I've had both a really great and an okay experience here. A few years ago, I had my front and back brakes serviced and received awesome customer service, which is ultimately why I returned. My most recent experience wasn't bad, but it didn't quite match the level of service I experienced previously. They completed the service within a few hours and at a decent price. I typically have my car serviced at the dealership, so I already knew what I needed when I came in. I think that's important at a place like this--you need to know what you want, or the cost can add up. That said, I do feel they provide honest assessments. Overall, they did what I asked, but the customer service was just okay this time. When I first went in, I was told they were booked for the day and to come back tomorrow. When my husband went in, they took the car and had it finished earlier than expected. So, while I would still consider using them again, I think my previous experience set a higher expectation for customer service. read more

Brakes 4 Less - Front entrance - Auto Repair Near Me - Jacksonville, Florida

I had a complete brake repair, all for tires. Pads and rotors replaced, and brake fluid flushed. Prices around 3 to 400 dollars. Not long after my breaks begin to sqeaking, I returned to the shop under warranty they turned the rotors. One month later I returned they replaced the pads. Returned again replaced pads and turned rotors. This went on until several times even once after my warranty expired. My Nissan Murano was due for an oil change, so I went to the Avenue's dealership down the street, who does a courtesy 19 point inspection on every car the come in for repair. So I ask could their technician inspect my breaks for noise, they reported the pads or rotors did not need to be replaced due to ware, but that the parts used were substandard after market parts. I eventually went to another mechanic recommended by a friend, who replaced my pads with Auto Zone, Duralast gold, problem now corrected. I will never do business with this company again. read more

They provided quality parts and fast installation while I waited. I would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

I never have an issue. The customer service is always good. the young man that helped me today was really nice

Drew was great, professional explained everything and saved me money from dealership with a warranty.

Recently recd. a brake job at this Phillips Hwy. location, but within 2 months or so, a new brake problem developed. After an inspection at this Brakes 4 Less, it was discovered that my brake line had developed a severe leak. (The leak was totally unrelated to the previous work the shop had performed). The management explained the extent of the problem and advised that the car was unsafe to drive. They COULD HAVE taken on the job and cost me many days and many, many $$$...but they didn't. They strongly recommended taking the car to the dealership, instead. The shop might have taken advantage of me easily, but chose the ethical, professional route....taking MY interest into account, instead of their own profit! I'm very appreciative and would recommend Brakes-4-Less on Phillips Hwy. to anyone! read more

Scheduled the $299 pre road trip service at 1000- got a call 30 mins after drop off and was told rears are good, need to replace front brakes and turn rotors. Went with premium pads in front, turned rotors and topped off fluids. Returned two hours later, total cost after tax was $225. I usually do my own work, but what they did was only $75 more than i could have done it for myself so was very happy with service and price. read more

I brought my car back in to B4L where I originally had the brakes put on; after driving up to NY for a week and back. Potholes, gridlock, stop-and-go traffic, crazy drivers, etc. I thought for sure my brakes needed to be looked at, after so much overuse. I was able to book an appointment for the following morning. When i arrived they immediately took my car in the bay, and had my tires off in under 5 minutes. The technician and the manager looked over all four brake pads and came over to tell me that they all still look brand new, and that they hope to see me back in a year or so for another check up. They're absolutely amazing. You won't ever regret servicing your brakes there. They definitely are the best in Jacksonville. read more

I came to breaks 4 less to get my breakpads replaced, after another autorepair company was trying to charge me much more. Their prices can't be beat! Staff was super friendly and kept me in the know the entire time. Drew went out of his way to get a sensor at NO COST!! They really went above and beyond to ensure that I was taken care of and didnt stop until I was completely satisfied. I could tell they really cared, and that kindness made my whole day. Can't reccomend enough! read more

Customer service desk person was great but mechanic was horrible. Emergencies happen and if you don't want people coming in a half hour before you close than change your closing time. The mechanic was so ready to go, he didn't do a proper check. I went a couple of minutes down the road, the mechanic showed me pictures of how my back brake pads were touching metal. But the mechanic here said there was nothing wrong with the car, it's the tires. I understand why they're averaging 3 stars. They deserve one star. read more

Wow, took my Fathers car in with 100K miles. Expected a call back that all 4 brakes needed replacement. Which would not have been surprising based on the miles. Instead he said that they were all good and should go at least another 20k miles. No CHARGE. It's a rare find to find an honest Business so when you do please leave an appropriate review like mine. They will have all my cars Business on the future. AAA read more

