Came here this past Sunday for an simple oil change and replace brake pads off the recommendation of a friend in the area (I live in the Galleria area) and me expectations were blown away by their service. Showed up at 8:55am for my online appointment and Jerry greeted me at 9 promptly getting right to work. Chatted with some other long time customers in the waiting area and heard nothing great things about their experiences. I told Jerry what I was looking to get done and he was very straightforward and honest in letting me know what they were going to look at and even doing a walkthrough with me of their findings and suggestions. After talking it over with him a bit, ended up getting new pads, rotors machined, new calipers, alignment done (lifetime warranty), as well as take advantage of their oil change coupon book from the holidays (4 for the price of 3). He walked me over to their computer and showed him adding in the individual services and applying the applicable discount at the time (online appointment is a MUST!) so everything was as transparent as possible. All in all, I was extremely pleased with my visit here and will definitely be back as I think I've now found a place where I can leave my car in hands I trust. read more

Absolutely terrible experience with Brake Check -- avoid at all costs. I brought my truck in for a simple alignment after installing new tires. It still pulled slightly to the right, so I returned and was told to "drive it more and then bring it back." No big deal. When I took it to another Brake Check location closer to my daughter's school for a quick fine-tune, things went downhill fast. The tech spent an hour and a half on my truck, only to eventually tell me they didn't know how to get it aligned. When I got my truck back, it was noticeably worse than before: a loud clunking sound, a hard pull to the right, and my front tire was rubbing the fender badly, something it had never done unless at full lock. Trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, I took it back to the original location hoping they could at least return it to the baseline they had set. They worked on it for maybe 10 minutes and handed it back still in terrible condition. At that point I had no choice but to take it to a reputable shop--NXT Up Offroad & Performance--who thankfully fixed everything. They immediately found a loose bolt causing the clunking sound. Yes, Brake Check literally sent me on the road with suspension components not tightened. They also confirmed the alignment was so far out of spec that it would've ruined my $1,900 tires prematurely. I contacted Brake Check asking them to reimburse the cost of repairing their negligence. Even with clear evidence, their Vice President refused and gave me a bizarre analogy about buying a taco at one restaurant, not liking it, and then asking another restaurant to replace it. Not only is that analogy terrible, it completely ignores the fact that Brake Check's work was unsafe and caused additional damage. Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend Brake Check to my worst enemy. They do sloppy, careless work, don't take responsibility for their mistakes, and their negligence could cost you thousands--or worse, cause an accident. Save yourself the headache and take your vehicle somewhere reputable. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I was told the wait would be an hour and a half to two hours -- it's been FIVE hours and I'm still sitting here. Absolutely ridiculous. If the wait is going to be that long, just be upfront about it instead of wasting people's entire day. On top of that, the employees give attitude and stare when I ask for an update, as if I'm in the wrong for wanting to know how much longer. Don't come here because they will not fix your issue on the first time. 1st time going to the store because of brakes squeaking, the manager there (at the time) said to me it was my front rotors since I had just changed the brake pads, I needed to also do the rotors. I went ahead and got the work done. 3 days later my breaks are squeaking again. I return and the same manager said the issues was coming from the brake pads and bad rotors (manufacture issue) in the FRONT. He suggested I get brand new brake pads and they would warranty out the rotors and replace them with brand new ones, I agreed. Finally, after almost 8 hours I leave. Again a few days later it starts to squeak. I took it back yesterday and the new manager there checked all rotors and brakes and said "everything looks good, I'm not sure why it is squeaking and can't do anything unless I hear it too". I left and came right back since it started making noise again just a few miles away. The manager said to me it is the back, you need rotors and brakes in the back. Aren't these people brake experts? They did not offer a discount to get the new work done, not even an apology. This has all been a waste of time. The vice president is also very unkind and rude. His name is John Slayer or something like that. He told me I should google my issue and find a solution. read more

Took car in for basic oil change. They take you out to the garage to inspect under your car and point out other issues that may need fixing. All I was told was that, for the age and mileage on my car, it looked amazingly clean...ZERO leaks. This was on a Wednesday. Saturday morning I noticed oils stains under where the car is parked normally. Took back, sure enough, they stripped the drain plug putting it back in. I can only imagine what underneath the car looks like now, AND wonder if the drain pain is stripped as well. They changes the oil again, and installed new drain plug, and assured me.....I owed them nothing! I didn't even know that had to be mentioned. They also gave me a card for a free oil change. I'll see if I can trade it to the pressure washer guy, that's going to charge me $300 for cleaning the stains off my driveway read more

Then proceeded to look on oreillys to see what the minimum specs were on the rotors. Told me i needed new rotors for $287 that is without brakes included... ive been here an hour with 2 kids & have gotten no where. I told him put my tires back on & im done with business here. Then proceeded to ask me what do u think autonation does differently than what we are doing?? DO NOT USE! Poor quality parts that do not last. Poor customer service and in fact out right deceitful. Took vehicle in fr grinding brakes that were last replaced by them and during the inspection brake parts were falling apart. Was told they couldn't do anything about the issue even after admitting that the brakes were improperly done the first time. Then told me they could not do a ten percent discount like it states online because they couldn't discount labor. However there was labor and parts in the bill because the previous repair messed up other parts that had To be replaced. Save yourself the time and money and use someone else first. read more

