I took my vehicle in to get a break job done. I was told it would be over 500 dollars. I agreed and had it done. i was waiting for about two hours and went to check the status and noticed that they left my headlights on for the two hours. I asked them to turn off the lights. then I waited another hour or more for them to finish. shortly after I left I felt the vehicle was shimmering when I braked. I took a vehicle in for an alignment after getting new tires right down the road...an hour and a half in they couldn't even figure out how to do a proper alignment and when they came out to tell me, you could tell they could have cared less about the quality of service they were providing. This was Definity a one and done for me. While the prices offered might pursued you to go there it's most certainly a you get what you pay you. These guys were the best. My sons trucks brakes were squeaky so I took it here assuming it needed new brake pads or something. They were quick and nice and came back after the car's inspection to not only tell me, but bring me out and show me that my break pads were basically new and did not need replacing. I bought the car used so I wasn't aware when/if brakes had been changed. They explained that it was likely water/rust combo as the car had sat for a while. Went to get my brakes inspected and couldn't even get them inspected because they claimed subarus had wheel locks. My subaru didn't have wheel locks. The workers there literally had me googling how to remove the wheel locks. I ended up having to go to another shop who was able to check the breaks and low and behold...there was no wheel locks. Brake check is also a reliable place for front end alignments. Took my truck there and was told the wear on the front tires was so bad that I must get new tire prior to getting the alignment. For the past 8 years, my F-150 truck and I would frequently patronize the Pearland location; my truck has received just about every service that Brake Check provides. After moving to Kingwood, I was super hesitant to patronize another Brake Check location because of bad experiences in the past. I decided to give this location a chance and I'm 100% satisfied with the customer service. Juan Gallegos took the time to evaluate my vehicle and thoroughly explain the immediate services that my F-150 needed as well as the foreseeable services that I would need in the near future. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. My wife and I experienced a nightmare at this place. They ruined her brakes, stripped bolts, cut them off, and caused us to spend most of the day there as we had to return after leaving because our vehicle was making a loud noise and vibrating from a simple brake job. They ruined our brakes and we had to bring the vehicle to the dealership to get fixed. They couldn't believe what they saw at the dealership. To top it off they got grease all over the cloth drivers seat! The district manager did pay the bill at the Honda dealer and said he would refund our money at their location but that never happened. He lied and said that he mailed the check and never did and the VP refused to refund us even after we showed proof through email that we were promised that. Poorly run company from top to bottom. I made an appointment online upon arriving they immediately put the car in a bay and inspected it. In 15 minutes I was told what the brakes needed and 45 minutes later I was on the road. Overall good service, the facility unfortunately turns you off as you drive by or upon arriving for service. The building, signage, pavement, everything says "We're not doing too well financially" that aside the staff was friendly, courteous and did their job without missing a beat. read more

Hmm, where to begin on brake check. My experiences their have been a mixed bag. The first time that I took my car there, I got it back and got 20 feet down the road and something broke again, they said the new part was faulty. The third time something else went wrong and I had to take it back a fourth time. They did fix these things at no charge to me. The second time I went there, I had a dead batter and bad alternator, altogether it cost me almost 500 dollars. He said that it was the particular battery and we did call around and get prices, they were all similar. To make a long story short, they have always been very friendly and easy to deal with, they have given me a ride when I need it, but I still feel strange about the expense of my most recent transaction. I think I would go there again, but I would call around for other estimates first. read more

