I decided to stop in here when my mom said they were wonderful in getting her an appraisal for her wedding bands. So, I decided to stop in and get mine done too, for insurance purposes. Depending on how busy they are, they can do this same day or in just a few days. It's done in house and NOT sent out. The store itself is very neat and clean. Cameras posted at various spots within the store for added security. As for selection, please keep in mind that they are a smallish shop and will not have the HUGE selection that commercial stores, like KAY or JBRobinson, have, but they do have some really nice things. I will be going back for future needs!

Also, wore the rhodium of completely and didn't even redip it before he gave it to me. Very poor workmanship. Follow up 1 day later. There was a sharp nick in the gold under where he added the tip. Now the diamond above that is gone. Again, this is the worst place you can take your jewelry to.

The absolute best in bling! There are so many good things to…read moresay about Lee, the owner, and his staff: Jeannette, Curtis, John and Gail, and the rest of the gang. When you first walk in the door, you don't get that creepy feeling that you are being sized up for how much money you have, and how much blood that they can get out of a stone. I have always found that everyone there is as eager to please as a puppy dog, and just as friendly, (but more well-mannered! LOL!) I think that it is an important distinction that the sales staff DOES NOT work on commission. It has been my experience that the foresight of Lee in this regard liberates his people to take great care in satisfying the client, whether they want a $50 pair of earrings, or a $10,000 ring. I have purchased about 20 pieces at Sam's Emporium, and they can count on my continued custom. Keep up the great work ladies and gentlemen!

Recently we visited Squirrel City Jewelers, a fantastic small business in downtown Kent. ( I live…read morein California, but my Fiancé went to Kent State) I needed to have my engagement ring and wedding band prongs checked and re-plated. My first experience with the shop, I was gifted a custom necklace by my fiancé, made by the owner, Michael, over a year ago. Michael's attention to detail and craftsmanship is incredible. He was given free rein to design the necklace, using "hummingbird" as the inspiration. His vision, personal touches, and artistic vision made the piece truly stunning. Not only did Michael revive my engagement ring back to brand new sparkle, I was obsessed with these adorable skull pearl earrings (I found out also made by Michael). The whole team at Squirrel City Jewelers are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their work. If you're looking for unique, personalised, high quality jewelry- that highlights independent artisans Squirrel City Jewellery is the spot. They offer a unique range of handcrafted one of a kind pieces, inspiring for any style. I will wait until I travel back to Kent to have any jewellery repair or add to my unique collection. Definitely will not be buying from any chain stores anymore- after my experience here. Thanks SCJ!

My partner and I brought in two rings to be resized. We were told it would take about three weeks…read moreand that we'd be contacted when everything was ready. We never received a call, so I called on February 28, the day we planned to pick them up. I was then told the job wasn't finished because of the engraving inside my partner's ring--even though he had clearly said from the beginning that it was fine if the engraving disappeared during resizing. After we repeated that it was fine, we were suddenly told to come in within a few hours. The other ring was mine, and it still didn't fit properly. That day, my partner asked for a very small adjustment--between a size 5 and 5.5 (around 5.25)--because 5.5 was loose and 5 was too tight. The tall female staff member said finger size can change with the weather. I understand that, but I was genuinely worried it could slip off when washing my hands. She told us to come back on Wednesday. When I returned on Wednesday, it honestly didn't feel resized. When I asked about it, the male staff member sighed and told me to "wear it for a week and come back if it still feels loose." He also said he could resize it down by a quarter size and wouldn't charge me for it. That left me even more confused and frustrated--if it could be adjusted that quickly, I don't understand why I was told to wait until Wednesday in the first place. Overall, the communication was poor and the service felt dismissive.

As both a bride and a wedding industry professional, this is completely unacceptable and Kay's employees should know better before they post something that could 100% ruin the surprise of a proposal.

My dude and I make fun of Jared's on a pretty regular basis. The commercials are just so annoying…read moreand corny that it is hard to resist. We drove down to Akron to go a specific couple of jewelry stores, but discovered that they were all closed for the day by 4. We gave Jared's a call to see if they were open and they were, so we figured it wouldn't hurt to take a look and know their prices so that we could price compare later. We had no intentions of buying a ring at a major chain. Upon entering the store, we were immediately greeted and set up with a sales associate who was very friendly and not pushy at all. I knew exactly what I wanted, so we listened to her presentation on the 4 C's, the different guarantees that Jared offers, and about the history of that particular store being the first ever Jared's. I told her what I wanted which was an emerald cut diamond set in a white gold band with tapered baguettes and double claw prongs. Her face lit up and she told us she had to double check something. She returned moments later with the exact setting that I wanted and it was on clearance for 75% off! We knew right then that we would be buying the setting that day, since the price was so great, but still planned on buying a diamond elsewhere later. We still wanted to take a look at the loose diamonds while in the store and I was very impressed with their selection of emerald cuts, as well as the paperwork provided for each stone. In addition, the pricing was VERY fair considering that Jared is a chain and we expected the pricing to be kind of ridiculous. We ended up purchasing a stone that night at the store as well. Jared offers a lifetime guarantee that includes free sizing and adjustments for life and as long as you bring your ring back every 6 months to be inspected, they will replace the center stone no questions asked if it ever falls out and is lost. The other stores that we were considering didn't offer the same guarantees. And with me being as disaster prone as I am, I figured that they would probably come in handy. We came back a few months later and bought my wedding band here as well. The customer service was great and we were very happy over all. I've had my ring resized once and I was able to drop it off for two hours and then come back and get it the same afternoon, which was lovely!

Nick did a great job buying my silver coin collection worth about $20K…read more Since there were so many coins he recommended me leaving the collection with him over the weekend so he could inventory it. Everything seemed reasonable so I proceeded forward. He wrote me a check and kept the silver and the transaction was complete. It couldn't have been any easier. His shop was modern, clean and well organized. He was professional and polite through the entire process. In all a very positive experience and I recommend his service.