Worst place ever!!! I know it was a bad sign when you walk in on a Monday and there no customer inside. I should have left they over charge you I got a rear brake and rotor done for 500 dollar WTF? The only reason reason I didn't leave because they had my tire and car on the lift . These reviews must be Fake!!! they must be family and friend discounts! Because I sure didn't get one. Save your money and go else where I will not be back. read more

My experience with Brakes 4 Less was excellent. I made an appointment, and my service started on time. Jamal thoroughly explained the issues with my brakes, and the team completed the service promptly. It was a delight to be in good hands and to have the remainder of my day! BAD BUSINESS!!! I CAME INTO GET A LEAK FIXED AND LEFT WITH THE SAME LEAK, THEY NEVER EVEN TOUCHED IT.. They told me the reason it wasn't fixed was because I declined it. I never declined anything, they tried to charge me over $1000 for a ton of things that I did not need!! Ended up paying $650 for them to change 1 rotor and 2 front calipers and I still left with the leak. Not only did they waste my money but they wasted my time, they would work 2 minutes and take a break for 10 minutes. I called corporate to try and resolve the issue EVEN CORPORATE WAS DISRESPECTFUL AND CALLED ME INCOMPETENT!! Obviously I'm not experienced in brakes or I wouldn't have came here. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING BRAKES! My 19 year daughter went in due to a noise in her brakes. They told her she needed all new pads and some caliper work. Took it to another location, Nissan because she owns an Altima. Pads were fine (75%) and no caliper issues. Problem was they needed to be cleaned due to brake dust build up!! $18.50 at Nissan and the problem was solved. Pretty sad how a company can take advantage of my daughter. Sad. read more

I went in for simple brake pads replacement and they charged me $650. I told them to put my car back together and I'd take it somewhere else. They claimed they didn't even know how to put it back together. I don't like those kind of shady tactics. read more

I was at another shop that quoted me $800 for my brakes. Scheduled an appointment here the same day. Dealership was going to charge $275 more for rear brake job ONLY. I went to Brakes 4 Less got full brake job w/40K warranty. While I was there I discussed the other issues the dealership said I needed repairs on with James and he told me how to fix the remaining issues for $0.85. James was very honest with me and that goes a LONG way in the car service industry. Thank you for the advice and the fantastic work and great service! I will be back! read more

Good service, had some miscommunication with manager since we needed only the back brakes being done but they did all four, it was to late to take them off but spoke to manager he was very sorry and did give us something to make up for the miscommunication. It was worth more than the brakes and up'd the warranty on the brakes as well. I would recommend the Phillips highway location. Manager and staff were nice. read more

Totally incompetent business. Spent 1,000 there and still no brakes. Had to take vehicle to Tuffy, which was totally professional, and spend another 1,000 to finally get fixed. Manager there very rude and unprofessional. Do NOT go there! read more

Great experience. The manager Drew was very nice and professional. Help me to get my vehicle back on the road.

I was recommended this place by a friend. I made an appointment 2 hours in advance. I had all 4 brake pads and 2 rotors replaced. Went to the Philips Highway location for the first time to get My brakes worked on. Come to find out that I just needed My front pads replaced and My rotors were still good. I spoke to James and He's very knowledgeable about His job. It took less than two hours to fix My pads. Thank You James and as well as the mechanics at this location. Will definitely return here in the near future. read more

To begin, the service here is good. Friendly customer service. Open on the weekends. No issues there. The issues came when after my four break pads were installed. I began having extreme shuttering issues that didn't seem normal. I took my vehicle to my mechanic and he mentioned they had installed my break pads backwards. What?! They also mentioned there were parts missing all together. Needless to say, now I know why they are called Breaks for Less. read more

Went in because I was hearing a squeal/grind when turning the wheel. They got me in a bay immediately. Said something was touching the rotor. Test drove it again just to make sure it was good and sent me on my way. They didn't sell me anything I didn't need and were super quick and friendly. read more

I will start off by saying I did not get my brakes changed here. The thing is that's exactly why they are getting five stars. I have an upcoming trip and wanted to make sure the truck was good to go. Guys get my truck right in and called me to the bay. Of course I'm like dang i am about to drop 1k dollars because of some bs they are going to try to sell me. To my surprise they said everything was perfect and as much as he wanted to sell me a package it be a waste of my money. We all have had people taken to the ringer by auto repair stores. It is amazing to find trust worthy guys who truly look out for customers. Amazing customer service and you won a customer for life. read more

The staff here was very knowledgeable when it came to finding the issue with my car. They were able to locate the exact problem before starting the inspection. I'll definitely be visiting these guys again for any brake issues. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! We bought new brakes from this place 18 months ago and have had to return 3 times for issues. Every time we go back in they give me a quote of no less than $300 to do more work. This place is the biggest scam going. Also reporting them to BBB. read more

