Terrible outcome. Supposedly brake specialists Full brake job on my truck $1800 Wasn't right. Took it back 3 times. Tried to blame it on other things. I told them the new rotors must be bad. Wouldn't look at them so finally took it to ford dealer. Right away said your rotors are warped. Wouldn't reimburse me or stand behind there work. Horrible place. read more

Writing this review to warn everyone. i wrote a review about 6 months ago regarding my car coming in for an oil change. i was displeased with the upcharging and they did not honor the pricing we agreed on when I walked in. But that is not the issue I'm writing about today. Aside from the scammy pricing and 2 lost valve stem caps, I went to get an oil change today from a much better place. Come to find out, Brakes Plus FORGOT TO PUT MY OIL CAP ON. so I have been driving this entire time without a cap on top of the issues I had previously. seriously consider taking your vehicle elsewhere, as they are not trustworthy and obviously aren't very competent for something as simple a an oil change. read more

Really bad outcome here. Simple oil change that brought on a very bad leak. On our third return they claimed the car oil pan had been leaking and other seals on the power steering were bad. The coincidence is not believable by us or the other mechanics who have now looked. This car is garaged on a white epoxy floor. Never a drop in 14 years until they changed the oil. No evidence of any power steering fluid on the floor either. The manager then told my wife I was rude to him on the phone after he changed his story regarding why the oil pan seal went bad "naturally" right after the oil change. BTW: They auto generate replies with dead contact information. You might want stay away from this firm. read more

I took my vehicle in for oil change and was told my ball joints in front needed to be replaced. I chose not to repair since I am new to the area and was not certain of Brakes Plus. I took vehicle to another repair shop and they said ball joints were good. Sorry, hard to believe two professional mechanics could disagree on ball joints. First and last time I will do business here. Went to get my VW Passat an oil change, "Walmart could not do it" staff was friendly to start. Nothing was said other than I need the full synthetic oil change which I already knew. I have no problem spending money on services. The problem I have is the fact that after my oil change was done, I was then told about my cars filter not being stocked normally, which was still in there shop. Now it is an extra $27.99 for the filter that they already put in and did not tell me they would charge me for. Dishonest employees, which then reflect the business, adding charges that are never mentioned really grinds my gears. Meanwhile, there was a lady being treated 1000% better because the employee would say something is wrong and she said, "Go ahead and fix that too!" I am sure she racked up a 1K bill. Each time, they have been very professional, kind, and always ended each transaction with a firm handshake - something that is desperately missing in our world. Building trust with a mechanic is not easy, but I can say that I am certainly doing that with the crew at this location. They never talk down to me and always make suggestions of services that might be in my best interest to have looked at, while at the same time not trying to force me to pay for something I'm not ready to pay for. My most recent visit was to redeem a Holiday Coupon they offered - which true to its advertising - gave me an absolutely free oil change - something I certainly appreciated. Because of my desperate situation of not having a workable vehicle, I was taken advantage of and price-gouged for the installation of an alternator at the Brakes Plus located at 3837 N 168th Street in Omaha, NE. I was told by the sales agent, Brian,, that I needed to come in for a quote. My car was running on less than 30% battery power. I knew I could make it to the shop, but not make it back home without a new alternator installed. I was charged $699.99 for an alternator that is priced at $282 or less at multiple nearby parts stores. I was told the high price was due to the fact that only one part was available in town. That was not true, as I found the same exact part, Duralast remanufactured alternator- part #10135, available for pick-up at Autozone at 18510 Wright Street on Omaha that very same day. I generally find a mark-up on parts to be %25 to 50% as reasonable. I believe the approximate 250% markup to have been highly unreasonable. The store manager, Dean Bickle, has refused to do anything. While waiting forever, I had over-the-phone estimates and online estimates for installation of the same part on that same day anywhere between $400 and $500 from independent shops similar to Brakes Plus. I would have expected the price to be comparable to this price range. I am extremely disappointed in this business practice. Stay away from "Ripoff Plus". They surely know the art of taking advantage of desperate individuals and will not think twice about price gouging. read more

Took my Chevy Equinox in for an oil change and to have my check engine light looked at. Dylan had my car for a few minutes before calling me back explaining to me that my piston rings were wearing down and i was burning oil at a fast rate. He explained to me very clearly that this is a problem most Equinoxes have, told me to take it to the dealer and i'll get it taken care of under warranty. He wrote me a note to bring to the dealership explaining what he told me. He said he'd love to rebuild my engine but it's not right because i can get it taken care of for free. They are always able to fit me into their schedule and the repairs are done quickly. They have never pushed unnecessary fixes onto me and are upfront about how serious (or non-serious) a lot of repairs need to be. Great service! Some quick lube place apparently put the wrong fluid in my brake fluid reservoir. I noticed my brake pedal feeling soft and had way too much pedal travel. Tool it here and they looked it over, found the problem and fixed it quickly. They called me and explained everything, even showed me pictures when I picked up my truck. Great customer service and reasonable prices. I'm not going to take any more cars to any of the quick lube places in Omaha ever again, saving a few bucks and some time cost me a new master cylinder! read more