Jerry is a hard working person and explain everything to me. The staff are very well trained and all were very punctual and well collaborated. I went into Brake Check do to a shake in my Tahoe at highway speeds and random squeek in the brakes. I was hesitant do to an experience I had had in another town but had lifetime warranties on some parts so decided to give them a shot. Called and Anthony was very polite on the phone and said bring in at my convenience. I didnt even walk into the door before they came out to greet me. +1 off the bat. Next good sign was the housekeeping of the lobby and shop. Dealing with brakes all day is not the cleaniest job but the entire place inside and out was very well kept and organized down to the tool boxes. This definitely made me feel a little better about who was working on my vehicles. They immediately got my vehicle on the lift. After inspection the showed me what all was wrong. One rotor was slightly warped, Pads were getting low (replaced anyway due to warranty), alignment was out, and sway bar bushing rotted. I agreed to repairs after being shown the total bill, which I was very pleased with what they covered under warranty, and off they went. Between Anthony, one other gentleman (sorry cant remember his name) and Jerry I was constantly kept up to date on where they were in relation to working on my vehicle. This was very nice and much appreciated. In the end I was completely satisfied with the service I received and drive away a very happy customer. Many automobile shops get a bad rap and you walk away feeling dirty and taken advantage of. My experience with Brake Check the woodlands was the complete opposite. I am from out of town and was low of brake fluid. I called and asked about getting it serviced and just adding the fluid that I needed (my reservoir was half full so not completely out). Not only did they accommodate me within a minute of driving in, they actually added brake fluid and sent me on my way without charging me. Bad service, bad attitude, looking for money. This brake check is a S*** Show. Got some work done 6 months ago. Needed some brake work done. Didn't know what. Turns out I needed some brake cylinders on the drums. Then rotors, new pads, new shoes and drums had to be machined. Ok sure, my car was older and needed some work. 6 months later same car has a brake issue again. Take it in. Needed... new shoes, new pads, new drums, new brake cylinders, a master cylinder and brake booster. Curious, i asked how this was possible and wanted to know the milage on the pads and shoes. 12,000 miles, incredulous I wanted to know how the front pads needed replaced at 12,000 miles. Get a call back, turns out the pads don't need to be replaced. Flag 1. Well the car needs an alignment also, gullibly i said ok. The master cylinder and brake booster was to expensive, $900, got it done else where. This will come back up. Brake check goes back over what I am getting done, shoes, new drums, new cylinders, "fluid" and an alignment. I say ya and call me when it's done. Get the call at 5:45, they close at 6 and i said i'll pick it up the next day. Go to get the car. The alignment couldn't be done correctly and i needed ANOTHER part to adjust the camber. Assuming they did the best work they could do with out the new part for the camber they said it was good to go. Flag 2. Went to pay noticed the "fluid" was $75 and remembered the conversation of and "fluid" and realized I got weaseled there. Ok FINE. My fault I should have been paying attention but an honest place wouldn't have to sneak it in. Paid the 450$ and left to get the master cylinder and brake booster done elsewhere. Driving to the shop to get the master and booster the car can NOT be driven without holding the wheel with both hands because the vibration was so terrible. Get to the new mechanic shop and the first thing they say is we need an alignment. Without any hello or prompting of any kind. I explain we need a part apparently and they say whatever. They do the master and booster and said they looked at the alignment and fixed it. Gave me the documentation to show it is in line. Say i should get a refund for it. Next day, I go to brake check to see about a refund. Took in the documentation for the alignment from both brake check and the other shop. Asked if I could get a refund for the alignment. Mike: tells me he cant read the paper and doesn't know what it means and the only way the car could be fixed is if after market parts were installed and they would have to look at the car.... Flag 3. Ok look at it. No after market parts were installed. Well that shop could not have fixed the car with out doing out of spec manufacturing alignments. ( they did not). Mike is now upset that I didnt just bow out of the situation because they are in the wrong and tells me, well I can't do anything about it with out making copies and talking to my boss, and then they will mail out a check if they can do anything and that won't be for weeks and so... Me: so call me when you talk to your boss. Let me know. I leave and wait for a call. Next day I call up get told that George is the one handling it and I can talk to him. HEY GEORGE!!! GUY ABOUT THE ALIGNMENT AND REFUND IS ON THE PHONE! ...cool. This is george. Hey george i was calling about the a refund. George: Well you got after market parts installed and alignment and that's not my fault if another shop didnt charge you for the work that they did. Me: there's not after market work. And it's not about the other shop not charging me for the alignment work. George: Well if the car wasnt running correctly why didnt you bring it back. (I had another appointment to get to) and why wouldnt you give us an opportunity to fix our work. I started to explain how if they did their work appropriately to begin with there wouldnt be an issue now. George cut me off continued to repeat how he wasn't responsible, how it was my fault for aftermarket parts, how i should have brought the car back to them in a more reasonable time frame. Continued to not let me speak at all. I finally yelled that he should let me explain. CONTINUED to cut me off and finished with HELLO, HELLO IS ANYONE THERE?, I CAN'T hear you. I said, have a good day george and hung up. Contacted the contact us for the website by phone and sent an email. No response. I hope you stayed with all this and never go here because i guarantee you need something you didn't know you needed and your alignment is out. read more

An unknown click sound still comes on while driving, no solution or contact from them. Price for work done was lower than dealer and their competitors. Yet not satisfactory. All I came in for was an oil change. Faster and cheaper than my previous place! Store clerk Juan was very straightforward and pretty funny. I think he might practice his jokes at home! I'm always a little wary about going to get automotive work done...I'm afraid that I may be tricked into getting extra, unnecessary work done on my car, since I know so little about cars! But this Brake Check location made me feel so comfortable and confident that my car was getting exactly what it needed. This was a surprisingly great experience! Jerry, the manager was helpful and honest. They show you what they find or don't find. I took my Mini for an oil change and general check up., the dealership said it would be $149.95 and probably new brakes because of the mileage. Jerry showed me that the brakes were fine and the total bill with my first oil change discount was something like $53.00. The place is clean, they are honest and a pleasure to do business with.
