Hazelnut Cheesecake

This place should be way busier than it is! Always able to walk in and have a spot. Great for large parties and be able to have a conversation with your entire group. Such amazing food at a reasonable price and portions are shareable. Easily a great date night spot for under $100. 10/10 would recommend! :)

Nutella Cheesecake - happy ending!

Got a last minute reservation on a Saturday night. I looked at past reviews - there were some low reviews from 10 years ago that are no longer valid. We sampled a lot of different things on the menu and all were really good! I wish we had more people with us to try and sample more things, but I guess we will have to come back again. Shrimp toast, turnip cake, Humba, beef and couscous were all outstanding. And get this - when I was looking to choose a wine, Jason actually recommended the lowest price option (which was perfect). We finished with the Nutella cheesecake which was solid. Great place and we will be back.

- Did the Bouillabaisse Class - it was excellent and ever so much fun. This was my second class, the first being the Shrimp Malabar (also excellent), and I can't wait to try the Tikka Masala or so many of the others! Truly an intimate and hands-on experience, that I haven't found in other cooking class venues.

What a wonderful experience. The menu is unique and changes frequently. Farm fresh ingredients from local sources. The staff is so friendly and accommodating. Had some drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The wine selection is great too. The communal tables are actually quite nice.

I went to Braise for the first time last night. It was a Friday at 6PM- we had a reservation and were seated right away. My first impressions: I love the historic building the restaurant is in. I didn't see a parking lot but there was plenty of street parking. When I first walked in, I noticed the beautiful bar and warm atmosphere. The hostess was friendly. We sat upstairs and I just remember the lights seeming really bright. Our waitress was very friendly and soft spoken. She was knowledgeable about the menu. Our food was great. We shared a couple of appetizers and main entrees, along with the chocolate dome for dessert. The steamed pork buns were a hit with our table! My friend ordered the Biryani Chicken, which came with A LOT of rice. I ordered the Roasted Pork Loin. I thought it was good, I liked the creamy celery root puree it was served with. Regarding their menu, I love the farm to table concept and was pleased to hear they do their shopping locally. Their menu changes with the foods they get in daily. My only complaint is the available root vegetables in most of the dishes were potatoes. I was hoping for more of a variety. I'm looking forward to coming again in the spring/summer to see what options they have on the menu and to attend one of their cooking classes!

Braise is a very nice rustic farm to table from scratch place. Pretty small menu. We started with the charcuterie board and it was pretty tasty although I could have done without the chicken liver. Everything else on the board was delish. I had the Cod Curry as the main and it was quite nice. Tasty but not overpowering. The lady had the pork croquettes - I had one and it was delish. Really tasty. I had a mixed drink and it was tasty. Service was pretty helpful in explaining menu items. Would return.

My wife's little brother got married and rented out the entire upstairs area for the small(ish) reception. It is absolutely a gem! There were probably about 30 of us that tested the capabilities of two bartenders and a handful of waitstaff. They served so very professionally that it stood out amongst many recent experiences as exceptional. There is a rooftop garden area as a total bonus. The food was served family style, and was delicious! Great spot, highly recommend it!

This was a really nice dining experience in Milwaukee. My wife and I sat at a communal table (the wood top from a bowling alley) and it was still an intimate dinner but with lots of good energy from other diners. The food was really great. The pork dumplings are a must have. The Arancini were delicious. The beet salad was OK but I wouldn't order it again. It was mostly just greens with barely any of the tasty beers and feta that was the reason I ordered it. Entree was a pork shoulder over polenta. Rich but delicious! Everything ate lighter than I expected (a good thing as I was afraid it would be too heavy and rich) The service was impeccable. Out waiter gave a brilliant suggestion for a wine that was on point with the food

Our first experience with Braise was a takeout order during the pandemic, and We finally dined at the restaurant for the first time this week. We were a bit surprised that the restaurant was filled up quickly that evening even though it was in the middle of the week. There was only one server for the customers upstairs, but she seemed very professional and able to attend to the needs of every table quickly. Both of her two recommendations turned out to be very good. We ordered 4 appetizers plus a main dish to share, and the total quantity of food was significantly more than we could finish, with leftovers (two steamed dumplings and half of the main course) almost enough for another meal. The dishes that we liked most were the Steamed Pork Buns and the Almond Crusted Trout. The toasted pork cubes with scallion vinaigrette in the Pork Buns was very tasty. Almost every restaurant in the city has a dish with trout, but the Almond Crusted Trout at Braise stands out for its tasty and unusual flavor combinations. The prices of the dishes were also reasonable. So, we consider Braise to have a high quality-to-price ratio.

Cute small restaurant tucked in Bayview. The menu changes seasonally, but a few stoke items such as pork buns usually stay in the menu. It's fun to order several small plates and share. We shared 4 small plates among the 3 of us: Smoked chicken mole arepa, beef salad, pork buns, and mushroom tortellini. We were feeling quite full after the small dishes, so we decided to finish off with 2 desserts instead. We are happy with most the dishes. My favorite might be the pork buns. The prices for the small plates are also very reasonable. We sat and chatted for hours after the meal, the waiters came over to fill out our cups several times. It's a great place to enjoy a nice meal and spend some quality time with friends!

