    Transmission fluid Drain
    Klein C.

Tony's 5 Star Transmission I brought my parents' 2010 Toyota Highlander in for a transmission drain and fill at 90,000 miles. It's been over two months since the service, and I can say from personal experience that the vehicle runs noticeably better. The gears shift smoothly and the drive feels more responsive overall. The team did a great job, and I had full confidence in their work. A few weeks later, I took my wife's 2012 Lexus IS250 in for the same transmission service. This time, Roger (pictured above) was the one who worked on the car. I drove it home and, anecdotally speaking, it felt incredibly smooth--no hesitation or slipping gears whatsoever. Two months later, it's still performing flawlessly. Misty, the manager, is the real heart of this shop. She not only runs a tight operation, but she also remembers customers by name and truly goes the extra mile to make people feel welcome and taken care of. While waiting for the Highlander to be serviced, I witnessed Misty and her team assist an elderly man who had previously gone to Walmart for a transmission issue. He was wrongly told to pour fluid into the radiator cap, which created a dangerous situation. He brought the car to Tony's, and Misty personally stepped in. Despite the mess, they helped him out without asking for a cent. That kind of kindness and integrity is rare in any business. Tony's 5 Star Transmission has earned my full trust. Between the quality work, knowledgeable staff, and genuine care for their customers, I wouldn't take our vehicles anywhere else for transmission service.

My wife had a transmission light come on for a few minutes last week. We had heard of this place from a friend. She took it there to get it checked out. They did all the diagnostics and stated it is in great shape. For their time, no charge. Many places would charge a fee to simpend an hour running tests on your vehicle. They charged nothing. What they did was even more valuable for us. The technician noticed a sound in our differential. He stated it is the start of a problem. He then recommended us to a good, trustworthy place that specializes in differential repairs. This catch of an unrelated problem is good care from them. Some garages would have not mentioned the problem. We need more places like this. People who care to do the right thing.

As a female, I know how I have been scammed by mechanics. So I found true value in Christian Brothers Automotive-Peoria, Lake Pleasant Pkwy! I found this establishment via word of mouth from all the way in Michigan. Their reputation precedes itself. They are honest, knowledgeable, fair and they provide quality service. Tom, and the entire staff served with a smile. Overall, I would highly recommend this Christian Brother Automotive to anyone. We'll stick with them!

Without indicating there was ANY cost involved whatsoever, Front Desk Guy sweetly asked "would you like us to give it a once-over?" Which, since I was at that time a regular customer, I THOUGHT that meant just give it a safety-check out of courtesy to a repeat, publicly complimentary, senior-citizen client that they maybe cared for! How wrong I was. After having it several days, they tell me that they can't fix the original problem because they "Couldn't find the part - and wouldn't install an after-market part off of Ebay" (My car is a 1999 w/ low mileage) Then the real Clinker after 3 days: They call and say, "We couldn't fix your problem, but come and get your truck and pay Christian Bro's nearly $200 bucks for a "diagnostic" that I WAS NOT INFORMED UP FRONT would cost anything at all! But also, this 'Diagnostic' informs me that my truck needs OVER $4300 DOLLARS in servicings and repairs - Including NEW BRAKES that, apparently the "Diagnostic expert" wasn't aware had been replaced by them on that very truck a few months earlier! I felt totally taken advantage of and complained to the manager, John, who gave me some "yada yada" and stated that that particular employee working the front desk was fired - However, and this is the whole point of the story - This manager of this multi-million dollar, allegedly 'Christian', gold-mine on the corner of Thunderbird & 75th Ave would NOT refund all, or any part, of this deceitful charge with a humble apology for their unscrupulous employee (note: Failure to disclose a COST right up front is a LIE ) Not only that, but Upsell #1 opened the door for MEGA-UPSELL #2 of $4,319 dollars! I STILL look back at this lengthy report with shock and awe. According to this diagnostic that I didn't ask for, there's no reason, whatsoever, my truck is still able to roll down the street. According to them, practically EVERYTHING on my vehicle is on it's last couple of miles.; Lastly, and final insult to my patronage, my age, my intelligence, nor would Christian Brothers even offer a discount or a half-off on the next visit to them. You know, a way of saying, "We still want your business". I think they saw a senior-woman and saw a dumb sucker ready to be plucked out of the stream of suckers. In that lone experience, I learned Christian Brothers is all about "Show me the $ MONEY $" They are only after the money, and customer retention is completely moot. They could care LESS if you are a returning customer. I am no longer using Christian Brothers for any auto repair needs. If anyone knows of an HONEST, caring, competent auto mechanic around Peoria/Glendale please be so kind as to DM me. I'm shopping for one. **I tried to scan & copy the actual Invoice from this incident, but for some technological mystery beyond me - I couldn't get this file search in Yelp to access where I am sure I put the two files.**

