Great experience here - I happened to be in town visiting and this was across the street from my hotel - from the time I walked in I felt very welcomed - I was handed a menu and given the low down on how the tastings work - I decided to go with a glass of wine - I ended up meeting some folks and the bar and just hung out - it's really a cute set up - huge bar - plenty of tables a sitting area with couches - it's also really clean - they also offer a small food menu but I didn't eat anything this visit

This is a hidden gem! What a beautiful quaint and stylish establishment. Upon entry the branches theme is beautifully highlighted and their tasty wines are on display for sale. Alicia was an absolute charm to work with. Her wine suggestions were always delicious and the food was AMAZING! I will be back! Oh and not only do they have wine they also serve bourbon!

I love Branches! I've been a couple times now, and the environment is so great. The staff is so friendly, and it feels like being in a friend's home when you're there. They have seating options for alarge group or an intimate date night. The variety of wine options are great, and you can build your own flight to try several. I can't recommend ordering food enough. Their charcuterie is beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Their seasonal flatbreads and sandwiches are incredible too; you can't go wrong no matter what you order.

Great stop for a nice glass of wine and charcuterie board. I sat at the bar and read my book. It was very nice.

The ambiance is amazing. They have several high top tables. They have great service, great food, and excellent tasting wine - a triple win!! I had a Happy harvest flatbread and it was delicious. It has arugula, bacon, apples, caramelized onions, brie, and glazed pecans. I strongly suggest a wine flight - it allows you to try and figure it what you like. The Almond wine was amazing! The Malbec and Pinot noir were great too. They even have events - can't wait to visit again!!

We had a great time visiting this Gem in Chesapeake Marty and Andrew were very sociable and they introduced themselves warmly when we first arrived. We will definitely be coming back!

OMG this place is amazing! This is a small spot in Chesapeake that you must try. It's modern and clean and the people are SO personable. I've been twice...once for a wine pairing event and the second time for lunch. Both times have been wonderful. I will definitely be attending another event. Went back with my husband for lunch. He had some bourbon beverages and I had a wine flight. The pours were plentiful, where I had to leave my car and come back . The food was also delicious. My husband had a specialty sandwich with pears and I wanted to take it from him. They are in a shopping center so parking is plentiful. Definitely going back!

It was such a delight trying Branches Tasting Room. What appears to be a wine shop turned out to be a neighborhood meet up that welcomed visitors. Julie the owner and her employees were personable knowledgeable and enjoyable! This was the first time In Hampton Roads I felt at home. The wine and bourbon flights were superb and the charcuterie and cheese board was delicious! This is an experience I want to keep to myself but everyone has to witness the greatness!

They have bourbon too! Okay- that made me excited, and I didn't see anyone else mention that tidbit, so I figured I'd lead with that. I visited Branches to have a long, drawn-out visit with a friend last night before she moves away from Coastal Virginia. Branches was the perfect spot to sit and catch up. We kept the wine flowing and ordered an assortment of apps throughout the evening as well. It wasn't crowded, so we didn't feel rushed or rude for taking our time. The service was personable and friendly. I was impressed with every bit of our experience here! The happy hour special is $5 off bottles, and I think $2 off glasses of wine. It was easiest to just split a bottle and cheeseboard to start. We enjoyed everything on the cheeseboard. I always love when honey is added. There was a delightful combination of sweet, savory, salty, and some spice. Then we shared the meatballs after basically lusting over someone's meatball sub (on pretzel bread) when it came out of the kitchen. Finally, we finished with their dessert of the day, which was a chocolate temptation cake. Omg. It melted in our mouths, and I'll be craving another piece for a long time. Heavenly!! There was an assortment of couples, friends, and solo visitors throughout the evening. Only one person working for both the kitchen and I think back of the house too, but she had an excellent flow down, and we never felt ignored or forgotten. Highly impressed with Branches and won't hesitate to come back!

A friend and I checked this place out for a wine date and I'm so glad I did! We both ordered our own flights and the woman that helped us noted what we each preferred in wine and customized our flights. We were both very happy with our flights and I found some standouts in my flight. We shared a charcuterie board which came with three meat options and three cheese options. It was perfect for grazing but also turned about to be a lot of food for 2 people. I ended up taking the leftovers home with me. I found everything I tried went well with my glasses of wine. The atmosphere inside is really chill and comfortable. The only thing that I would note is that it took some time to get our initial order in and a couple reminders for glasses of water. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd love to return when there's live music and to try out some of the dessert options.

