Went in had the oil changed. After job was done, service manager told me oil drain plug broke when they were changing the oil. Took the car to my mechanic and was told this was not the case. Great service for many years on our cars, but always at an additional price. When told I didn't want the extras, they stuck with my original request. Recent coolant leak prompted service and shop forgot to replace coolant in radiator or not properly replacing the radiator cap causing a severe overheating situation. I was told they tested it in the shop for 45 minutes prior to me picking it up. NOT. I was there and less than 20 minutes from "just got to add fluid and you're ready." They tried to sell me services that were performed just a few months prior but backed down when they knew what I was talking about. Profanity in normal conversation by service manager was not welcomed either. read more

They inspected a car I was looking to buy, and brought me out to show me all the problems with it, which amounted to thousands of dollars in repairs needed. I declined on buying the car after that. Jessica helped me out this second time to begin with and she was very knowledgeable and knew EXACTLY what I was speaking off and complaining of. If only there was a NO STAR OPTION!Unfortunately I have been having problems since I had work done November '15. and paid over $1,200 for new brakes, rotors, front end alignment, etc. Fast forward-I have gone through 2 sets of front tires due to such bad alignment/wear on the inside of tire ($700 total) & jerky/pulsating brakes. Now, I have just been told by my mechanic (who I didn't know at the time I took my car to brakes plus) that when I had all of this work done, they never put my tire sensors back on! I have taken my car in to check tire pressure over and over and over only to be told the pressure is fine and sensors are most likely just not working since my car is a 2005. I've been quoted $300-$400 to replace them, which I cannot afford and shouldn't have to pay for! I never had ANY PROBLEMS before taking my car to Brakes Plus, for something as simple as new brakes and an alignment which is what they 'specialize' in! Unfortunately for me, I should have gone back to them as soon as I knew something wasn't right....even though I talked to someone on the phone a couple of times when my sensor light wouldn't turn off, I summed it up as an older car and things like this are bound to happen. So upsetting! For over 2 years, I've been paying for my bad decision to take my car here! I will make sure everyone I know, knows what a bad job and how pricey $1,200 actually was for me. read more

10/10 Would NOT recommend. Poor service, wouldn't waste your time. Took my truck in for an alignment, got it back with my steering wheel crooked and truck pulled to the right. Took it back and they argued that it wasn't crooked and did not pull then suggested it was my tire pressure or my tie rods. They didn't know that I had just left Discount Tire where they rotated and balanced all four wheels just prior to arriving back at their store. They insisted that I was wrong but tried to correct the steering wheel and returned in worse shape than before and in the opposite direction. Ended up taking it to Big O on Peoria and 51st to check it. They fixed the steering and alignment, tie rods were fine and drives perfectly straight and alignment is dead on. read more

I have used this place for a number of years. They are very friendly and customer orientated. What is best tho is they are honest...a trait that is not always found in an auto shop. This is most important to me because I am a widow and I can tell you first hand that can be a red lite for many places to stick it to the customer. Not so with these guys. They have never tried to upsell me and they have even offered coupons to help reduce the cost of what I was having done. Their prices are very reasonable and their warranties surpass any place I have ever been. They explain things in layman's terms so I can understand what may be needed, what I need to watch for in the future, or what I need to get done right away. *** You want to read this one ... *** On Saturday April 21th , 2012 I called Brakes Plus and made an Oil Change appointment to honor a $15.95 coupon I received in the mail. I spoke with Brett who quoted me a 30-45 mins wait. After I checked in, I went to Starbucks to make some phone calls and kill sometime. Upon my return, 40 mins later, I was told that they had some bad news for me: The oil drain plug was stripped and they could not proceed with the service. I was told this was caused by the party that performed the service prior to coming to them. They had tightened the plug using extreme force. Brett recommended I replace the Oil Pan for a new one to prevent future leaks and indicated that could not proceed with the service as is. I asked him to type up a work order with his observation and professional recommendation. He hesitated to do so and said he needed to consult with somebody else, went to the back room and after a few minutes, he and his manager came back out and confirm the diagnose, but proposed a new alternative route: Re stripping the Oil Pan. I requested a written estimate of the cost of both procedures, but I was only provided with the total cost of replacing the entire part (oil pan): Labor $187.50+Original Oil Pan $449.37, Total $636.87. After I left the shop I called my mechanic for advised, he recommended going somewhere else to complete the work and I should let him know of any anomalies. The Oil change was successfully done by Super Star CarWash in Peoria for $29 with a complementary car wash. Today is Wed April 25, 2012 and I have not yet seen one drop of oil on my driveway. ... I had a blow out driving from San Francisco to Phoenix, bought new tires, and then took my car in for an alignment at Brakes Plus. I already knew there was other work that I've postponed for quite some time. Steve, the service manager, hooked me up. He gave me a very detailed look at the underneath of my car, exact work needed (which matched what I already knew), and then did all the work that day. I get all my stuff done at Brakes Plus and will continue to do so. I even asked for a hefty discount and he delivered! I also had some AC issues that were of were not possibly related to the work done. I took my car in again the next day and Brakes Plus took care of the AC issue...for free!!! Thx again Steve. I went in to just get a quote and they showed me how bad my brakes really were and suggest I get them done today. They gave me a ride home, I forgot to grab my house key off of my car keychain, so he drove all the way back to get it and all the way back to me. He also helped me load my baby in and out of the car with her car seat and stroller. They called me about an hour and a half later with my car completely finished and offered me a ride back to the shop. Everyone there was so sincere and helped me get the best price. read more

