Little background, I have wrenched on rally cars on a pit team since a young age. 2 weeks ago I had bought a 30 year old low mileage Volvo, I replaced bushings, steering rack and steamed the gas tank got it running and wanted to drive it to flagstaff that day. I called around and found a place that was on my way out of town and had open availability. In the lobby I told them exactly what was wrong and they tried to blow some steam up my ass. I had mentioned that I have done alignments before using string and a bubble level, the one technician's mind was blown! So I explained to him how that works and believe it or not they have aligned wheels since before computers and laser alignment machines. I wait... Took them an hour to test drive it and get it on a lift. So when I saw it on the lift I asked if I could see underneath just so I could take some notes on what had to be replaced and the condition on the rust on this Hawaiian barn find. Wasn't being overbearing just wanted to look for my own information collection. So they got the shop manager and before I could look at the tailpipe they start feeding me some bullshit right off the bad. Telling me the struts are bent and needs a full front end rebuild. I take a measurement tool from my bag to see the bends. Actually perfectly straight. After that they proceed to tell me they can't align it for this reason or that reason; each more outlandish then the last. At that point I asked them to lower my car and let me out and proceeded to give them some advice on how to treat paying customers. I went home and got in my truck To go up to Flagg had a great weekend despite brakes plus. After work on Monday I aligned the wheels myself using 4 jack stands a string and a bubble level 13mm 21mm wrench and measuring tape. All the info to do it yourself can be found online. Anyways, horrible shop, young and uneducated staff trained to be lying money hungry con artists. read more

I called three places that were 'brake specialists' as I wanted to ensure I got the best price as well as quality of work. After all, my daughter and grand-daughter will be relying on those parts. Knowing Phoenix drivers she will probably be using them quite often.. Brakes Plus gave me the best price and James was by far the most polite and helpful of all the people I spoke to. The check of what was needed was free, can't beat that. They were thorough in their explanation of what was needed and why. If you even consider using this place make sure you get a full written price on the parts beforehand. They tried to charge me a 300% mark-up on a part and act like they doing you some great favor. Shop around people and take there "quotes" to other shops or better yet ask for the exact parts they need to use on your car and do a simple google search. Wonderful experience! I had taken my car elsewhere because my brakes were squeaking like crazy and they told me that my brakes were FINE. A week later, my brakes started 'moaning' - I took it to Brakes Plus PV and they advised me my rear brakes were almost metal to metal! They gave me an excellent deal and the service was TOP NOTCH! Sad to say this is my second terrible experience with this Brakes Plus location. I went in for a simple battery change in November, and being a young woman, they must have seen a money sign stamped on my forehead, so they installed the wrong battery thinking I wouldn't notice. Unfortunately for them, my dads a mechanic and I know how to identify when something doesn't fit, especially something as obvious as a battery! Took it back to get it changed again and thought that would be the end of it. It's now February, barely three months later and the battery died. Triple A took a look at it and said it read like a three year old battery and had a dead cell...are you kidding me breaks plus? Taking advantage of young women, not cool! read more

Went in for summer service, radiator, transmission and AC. They worked on the AC system and failed to notice the low pressure valve connection was loose. After replacing the valve and the Air Compressor that was covered by O'Reilly Auto Parts, I lost all cooling in the system. Because it was my part-The Customer) there was no recourse or warranty. I found out the failure was due to too much oil in the compressor. Bottom line, stay away unless you need something simple done. New Management from Colorado now in charge. They cannot be trusted to work on anything complex. Expect to spend $100's replacing unneeded parts improving their bottom line. Pretty disappointed as I felt I found a place I could trust. I drive a 2009 Smart Passion Coupe, and needed new brakes. The Mercedes dealership quoted me $500+ for the pads and rotors. I called several places and got anything from $400 to $250. Then I called Brakes Plus and they quoted me $230. I spoke with Allan and he was unbelievably nice. I went in and asked for him. I was simply blown away with his attitude, his customer service and their price. I mean... $500 compared to $230. Go figure! It is on my way home, too. Just an overall great experience, and Allan... Don't get scammed! Went in with my vehicle and asked what the noise from the tire was. They told me it would be $60.00 to "inspect" it. I let them an hr later they gave me a bill for around $1400 saying I needed struts and few different things. I went to another mechanic who looked at it for free! Said struts were fine and that the piece i needed was a loose shim for the brake caliper that was $20!!!!!!!!! Wow. They are vultures! Not only that I called another brakes plus in Glendale a couple weeks later to have them do brakes on my other vehicle and they DID NOT charge me for an inspection! This is by far the worst brakes plus shop in town. They will scam you. I have 3 vehicles that constantly need repairs and now because of your dishonesty, I will never be back. I brought my car here after my check engine light went on. They were professional, speedy and informative. They called me to let me know that it was just a gas cap crack that was causing the issue and that they would take care if it for me. They also wanted me to know that the previous place that I had my oil changed at had forgotten to connect a hose by the air filter. Also my tire only had 2 of 5 bolts in it and they believed that the previous place did not screw them in all properly and I am lucky that my tire did not fall off. The manager was so nice and explained everything to me. This is great place to bring your car to! They even called the next day to check and make sure everything was working ok. read more

It's sucks to get ripped off (Russ Stanfield was the general manager) My vehicle is a 2012 Mazda 3 s Grand Touring Sedan 2.5L with 78,000 miles. I was charged $1178 for replacing 4 brake rotors , 4 brake pads , and a supposedly brake flush , they charged me $453.96 for "replacing" + labor the rear left and right calipers , I checked and it was never replaced , I doubt they even "serviced" the rear left and right calipers, I don't even know if there was anything wrong with the calipers since they never replaced them. I also think they pumped the price even without the calipers , I should have gotten the hint when I asked to collect the old hardware that they removed from my vehicle(old rotors , pads calipers etc) Russ Stanfield said that they can give me everything but the calipers , he told me that collecting my old calipers involved with a fee (core fee) , they never respected my request to receive the old parts that was removed from my vehicle, It's really sucks to be taken advantage like that. I will never use their services again and hopefully this review will warn others. I chose this business because of the good ratings/reviews but it's really easy to fake reviews , all it takes it to open bogus gmail account and to give 5 stars reviews to their own business , there is no control over that. I complained to the BBB, hopefully they will investigate. This is fraud\theft I am really upset !!!!! UPDATE I just realized that my hand brake is not working anymore , it was working before *Brakes Plus* serviced my vehicle ! Now I have to spend more money fixing it read more
