Review Highlights - Tomball Muffler & Brake

Had to go back three times for one water pump repair AND pay a diagnostic fee of $120 for them to tell me what I already knew, then charge me $230 more than the dealer would have.

Long story coming. Bear with me, I rarely complain publicly…read more So today, I took my car (with a baby and an 11 year old) to get inspected. Anyway, I went to Valvoline off of Main Street. After waiting for about 20 minutes, it was my turn. There were two inspectors who were working together. One took a quick walk around my car and informed me that it would not pass inspection. I asked why. He said that 1) my back windshield wiper was damaged and needed to be replaced. I asked if they could do that for me and he said yes. Perfect. He was going to make a product/service sale. No problem. 2) My windshield brow tint was too low. He proceeded to pull out a tape measure and measured the outside of the windshield to show me. It was 7 inches long. Apparently it can only be 5 inches. I asked him if I should take my car to the dealership to get it fixed since they were the ones that installed the tint. He said, "People sell illegal tint all the time. But you won't pass inspection with this. It's too long." It wasn't illegal. And I've had it for nearly 4 years. Now, I don't know much about cars. I'll be the first to admit it. So on my way home, I called my husband and told him about it. He told me that he's taken my car to Valvoline for the past 3 years and it's passed inspection every time. When I got home, I went to the department of motor vehicles website and looked up inspection specifications for the brow tint. I may not know things, but I can google them. According to the website, you measure the brow tint from the inside of the vehicle. Not the outside. When measured from the inside, it's less that 5 inches. When he got home, my husband took my car to another shop in town. They agreed it was perfectly within inspection guidelines and they passed my car. I'm livid. I feel like my time was wasted and it was taken advantage of that I didn't know anything about cars. Because I would HATE to think that they don't know inspection guidelines at Valvoline. And if they don't, I definitely wouldn't trust them to do anything under the hood of my car. From here on out, we will be taking our vehicles anywhere else.

I was concerned originally on the price being I got a lot of services done. But the price was very reasonable. Other places would have taken all day to finish just an oil change, but this crew and shop competed all assigned tasks at a reasonable pace without deterring performance. The crew were communicating with each other like they were on a pit team haha. Great job yall.

These guys are always so nice and fast. I really appreciate them. Thank you!…read moreTo update, I've been coming here every 3,000 miles for about 2 years. They always remember me and are very professional. I do most of my own maintenance but take my Fusion to them for oil changes because it's to low to the ground to crawl under. I appreciate that they only offer other services but don't try to force. Ive only had one issue but want to say what happened because I think they handled it well. Last week after my oil change I got in my car (which they pull around with the a/c on and hand over to you) and drove away. I got about a block away when all my warning lights came on and it lost power. My blood went cold. I've heard horror stories of places not refilling the oil and the motor burning up, I normally check before I leave but forgot this time. I pull over kill the engine pop the hood and look. It has the right amount of oil and all the caps are tight. I restart and still warning lights with no power. I limp it into a parking lot and call the shop. I talk to Brian and told him what happened (at this point I've been gone for five minutes). He asked where I was and sent one of his guys to look. Within five minutes he was there and looking under the hood. We found where the wiring harness had come undone from the air filter housing when they checked my air filter. It's not their fault it could have happened to anyone. He reconnected it and told me to call if I have any more trouble, which I have not. I just wanted to post a review because I trust these guys. The manager has done a good job of finding good people that are professional and courteous. Thank you all!

An gave me an attitude pretty much told me they weren't gonna do anything about it. So unprofessional district manager or owner really should look into this especially the people that worked there a couple of the managers, especially I will never use Jiffy Lube again and I've been going to Jiffy Lube for about 15 20 years. Lost this customer. I wish I could give them last then a zero star.