Would not recommend. Visited site with A/C problems. They provided an estimate to replace several pieces of my cars A/C system with a price over $1600. When I asked them if there was an alternative, they said no. To fix problem, I need to spend the money. I took car to another provider, and problem was fixed for $145. read more

I had brakes fail and decided that I needed to get in close to home. I called and was able to go right over. They listened to me as I described the symptoms and even were polite when I thought I had already "internet diagnosed" it as a master cylinder failure. Well, I am glad they didn't take advantage of me and they recommended bleeding the brakes. It turned out not to be the master cylinder, or air in lines, it was the booster which is under dealer warranty. I am grateful for the honesty and patience they showed to me. I always go here to get my oil changes because they're a lot cheaper than everywhere else . They only charge $80 for my bmw and everywhere else rips me off charging $110 . I've been going here for about 2 years. They are always nice. I haven't had any of them try to pull one over on me. They don't try to constantly up sell. One time I came in to get my AC fixed. I got a quote from another place before going and they quoted $1000. I didn't have that kind of money, so I took it to this Brakes Plus for another quote. They quoted me $400 for the AC. I ended up paying $550 that day, because I got a few other things done. I try to do a lot of my own work on my car if it is a simple task. Especially since I know that mechanics try to pull one over on customers. I have yet to have a problem at this Brakes Plus. I even take my car here to fix things I know I could do myself, because I know they won't charge me an arm and a leg. read more

I went in for brakes and came out with $1200+ in work. Next day, the car squealed like a pig when backing out of the garage. Went back and was told it was "a loose part". Couple of weeks later, went back for same problem. They put it up on the rack and said everything was fine. Third time I went back, I really thought it might be the proverbial charm. It has now been maybe 5 or 6 months, and I can't even stand to drive with the window open. My car sounds like a 1985 clunker (it's a 2008), and I don't see any point in going back there anymore. This was absolutely the worst customer service I've experience from a drive up auto shop. The customer service was laughable from the "experienced" service advisor to the point the manager had to help me. I had brought my truck in to get 5 wheel studs installed and get 5 new lug nuts on my 91 Chevy S10 and they were trying to upcharge the parts by 400%. Their basic labor rate is ridiculous for the mediocre quality that they accept. I don't knock the technicians for working there but the establishment itself is beyond messed up. read more

Not only did he tell me that my brakes still had pad but also that I did not even need to get my car serviced that day. Well I did because I appreciated his honesty. Although this location is out of my way, I prefer this location. I live closer to the Tatum & Bell Location but the General Manager Russ at that store is a real Pompous A-Hole. The General Manger at this Bell Road Location Angel Leon has 2 awards on the wall for outstanding service to customers for 2015 & 2016. The first time went to this location was early 2016. I had no appointment but they honored doing my wheel alignment even though more than 3 months later do to another location told me I had up to 6 months. Recently came back on June 17th to get rear shocks put on my 2008 Jeep Cherokee and they forgot to change my appointment in the system to the 17th from the prior weekend. They were darn busy for a Saturday but managed to squeeze me in at 4:00 (I was willing to wait) even though this meant they would be staying after 5 to finish a truck that they needed to pull a tech off to do my truck. Bottom line the guys down at this location seem honest and sincere and that is what we all want when getting are vehicle serviced. I heard them tell a couple people they didn't need some work done therefore not billed for new brakes they didn't need. Hopefully this place continues to strive as a place of integrity and honesty because it only takes one dishonest associate to sink a business. I recently went in for many checks as my brakes were squeaking and steering felt wrong and so did alignment. They did all safety checks and showed me what they saw as wrong and explained why my safety was at risk. They looked after me very well and even checked things I did not ask about and let me know what was important. It wasn't cheap but it was comprehensive and done well. I am satisfied. read more

We've been customers of a different Brakes Plus for several years now, but we have to give a special shout-out to the Glendale Brakes Plus (and Cippy) for going above and beyond to help us out. My husband is paraplegic, and he gets into and out of the truck by using a seat that swivels out and comes down for transfer into/out of his wheelchair. We were in the parking lot next to this Brakes Plus, and he was getting into the truck, when the seat rode over the cord going to the control, cutting off the power. So there he was, stuck midway in the air. We found two people to help lift him out and into his wheelchair, but the seat was stuck, with no way to get it back into the truck. We went into Brakes Plus, and, although they were short-handed, they sent out a technician to look at it (Cippy). He figured out how to split the cord and temporarily put it back together to get enough power to it to get the seat back into the truck. Crisis averted! We so appreciate their help. read more

Most incompetent place that I have ever seen. My girlfriend took the car to these people and after driving off, a howling sound from the right side tire (breaks). Not to mention the vehicle was also pulling to the right side. Took the car back twice and they came up with several unrelated reasons, serpentine belt needs replacing, control arm is faulty etc. Never taking my car to this place again in any state. Once bitten, twice shy. I might have lost the money that I initially paid, but they will lose more through my viral campaign. read more
