Be cautious! This shop supposedly stands by their work and care about honesty. I brought my car to them for a check engine light issue. They did a diagnosis and stated that there were no mechanical issues with the transmission and that it is a sensor issue. They also assure me that if the problem is not repaired , they will credit the money you paid to future repairs. Basically that was a complete lie. Because not even a day later the same issue happens again. They have kept my car over 3 weeks. They give it back and now a check engine light showing the exact same sensor code comes back on. They won't refund, credit, or do anything further for the repair. Basically if you pay them for a repair or replacement and the same exact issue comes back they will not credit your money and will simply tell you that it is separate so that you may pay them more money. read more

It's been over two months since the service, and I can say from personal experience that the vehicle runs noticeably better. The gears shift smoothly and the drive feels more responsive overall. The team did a great job, and I had full confidence in their work. A few weeks later, I took my wife's 2012 Lexus IS250 in for the same transmission service. This time, Roger (pictured above) was the one who worked on the car. I drove it home and, anecdotally speaking, it felt incredibly smooth--no hesitation or slipping gears whatsoever. I had a very disappointing experience with Tony's Transmission. After having my car serviced, it broke down again within a week. The issue was clearly not fixed, yet instead of standing behind their work, I was asked to pay even more money to address the same problem. There was no refund offered, and the level of service changed throughout the process, communication became poor and inconsistent once payment was involved. To make matters worse, when I walked in to pay the bill, the final amount had increased significantly without any written notice or prior approval, which felt extremely unprofessional and shady. The customer service was horrible, and the lack of transparency makes this shop very hard to trust. Between the poor-quality repair, surprise charges, and refusal to take responsibility, I would not recommend this business. Stay away. read more

Bad experience. Initial quote over the phone was for around $1100. When we went to pick up the Jeep they tried to say we agreed to 1600$. We had to argue with them for the rate they agreed to. Then within a week the transmission failed again. We decided to buy a car as a result. Be very careful for what they quote you over the phone and what they charge you in person. They were very rude when we told them their price was wrong and they agreed to go back down to $1100 dollars after a long and awkward period of arguing. Not fun. read more

I went to Tony's 5 Star Transmission with my Toyota Tundra in December 2023. I had some shifting problems with my automatic. They diagnosed it and determined the problems. With 225,000 miles on it they recommended rebuilding it. The parts and labor to repair was about 1/3 of what a full rebuild would have been so I had them do the repair, hoping it would fix the shifting issues. They told me up front that the valve body was suspect in the Tundras, so it was risky to do the repairs without replacing the valve body too. But that would have brought the cost up to almost the rebuild price. The repair was only partially successful, so they offered to go ahead and rebuild the transmission. That usually did not include the valve body but they found another transmission in the back that had a good valve body and replaced mine with that one and did the rebuild too. The total costs would have been $6500 due to removing the transmission each time and opening it back up. The owner stepped in and decided that was too much to charge me. We settled gladly to $4200 and still kept my 2 year warranty in place. It was incredibly fair and I was pleasantly surprised. It has been driving great ever since. Over the last couple of months, though, I have had this thump when starting from a stop. I was convinced it must be in the transmission. They worked for hours to determine this new problem. It ended up being the spline on the drive shaft lacking the proper lubrication. Tony came to my house to pick me up so I could drive it. (My wife was out of town and I had no way to get to the shop). He had me go drive it and said text me to let me know if it was fixed. I texted him, "yes it was great". Drove back to the shop to pay my bill and the sweet lady told me there was no charge. I was startled and started to argue with her that your guys had done work that was beyond what was expected in the free diagnostics. She said no and wished me a good day. I drove away very pleased but didn't feel good about leaving like that. I drove back and laid a $100 bill on the counter and said "take the crew to lunch". She said, "I can do that". My wife had a transmission light come on for a few minutes last week. We had heard of this place from a friend. She took it there to get it checked out. They did all the diagnostics and stated it is in great shape. For their time, no charge. Many places would charge a fee to simpend an hour running tests on your vehicle. They charged nothing. What they did was even more valuable for us. The technician noticed a sound in our differential. He stated it is the start of a problem. He then recommended us to a good, trustworthy place that specializes in differential repairs. This catch of an unrelated problem is good care from them. A little background, the transmission in the Inifinti Q50 fails like clockwork between 85K and 115K miles. I Initially, I took my Inifinti 2015 Q50 into a rival shop, who quoted me $5,700 to repair my transmission ($15,000 to replace it with a USED transmission). On a whim, I called Tony's as we were new to town and I knew no one. They were a pleasure to deal with and offered the intangible of honesty during all of my interactions. They were able to do the service required for under $1,000 saving me $4,700!!! The entire staff was exceptional to deal with and extremely honest. At the time was dealing with my Mother's failing health and trying to prepare for a trip back east, we had just relocated to Phoenix a few weeks prior. To say that life was presenting some challenges in a complete understatement. The dudes at Tony's worked tirelessly in getting my car repaired so that my wife and son would be safe while I addressed my mom's health back east. We were referred here by our mechanic after my daily driver started stalling. Bad news for me, it was the transmission. Right now buying a new car is not a wise move so we went with the option to fix. When we dropped off my car, the outside of the shop was packed. After talking to Tony, he let us know it would be a few days before he even looked at my car. A few days later, he called and gave us the option for a new transmission or a rebuild. We opted for the rebuild since our car is fairly new and low in miles. Again, he said it would be 2-3 weeks due to supply shortages which in my opinion is understandable. He called about 1.5 weeks later to let us know our car was finished. They did an excellent job and even gave us a warranty on their work. Had us come in about six week later for a follow up just to make sure everything was running smoothly. From start to finish we had very friendly service and they did an amazing job. Was referred to them by my mechanic. Took them 4 days to tell me what was wrong with my vehicle, and only after I had to cal them because they hadn't contacted me once. Was told it was not a transmission issue. To take my truck to dealership to reprogram some codes. My catalytic converter was stolen while my truck sat parked on their property. No video surveillance, no fence. When I spoke to the manager about what happened on their property and under their watch, he said he would call me to see how they could help me. All I wanted was for them to pay my deductible, as it happened on their property while my vehicle was in their possession. In the meantime I am out $500 for my insurance deductible to get my catalytic converter replaced. This business presents as a Christian business yet they did not even try to take responsibility or do right by the customer. I'll never take my vehicles to them again. read more