Took my car to them in July for an oil change, it hasn't been 12 months since then. but the owner keeps claiming 'ItS AlMoSt BeEn A YeAr.' The time they did my oil change they stripped out the drain pan threads on my car, and no one told me, they allowed my car to leave with a stripped oil pan. After a while I noticed my car was dropping a ton of oil and thought it blew a seal/gasket for how much oil was being spit out. I put the car aside until I could save up to get it fixed, my mechanic has it now and turns out they stripped the threads out of that pan and didn't say anything to me. The current manager is very aggressive and refuses to let me speak, my mom and I went in person and just like on the phone, he kept interrupting her like he was interrupting me. He then complained that they didn't even get a chance to look at the car, when I told him that car is legit around the corner from them, he refused to go look at it after saying that he would have drove to my house to look at it, so I fail to see why he would come to my house, but not take 10 minutes to go around the corner to the shop where the car is at. He wants to claim that the mechanic is telling me anything to get my business but isn't willing to even go check to see if what they are saying is true. Pathetic. He doesn't care. If he was willing to drive to see the car like he claims he would've been, then why is he refusing to go look at it now? Seems to me like he doesn't care at all This new manager does not care and is refusing to replace my drain pan because 'iTs AlmOsT BeEn A YeAr' when it's nowhere near a year since this happened. He would ask us questions and then interrupt us in the middle of the question. He would not allow us to get a word in about the car. They need their previous manager back; I've been going there for three years and never dealt with such a horrible and inconsiderate manager. I'm now out of 500+ for repairs to my vehicle for something that shop did, and the manager is refusing to fix, nor does he care. Had I not been putting my car in a location where I would have noticed the oil leaks and if it wasn't spitting oil at the rate, it was for me to notice, I would have lost my motor thanks to them stripping my drain pan and not telling me. The staff themselves are cool and nice people, especially the guy with the dreads. That bald guy that calls himself the director or some bs is a very horrible manager and does not care about the wellbeing of their customers cars. They need a new manager, one that actually cares and is willing to help their customers vs whoever the hell trained this guy. They need better management, that bald guy needs to go. They are the only ones who did oil changes on that car, but he refuses to own up to what his techs did to my car. Honestly pathetic, I get my car is old but treat it like it's your own. I could understand if I took it for an oil change somewhere else, had it done and then tried to fault them, but they were the last ones to do the oil change on that car and they are refusing to even go look at it even though the owner claimed that he would have drove out to me to look at it. Honestly feels like he was blowing smoke up my bum or else he would have gone to the location it's currently at to look at it. I won't be returning, and I highly suggest people look elsewhere for their oil changes unless they want a stripped out drain pan and a manager unwilling to right the wrongs of their shop. TERRIBLE OUTCOME! DO NOT GO THERE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! I WOULD GIVE IT zero STAR RATING IF I COULD. Summary of my experience at Brake Check: I went in for a brake job and the outcome was to replace the motor. Car Details: 2006 Scion XB 1st Weekend: I took my car in for a brake job on a weekend. They charged me approximately $500 for it. They recommended to replace the VALVE COVER GASKET because they noticed ONE leak. (THEY DID NOT MENTIONED ANY OTHER LEAKS) 2nd Weekend: I took it in for them to replace the VALVE COVER GASKET. They charged me approximately $300. After the VALVE COVER GASKET: I started hearing a crackling noise after some time. I checked my oil and noticed it was empty. I added oil and fill it to the correct level. I called Brake Check right away. They answer rude and mad when I mentioned that they had not fix the leak. 3rd Weekend: I took it in for them to fix the LEAK AGAIN. They found out that they had forgotten to put all the BOLTS on the VALVE COVER GASKET. They assumed their mistake and apologized. They mentioned that they could not find who did the job. I was not mad at this time. I understood that they made a mistake. 4th Weekend: After a week of driving my car, I noticed it was still LEAKING. I called Brake Check again. They asked me to bring it in for the 4TH time. This time they told me that THEY HAD FOUND A NEW LEAK COMING FROM MY CRANKSHAFT SEAL. They also added that I needed a NEW MOTOR or ENGINE REBUILT. I did not know what to tell them, I was i was shocked. I am an engineer and know enough about how cars work. QUOTE FOR NEW MOTOR: $8,200! I decided to take it to a real mechanic. The mechanic will charge me maximum $250 to fix the leak. I REALLY RECOMMEND NOT TO GO FOR MECHANIC WORK AT BRAKE CHECK. THEY MIGHT KNOW HOW TO DO BRAKES, WHICH I DOUBT IT, SINCE THEY NEVER GOT RID OF THE NOISE. Wow!!! I fully understand that you are in business to make money, but how about not flat out lying!!. I took my Granny's car up to this particular shop to get some replacement pads of which they should be free because she had been there before and now has liftime pads. The manager said that he couldn't install new pads because the car needed new rotors. The ones on the car had been wore down and couldn't be turn anymore. So I would have to pay for those in order to get the pads. Sounded fishy since my Granny really isn't allowed to drive anymore. I took the car to a well known Tire and mechanic shop. The manager said their was no problem with the rotors, they just need to be turned. This is how Brake Check does business.... read more

After reading some positive, and negative reviews I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and try it out, I figured it was a free inspection regardless. When I got there they were able to fit me in but while sitting in the waiting room a guy next to me told me to watch them cause they were "shady" he said he had brought his truck and when he left he had broken parts that weren't broken before. He said that was the only reason he was back and he wouldn't be returning, which made me a little weary. So the guy comes back and quotes me $650 for new brake pads and a bunch of other crap they tacked on, luckily I had my friend on the phone who pretty much told the guy he was crazy and I was taking my business elsewhere. I also needed a brake light replaced so I figured I can at least get that done here... nope! The guy said I was missing a part and didn't even know what the adapter was!! He called around asking for the "light thingy that attaches" needless to say I grabbed my keys and left. Best part was they make you fill out a survey on he pin pad and he had the nerve to ask why I pressed no on recommending their service to a friend! Ha! read more

