I had never been in a pawn shop, but one day my girlfriend and I decided to see what it was all about. Now this was around 2002, so I don't know if the same people work there or not. But I talked them into letting me go through a box of gold, white and yellow, that they were just going to get rid of. I ended up buying 2 little bands, very nice, just what I was looking for. And they only charged $10 a piece for them. I felt like I got a good deal and I have always wanted to go back, just never had the chance, or extra money since then. (I still wear them, almost daily) I'm thinking about taking in a few rings I don't wear anymore, just to see how much they would give me for them. My engagement ring is unique (and amazing!) so finding the right wedding band was key. I came here from the advice of fellow Yelpers! I AM SO GLAD I DID! We started out "looking" and left "buying"! I think the salesperson is key here. We had Curtis and I am not sure if the outcome would have been as favorable had we had someone else. I think I am a difficult customer with high expectations. If I had to sum this place up, I'd say: Go here before any other mall jewelry store, PLEASE. My fiance originally bought my engagement ring at Kays in Aurora. I adore my ring, but it did not come with a band. The style is more ornate/antique so finding something was becoming a chore. We spent many hours between the mall jewelry places only to leave frustrated and our wallets very scared. At one point, Kays told us it would cost us 3K to get a band custom made and we were even providing all of the diamonds. WHAT?? Add in facebook. I asked for some recommendations for places to check out and Sam's came up more than once. At first I wasn't too sure because let's be honest, from the outside, it looks like a pawn shop. BUT, because i would support local business any day, I figured at this point, we have nothing to lose. Going in, I originally just needed a band but let it be known, if a band could not be found, I did have my grandmothers wedding rings and I could use those. They showed me all my options, prices, etc. They were not pushy this entire time and really made the experience memorable for us. I would say, it soon became one of my favorite wedding activities so far. In the end, I ended up using my grandmothers ring (who they cleaned and did a rhodium finish too) and I bought a new band to match it. I am in love with it and am so excited to wear it. My fiancé and I shopped at local franchise diamond sellers in our area before stopping into Sam's Emporium based off of a friend's recommendation. The first time we visited, we were thrown off by the buildings exterior and the estate jewelry in the front cabinets. However, we went to the back and found their engagement and wedding section and were pleasantly surprised by the selection. We worked with Curtis, a GIA certified gemologist who went above and beyond to help make our diamond-buying experience as stress-free and exciting as possible. After realizing the settings in their case weren't quite what I wanted, Curtis introduced us to Eduardo and the two men worked together to help us design my engagement ring. I was nervous about the design process, but Eduardo and Curtis were very patient and spent quality time over 3 or 4 visits to calm my concerns and make sure they had every detail of my engagement ring correct. Curtis pulled several loose diamonds, carefully explaining and comparing the characteristics of each to help us choose the right diamond for us. Even after the purchase was complete, they appraised the ring in-house and Curtis reviewed every detail of the appraisal with my fiancé when he picked up the ring. We also used Curtis' recommendation for insuring my ring with Steve Conzaman in Akron. Steve also went above and beyond, not only insuring the ring at a great price, but saving us on renter's insurance too. All in all, our experience with Sam's could not have been better. I could not be happier with my ring!! It is exactly how I envisioned and I look forward to working with Sam's to design our wedding bands. The absolute best in bling! There are so many good things to say about Lee, the owner, and his staff: Jeannette, Curtis, John and Gail, and the rest of the gang. When you first walk in the door, you don't get that creepy feeling that you are being sized up for how much money you have, and how much blood that they can get out of a stone. I have always found that everyone there is as eager to please as a puppy dog, and just as friendly, (but more well-mannered! LOL!) I think that it is an important distinction that the sales staff DOES NOT work on commission. It has been my experience that the foresight of Lee in this regard liberates his people to take great care in satisfying the client, whether they want a $50 pair of earrings, or a $10,000 ring. I created an account just to share the great experience I had buying an engagement ring at Sam's. I was back home visiting my family in December and needed to find a ring, stone and have it finished before my girlfriend (now fiancée) arrived from California. I had called a variety of stores in the Canton and Akron area and Sam's (along with several others) indicated that having a ring ready in less then a week would be possible. I worked with Curtis each step of the way and he was a great help. As I began looking at rings with my ring advisor/father Curtis brought us water and coffee. Curtis allowed me to pick a variety of rings for comparison and offered some suggestions. He did not apply any pressure at all. We discussed my price range and he never deviated from it. Once I had selected the ring he brought out some diamonds to take a look at. His first choice blew me away. It was a fantastic stone and was the perfect size for the ring. Curtis had selected the stone from the diamond seller who visited the Sam's so he was able to provide additional insight into his history. Before saying purchasing the ring I felt the need to visit additional stores. I returned to Sam's the same evening after visiting additional jewelers. At no other place did I get the service Sam's provided or the value. The ring I got at Sam's was exactly the style I wanted for my fiancée and the stone was more than I thought I could afford. The cost of what I considered the perfect ring at Sam's was over $1000 less then lesser rings and stones at other stores. The icing on the cake was that they were able to have my ring ready for pick-up in 3 days. It could have been sooner if I had required it. The ring came with an appraisal from Sam's which helped speed up the process of insuring the ring. I highly recommend Sam's to anyone looking to buy an engagement ring. I am hoping my fiancée and I will be back visiting my family soon so we can pick out our wedding bands at Sam's (and also have her ring cleaned because they provide free cleaning and maintenance on the rings they sell). read more

Sams is great when you want to buy something but when it comes to customer service beyond the sale they fail. If you are going to buy an engagement ring here make sure she says yes before you buy, otherwise you are stuck with the ring because it's their "policy" to not return anything sold at their store. They will buy it back though for 1/3 of what you paid them for it. read more

Great sales people, and an overall good deal on the ring. The only thing I'm hesitant about giving full stars is the fact that weight was taken out of my fiancé's ring when it was resized. From my understanding if a ring is resized they should be able to transfer the rest of the (gold) into the shank of the ring. That didn't happen so I'm a little salty about that. Outside of this, I felt the service was outstanding, the selection was there, and ultimately found a gorgeous ring at a great price. If what I said is important to you, ask to retain gold in the ring by having it transferred to the shank of the ring. read more

I had my engagement ring sized down here, and they had it done by the promised date, and the ring looks gorgeous--all for a very affordable price! Though I haven't purchased a wedding band yet, they have been really wonderful about showing me rings within my price range. They even went above and beyond to look for a ring to match the decorative engraving on my antique engagement ring. Nice jewelry. I would NOT recommend them for engagement rings, since they have no return policy. You'd be better of at a major retail jeweler who can offer the 30 days money back. If you get engaged and should something fall through in that first 30 days, at least with other jewelers you are not stuck with the ring and a hefty bill. Sad since you can even return some cars nowadays in the first few weeks. read more
