I almost don't want to write this review so I can gatekeep this restaurant. I went on a recommendation and I will be coming back every week. I got the 4 for $20 grab and go meals- guys, everything I got was excellent. Some lady next to me on a bench asked where I got my wrap from just yesterday. The presentation is great and the flavor is even better. Truly good food, they list the macros on some (if you're into that/dieting), good variety, and the price is amazing.

First things first: This may be the nicest backyard in Brooklyn. Certainly, the most slept on. It's wild how it's decked out with tables, fans, couches, heaters, outlets...it's shaded, but with so much beautiful natural light. There are people eating inside where it's basically a deli, when this gorgeous patio exists out back. I hope I don't regret telling you all this, but check it out. Secondly, the food is healthy-ish, but actually pretty tasty, and affordable. In fact, the meal preps are downright cheap. 4 for $20 for wraps and salads and such? Not sure where else you can get a meal for $5 in this neighborhood. We've had smoothies and wraps and sandwiches and bowls...all good, the portions are very solid, and some of the things, like the turkey melt, are actually straight delicious. They use actual grilled chicken breast on the salads and bowls, and it tastes good (except that one time it was underseasoned). The staff has been pretty cool too; one of the guys split a smoothie for us so I didn't contract whatever plague my kids had that week, and I've never had an issue with anyone. If I have any issue with the place at all, it's just the name, which should probably have been Best Fucking Backyard in Downtown Brooklyn. But that may not fly with some people. Squares.

This place is so cute. You wouldn't know it from the outside that it has such a cute yard. This was my first time here but definitely not my last. I ordered their chicken bowl special and it was yummy. It was filled with pineapple, chicken, squash, quinoa and more. I noticed they had a meal prep program where you get 4 items for $20. I picked up additional food for rest of the week. I think I will be doing this often. I spend so much money weekly on food delivery and this food is better on my taste buds and pockets. The service was quick and love being in such a cute place with great music.

    Receipt from terrible Greek bowl

I wrote a review for their other spot accidentally very soon after eating as it was honestly the worst meal I've had in years. My mistake/moving the rest of the review to the proper location. Maybe the one in Bed-stuy is better Using their weird "functionable" kiosk I went with the Greek bowl with roasted eggplant, roasted pepper, grape tomatoes, black olives, chickpea croutons, and medium amount of acai balsamic vinaigrette. My edits were to remove the red onion and regrettably to add jackfruit with my base being vegetable noodles (which turned out to be slivers of vegetables.) No one said anything and the bowl was made. I waited for a bit and after not hearing anything, I went to the takeaway counter where my bowl was there. The cashier noticed and I said that bowl was mine and she handed it over with the bowl being incredibly hot. I asked for it to go as I couldn't carry it from the heat so it was wrapped with foil and put in a bag. After getting back, I noticed an odd smell from the bag (which reminded me of your average vegan hot food area; no offense to vegans,) and I opened it up noticing that their biodegradable bowl was already well degrading from the sheer amount of heat. Everything was very red (presumably from the vinaigrette) and I tried it. The jackfruit was a mushy mess and just like everything else; it tasted like it had been steamed for 30 hours in a salt bath. The only thing good inside was the chickpea croutons (which I assume are the same brand others use) which is probably since they are hard enough that the salad makers there can't butcher it. Everything tasted purely of salt and it was impossible to finish and I threw it away after eating just a little bit. 0.5. Mostly for the cheapish prices but never again. I think the smartest idea for me would be to avoid this place. Just go up the block to Sweetgreen. You pay more but the food is actually good or if you want more local, go to your average good deli and get a chopped salad. Other notes: 1. By the kiosk being "functionable," I mean you have to go through 50,000 things to get to the end with it not asking about drinks. 2. I understand the obsession of health nuts with acai as it tastes good in smoothies and bowls but the dressing her tastes of nothing but salt. 3. A good solid A on the drink selection and prices. 4. A least the free bread was decent.

Honestly, I'm not even a review person. I'm also rarely try new places because I hate wasting my money but this place is a blessing. It's so hard finding affordable healthy food. And it's DELICIOUS. Too good I'm definitely ordering again. Thank you!

I'm a personal trainer in the area and Brainfood is my go to spot for the days I don't feel like meal-prepping. The options are protein packed, affordable, and taste great. The staff is awesome. They know my name and always greet me with a smile. The green wall and backyard seating area's create a really good sit down lunch spot.

There's a couple of tables in a small store. Above the register there's a menu board resembling a train departures board, cycling through the options (it looks neat, but the printed out menu on your right is a lot more practical). There's a cooler with drinks and salads as you enter on the right. The sandwiches, however, are something special. On my first visit I went with something familiar, the Mean Streets (their Italian sandwich). The bread itself is fantastic (locally baked), and the toppings delicious as well (if I recall correctly the dressings are house made). Pleasantly, they also give you a paper plate with your order, which is a nice touch compared to eating off a wrapper. I enjoyed the first sandwich so much I came back the next day to try the No Sleep Til Gravesend. The sandwich is essentially a hot roast beef sandwich, with a jus on the sandwich reminiscent of a French Dip. Perfect on a cold, rainy day. Overall, 1 of 1 has great (and mostly house made) ingredients and great execution. There's a level of creativity on the menu that you rarely see elsewhere in the city. 1 of 1 is among the best sandwich shops in the city, and a very welcome addition to the area.

When the hype got large enough, the owner decided to start a pizzeria and the rest is not history. This is one of the more worthwhile TGTG orders to me. Expensive though, about $55 dollars for a vegan 18-inch Margherita pie with 3 toppings. Was it worth it for the experience? Yes. Would I recommend to someone who wanted to try it at least once for a good dairy-free pizza? Absolutely, I couldn't even tell this was vegan cheese. Would I get it again? Maybe (?) once in a while as a treat with price being the only barrier. Service 5/5: This was great. I came here the other day to inquire about their vegan pizza and just wanted to try a slice. The person found his manager to talk to me about this. They were super friendly and explained to me the situation. This location only sold vegan options in full pies and their other DOP Fast Life location does sell vegan slices, but they didn't try to push me to buy. I came back today and the staff today were also very welcoming. Ambiance 5/5: Rustic red brick interior with warm lighting. It was definitely bustling on a Friday night. Food 5/5: Delicious pizza. I do regret that I ate it cold after driving 30 minutes to pick it up so I did not get the full experience. But the crust was still crunchy. I do wish the toppings were a little heavier but the tomato chunks in the sauce tasted very fresh. A very classic New York style pizza and I couldn't even tell it wasn't real cheese. Vegan garlic knots were great too.
