they are more interested in collecting your personal information than they are in changing oil or (in this case) inspecting your car. In this day and age where you can barely answer your phone without it being spam, their tenacity in insisting on collecting your information is totally inappropriate. We went there to get our cars inspected. We had three of them. 2 for my daughters in college and one of our own. The man (a hindi-indi looking type) insisted on having my wife's cell phone number. Knowing that this could only lead to more spam we refused. The guy WOULD NOT TAKE OUR PAYMENT until my wife provided him with a fake number, and went on to insult the condition of my daughters car. I will never spend another dime in the place, and frankly, under other circumstances, this encounter would have ended very differently. Hundreds of dollars to them, but not another dime for them, or the car wash next door. Don't let them con you that they "have no choice" but to get your information. they just sell it to others. Just got my state inspection done here and I know I will be returning for any of my other tune up needs. Gary and his team were amazing. I was taken care of right away and the staff were very friendly. They made sure I was informed of what was going on and everything was done in a timely manner. I was also going to get an oil change but Gary let me know that my drain plug was balled and that he did not want to do any work to it just in case there was something else wrong with it. I appreciated the honesty and he even gave me a shop that he recommended to get it fixed at and some advice if I were to go to the dealership to get it fixed. I knew I needed an oil change, but I needed a lot more than that. I had my filter replaced, oil changed, inspection done, transmission oil drained and replaced, and an on-site repair on my windshield. All for $210. I had my toddler and two dogs with me, too. Gary came out and pet them, informing me that I was OK to let them in the lobby. Cliff and Terry took great care of me, along with all the staff. My car ran so much better and I felt a noticeable difference in the air we were breathing inside the car. They also checked my tires and other fluids, just in case. From start to finish, I probably spent about 30 minutes in total, even with another two customers' cars in the bay. I will definitely be back with my other car. To move my car a non-hyperbolic total of 14 feet literally every single adjustable thing in the Dragon was fucked with by the workers. Both side mirrors. The rearview mirror. Both seats - height, axis, and everything. All air conditioning vents askew. If you are going to do that to a person's metal child then have the customer service controls in place to say "sorry mate, we fucked with everything in your car, it will take you at least ten minutes to get everything settled the way you like it and had it perfect twenty minutes ago" after you hand them back their keys. So I went to the Kwik Kar on Old Galveston Rd. first thing the owner question why I got a new car. not saying Hi how are you or how you been! I told the owner I wanted synthetic oil in the my car, then he told me it was not time to change the oil. Also, he told me I was confused about how the oil change works on a hybid car and said that honda does put in synthetic But they don't and he also told me that I don't know anything about cars because. I stopped here today to get my oil changed and my car inspected. Shortly after I arrived they said they couldn't do the oil change because the screws to the splash plate were so damaged and rusted that they would have to cut the entire plate off. They also said they had to tell another customer the same thing today. On my way home I decided to stop at brake check to see if they could get the screws off. I explained to them what the person at Kwik Kar had told me and he looked confused and said he would check it out. When he got my car up on the risers he called me out to look at it. There was no damage or rust on any of the screws, and he explained that all he needed was a flat head screwdriver to get the screws off. I was gone in about 20 minutes. I will never come back to Kwik Kar. read more

I went for an oil change and an inspection, they first fail my car for the brakes and sent me down the road to get fixed. That's fine and all, but when the repairs were over 500 I went for a second opinion. My brakes and car are fine, passed with flying colors. Now, that's not the part that got me to leaving this review, it's the part of they over charged me then said it was my fault. I went there and the guy quoted me 75 with the inspection , good, fine, I get my bill 110.00 holy cow. So I called and he told me I was wrong... I went to this business because it's local and it had such good reviews. The first time I went, fast service, but my husband noticed that oil was leaking under my car. He checked it, and the filter wasn't tightened. When I went back a second time, last week, I mentioned to the tech to please make sure the oil filter was tight. He blank stared at me as if he wasn't concerned. I just pulled my car out of the driveway and there is oil that has leaked in a large spot on my garage floor. Twice, the same issue. Went in for an oil change. Somehow during the oil change, something was done to disengage my airbag sensor. Now I have a warning light, that was NOT on previous to my visit, saying that I need to service airbag. And apparently now because of this, NONE of the airbags will deploy if I'm in an accident. I was told that I'd need to take it elsewhere to get a reading on the airbag circuit. Which will obviously not be free. So basically I went in for an oil change, and when all was said and done, I now have airbags that won't work, and will have to pay someone else just to tell me why. I've come here for years, without issue. But I feel like after all the business ive done with them, I was just told "sorry, can't help you", and sent on my way with a much bigger problem than I came in with. Huge disappointment. What a Great Experience! All I needed was an Inspection Certificate. Before going to Kwik Kar I checked the Texas Online Inspection Sticker/Certificate website. I read the prices for the Safety and Emission Inspections. The price on the website was $38.50 total for both. I received a pleasant surprise from Gary at Kwik Kar when my bill was only $25.50 for both inspections. Gary was also very pleasant to talk with during the 15 minutes I spent total time at Kwik Kar. I've been going to this Kwik Kar for a while, since it's right near my office. They do state inspections, oil changes and other maintenance-type work like that, but they're quick, and if something is out of their expertise, they will refer you elsewhere. The manager, Gary, is always there, and he is very nice. Prices are fair, and prices for all the common services are listed on the wall in the office, so you know what you're getting into. They have never tried to sell me any extra services or done anything other than exactly what I asked for. I wish they offered more services, but I appreciate that they specialize so they can be really good at what they do, and I will keep going to them for oil changes. read more

This was my first time taking my car to this place and my LAST. I only stopped here because of convenience and what a mistake that was. There wasn't a wait and now I know why. They rip you off by telling you that you need additional overpriced services that are not necessary. I was told I needed my air filter changed and the guy even showed me an air filter that was filthy. He brought the dirty air filter to me, inside the waiting area. I was surprised because I had just had the air filter changed three months before at the place where I normally take my car for an oil change. I asked them how much they charged to change the air filter and the guy said $40. I politely passed because I felt that was too much money, plus I knew it had just been changed and I still had warranty from the previous service. When I went to pay, the manager was RUDE and made a comment that I should get the air filter changed. I smiled and said, sure will. I didn't understand why he had to be rude just because I refused to get a service that I knew I didn't need. Sure enough I went back to the place where I had my air filter and oil changed the previous time and they showed me the filter attached to my vehicle and it was CLEAN. I told them how I was shown a filthy air filter the day before and they asked me if I was asked to come see the filter attached to my car or was the filter taken to me. I explained it was brought to me and they said, "that's what some places do to make you think you need to have that service completed just to charge you more money for an unnecessary service." We have been using Kwik Kar for over 10 years. Gary and company do a great job at a reasonable price. Went Tuesday to have car inspected and headlight replaced. When done, Gary said the battery was weak and needed to be checked. Immediately took to Sears at Baybrook Mall and had checked and replaced with a warranty adjustment. Gary, Cliff and the rest of his staff do a great job and I highly recommend using this fine locally owned establishment. read more
