Not so much! My first and last. would not recommend. Will not go back! First appointment; took 2 hours to change a sensor (15 minute job if you know what you are doing). Left with same issue as went in for. The only GOOD experience part is they are cheap! (Guess you get what you pay for!) Not much "bang for your buck. My recent visit to the Green Valley, AZ Brakemax was confidence-inspiring. Several months earlier, my wife took her SUV in for an alignment check. They found that it was out of alignment, aligned it, and that was that. I bring this up because their competitor (similar name, but includes masters instead of max);) indicated that her SUV had $3,000 worth of alignment issues! I have two local mechanics that I use and trust; they both looked at it, and they found nothing that Brakemasters had supposedly found. I didn't mention that to Brakemax, and they found only that the alignment was needed. Her SUV has been driving fine and in alignment since. I bring this up because my more recent visit was to check if another vehicle of ours needed an alignment. To me, there were no obvious signs it was out of alignment, but I like to be proactive for the good of the car and the tires. To my surprise and satisfaction, the store manager, Tim Devaney, had it checked, and they found only a very minor adjustment needed. , Tim and GV Brakemax have earned my business. read more

One Thursday I realized I had a punctured tire around 4pm, and I was panicking since next day I had a super important appointment. I called literally every tire repair place near me and they all were useless. They came up with every excuse from "we're super busy, earliest we can get you in is on Monday" to "sorry, it's too late. We're closed" (mind you they closed at 5 and it was around 4:20). Not BRAKEmax. As soon as I called they were like "Yeah, sure, bring it over whenever you can." Well, I get there, and they were busy but took care of me right away nonetheless. I had a flat tire and the sidewall was punctured so I needed a new tire. I didn't want to go into Tucson to the dealer with a spare on. Stopped into Brakemax and got a quote. It was 25% cheaper than getting the same tire and air sensor from the dealer. I called the dealer to make sure these guys were ordering the correct parts and tire and they were right on. Wow, I'm so glad we chose BRAKEmax over the other options nearby! My mom and I came out of the grocery store to discover a flat tire on her car. While she contacted AAA, I looked up places to get the tire fixed. BRAKEmax took us right away, fixed the flat, checked all the other tires, and replaced the tire gauge caps. Literally choked when they came back with a price gouging cost of $530.00!! GMAFB?! How can you really expect to sell this to the public? $530.00 - for TWO shocks that have four bolts and takes LESS than an hour to install? Jesus Lord in heaven this is shameful. Really didn't expect that... The shocks only cost $76.00 online so you can certainly inquire what in the hell they're thinking here. And this is why I'm concerned about my elderly mother going to places that gouge the public like this. Will have to resort to purchasing them online and knocking them out. I went back on 5/18/18 to get some brake work done, along with an oil change and the cabin filter replaced. Victor greeted me, and he's always very polite and helpful with answering questions. Christina came in later to give me an update and to let me know my car was almost finished. After I got done paying, I remembered that I wanted to see my old cabin filter, so Victor went out and got it. He didn't act like it was a bother or anything, and boy, was it clogged up! This is a good place with competent, friendly staff and a clean facility. The prices I have been quoted were in line with the final bill, as long as one keeps in mind that there are taxes and disposal fees for fluids and chemicals. When they were finished (2 hours later and offered her a list of $500 worth of car repairs), they gave her the keys. She went to start the car to leave but it wouldn't start. They looked at her, smiled, and said that it was out of gas, even though it had a quarter tank when she dropped it off. They did not offer to help, even though she was obviously stranded in a car that wouldn't start outside their establishment. She's pretty shy, so a friend called them up to get them out there to help her. Three gallons of gas later it still wouldn't start. This time they jumped start it. It started up. A bad battery. This is a car repair company that can't tell the difference between something as simple as a battery problem and no gas? Do you really want these guys working on your car, with that type of customer service? Best advice - don't. read more

BEWARE! I got a quote on an AC repair for $2150! Guess what they "found" coupons for $300 off. Totally a new AC for $1,850 for my car... Refused to price match so I went hunting for quotes. Want another shocker? I got a quote for $1,200 for the exact same setup at a different shop. They told me that other places wouldn't use "top of the line" products which was a lie that they fed me. Tim, the store manager is a LIAR. Because I have a card with him, he thought he had a monopoly on my business. He told me my battery was at 1.8% and needed to be replaced or it would die the next day. I took my vehicle next door to Brake Masters where Carlos tested the battery at 84% and further stated a professional mechanic would never state exactly when a battery would die. Tim underestimated me and how much tele-sales I've done. I know when an aggressive sales person is deceiving me to try to push with deceptive tactics. He also wanted $200 for the battery! Thoroughly insulting and untrustworthy store manager. I Strongly recommend you go to Brake Masters as Brake Max is not to be trusted. read more