Service was a in house rebuild on a 2006 F150 transmission. Mike takes care of the rebuilds and his expertise shows. Oh I guess now is a good time to mention that this vehicle has 439,000 plus miles on it. And the transmission had never been touched as far as repairs, just fluid and filter changes when I remembered they were due. They stand behind the work and do understand the customers needs. Had a slight issue after picking the truck up that was promptly addressed even though it was actually not related to the rebuild. My shift cable was so old that it would not retain adjustment. It was 20 years old at least. Mike found the issue and actually walked me out so I could see what was happening. Part was ordered, wrong part was shipped over to there shop twice due to it not matching the vin number. When they found the part number after removal. Nadira actually ran and picked it up to help expedite the repair. Mike took care of the labor to install and I just paid for the cable. They didn't have to do this, this was above and beyond since this was not related to the actual work preformed or quoted. Transmission has about 350 miles on it now and wow its working way better than I could have dreamed of shifts are on point and smoother than I would have ever dreamed off. Way to go, This shop is on my highly recommend list and I will be taking all my business here if the need ever arises. Shop has my vote for business of the year, way to go to the whole crew involved. We brought it back and took more PTO. They said luckily it was under warranty. Well, it better be because that's the same part you tried to fix two days ago. And this day it's still leaks but I'm not trusting them to touch it a third time. 8/7/26 My husband's Chevy Trax had the coolant system "fixed" and we got it Friday at 5pm. It's Sunday 8/9/26 at 8:30am and our car overheats in a drive thru and we had to keep turning it off. Luckily we were a few miles from home and let it cool so we could drive instead of walking 2 miles in 100+ temps. Christian Brothers put us in a really dangerous position. When we had to get the Ford fixed for the second time that was a red flag that we should've listened to. But because we needed our overheated Trax towed, it was easiest to go with Christian Brothers. Let me tell you... Do you not take the easy way out because of the "free tow" because after $1300 our car is still not fixed and now we have to take PTO and rearrange our schedules all over again. I don't think it's a free tow anyhow; I'm sure it's added to the cost of the car services.

Like so many people, I was overwhelmed, scared about the cost, and unsure who I could trust. I felt like I was getting the runaround and hearing that my best option was to trade in my vehicle and buy another one. It was an incredibly stressful time. Thankfully, I decided to get a second opinion, and that decision changed everything. From the moment I contacted this shop, I was treated with kindness, patience, and respect. After my vehicle was towed to their shop, they took the time to thoroughly inspect my vehicle, explain exactly what was going on, answer every question I had, and never once made me feel pressured. They focused on helping me understand my options so I could make the best decision for my situation. That kind of honesty is rare. In a world where it's easy to feel vulnerable during a major repair, finding people with integrity is priceless. They earned my trust through their transparency, professionalism, and genuine care--not through sales tactics. One of the biggest lessons I learned through this experience is this: always get a second opinion before making a major financial decision about your vehicle. Every transmission and every vehicle is different, especially high-mileage ones. Before agreeing to a service your transmission or deciding to replace your car, take the time to have it evaluated by a reputable transmission specialist at Ken's. If you're searching for an honest transmission shop in Phoenix, I wholeheartedly recommend coming here first. Businesses built on integrity deserve to be recommended, and this is one of them. Thank you for treating me like a person instead of just another customer. You turned one of the most stressful experiences I've had into one that restored my faith that honest businesses still exist. I will gladly recommend you to my family, friends, and anyone looking for a transmission shop they can truly trust.