Braise is flannel wrapped in silk . I thought it was a fancy joint, cooking school and all, with pretensions to be more than it is. Wrong! Braise is down to earth, relaxed, Cream City true, and perfect for a weekday boozer with food. The difference? Braise's food is great, not good, I mean Chicago/NYC great. Their kitchen produced the best dishes I have had in Milwaukee since our return in May, and the prices are reasonable, bordering on inexpensive. Their P.R. Is too professional. Braise has more in common with Camino than Morel. Kyle and Alex, two Milwaukee dudes took care of us at the bar, which is large and accessible. Wine, beer and booze are integral to the Braise concept. Kyle served me two Mezcals, but I fell in love with one of them and the other bottle felt rejected. Sorry. Kyle knows his beer, booze and wine. The other patrons were all "down home" Milwaukee people, and we discussed music and all sorts of shit. Laughs were loud and proud. The kitchen produces creative and flavorful dishes. Milwaukee's Sanford, one of the city's finest restaurants, was the incubator for one of the proprietors of Braise, and that culinary wizardry is evident. The steamed pork buns and the barbecue pork are not to be missed. I adored the pork, and I'm Jewish. The dish tasted so good, it was worth the risk. I'll atone on Yom Kipper. Yet, the trout and risotto were almost as scrumptious. Portions are humongous, and we brought more than half home to enjoy another day. The only misstep, if there is one, was the decor does not meet my European modern ideal. But hey, that's me, and I'm odd. Go and enjoy Braise. It's one of Milwaukee's best restaurants. I woke up with an oink, because the barbecue pork was that good. "Oink Oink!"

We came to Braise for our friends' wedding rehearsal dinner and were absolutely blown away by this place. The food was amazing (you cannot pass on the steamed pork buns)! Service was great as well. All the servers and bartenders were attentive and made the night go by seamless. We were also able to enjoy their rooftop patio which was such a cool space. We can't wait to return to Braise the next time we're in Milwaukee

Awesome and creative deserts, Coconut lemongrass pannacotta, Lemon cake, Sweet Tamale.

Another hidden gem! Cute place on the edge of a neighborhood near shops and industry. Very friendly service, a bit pricey, but well worth it for creative and tasty gourmet food and cocktails. The house old fashioned's were excellent as were the other cocktails. Four of us ordered 2 entrees and numerous small plates to share, and deserts. Please the photos and descriptions. Did forget to photograph the Five spiced smoked chicken which was lightly smoked and delicious. Also had the bok choy salad. Highly recommend all we had. Great mix of flavors,

Great food, awesome atmosphere. Only downside was charged full price for a drink I didn't order as I didn't want it to go to waste.

The Odd Duck was where my friend and I grabbed dinner one night. Street parking. I didn't buy a lottery ticket but lucked out and found a spot across the street. Didn't have to do laps or pay. Always a good start when going out anywhere. Place was busy. No reservation. However, the luck continued as a table opened up in the bar area - window seating to boot. And though busy, service was attentive, friendly and great. Food was great! See pics. There wasn't a dish I didn't like and I can say that I'd definitely order the same line up again. Though I'd definitely like to try other menu items. It wasn't just about presentation - ingredients, flavors all just hit the spot. These are tapas size dishes so I could have eaten everything myself. Know that so you order accordingly. If you're looking for a cool, fun spot with good food and drinks, make a reservation and head over. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be a spot I'd regularly hang out at.

I can tell that there has been a lot of care and detail put into the experience here and I can really appreciate that.

We got the truffle Potato Skins it was more like chips but softer than chips with a truffle oil and parm. This didn't have a super truffle flavor in my opinion but still good. The Gnocchi d'Autunno we got was like a nice hug it was such a warm dish in the way you want a warm comfort meal on a cold day. The butter chicken and Argentina style beef we also tried I liked the butter chicken more just because I wish the beef had more chimichurri. I definitely will take friends in the future. There's couches and you lounge for a bit. Then you get the menu and have to reread it. It's...unusual. Latin meets soul food. Latin. Meets. Soul food. Oh and also, all the drinks come in snifter glasses. ???? Okay, so I'm not usually a fan of super specific, hipstery themes like this. But I decided to give Snifters a chance. And I'll admit, I liked what they had to offer. The signature dish seems to be the empanadas. These empanadas, however, are filled with unusual ingredients. We ended up getting The Manchester (basically mac and cheese stuffed in an empanada. Decent, but confusing to the senses), The Appalachia (pulled pork sandwich empanada. Solidly good), and The Cream City Standard (beans and potatoes. Easily my favorite, most similar to a traditional empanada). Overall, the empanadas were tasty, despite their oddness! We then moved on to an entree option. I went with Los Camarones, which were giant breaded shrimp served on top of cornbread. The shrimp was excellent. Very flavorful and delicious. The dish as a whole, I thought, lacked a sauce on top. It was a bit dry overall. My friend got the chicken and waffles, which was delightfully served with the maple syrup in a snifter glass. She was a big fan, so it must have been delicious. Overall, I'm surprised how much I enjoyed Snifters. I had hesitations, but the food was unique and flavorful. My big issue: the service was painfully slow. As in, I had to get up and find our server myself, which automatically knocks one star off in my books. There was only one other couple in the whole restaurant.