I have been bringing my car here for oil changes for a couple of years now and they always do the oil changes in the time they I was in Tubac when someone pointed out that something was dragging under my car. I stopped in Brake Max and told them the issue. They immediately put my car on a lift. I waited maybe ten minutes when they brought my keys back and said my car was ready. They had secured the dragging housing and didn't charge me to do it. I have been happy with their service and now I am very happy to continue doing business with this location. read more

My wife took her in car for a special deal on an oil change. Good deal by the way - 20 bucks. But oh my gosh the other issues they found. It seems the seal on the front right axle was leaking. Both the front and rear engine mounts were cracked and needed replacing. I mean the engine could buck under load and take out the radiator or hit the hood. Snap from the transmission. And we can fix that right now for a mere 650 dollars. And little lady if you don't have the cash we can set you up with a no interest credit card. Ummmm... well her usual mechanic changed out the axle seals 6 months ago. She took it to her actual mechanic, the terrifying broken seals are some dry spots on the rubber washers. And the oil filter was leaking, likely why the axle seal looked wet. This is Green Valley lots of retired fearful old folks, how many people has this place fleeced? I brought my vehicle in for a oil change. I was informed that the Serpentine belt need to be changed. Even though I had it replaced 3 years ago I agreed being that my wife and I were taking our vehicle on a long trip and I don't want to take any chances. They called said it was finished, I paid and took the vehicle home. As a precaution I always check to make sure the work was completed. When I opened the hood I couldn't believe what I saw. The power steering fluid reservoir which sits on top of the Serpentine belt on a bracket was left dangling. The hose that it's attached to was rubbing on the belt. If I didn't check it we could have had major damage done to our vehicle if the belt snapped the hose and the reservoir got tangled up with the belt. Of course I brought the vehicle back. The rep came out attached the reservoir to the bracket which took just a few seconds and I got the usual apology. If this is the type of attention to detail you get with this shop I would recommend taking your business elsewhere. We definitely are because my wife and I could have been stranded on the side of the road with a huge repair bill. read more

Repaired the tire immediately and at no charge. It meant the world to me. It may be a small gesture but with everything going on in the world it's nice to believe in people still. I made an appointment for an oil change. When I get there I see they are really busy. I asked the man how long will it take. He said 90 minutes. My response to that, is why make an appointment if its going to take that long for an oil change. Apparently they get backed up when they offer more services to the people in front of you. So if they decided to get more than oil change, your going to be waiting hours for your simply oil change. Doesn't sound like good business to me. Had to have it towed to brakemax they fixed the problem and did not charge me and drove it twice to make sure everything was good!! I've been here twice for an oil change and both times the mechanics came back and said something else needed to be done or "fixed" on my car. I am not knowledgeable with cars so I naively paid the money both times. After my second oil change with Brakemax, my cars engine began to rev on its own and stall while on the highway. Soon after, a check engine light and low oil pressure light both came on. I immediately called Brakemax and took my car back as I commute about 80 miles round trip for work and felt highly unsafe driving my car. The mechanics said they were unable to help me with the problem after inspecting my vehicle. They said despite the codes on my dashboard, the vehicle seemed to be fine to drive and there was nothing further they could do. I did not feel comfortable and instead took my car to a local mechanic where he spent a week inspecting my car to figure out the problem. He then called me stating they had used the wrong type of oil specific to my car and also had put the air filter in the wrong way. I was in shock and disappointed at how they could've overlooked something like this during an oil change service. If I had not taken my car elsewhere, I'm sure my vehicle would've been irreparable. I don't recommend this place at all and am writing this review to prevent this from happening to someone else. If I could rate zero stars, I would. read more