They test drove the car, took it in and gave me a true honest detailed analysis of the problem.. provided me with multiple options of service.. analysis was needed to rebuild calipers, shave rotors, replace hardware and pads.. i got the $309 all 4 tire break package, lifetime warranty.. in addition Tim have me 10% on the spot discount.. just awesome. Brakes 4 Less was a bargain. When it cost $139.00. Now it cost $179.00 for the same service. Same old smelly Building and Shade Tree Mechanics. Better off buying the equipment from Autozone and getting someone to do the Job. read more

I stopped in later in the day for new brake pads. They were able to start working on my car right away. Within a few minutes they told me what I needed and how much it would cost. I definitely recommend them over the dealerships! read more

Came in just before a hurricane and had all 4 wheels done, new rotors, the works. 50,000 mile guarantee. 30-something thousand miles later I get a grinding. Front right is bad. Called, dropped it off, repaired, no charge. And no call when the job was done, as requested. I just stopped in as I was passing by and was told it was completed. A week later I notice my right front wheel (which had been cleaned during the warranty repair) is really dirty. Dirt and dust is adhering to the wheel and will not come off like it does on the other 3 wheels. The wheel's finish is supposed to be a shiny silver color, now it's still silver, but missing the finish coat. The clear finish is gone. I'm guessing someone cleaned it with something that damaged the wheel. (Like brake cleaner??) Warranty was fine, but I wouldn't go back since my wheel was ruined. read more

Teally like this place. The wait was long, but the had someone shuttle us to the mall whice was less than 5 munutes away. I would recommend anybody come here. Everybody is really friendly and are very knowledgeable about the brakes read more

I was told I needed to have all my brakes pads, rotors and calipers all changed- the cost was over $800 and that was with discounts the manager informed me he took off. I went a friend referral and turns out only one pad and caliper needed to be replaced- not all 4. Though i understand the wear and tear, and the balance of replacing them all at one time- the tech and manager both made it seem like i could not drive off the lot without risking my life, which is not true at all. read more

Brought my car in here early December. Told me I needed my front rotors and brake pads changed, but that the price to get all 4 done was a better deal. So I did all 4 and waited for about 1 1/2 hours to get the car completed. After driving it for about a week, I began to hear a squeaking noise (which is why I brought it in in the first place) coming from the front right side. Since I have a 12,000 mile warranty, I brought it back in and explained the noise I was hearing. 45 minutes later they claimed to have "fixed" the noise I was hearing and said I was good to go. Here we are about one month from when I first got the brakes repaired and the noise is 100x worse than when I brought it in. Not wanting to waste my time at this location again, I called the San Jose location and was taken care of the way I should've been when I first came here and paid for my brakes to be FIXED. This location was a waste of my time! read more

If I could go lower than 1 star I would. I made an appointment and they couldn't take my vehicle for another 2.5 hours after that set appointment. Keep in mind the guy that made the appointment said I would get right in. So I rescheduled for the next day and nobody shows up to even open the store. I've wasted over 3 hours of my time at this point and customer service could care less. I was reluctantly offered a 15% discount... Stay away from this Mickey Mouse operation unless you want the run around. read more

Honesty is what everyone is looking for when it comes to car repair. I can tell you that you get honesty at this location. I recently began hearing a squeak with my brakes and I was convinced I would need new brakes. After some research I took it in to this location. Scott was great and set my wait expectations. After about 20 minutes he returned and said I didn't need new brakes! Get that! - an honest repair shop. Even better he said he didn't charge for the brake inspection. In the future, when I do need brakes, I will be sure to return to this location. read more

I Do Not like how they play games in giving an estimate for the cost of work. I called to get a quote on replacing brake pads for the rear on my car. Lady gave me quote of $119 for my car. I made an appointment right then over the phone. When I went to the shop, the man wanted me to sign a statement on the repair order that I wanted a quote for the cost of the work. I said I already had a quote over the phone. He said they would inspect both front & rear brakes and call with a quote after they knew what work should be done. He called to say that in addition to the pads that they wanted to replace "the hardware" that would come to $159, so I said OK. When I picked up the car, the bill was quite a bit higher. I questioned this and he pointed to a sign on the desk that said there would be a "shop charge" of $12. So the total bill for the work quoted as $119, wound up costing $171 PLUS TAX or $182.97. I had Assumed the $159 quote was a complete price. Well, you can see I was too trusting. Buyer BEWARE. read more
