Can't believe it's taken me THIS long to write a review but it's long OVERDUE. First time I had…read moretheir food was in July 2025 and it has stood the test of time having been the place I've eaten at the most in Aberdeen. Not only is the falafel crispy and well seasoned, spanakopita flaky and yummy, super combo gyro divine but they are an entirely family-run business. Although I usually order for takeout, the service is quick (orders are ready in 25 minutes) and organized. You'll see their son and daughter working the register or cooking in the back passing down the family tradition. Honestly the greatest Greek food I've had in a very long time! Evangelo and his wife Georgia have been in business for over 20 years. A testament to the quality of mom and pop shops. Has a diner feel that's very cozy. One time I even waited and had a full 20 minute conversation with Georgia when I even walked in and ordered on the spot. I haven't been for breakfast or lunch but I'm sure they won't disappoint!

I'm a huge fan of their soups, whether it be the chicken noodle, split pea, broccoli and cheese, or my personal favorite their lentil soup. The grape leaves are also a personal fav and I'm always ordering for pick up because it's on the way home and their always fast with my orders. Sometimes it gets really busy and you have to play phone tag to reach them, but that's ok, their worth the call back a few times before getting through. Highly recommend if you're in the area. The gyros and/or platter is also very good, my husband gets it all the time, just be sure to ask for the fries extra crispy, because then they're perfect.

Food was average diner food, nothing to write home about. 1 pm and there was a maximum of 15 customers in the entire restaurant. We were a party of 5 and were seated at a table for 6. The back room was empty except for 2 other patrons. I asked the owner/manager if we could move to a larger table in the back. His dry answer was Thats a table for 7. I asked him if he's expecting a party of 7 soon and he said no but they could come in. The rudest most unwelcoming answer. Then our waiter came and he was taking the order with complete annoyance and shortness. To the point where one of us asked if he was having a bad day. He replied no this is my job. Very unacceptable way to treat paying customers. As I was paying my bill, I sarcastically asked the owner/manager where his party of 7 were. His response was next time you come with 7 people, I'll Seat you there. Ans I said I DONT THINK SO! I also later found out, when the first person showed up they refused to seat her. (In the empty restaurant) inti Everyone showed up!!! The nerve. They were lucky they even had is as customers!! I don't know what their problem was as we were very polite and respectable. So they were just rude and didn't care for repeat customers or were anti muslim as some of the women in my party were obviously Muslim. NO WONDER THE RESTAURANT WAS ALMOST EMPTY AT LUNCHTIME!!! GOOD RIDDANCE to bad service!

After reading the reviews, I wanted to give this place a try. We came here for lunch and managed to…read morefind parking right in the front of the diner, just like in the movies! LOL. We were immediately seated after arriving. The diner is medium in size, with the seats in the front being booths that seat 3-4 guests at a time. However, the booths in the very middle are elevated, so guests need to take a step before sitting. The place follows a light brown color scheme, though the booth cushions are a reddish-burgundy color. Coffee beans sit on a mounted shelf on the wall and mirrors covered in artwork adorn the walls near the front. Regular tables can be seen near the back and counter seating is available as well. We ordered the following: Daughter ordered the Bleu Cheese Burger with tomato and onion and potatoes. She ordered it rare and was disappointed because it came out medium well to well done and it was hard to chew. It's funny how when you order it rare and get it well done! I figure it's because they're worried about cooking it rare and they don't trust their meat. So, she didn't feel like returning it back. It's not the first time and it won't be the last. The burger came with fries and that wasn't expected because the menu said that it came with potatoes. If she knew that she was going to get fries, she said that she would've gotten it well done. Hubs got the Red Bank Diner Omelette with grits and multigrain bread. The omelette came with roasted red peppers, mushrooms, avocado and Swiss cheese. Daughter thought the grits were good. Hubs thought it was nice to see grits for a change but it was a little under seasoned. He liked the mix of vegetables in the omelette but thought it was overcooked and tough. Lastly, I ordered the 2 eggs over easy with English muffin and liked it. This was ok. Service was quick and friendly. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and glad that we got a chance to try to this place!

The New Monmouth Diner (NMD) consistently outperforms when it comes to food quality, freshness,…read moretaste and presentation! On top of that, the diner is always busy and the well organized and efficient management team as well as the kitchen and waitstaff teams keep the "customer experience" moving at a calm and reasonable pace! We have never waited more than 10 minutes for a table. Their menus are unlike the usual New Jersey diner menus which are very similar with voluminous pages of every imaginable food category and style. This type of menu requires most items to be delivered to the restaurant packaged frozen (NOT FRESH) and prepared for serving! As a retired food service professional, I've noticed that over years, NMD has perfected their menu to ensure freshness by offering a curated selection of customer favorites and Daily Specials with many specials including soup OR salad and small desert like ice cream or pudding. Next time you are in the area or on your way to or from The Jersey Shore. We highly recommend NMD!