Started out to have a slave cylinder leak checked on the clutch system as well as just a general brake and front end inspection! Knowing the slave cylinder was already leaking I wanted that replaced or repaired no matter what! Dropped off on Thursday and letting them work it into their schedule for the weekend as we were going out of town! Got a call stating that the valve covers were leaking, thermostat housing was leaking, oil pan gasket leaking and that both upper and lower ball joints needed replaced! They informed me that this vehicle was unsafe to drive until all of this was taken care of and a proper alignment could be done! Scare tactics don't work on other mechanics - sorry boys not this time! I am not that old and know plenty about turning wrenches! They told me on the phone that the repair to the slave cylinder which was an R&R job takes literally 15 minutes - would have done it my self but didn't have the time before my next outing! On the phone they said 218.57 but when I arrived to pick it up 352.21! Interesting 109 labor to install and then 39.99 to do a 10 minute max suspension check! Are you kidding me - they do it for free at any tire center! Went to drive the Jeep out of the parking lot ( No Clutch). Oh does that have to be bleed to work! Yep works fine with about 10 minutes of me bleeding the slave cylinder by myself so I can drive it home! Got home checked the suspension - 1 tie rod bad and all four ball joints well within tolerance - they didn't even mention the tie rod but definitely wanted to hard sell me on something that didn't need repaired! They also tried to tell me that the reason the clutch wasn't working was due to misalignment or bent fork on the clutch itself! Sorry guys everything including the e genie were replace less then 10,000 miles ago! Shiester's that is about all I can say! Steer clear of their hard sale tactics and get at least two different opinions! It's not your life they want to protect it is their pocket book! I would have loved to have taken a look at the brakes of the guy that was on the phone who was told that he can't drive his car with the brakes as bad as they are and that they really didn't want to do anymore unless he got the brakes and rotors taken care of right now! Ask for your parts if all else fails and take them to a reputable parts house or other mechanic to be checked out! read more

I just had a fantastic experience getting a new battery installed. Dave, the manager was awesome and this Delco professional battery has a 30 month free replacement warranty...it seems expensive at $169 but the hot, dry desert eats the batteries up quickly. I only had my old battery for 27 months so if this happens with this battery, it will be replaced for free! Thank you Dave! read more

I took my car to the new brake masters for an oil change and brakes last week 1/7/20, drove it to Tucson and heard a noise didn't think anything of it but kept getting worse and worse so I took it to brake max and they found the caliper bolt was missing and oil filter was leaking. fixed it up free of charge will be coming back to brake max for everything thank you. What a great place for service! According to the guy at the counter, Brakemax does everything but tires! I didn't realize that! I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of service and the great facility for customers at this business. I got a full service oil change and was happy to hang out in the customer lounge area. This location really caters to their customers with relaxing chairs, ottomans, a counter space for those needing it to work on, outlets for computers/phone chargers, an overhead flat-screen tv, free wifi, and coffee counter. The technician came out to personally tell me the things he saw my car needed, without "selling" me services. I appreciated not having to deal with that sort of pressure. So pleased to have them in our community! I look forward to returning soon for future car care appointments. read more

The manager of this store charged us $550 for an alternator for our 2011 mini van. He told us it was an OEM part and claimed to have called several parts places including Merle's. The next day I called the same parts store and they quoted me half the price as a regular customer and not a commercial dealer. I also called O'Riley's (which is 500 yards from their ft door) who quoted me less than $150 for the SAME part. I even called the Dodge dealership in Tucson who quoted significantly less. When I called the manager to find out why we were charged so much for the same part he started off by saying that their store is not a non-profit but a "for-profit" and then denied telling me that our van required an OEM part. The manager claimed he got a quote from Merle's at $700+ for an alternator. When I told him I called the same place for a quote and it was significantly less, the manager tried to tell me I wasn't calling the same shop. I asked him why he didn't call O'Riley's for the part (since it's literally in their ft yard) he danced around the question and told me several times that they are not a charity. Long story short...after I told the manager I would show up at his store every morning for the rest of my life until this issue was resolved...he ended up refunding $200 via check in the mail. Come to find out, a good friend of ours was over charged significantly for an alternator by the same store just last week. We understand that stores need to make a profit and we absolutely WERE NOT asking for charity, just to be treated fairly. Car repair and parts are expensive but come on! Lesson learned...I'll do my research from now on! Stay outta this place. They're awful! read more

Don't take your car here if you value your life! I took my car here for an oil change and tire rotation. Everything seemed ok until I tried to remove one of my tires to check my brakes and couldn't. The mechanic at brake max tightened the wheel nuts on my tires so tight I couldn't get them off. I had to take my car to another shop in Tucson and it took them over an hour to remove the wheel nuts and they told me that the wheel nuts were so tight that if I would've gone over a bad pot hole that they could have broken. It also cost me $100 for them to do this and another $50 for new wheel nuts. Several of the wheel nuts did break when they removed them. Can you imagine what would've happened if these wheel nuts would have broken if I'd gone over a bad pot hole on I-19 going 75 miles per hour? Don't risk your life!