I called at least a half dozen transmission shops for an old 1985 classic vehicle that had a transmission slipping. All the other shops wanted to rebuild the transmission for a handsome sum. Tony's Five Star said they thought they knew what the problem was and it wouldn't cost much to fix. I took it in and they fixed it for a very reasonable price. Mind you they are a busy shop, but then again, I wouldn't want to deal with a shop that wasn't busy. It usually means there is a quality or customer service problem. I'd got back in heartbeat. I was originally refereed to Tony 5 Star from my normal mechanic...he stated that Transmission work is specialized and that Tony's Shop was the place that most mechanics in the greater NW area of the valley referred to Tony's because of their expertise and integrity. I was referred here by another mechanic who spoke highly of this place. I read the reviews and it seemed people had wonderful things to say. I even called before going and explained the problems in detail, and the man on the phone was kind, calming and reassuring. So I was hopeful. That is not what I encountered when I arrived. The minute I walked in it seemed I was interrupting something important. I tried to answer questions about what was wrong with the car and kept getting interrupted and talked over. The car wasn't making the noise I was complaining about and because it wasn't, they were not going to be able to help me. Then as if forced, someone got into the car with me to drive it around to see if it would make the noise I was talking about. That should have been my cue to leave. It was an uncomfortable ride and by that time I'd given up thinking I was going to get any help. No one even offered to look under the hood. I don't know where that kind reassuring man was that I talked to on the phone, but he is not who I met when I arrived. Unfortunately I did not encounter the outstanding service everyone else raved about. Too bad after I drove all the way from Phoenix. Lesson learned. read more

