Great service, needed a watch battery, and they had it and installed it. Great to find a local vendor that is professional and expedient.

-The Crown Jewel Of Jewelry Stores-…read more This family owned jewelry store has it all. From a clean environment, a wide selection of jewelry, and a hospitable staff. You can tell that the employees here are passionate about their job and are more than willing to help you find a piece of jewelry that suites your needs. I came in here looking to buy an engagement ring for my now fiance. Like many young men, I had no idea what I was doing, but was quickly attended to by Donny Basch. He walked me through some of their display rings and was happy to answer any question (big or small) that I had. After a few moments browsing the selection, I inquired about getting a ring designed, as I had a few odd requests for the diamond and ring style. He then told me that they are able to make custom rings, designed to my fiance's tastes. After I had let him know a brief summary of what I was looking for, he told me that he would get back to me with some examples and we could refine the ring to be exactly what I wanted. Over the next several weeks, we spoke back and forth in order to finalize what I wanted. I did a final check-in with him in order to ensure that I'd receive the exact ring that I was picturing (a slightly obscure styled ring with a coffin cut, black diamond). Donny let me know a time that would be suitable to come in and get the ring, and when I arrived, it was ready and exactly what I had wanted. As for the payment, he stuck to the budget I had given him, so there was no surprises when it came to price. He even threw in a bottle of champagne for celebration. I had planned to get a black ring box, but Don Basch only had white and brown ring boxes, so he looked up a nearby store and gave me the SKU of a black ring box (something that he didn't need to do, but was much appreciated). This business has amazing customer service. I never felt pressured into something I couldn't pay for, or rushed through any process. The staff offered me something to drink during every visit. I honestly cannot say any bad things about the entire experience I had at Don Basch Jewelers. I highly recommend that you head to this location if you're looking for a ring, bracelet, necklace, watch, or anything else.

TLDR: Do not trust them for watch repair!…read more A watch that my wife bought for me stopped working, so I brought it here for a battery change. They tried to change the battery, but the watch still wouldn't work... they told me that the watch was "totaled" and beyond repair. They were the only people to have ever opened the back of this watch. I took it up to Chester's in Parma, and he immediately asked if someone else had worked on the watch before. He showed me that "whoever" tried to change the battery had ripped out a few components, actually showing me what the missing pieces were... Don Basch broke my watch, then claimed it was unfixable. Chester fixed my watch same-day, it's working again! Not giving 1 star because the storefront is nice and clean, people are friendly, and they did a good job cleaning my wife's wedding ring.

If I wasn't on a time crunch I would've turned around and walked out of this store. Needless to say I'll never go back and shop here again. As I'm buying the ring, a different sales girl is pushing necklaces on me for Valentine's Day!! I said, let's get through Christmas first. Stay away from the Kent Kay Jewelers. My partner and I brought in two rings to be resized. We were told it would take about three weeks…read moreand that we'd be contacted when everything was ready. We never received a call, so I called on February 28, the day we planned to pick them up. I was then told the job wasn't finished because of the engraving inside my partner's ring--even though he had clearly said from the beginning that it was fine if the engraving disappeared during resizing. After we repeated that it was fine, we were suddenly told to come in within a few hours. The other ring was mine, and it still didn't fit properly. That day, my partner asked for a very small adjustment--between a size 5 and 5.5 (around 5.25)--because 5.5 was loose and 5 was too tight. The tall female staff member said finger size can change with the weather. I understand that, but I was genuinely worried it could slip off when washing my hands. She told us to come back on Wednesday. When I returned on Wednesday, it honestly didn't feel resized. When I asked about it, the male staff member sighed and told me to "wear it for a week and come back if it still feels loose." He also said he could resize it down by a quarter size and wouldn't charge me for it. That left me even more confused and frustrated--if it could be adjusted that quickly, I don't understand why I was told to wait until Wednesday in the first place. Overall, the communication was poor and the service felt dismissive.

