I absolutely loove the food from Peri Peri Grill house. I found it on a random walk one afternoon…read moreand when visiting a friend in that part of brooklyn. Seeing "peri" in the name made me curious so I had to give it a try. It's a small restaurant which can seat no more than 10 people. The person taking my order was so polite and patience. He took his time with me as I looked at the menu and asked many questions about the sauces. I settled for the Jerked wings and peri peri rice. What really blew me away was the rice! It's a spicy seasoned rice with south African spices. The chicken wings were okay and when dipped in the garlic sauce it was great. After eating that meal, I immediately went back and placed another order for my mom so she could try it. My fav thing on the menu is the jerked chicken breast and peri peri rice. Its a great, clean meal to have on the go.

I had a chicken wrap which was swimming in the peri peri sauce, so much so the lettuce in the wrap was a soggy mess. The sauce wasn't hot at all and I believe I ordered a sauce that was supposed to have some heat. There also wasn't much chicken in my chicken wrap but there was a ton of sauce. Did I say there was a lot of sauce in my chicken wrap? The best part of my meal was the peri peri fries....the fries definitely made me think of Nando's. I'd go back for the fries alone.

Lesson learned: if you're going with a group, make sure you have your final number when making the reservation because adding someone later may not be possible. We started with the Mezzi Filistini, a mixed platter of babaganoush, muhammara, tabbouleh, salata, tahini and labneh. This was very good, and we tackled it with zest, devouring it with the accompanying pita bread. We also ordered the falafel, chicken shawarma platter and beef kebab platter. The chicken shawarma was decent, but I would have loved more chicken and bigger pieces. There was considerably more rice than chicken, which made the platter feel a little unbalanced. The beef kebab was better, with a good portion of meat and rice, and the accompanying vegetables weren't too bad either. One disappointment for me was the lack of a proper hot sauce. Something with a little heat and flavor would have paired really well with both the shawarma and kebab and, for me, would have elevated the meal. Overall, the food was good and the ambiance was pleasant. Service was also good for the most part, although I was disappointed that we weren't asked if we were interested in dessert before wrapping up the meal. Al Badawi is probably a place I would try again, but not one I'm in a rush to return to anytime soon.

Gosht means "meat" in Persian, and this halal restaurant offers Josper-grilled steaks, burgers, and a range of regional dishes. It's in a heavily Russian-speaking area, and the staff is typically bilingual. The restaurant is well set up for families. It has a nifty little indoor play area and offers children's activities, including a "make your own burger" event. The burgers are precooked, so it's really an assemble your own burger activity. The instructions were entirely in Russian, requiring some of the children at our table to learn by watching. That aside, they all seemed to enjoy it, and some even ate their burgers and fries. We sampled fried pelmeni, bone marrow, the GOSHT Salad, lamb chops, and the GOSHT cheeseburger. The crispy pelmeni dipped in sour cream were delicious. I could have eaten an entire plate. The salad was also very good, with tasty, tender roast beef. The lamb chops were a bit salty but flavorful and very tender. And I also liked the fries which accompanied our burgers, they were hot and crunchy. The cheeseburgers were mediocre, and I wouldn't order one again. I didn't care for the bone marrow either, though others at the table enjoyed it. The supervised play area was a big hit and kept the children cheerfully occupied. There was enough toddler energy in there to power a city. Overall, Gosht is a very good choice for a family meal with young children, especially if you order the pelmeni.

I tried went with the Gosht burger and Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I ordered the strawberry mojito for a beverage choice. It was sweet with alittle bit of strawberry taste. The burger was great though alittle small. I enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and the grilled chicken cutlets were soft. Overall, a decent meal. Definitely a nice place to patronize for a nice meal.

The staff member who took my order warned me that it would be spicy, but I thought it was quite manageable (or perhaps she made it non-spicy) but overall I thought the flavor was quite bold and the bite-sized lamb made it easy to scoop up with the bread. The restaurant space is fairly large so I'd like to return for sit-down service and to try more Yemeni specialties.

There are plentiful tables and even a downstairs special event space. Plus, the bathrooms are very clean so you know this is a quality place. Food: 5/5. Huge portions! You can easily feed two people with an entree. We had the Fahsah Chicken in a hot clay pot...so good! It had a plethora of spices and herbs but was not too spicy. And the shwarma was the best we have had in Brooklyn! Ambiance: 4/5. Clean and tidy, they have alot of Yemeni decorations and clay pots that add to the authentic vibe. The doors have a slight draft so it was a tad chilly but nothing too harsh. Overall a lovely spot Value: 5/5. Huge portions of quality food, great service and extra bread. We loved it!