Cute little wine bar with a great selection of beer, cider, and wine. They have a great menu of small bites as well - flatbreads, sandwiches, dips, cheese & meat charcuterie. Came in to get some work done and enjoy a glass of wine while I waited for my daughter's 2 hour dance class to finish. Ended up getting a fig & pig flatbread and a bottle of red-there was too great of a special to only get one glass. I was able to bag up the rest of the wine bottle and bring it home. The flatbread was AMAZING! Had the right balance of fig balsamic to prosciutto. The arugula gave it a great peppery finish. There was only one person running the shop and she handled the 7 tables that came through flawlessly. It was good that it was staggered enough for her to assist. Great little happy hour spot definitely will return with some friends - but going solo works too!

Great for Wine, Not for Dinner (Unfortunately) I don't know…read morewhy my Bestie and I keep doing this to ourselves -- we love Cooper's Hawk for the wine tastings, but every time we try to give dinner another chance... it ends the same way. After our tasting, we decided to sit down and order one of our longtime favorites: the short rib with mashed potatoes and vegetables. We hadn't had it in a few months because the last time was an epic fail, but we figured we'd give it another shot. As always, the pretzel bread and butter were a highlight -- that part never misses. The entrée, however, was another disappointment. The vegetables were noticeably undercooked -- still hard and crunchy -- and the dish came out with barely any sauce, even though I specifically asked for extra. For a short rib dish, you expect that rich, flavorful gravy to tie everything together... and it just wasn't there. A manager did come over after I pointed it out, and she genuinely tried to make it right, which I appreciated. We were offered another meal to take home, but at that point we were honestly just over it. To end on a positive note, I tried the Banoffee Pie for the first time (recommended by the manager), and it was actually really good -- rich, sweet, and worth trying. I also ordered their chocolate cake to go (which I usually love), but when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I had to call for a refund, which they did handle -- but it just added to the overall frustration. At this point, it's become a pattern. When I first started coming here over a year ago, everything was consistently great. Lately, though, the dinner experience has been more miss than hit. We'll absolutely continue coming back for the wine tastings -- those are still top-tier. But for dinner? We're done trying.

In the summer I tend to gravitate toward lighter, sweeter wines, so the flight felt like the perfect choice for the day. Not surprisingly, my taste buds traveled straight to Italy. The Italian wines on the flight ended up being my favorites, with the standout being La Doria Moscato D'Asti. It was light, slightly bubbly, and perfectly balanced -- sweet but still refreshing. If you enjoy Moscato-style wines, this one was definitely the highlight of the tasting for me. The winery itself has a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy a glass (or a flight). They also offer a selection of light bites if you want something to snack on while you're tasting. I ordered the house biscuits with jam and butter, which are made in-house, along with an order of fries. Both worked well as simple bites alongside the wine. If I had been with a group, I probably would have ordered the charcuterie board -- the one at the table next to me looked very generous and easily shareable. Service was friendly and welcoming, and since it wasn't overly crowded when I visited, it made for a relaxed afternoon tasting experience. We were offered a sample of the Sage Derby Cheese and it was so good, I bought two lol. Once everyone arrived, we went into the Wine Tasting Room to learn about the wines of the Pacific Northwest and to sample wines from that region. The class was very educational and I learned quite a few things. For example, Cabernet Franc is the parent of Cabernet Sauvignon, which is my favorite wine. Each week they feature a different region and really take you on a full deep dive -- this week was the Pacific Northwest, and between the four wine samples and the education behind each one, I left feeling like I actually learned something (while still having a great time, of course). I brought a friend with me this time -- the same one who originally introduced me to Cooper's Hawk -- so it felt a little full circle being able to put her onto a place for once. And let me just say... she was impressed. Like, immediately texting people about it impressed. Now let's talk about that in-house herb cheddar. I don't even remember exactly what herbs were in it, but I DO know it was so good I had to buy some to take home... and my friend liked it so much she bought two. That should tell you everything you need to know. What really sets Crystal Palate apart though is that it's not just a tasting -- it's an experience. They offer classes, events, and even certification programs if you want to really get into wine and learn how to educate others. You can tell they genuinely love what they do, and it shows in every part of the experience. Honestly, I loved it so much I even asked if they were hiring -- that's how you know it's real. Great wine, great atmosphere, great energy... this place is a whole vibe. So if you're wondering where I'll be on Wednesday nights... you can find me and Lexi right here at Crystal Palate