I had asked my son to get it towed to this location because it was right next to the hospital where he works. When the car was towed there, it was already closed. The next day, a guy by the name of Craig called me. He said he does not know why the car was there. I explained what happened over the phone as I do not live in that area. He then first said there will be a diagnostic fee over about $200 but I will get a discount as I am a AAA member. I reluctantly agreed as the rate for diagnose was pretty steep. I've seen shops charge maybe around $60-80 and I thought that was high. Now this shop charged $200 I thought to myself. My son had to drop off the keys and as soon as he did that, I got a call back from the shop. Not the same guy I spoke with but now a guy named Michael. Michael explained to me that the radiator and fans needs to be replaced. Head gasket was blown and likely need engine replacement. He went further to say that the engine would fail compression test and would likely return even if fixed so not worth keep putting money into it. I then asked him "Do you have picture of the blown head gasket you're speaking of?" He then said "No I do not" He then went on to say that he knows of someone who can salvage the car and would pay out few hundred dollars for it. He went further to say that on the condition that it has a clean title (in other words, no salvage or otherwise. Wait, why does it matter whether it's clean or not, if your friend is going to part it out??!!) Something in my inner voice told me to just say "I will think about it". I then immediately called my son. It seems that Michael had asserted similar problems about the car. So we chatted a bit and decided it would be better to get it towed to my house so we can get a better picture. So my son went to the shop before closing to pay the diagnostics fee and to get the key. He then called me saying "Michael" was rather upset that he went to pick up the car (amusingly). We both agreed that this guy Michael was shady. He knows of this friend that he used to have vehicles salvaged (red flag) for number years (those poor customers who got baited into his "doom and gloom"). He will take it and part it out (yikes). While we were talking, Michael kept saying he did not appreciate that I was insinuating a possible misinformation about the diagnosis. He then asked me "do you know how many years I've worked here?" That's not the issue. Though my fault that when I called, I got a bit heated but I later apologized. But even before I had finished talking, he said "this call is done" then hung up. I called back and apologetically asked if the diagnose was done by him. While asking him the question, I told him that if I had hung up on my customer just because the customer was upset, does not matter who's fault it was, I'd probably be fired on the spot. While I was speaking, he kept interrupting me so I had to keep saying "can I finish speaking then you can speak?" When I pressed him who had diagnosed the vehicle, whether it was him or Craig, he hesitatingly said it was a guy named Rodney. Then I asked him why I did not get a report of the diagnosis. To cut to the chase, he said he will scan the report and email it within 15minutes. Now it's been several hours on Saturday 5/9/2026 and still have not seen the report he had promised to send within 15 minutes or so. This all feels surreal as how can AAA do this to me and my son! 5/18 Update: Lakshmi Pal from AAA Customer Relations contacted me via BBB case ID 24844257. She's trying to spin it like a repair issue. Nope, it was the shop trying commit fraud of taking my son's Acura under false pretenses. Neither of us received official diagnostics report. 5/13 Update: After Zach's Garage of Tucson changed the thermostat and the radiator (see attached photos) it's now running smoother than ever before. By the way, I've reported this shop to AG of Arizona. I am now contemplating to press criminal charges against this shop. 5/12 Update: Still no report received. My trusted mechanic just called me saying it needs new radiator and thermostat ($639.23+$207.28, incl. labor), and he replaced them and now running perfect. Michael failed at his illicit attempt to commit fraud to a AAA member. BTW, to date, AAA never reached out to me about this. 5/11 Update: Michael still has not sent report. 5/10 Update: Car was towed back to our house. Car started up just fine, no smoke, or no weird smell. Seems to run very smoothly like a Honda engine should. I will get it checked out by my local "trusted mechanic" and update this review as soon as I have it. 5/9 Update: It is now 16:27 MST (Phoenix Time) Saturday, 5/9/2026, and business is closed (closes at 4PM on Saturday). I never did receive the report he had promised to email at around 8:15AM this morning.
