Brakes Plus charged me $925 just for a radiator fan part that costs $250-$450 anywhere else. With labor, they quoted over $1,200 for a repair that other shops would have done for under $900. This kind of price gouging is unacceptable. Be careful - always get a second opinion before letting them do any big repairs. So, I went in for an oil change appt and they'd let me know that I needed a new belt (mine was fraying). Not a problem, and I told them to make it happen. What I didn't know is that they had to order the part locally and that it would take a while to install and stretch. After about 90 min, I'd let a gentleman know that I had another appt in an hour that I couldn't miss and he said he'd let the mechanics know. Well, needless to say I ended up missing my next scheduled appt. They do the work I pay them for, don't get me wrong. This time around, however, all they had to do was let me know that the part had to be ordered and it'll take X-amount of time to install so I could've moved my appt to later or another day. Or better yet, a simple "hey, we're sorry this took so long" when I'm paying for the job would've kept me off Yelp. I stopped in one day since the place where I normally get inspections did not have anyone available and they took care of the car in no time. They once told me my battery was weak and would need replacing, but I procrastinated and in two weeks my battery was completely dead from now on when you tell me I need something. I have reached out several times and keep getting time frames to get my car back and then no car. Not once have they offered a discount, refund, or a rental car while my car is getting repaired. When I inquired about a rental, I was told it would be ready this week 11/13/23. Well, here it is 11/18/23 the end of the week and no car. You deserve 0 Stars!! My brake light switch went out on my car. I took it in to be repaired and was first quoted a bill of $1750. They wanted to repair the switch, brake pads, calibers, rotors, hoses, and do a brake flush. After talking with them, the price then went to $1465, the. $1010, the eventually down to $784.56. Out of everything they done, they were still unable to fix my car because they claim the brake switch was a recall part that would have to be taken care of at the dealership. So as I drive off the parking lot, the car is driving worse off from when I drove it in. The technician basically said it would all be fixed once the brake switch was repaired. So they basically repaired parts on my car that probably weren't even broken. I feel 1000% screwed over. Fast forward - I was barely able to drive my car 3 miles from Brakes Plus to the dealership to get the brake light switch. They clearly knew the car was NOT in a good drivable condition, yet they sent me, a woman who trusted them to do the right thing, on my way. The technician could not have been truthful when he said the car was drivable. When I got to the dealership I was told that there was NO recall on my car for the brake light switch. I was able to purchase the part to fix the brake light switch for $1.71 and my husband was able to put it on. Pissed off is an understatement and this is unethical. I did reach out to the management at Brakes Plus and told them that I felt they took advantage of me and screwed me over. The person I spoke to (Jason I think) said they would be willing to look at the car again and put the $1.71 part on if my husband needed help. The audacity, right! I also told them that there was no recall on my brake switch. His response blew my mind. He said, well some of the brake switches have been recalled. Did you not have enough professionalism to use my car model and VIN # to verify if there was a recall. I hope that $784.56 blesses them because they were unethical and give small repair shops a bad name. I'll be reaching out to Brakes Plus' corporate office. Heed my warning and don't go to them. It's awful. It made no sense for me to be quoted a repair price of $1750.00, then $1464.00, then $1010.00, then $838.00, and ended at $784.56 -- only for my car to NOT BE FIXED!! I went in for a brake change service and the price was not worth what I got. I had paid for new brake pads all around and to have my brakes bled and get new fluid in. Come to find out not even 3 days later I'm getting error codes on my truck for brake malfunctions and other codes relating to my brakes. They acted both extremely squishy compared to normal and then they started to apply more pressure than what I was trying to almost locking up randomly. I check my brakes and calipers to see no indication that my brakes were bled and I check my brake fluid reservoir to see that the old darkened fluid that's been in my truck since ownership is still there. So I paid for a service that was never provided and got very poor service on my truck for an extremely high price Edit: I brought my truck back in and the customer service alone exceeded my expectations. They offered to fix the issue that was caused due to the poor service after recognizing the mistake that was made. This was a terrible experience on each occasion. I took my car in to get an oil change, a front head light bike replaced and an inspection. I was quoted around 180.00 and about a hour to a hour and a half. I dropped my car to get the service done and they said they were waiting on certification on state inspection and they would not be able to do it after 3pm. I dropped my car off around 1pm. They called around 230 pm and said they miss quoted and price and labor. They it was going to be more because the bulb was different and install was going to be longer. I understand things can be different then what you see on a screen, but you need to give a more diverse price range if there could be a change in price. Luckily they helped out with a discount taking off 80 dollars. Plus they weren't able to do the inspection even though they had my car till after 3pm. Ok that's fine I guess. Things can happen. Then the next day on my way home my can started to slightly sputter on my my home. I didn't think much of it at first till the next morning on the way to work. I was driving and every time I accelerated my car sputtered harder and my check engine light would flash. Luckily the shop was on my way to work so I was able to get it there before anything bad could happen. They recognized be when I walked in the store. Told them want was happening and said they would look into the problem. Come to find out a had a spark plug and coil out. Weird that there was never that problem, but coincidences can happen. So they did the work quoting around 450 for the work. Here is the good part!! They broke my car. After the work my car would not start. I have never had any issues starting my car. They said they needed the key fob in order to fix the issue. I have been using a key for about a year to start my car. Had to call my wife with our toddler to take them the fob and still nothing changed. It gets better!!! While doing the work they damaged a wire that starts my car. They made it sound like that there was nothing they could do, but I told them the car was fine till they started working on the car. After another hour they said that when changing the spark plugs a wire was damaged. Best part is that they never apologized for what happened and acted like it was a favor that they would fix it for free. THEY BROKE IT IN THE FIRST PLACE!!!!! But wait there's more. They said the part would be there same day and I would have the car back. Well guess what, part would not be there till Monday. So I had to find transportation to work on Monday. Oh yeah they said for the inconvenience they would get me my car whatever they needed to do. THIS IS THE BEST PART!!!! Know my battery is dead. They said that a cell was dead and it needed to be replaced. I told them I got the battery from them and it should be under warranty. Evidently it was out of warranty, but they would pro rate it from 169 dollars to 100 dollars. Y'all had my car and there was nothing wrong with my battery. After I explained that they had my car and it was working fine, plus it was working fine till they damaged a wire he put me on hold to finely tell me they would take care of a new battery. Finally to wrap it up, my wife went to pick up my keys and it took about 30 minutes to get everything. Oh yeah, they told me they could not bring me the car because they did not have the people do what they said. Anyway, they gave her the key but no paperwork for the work. They didn't know were exactly they key fob was and had to find it. Her is the golden star, the paper work they gave shows no battery being replaced. So did I get a new battery? Or if something happens with the battery will it be under warranty??????? On top us all of this my boss paid the bill and it was over 50 dollars what they quoted me over the phone AGAIN!!!!!!! They also found and showed me a leaking oil pan gasket that I was not aware of and recommended I contact the dealership for a warranty repair.