I have been going to this Brake Check for over 8-10 years and it is the only place I use. They have a new manager, his name is Herbert Hawkins and their customer services levels are off the charts. His entire team greets you when you come in the door and they do great service. I look for the little things like this that make a big impact on my impression of a business and they are doing wonderful. ***Get the lifetime warranty on brakes and alignment...I love having to pay about $3.00 when I come in for an alignment and I paid for the lifetime alignment over 5 years ago on my vehicle. What to say...I am truly disappointed...when I brought my jetta for a brake change on my rear wheels I figured it would be routine and fast and smooth...well turns out that when I came back after the hour that was given to return to pick up the haven't even started...the excuse was the didn't have the right tool and it was on it's way...they told me to come back in an hour and it would be good or they would call If anything changed...no call so I show up only to be told that they wouldn't be able to turn one of the rotors because a bolt was seized...I had to see for my self...the car is new and has never had work done on it...first bake change right...I find the bolt stripped...the guy said that that side would be deducted from the bill...THAT IS NOT THE RIGHT WAY...I told them that it had to be replaced...the bolt won't come in till the next day...whatever...it's been a few hours now and I'm still waiting to get a rental car...OMG...a van just crashed int the building which had it's brakes "repaired"...it couldn't stop...I am really concerned for my car tommorrow....I will never come here again...maybe the van had other underlying problems but my car did not have stripped bolts...stick with the dealership...you get what you pay for... read more

Ovoid this place like the plague! It took 1.5 hours to get an oil change. They installed the wrong oil filter, I didn't get 2 blocks before the low oil pressure warning came on and the engine shut down. I limped back to the place going 2 mph and it took them another hour to admit they messed up, get the right filter, and replace it. Then it sat on the lift for another 30 minutes while the technician talked on the phone. I will never go back. read more

I went in for an oil change and I told them Please do not try to sell me anything other than what I am asking for, well they came back and tried to sell me over $3900. in repairs I did not need, yes I went and got a second opinion. Also they took off the cover to where the oil filter goes and did not put it back on and then hid the bolts, nuts screws under the front passenger seat floor mat. I went in to get my rotors replaced and afterwards, my car was shaking horribly! It took them almost two hours and they still didn't fix it completely. I then took my car to Discount Tires and they said my rear wheels where in danger of falling off completely because they (Brake Check) improperly installed my rear rotors. My husband took the car back and had to watch them to ensure they fixed them properly. I should've known they were an awful place by the Yelp reviews. One week ago I went into this facility and had some break work done on both my vehicles.. On yesterday Saturday March 21, on the was to a family function it almost cost my husband and my younger son their lives..The break callibor bolt came off while my husband was driving down the freeway..Needless to say it scared the holy crap out of me and the rest of the kids who were following them in a second vehicle. My husband and my son were driving 65-70mph on the freeway without any brakes.. When the callibor bolt came off, as well all know that doesn't give the vehicle any stopping power at all..I just thank GOD that no ONE was hurt/injured. Although the store fixed the problem at no cost to me, I personally wouldn't recommend that any one have any work done there, and that they would shop around for a much better deal. read more

Decided to try this place out at Christmas last year because I needed an alignment done and an oil change. Both were done and I was suckered into a great deal for a discount on four synthetic oil changes for the price of three if I purchased the coupons and I also paid for a lifetime warranty on alignments. I thought it was a great deal, but I wish I would have never done this because now I am forced to continue going to this place until my already paid for oil changes are finished. The first time I used my oil coupon I forgot to give it to them initially and just walked in saying I needed an oil change. They did the service for me and then I presented a coupon for a synthetic oil change and was told they put in regular oil. Okay, fine I forgot to mention I wanted synthetic and I did not give the coupon to you first. My mistake. But the oil change was no charge since I had the coupon. Move forward to the second time I go for an oil change and I present the coupon first and say I need a synthetic oil change. When it is time to pay I am charged $6.48 for the oil change. Why??? I was told they put in six quarts of oil (not sure if it is synthetic or not) and the coupon is for 5. Wait, what??? Why was I not charged for six the first time I brought my car in using these coupons? Why have I never been charged for 6 quarts of oil ever in the 6 years I have had this car??? Whatever, I will pay the extra money... so did they check my alignment? Oh yes, and I need one. Well why wasn't it fixed??? We figured you would do it when you bring your car in next week for further service (previously discussed). So you are telling me I have been waiting for my car to get a simple oil change for one and a half hours and this is all you did??? I was two hours late to work for a simple oil change??? I am driving out of town this weekend now on a bad alignment. Their customer service is extremely lacking! I desperately do not want to use their services anymore, but I still have two more oil change coupons left and since I already paid for them I want to use them.
