Walked in restaurant and had to summon someone to wait on us. We were the only 4 in restaurant besides 2 other people. Food wasn't that great, I got indigestion. Order took forever. Besides being overpriced, they tried to rip us off. My friend paid for everything and she said the total for the 4 was $99. There was no way it should have cost that much. 'Some' of the folks working at this establishment are kind and conscientious! HOWEVER- after a long wait (approx 25 minutes) our food arrived. My wife and I shared a plate of steak fingers -terrible- were cooked frozen and were mush inside! I on the other hand had one bite of a side order of pinto beans. After taking that one bite I discarded the rest of the portion In less than one hour I started having severe stomach cramps (my wife did not). I had FOOD POISONING. We couldn't resist the sign saying "Best Catfish in the Nation" on the front of the building so we stopped for dinner on our way home to Austin. We ordered a hamburger and a catfish plate. While we waited for our food we discussed the bottles of tartar sauce and ranch dressing that were out on all of the tables. How can you leave condiments at room temperature like that? That should have been our first clue. I am 100% positive that what we were served was NOT catfish. Catfish is one of my favorite foods and this was certainly not catfish. The flavor was off, it was very white and rubbery- not catfish. The burger was served plain with a topping bar for all of the fixins. It was ok, but nothing I couldn't get elsewhere. We came to the conclusion that if they were leaving cold condiments at room temperature all day, what else was going on where we couldn't see it. not that one should ever trust the sign that says "best catfish in texas" or "best burger in texas" especially when the citation is from the colorado sun... but it was late & there wasn't much else around. long story short, i couldnt finish my catfish because of the "fishy" flavor and the breading which left much to be desired for. the "ambiance" is exactly what you would expect from brady. the steak fingers were about have the size of a normal chicken fry. dont do it...just pass on by.... read more

We were driving in from San Antonio and starving. We saw the sign "BEST CATFISH IN THE NATION - DENVER POST" So we made a U-turn and went back. My husband and I ordered ALL YOU CAN EAT CATFISH, my oldest daughter ordered HOMEMADE CHICKEN STRIPS and my other daughter ordered the plain CATFISH MEAL. While waiting on our order one of the highchairs that one of our twin daughters were sitting in broke and the other was filthy. I noticed the tartar sauce had been left out on the table. The restaurant was clean, the bathroom was clean. But, when we drove up we did notice A LOT of cats..... that should of been our first clue... duh! They brought our meal out the first thing I noticed was how warm the COLD slaw and tartar sauce was.... really?? Then we started looking at our fish thinking out loud "This is not catfish". I took a bite of the pinto beans, (CANNED) and the only thing on the CATFISH plate that wasn't frozen or out of a can was the hush puppies. My oldest daughter works and has worked as a waitress in a restaurant for 6 years and said the chicken strip were NOT "HOMEMADE CHICKEN STRIPS" as stated on the menu, they were frozen. Needless to say we will NEVER go back to this restaurant again. PLEASE DON'T LET their sign or anyone elses sign mislead you, ASK questions. We paid $51.14 for CRAP!! SO we threw it in the trash. As we were walking out the door we noticed cats everywhere.... they had the door propped open with a rock and a cat was going in and out of the restaurants kitchen.. GROSSSS, HEALTH HAZARD! Third time in the last 8 months that a group of 3 of us from Austin and Abilene converged at the midpoint in Brady. Third time we ate at Brady's restaurant. Consistently delicious burgers, huge, seasoned without being briny with salt. Today one had burger plate, one had chicken strips basket and I had the catfish plate. Both friends were very pleased with their selections. I had 4 very long strips of catfish coated in a thin crust of cornmeal, nicely seasoned, crunchy on the outside, nice, snowy white, clean tasting fish inside, moist and sweet, no overcooking, no thick coating. Pinto beans were nicely smoky, cole slaw was great and I got a nice, very large portion, hushpuppies were blistering hot, right out of the fryer but NOT greasy. Good fries, fresh cut, hot and nicelt seasoned but not overly so. The young man who waited on us was polite, friendly and personable,.answered my questions about the catfish and cooked everything perfectly. He offered us cups of tea to go .Cleaned off the table as soon as we went to the door. No flies noted. The bathroom was extremely clean, as were the floors, tables, countertop and condiments bar. Another positive dining experience which makes us want to return. I must have more of the catfish. It was worth the 125 mile drive one way even if I hadn't been meeting friends. I have eaten here many times. I have always overlooked the cleanliness issue because the food was very good. Today, I ordered lunch to go. When I got about halfway through my little cup of corn, I found a buttered fly. Yum. So, I went up there. The manager was rude to me before I even got to the counter. She was checking out other customers and I had no intent of making of a scene. So, when she asked me what the problem was, I politely said I would wait my turn. She asked twice more and got the same response. When it was my turn, I simply opened the container and showed her the bug. She promptly took the little bowl and threw it in the trash. She then told me there was nothing she could do because I had already eaten some of it. I was obviously shocked. I asked how she would react in the same situation. Nothing. Things got heated from there. Thankfully, a gentleman who works there came over to try to resolve the situation. She went to the back to call the owner. He was extremely nice and tried to accommodate me. The manager came back and said she would give me half off. At this point, I said forget it. I didn't want anything from them and would not be back. The guy then got on the phone with the owner. Turns out, that manager had said that I had eaten ALL of my food and then brought in a fly. He made it very clear that was not even close to the truth. The manager then completely changed her obnoxious tone. She said that since she wanted me to be happy, she was going to refund my entire check. Gee, thanks. Serious props to the helpful guy.