( I live…read morein California, but my Fiancé went to Kent State) I needed to have my engagement ring and wedding band prongs checked and re-plated. My first experience with the shop, I was gifted a custom necklace by my fiancé, made by the owner, Michael, over a year ago. Michael's attention to detail and craftsmanship is incredible. He was given free rein to design the necklace, using "hummingbird" as the inspiration. His vision, personal touches, and artistic vision made the piece truly stunning. Not only did Michael revive my engagement ring back to brand new sparkle, I was obsessed with these adorable skull pearl earrings (I found out also made by Michael). The whole team at Squirrel City Jewelers are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about their work. If you're looking for unique, personalised, high quality jewelry- that highlights independent artisans Squirrel City Jewellery is the spot. They offer a unique range of handcrafted one of a kind pieces, inspiring for any style. I will wait until I travel back to Kent to have any jewellery repair or add to my unique collection. Definitely will not be buying from any chain stores anymore- after my experience here. Thanks SCJ!

Allow me to clarify my rating; Two stars for customer…read moreservice skills, at best. 2.5 stars for the actual repair work experienced. Clarification; our mantle clock decided "nada mas" one day. Found this shop online, checked out the hours and took it there for a "look see." While this is a quality clock, it is not an antique or heirloom, so our interest was in an evaluation , followed by a phone call with an estimate, to give us the facts prior to green-lighting the repair. This place is in the "Front St mall" area of the Falls, meaning, be prepared for some hoofing if you are a first timer. I parked and hoofed it into the shop, where there were a number of antiquities and curiosities, including the cigarette puffing owner who was not-so-deftly trying to put the watch mechanism back in the case for a customer he was attending. There were three other customers excluding the writer who were trolling the clogged display area leisurely looking at the available wares, and then there was me. I stood holding the clock for perhaps ten minutes while the owner labored at his craft for the guy whose watch needed a new battery, while I stood, becoming progressively more uncomfortable and glancing around unsuccessfully trying to find an empty spot on the counter-top, and later anywhere, to place the clock while my patience and his skill were locked in a struggle to the death. During this time, My presence and predicament both went unacknowledged, and by default unaddressed by the shopkeeper. I'm thinking when there is a stained glass sign over the entry door which boldly proclaims "Clock Repair", that one would have a spot for folks to set down there clock while standing in queue. But I'm ust a GOM, grumpy old man.) In most similar circumstances, I am the poster-boy for patience. However everyone reading this knows the drill here! Even without ever having been in a clock repair shop. One walks in with clock in-hand, knowing that it will not be fixed while waiting, and that a ticket will be filled out identifying the issue, the name, the phone number, and a spot for comments and the tag will come with a tear-off receipt to prove that indeed you left something there. One knows that the tag information completion will largely fall on the owner of the clock, following which, one will scoot out the door. Had the shop owner been a bit more adept at the watch assembly process, I would probably have just waited things out; but the overpowering stench of cigarette smoke was even more annoying than his dexterity level at the task at hand, and I had lost most of the feeling in my arms, so I just excused myself and asked for the tag so I could set the clock on the floor, fill out the tag and, hopefully get out of there before the nausea from the smell bore fruit. I got the tag, filled it out, (he had a difficult time finding a spot for me to put down the 2' square tag on the counter-top!), instructing on the tag that a call with a cost estimate be made prior to making any repair. And tore off my receipt. Hey this is the age of throw away everything, 'cause there is a third world country somewhere that can build a new one cheaper than we can repair an old one! If it can be true of refrigerators, surely it can be true of clocks! So I felt this was a very reasonable request. Sure enough when the phone call came, he left a message stating the work had been done and to come pick up the clock. So much for my informed consumerism! It turned out all the clock needed was cleaned and oiled, so for a crisp new $100 bill, the gent air-cleaned and oiled my clock at which point it began ticking again. Not exactly the value of the decade, but shy of highway robbery. Next time I'll buy a can of air for $5, and some clock oil for another $5 and spend the $90 savings on a nice dinner out with my wife. Hopefully if that produces nausea it will be from some bad clams, and not the stench of my surroundings! When I returned to pick up the clock, he had a difficult time finding it in his 500 square-foot shop, and asked if he had called me stating the work was complete? Call me a stickler for organization, (and pay no attention whatsoever to the loud cackling noises coming from my wife stage left), but when the clock repair guy doesn't know where he puts completed work vs.the stuff he is selling, I become ever so slightly disquieted. Perhaps during the down hours at the shop, a little organization is in order? And hey, while you're at it a HEPA air cleaner can be had for almost exactly what you charged me for cleaning and oiling my clock, how about investing in one? That and a can of Glade, and perhaps the 2/3rd:s of us that DON"T smoke will be able to stay in your shop long enough to make a purchase without diving outside for air every three minutes!
