new patient with comfort. He declined my request. Dr. Woyciehowsky told me I would only feel some thing similar to the pinch you feel when you receive an injection in your gums. It took him a few turns/tugs to get the tooth chip detached from my gums. It was not painful, but it was uncomfortable, and it was a bit scary as I wasn't sure exactly what to expect. No one offered anything for the bleeding; and when I asked, they gave me a Kleenex. I asked for gauze as it was bleeding, quite a bit. When I initially scheduled with his practice, I had explained that I was looking for a new long-term dentist and that I wanted someone who was kind and compassionate. Dr. Woyciehowsky demonstarted neither of those traits. The 15 minutes he gave of his time left me both disappointed and at ground zero with regard to now having to find a new dentist. I am a friendly, positive and happy person. I treat people with dignity and respect, always try my best to do the right thing, and have simple, basic expectations of others. I rarely let things bother me, but found myself getting home (a 2-minute drive) still surprised by the outcome of my visit to Camas Dentistry, and writing a negative review.

At no point prior to or during the consultation was he informed that they were out of network with Delta Dental, one of the largest dental insurance providers. It wasn't until the end of the appointment that he was presented with a $600 bill for the consultation and informed that the procedure would require over $2,600 out of pocket. Having worked in the dental field for over 10 years, I was very surprised and disappointed that the out-of-network status and expected out-of-pocket costs were not clearly explained in advance. Financial transparency is extremely important, especially for a college student working part-time and paying for his own care. Patients should be given the opportunity to fully understand their insurance coverage and financial responsibility before services are rendered. I contacted the office and requested a call back from the doctor/owner to discuss whether this may be a training or communication issue that could be improved to prevent similar situations for other patients. Unfortunately, it has now been two weeks, and I am still waiting for that call. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously and improves its communication and billing transparency for future patients.

At that time, I was out of town. My 18-year-old and 16-year-old went in for teeth cleanings. They never called my husband or me to let us know that our insurance was outside of their network. They were supposed to call us and discuss everything before proceeding with the procedure. They told my 18-year-old that they had informed us about all procedures and payment options, but they never called us. Now, the front desk is telling me that my daughter is 18 years old and can sign any papers, even though they misled her by not informing us and having her sign the papers. My husband was out of work for nine months, and we were on Molina insurance. We had just set up our insurance and received calls to make appointments. For my dental treatment, they called me three times to schedule appointments. When I returned to the country and called to confirm, they told me we weren't covered with them, and I could not be seen. They could have done the same for my daughters. It was only a three-week difference between my girls' appointments and mine. How is it that they could see my daughters, but I couldn't be treated? They made a mistake. They didn't inform us that our insurance was out of network for Dental Designs. Now they want to send the bill to collections, even though we are not at fault. The front desk failed to make everything clear. PLEASE BEWARE OF THE SCAM DENTAL DESIGN IS PULLING. There must be many older people who don't even know they are being wrongly charged or given incorrect information. Having a 16-year-old sign payment papers is wrong. Telling false information to a 16- and 18-year-old is wrong.

I do not--and I mean DO NOT--like going to the dentist. In fact, I have such a fear of dental work…read morethat when I was told years ago that I needed all of my teeth removed, I avoided it and instead had teeth pulled one at a time whenever the pain became unbearable. So when I walked into this appointment knowing I would likely need full-mouth extractions, I was terrified. From the moment I sat down, I knew this office was different from any dental office I had ever visited. The staff's kindness and compassion immediately stood out. Patrick, the dental assistant helping with my care, was an absolute ray of sunshine. He treated me like we had been friends for years. I hadn't eaten that morning, and my blood pressure was a little concerning. Without hesitation, Patrick offered me part of his own lunch to help. Beyond that, he was one of the funniest and most genuine people I have ever met. When you're as fearful as I am, having someone who can make you laugh and feel comfortable makes all the difference. My 7-year-old daughter was with my wife and me during the visit. When she heard I was going to have surgery to remove all of my teeth, she became upset and started crying. Patrick immediately comforted her with a hug and helped calm her fears. The rest of the staff went above and beyond as well, taking her to the front desk, letting her pick out a toy, and keeping her company while I underwent my procedure. Dr. Nguyen was equally amazing. Throughout the entire procedure, she continually checked on me to make sure I was comfortable and not in pain. The team even covered me with a weighted blanket to help me feel more secure and relaxed. Every step of the way, Dr. Nguyen and her staff did everything possible to make sure I was comfortable, cared for, and supported. For someone with severe dental anxiety, this experience could not have been more positive. The compassion, professionalism, and genuine kindness shown by everyone in this office were unlike anything I have ever experienced in a dental setting. If you're nervous about going to the dentist, this is the place to go. They don't just care for your teeth--they care for you as a person.

The overall nuance of the place reminded me of my stay at the Howard-Johnson Hotel on the Disney strip in Anaheim, CA (it was a great experience). Since I was able to obtain my x-rays from the previous dental office, Oasis only required one more x-ray to get a different view of a bothersome tooth. It was a quick trip in & out, but I've never in my 40+ years of life been treated with such consideration in a dental office. I made the entire staff aware that I have anxiety, & they treated me with care w/o being patronizing. In my experience that's rare in most professional settings. I was referred to a specialist because of the extenuating circumstances, & Oasis isn't equipped for surgical procedures. When I had my tooth implant done 2 years ago, two assistants spent 45 minutes trying to put in some metal part right before the dentist installed the final implant. I finally had enough and requested that Dr. Owen do it because I almost swallowed the metal part if I didn't catch it. 2. After a year of pushing me to get a night guard so that my implant can last longer, according to Dr. Owen, I finally agreed to have it, which cost me $300 last November. I couldn't get used to it for a couple of months, and I set it aside. I spent $300 for it, and I can't just let it sit, so I finally forced myself to wear it nightly for one week in March this year, and I noticed that my gums were swollen and inflamed. So I went back to have Dr. Owen check, and I learned that the inflammation was caused by the ill-fitting of the nightguard that dug into my gums. However, I could feel a big gap after the adjustment; it doesn't fit like it should have been, but I didn't complain to them during my recent cleaning in May. I received a bill today stating that I needed to pay $54 out of the $108 billed to the insurance company as an "Evaluation " charge in March. I called and questioned "why I'm responsible for paying for the 'evaluation' that was made to adjust for the ill-fitting of the night guard. They said they had to charge for the evaluation first before they could adjust the night guard, which shocked me to hear that. If they had scanned the mold correctly to begin with, I wouldn't have had to go through the pain in my gums and return for such adjustment on the nightguard, would I? What's the cause and the effect of this visit ? Was it me who caused the swollen/ inflamed gums or was the effect of ill-fitting nightguad I ordered from them ? I always pay my bills but I can't pay for something that's not caused by me. During my recent visit I expressed my concerns of the quality of their stuff under previous owner, and I was going to give them a chance to stay with them for the new ownership uder Dr. Owen. Now I will definitely go somewhere because of their unfair billing practices.
