About 30 minutes later, Joe texted to say he would call at 2:00 -- and he did! We arranged an onsite estimate, and from the moment I met Joe, I was impressed. He listened to what I was trying to accomplish, answered all of my questions, explained my options, and made me feel both heard and informed. He also had a newer team member with him whom he was training, and I was equally impressed by the patience and care he showed in teaching him. I received three bids for my attic insulation project, and I chose SDI hands down because of my experience with Joe. From there, Alfredo was terrific to work with. He worked with my schedule to find a day that worked for me and was incredibly easy to reach by phone or text whenever I had a question or needed to confirm details. On installation day, Sergio, David and Miguel were fantastic. They arrived, got everything set up and went right to work. They were careful with my home, incredibly thorough, and when I had questions, Sergio took the time to come down, talk with me and then personally went into the attic and took a video so I could see the completed work. And when they were finished -- no muss, no fuss. Everything was cleaned up beautifully. They even touched up the paint around the attic access where they had been working. Other than having a newly insulated attic, you wouldn't have known a crew had been working in my home all day. The entire SDI team -- from Emily and Joe, to Alfredo, to Sergio, David and Miguel -- was responsive, professional, knowledgeable and genuinely pleasant to work with. Our house had ducts already installed, though the distribution of air was not balanced - some rooms got uncomfortably warm than others. - How was your experience with the initial inspection process? Amongst many other contractors, I found Maddie from Premier Eco Builders very genuine and honest about what needs to be done. He also did not try to oversell me things just to increase the quote. I never felt the push to add something I did not want. Maddie also helped address the specific problems that I was encountering with the existing system. - How did the team handle scheduling? The team started the work on time. The proposed timeline was 2 days of work. However, due to unforseen problems in the old system, it took a day longer. Maddie's team could have cut corners and sacrificed quality to still finish the job in 2 days. But they chose to do quality work. They even fixed issues that were not part of the contract to maintain the quality of the final system. - How did everything turn out after the installation? The system worked well. However, there were still some adjustments to be made. Maddie made sure to fix these issues as well over the coming weeks. His team came over on a weekend to fix all issues and answer all final questions of no charge. So much so that it gave me the confidence to buy my first home without A/C because I knew I could just call Calvey. A few years later I did just that. Damn, it's been a couple of months now and I've been able to control the climate of my entire house from my phone, optimizing the temperature and sometimes making it as low as 66F to just enjoy the air being crisp. The install has been fantastic quality and the crew listened to everything I wanted every step of the way. They mounted rat spikes where I wanted, they put the lines and the units exactly where I asked and I've had no issues at all. I truly believe with home price comparisons in my area that I made money off of the install because it increased my home value. I cannot recommend the team at GreenShield Insulation and the owner, Ahmad, highly enough…read more Unlike several other contractors who either quoted me over the phone or barely looked into the attic, Ahmad personally came to my home, thoroughly inspected the damage caused by rodents, and provided a very fair and honest estimate. This project was unusually complex and took nearly four months to complete. The process involved rodent exclusion, removal of decades of accumulated insulation, asbestos abatement, attic sanitization, installation of new ductwork, and finally new insulation. Throughout every stage, Ahmad remained involved, checking in regularly and making sure everything was progressing. A special thank you to Dave and Eddie, who removed the old insulation and installed the new material. What appeared to be a straightforward job of insulation removal, turned out to involve three layers of different insulation materials dating back to the 1950s. Despite the unexpected workload and physical demands, they never complained. They remained cheerful, professional, respectful, and hardworking throughout the entire process. As a senior citizen who carefully researches major home repairs, I greatly appreciated Ahmad's patience in answering my many questions. He was consistently kind, knowledgeable, honest, and professional. Unfortunately, not every contractor I met during this project demonstrated those qualities. They thoroughly explained their recommendations and patiently broke down why batting insulation wasn't the right fit for our home. They also offered wall insulation which was what we were also looking for as our south facing walls always felt warm to the touch in the summer. We ended up hiring them, and they completed the entire job in just a few hours. I wanted to wait a few weeks before writing this, and I can now confidently say they did a fantastic job! The house feels significantly cooler and much less humid. (Keep in mind we had zero insulation before, so results might vary if you already have some old insulation). We'll see how it holds up this winter, but for now, I highly recommend them. To top it off, they gave us the most affordable quote by far--and it included the wall insulation, whereas other companies charged more just for the attic!
