DO NOT GO HERE. Trust me. While driving at 45mph, my brake caliper suddenly fell off and I nearly crashed into another driver. I reported the incident to upper management, but after our initial phone call, they ignored me. Eventually, they assisted me after more calls and text messages. Despite their attempt to repair it, my car still squeals from the incident. When I returned to them, they claimed the squealing was due to my suspension, denying any connection to the caliper incident. Went to check alignment on truck. Had no customers and the two people there were sitting around. Was told they had appointments and I would have to make an appointment. The sign on top says they can check and see if you need an alignment in 2 minutes. I wasn't offered this option. This used to be a good business. No more. I made an appointment for the free brake check on my wife's care due to my wife and kids hearing squeaking noises. I never heard it but I took it in to be sure. I made the appointment, had no wait. They test drove it and could not hear anything. Then they removed the tires and found the culprit - heavy braking - an issue that is on the driver. They pointed out the brake pads are in great shape, the rotors are fine. It would have been easy to suggest a "solution" that cost a lot but they were totally honest saying that driving with an easier touch is the answer. They've earned my future business!!! read more

No stars, and if I could give a minus I would. They broke multiple studs on my driver side rear wheel. They claim they had prior damage. They removed them for brake inspection, then reinstalled the lug nuts and one would not go on all the way so they tried to remove it and it would not turn. The tech used a torque wrench to back it off, and the stud broke. They told me it wasn't their fault, and that was normal wear and tear. I had to argue with them, and then they decided to replace the stud with no charge. When they started removing the other lug nuts they snapped another stud. These had been put on with an impact wrench earlier. Now they are making me pay to replace all of the studs. They will not accept responsibility. I was going to have brake work done here, but not anymore. I used to be a fan of brake check, but not anymore. I suggest you stay away from here. I was called by Kris and told they would not charge me. van was left overnight. I show up this morning, and it is still on the lift where it was yesterday. Really!!!!!????? Like I said above, stay away from this place at all cost. The young manager came in and apologized to me and told me he did find out about the torque on the impact wrenches. He said they are set to 125 ft/lbs. I asked him what the rating is for torque on my van, and he said they had that on a chart. I asked him again what the spec was for my van and he went to check. He came back and told me that it shows my van is to be torqued at 100 ft/lbs. I asked him what he thought, and he told me that they always check the torque with their torque wrench and when it clicks it is never tightened more than that. The young manager didn't get it, so I asked him if he realized that they damaged the studs just by putting them on with the impact wrench. It was then that the light bulb came on. I told him they should reset their impact wrenches to around 85 ft/lbs. now they are having to replace all my studs on Tuesday. Kris told me I could have that done at one of their other stores. They are going to replace them free of charge on Tuesday in sugar land. We will see if the sugar land store is any better. read more

I'm still kinda unsure about this brake check... these fellas talk a good game, but I got my front end brakes done here. My rotators, pads, shoes, flush and etc. So far so good. Mr. Herbert works the front desk who does all the technical talking and computer work from what I see. He also cracks jokes. I had my front breaks done today , after driving home and driving around I started hearing a clunking noise. I called and reported the issue. I came in to have them reevaluate the work they done and told me everything's good it's nothing we did making that noise. I've never heard a clunking noise on my car before having my front breaks replaced here. Not recommended at all !!! read more

Wow. Where to start? About 6 months ago I was in here when an employee forgot to bleed the brakes on another customer's car and the employee proceeded to back the customers car across the parking lot, through the bushes and into the ditch. About a month ago a few days after I had my oil changed here my car developed a strange squeaky noise. I lifted the hood and found a lemonade jug with used motor oil in it rubbing against my serpentine belt. Last week out of desperation and the convenient location I went and got the oil changed in my wife's car and her 3 year old car has now developed an oil leak from the drain plug. The employees always seem really nice, but man this is the most incompetent crew of people I have ever run across. read more

I brought the hoopty in Saturday for a basic oil change and I was in and out within 45 minutes. The guy at the front desk, Terry, was very cordial and made sure I was taken care of. The waiting room was clean and conveniently faces the shop area where you can see the team working on your ride. Since I was a first time customer, I received a $10 discount for my oil change, which is a cool marketing ploy if you ask me. I can't believe how amazing my experience was here. These guys were so nice and helpful!! The manager made sure I was informed of what I needed. The price was so much less than another place had quoted and there was a couple issues that came up while they were working. I totally expected it to be more money and they did not add any of the extra work to the bill, just what I was quoted. I can work on cars myself but after this experience, I am not sure I will ever need to again. When I tried to pay more, he said no he wouldn't take more and that if God blesses me, then he blesses him. Please give them a chance, they can make your day, just like he made mine!! read more