Great Shop did an excellent job. They were recommended by three different mechanics. They were thorough, the pricing was right. Instead of trying to up charge and give me something I didn't want or need they took the time and made sure that they did a thorough diagnosis. While I did take a few days to get the car done I know the only reason for that was they are that good. This is the first company that actually checked my Vin against possible recalls to make sure that I am safe. Brought my truck to these guys in December of 2021 for a transmission range sensor replacement. Took a week or so for them to get my truck pulled into the bay to even look at it. Once it was "diagnosed and repaired" I was told that the new FORD range sensor that I provided from FORD that they installed didn't work either. I live close by so I drove by and saw my truck hasn't been moved at all so was curious as how they installed it without moving my truck from the side lot. Decided to say I needed to get into my truck for something and what do you know? The FORD oem part they said they installed but was inoperative was still sitting in the box on my passenger seat. Confronted the office and they said there was a miscommunication on which truck was mine and what work was done. Once they actually got my truck in the bay I was told my PCM wasn't communicating and their code reader couldn't recognize my truck. Got a new $510 PCM and had them install it. (They didn't secure it in with the bolts). Also had to show up on a Saturday to help their tech work on my truck. Got the truck back a few days later. Drove it for about 3-4 months and the range sensor failed again so I went back and tried to explain to them what was going on. There was a guy in there I hadn't seen before who instantly got defensive as soon as I tried to explain the history of the shop and my truck. Raised his voice and continued speaking over me and wouldn't let me talk or say a word. Very unprofessional. The manager PD came in and heard it all and intervened and got it settled down and ended up having them put another range sensor in under warranty. That part now failed. I decided to take my truck to the dealership rather than deal with tonys again. Dealership said that the range sensor has scratches and tool marks all over and appears to have been installed wrong which caused failure. Also ford said the PCM wasn't the correct one. I brought my stock PCM (that Tony's said was bad) to ford and they installed it back in my truck and said it works fine. So I had to pay FORD to reinstall my stock PCM in my truck and install a new range sensor along with fluid and shop materials for $2000. After paying Tony's close to $500 and buying a $510 PCM that is not needed or returnable. So is now a $510 paperweight. There is also damage to the transmission case where Tony's dug out the roll pin for the range sensor. read more

Awful, I was referred to Tony's by my usual garage. They were honest and said that they do not do transmission repairs. I have used the referring garage for about 4 years and have found their service to be very good and reasonable. I was very very disappointed with Tony's five-star transmission. Immediately upon getting the referral to Tonys I called them to set up an appointment. No one picked up the phone but their message said to leave a message. I did leave a message stating that I was in need of a possible transmission repair. Nobody called me back that day. I thought ok, maybe they did not get the message? I called back again the next day. After another 24 hours, no response? I gave it a few days. No callback. Their website offers to book an appointment online with them. I did request an appointment online. Again no response after a few days? This is definitely not a company I want to do business with. Wow, if this is how they treat their prospective customers, who knows what they would do if they had my car? No one to talk to? read more

The service I received from Tony is greater than a 5 Star Rating! My car had to have the transmission removed to replace the rear engine seal. For whatever reason the new seal failed causing a small oil leak from the rear of the engine. Tony could not replace the seal again in a few days before I returned to Michigan for the summer. To honor his warranty, he agreed to reimburse me to have the work done in Michigan. I just received the warranty payment from Tony and I could not be more happy. read more

Telling me my Transmission was under warranty then trying to charge me a huge amount to fix it. I called and spoke with P.D. I can't say enough the lengths he went through to help me. He went as far as calling the dealership to find out why they were charging me more than a full rebuilt transmission to fix a small part. After his call the dealership changed their tune and my repair all of a sudden was covered under warranty. My car was putting out weird codes and the auto shop I took it to said it was the transmission and recommended Tony's 5 star. They were very busy and I have an extra vehicle so they asked for a little extra time to fix it. No problem. They were also very friendly. When I got the call a found out it wasn't even the transmission, but instead a rodent had apparently nested in my car at some point a chewed some wires I was surprised and relieved that it was only going to be like $300 to fix it!! I was prepared to have to spend a few grand on the repair!! I was also pleased that they were going to fix it and didn't ask me to come pick it up to take it to an auto electric shop instead. I was very impressed with their integrity since I don't have a lot of faith in many auto shops and expect to get a little bit "screwed" by most of them. 2006 dodge ram 2500 had trans rebuilt in mid December aprox. 17,000 miles later same exact issue arose and had to get rebuilt again (was covered under warranty) and now 5 thousand miles later truck started throwing engine codes for the trans. seems like they have no clue how to build a transmission without screwing it up, and to top it all off if you call 45 minutes before closing they just put you on hold or ignore it all together WORST transmission shop by far since i can't do 0 stars i'll do 0/10 read more

Recommended by a different company when they found I had a transmission leak. Talking with them was comfortable, and they were upfront about having to take a while longer due to high volume. I was anxious they would end up holding on to my car longer than the quoted time, but they actually got it back to me a day early. They were good about honoring their quoted price, and while I'm normally skeptical of places I haven't been, I didn't feel taken advantage of at all (big plus because my demeanor honestly screams "naive," which is true).