Brought my car for spongy brakes. They could not figure what was wrong. They changed pads and kept bleeding the system to no avail. After 3 hrs of working on it, they decided that the master cylinder had to be replaced. They charged me $600, and worst of all, when my wife drove it off 2 miles from the shop, all 4 wheels locked up and smoke started coming from the wheels. I had to have it towed to the dealer and it turns out that the after market master cylinder that they had put was causing the wheels to lock up. A very expensive repair. read more

I had my brakes done about 2 weeks ago. The brakes continued to squeak, I returned a few minutes later. Joe got in the car with me and drove around and they continued to squeak, he said give it a few days and it should stop. Well two weeks later it is still squeaking, I call and talk to the manager terry, he said it would continue to squeak until I got the remaining brake work done and he didn't have time to argue with me about what a worker might have said. Basically they will tell you anything to get you out of the door and then won't fix what they have said they already fixed! Never going back there!! read more

I meant to write a review yesterday but couldn't get to it so here it is. Long story short, my sister blew her tire right near this shop and after not being able to loosen the lug nut from the deflated tire I recommended she call the shop. They not only walked over to the vehicle to do a visual inspection but they drove it with upmost care to the shop and replaced the tire with the spare and filled up the tires for her at NO charge. I have a coupon for an oil change. I was told it takes 30 minutes for an oil change. It has been an hour and I am still waiting for my car. The guy at the counter is nice but this is ridiculous. Lesson learned. You get what you pay for. The place I normally go to I am in and out in less than 30 minutes and that includes a car wash and vacuum. read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE service. DO NOT take your vehicle there!!!!! My brakes were squeaking so I had brake pads and rotors changed out. On the way home brakes went out and almost crashed. Had to be towed back and they "fixed" what happened. The next day the brakes went out again and once again I almost crashed. I had to take off work to be towed back again. They had their top technician fix the mistakes again. The store manager would not refund me the money I paid on the initial service of $500 and he wanted a pat on the back for covering the tow costs and fixing the issue that his workers caused. Called VP of the area and he argued with me as well and no refund. They could have been paying for a totaled vehicle or hospital bills from a serious crash. The VP just kept saying "yea but you didn't crash". Take your vehicle somewhere else, anywhere else and spread the word of this awful place. I'm afraid to even drive my truck. I got my oil changed and 13 days later I had no oil in my car! They did not put an oil filter in my car and almost burned up my engine! Yes they fixed it but for me to get there I had to buy oil to put in it and wasted a whole lot of my time!all they did was put the filter in for free. I feel they owe me a free oil change. I would not recommend this business to anyone the business took my money and did not do what they said they were going to do. I went in for a alignment and they told me they did the alignment but your tie rod ends are bad after they done the alignment. My car still pulls to the right and the manager test drove the car after the alignment was done and said everything's fine. Bad place to do business with. read more

I returned to Brake Check after having them check my brakes before a long road trip 2 years ago. They went through the whole brake system and told me I had no issue. No charge. No worries. Same road trip two years later, they checked car out again I could feel the brakes shuttering a little when I stopped...and brakes still okay, but rotors a little warped and needed re-surfacing plus brake fluid dirty. $140 out the door with confidence car will make another 2,000 mile trip no problem. read more

The online appointment capability was good. However, the free inspection is only a visual inspection. They charge $75 just to pull brake codes. I left and I will find someone to pull brake codes for free or just replace my ABS Sensors for about the same price. read more

Not very mechanic savvy. Diagnostics aren't very accurate. Wait times are long or even average at best. Went recently because my normal mechanic shop was too busy but trying to switch over was a mistake. Also note that I have been there a couple times before I found my current mechanic shop. Corporate management got ahold of me and sent me a message after posting the review. Due to the professionalism I changed my review from one star to two star. The staff here is very nice and the brake jobs seem to be fine but I had two different vehicles aligned and was told on both elsewhere within just a few weeks that wherever we got alignments they were terrible and didn't know what they were doing so I had to find another place to get them both re-aligned. I took my vehicle to Brake Check in 5/2015. I had to wait 30 minutes before I was waited on. I had pads and rotors replaced and a wheel alignment at a cost of nearly $900.00. When I backed up the next morning my brakes squealed. I took it back to brake check several times when I had the time. Each time I waited at least 30 minutes before I was waited on and was told when I was waited on that it would take a minimum of 2.5 hrs to get to my car. I was told that I when someone finally waited on that I would basically have to pay for a new brake job. When I told the manager that was absurd he told me in a threatening manner that I did not know how to drive and that I damaged the brakes. I told him that I have been driving longer than he has been alive and had never experienced this before. It is bad enough that I was provided an incompetent serviceman but being talked to in a belligerent and threatening manner was the final straw. I want others to be aware of the problems at this store and not patronize it. Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.
