Their design/build capabilities, broad experience and portfolio of completed projects are all very impressive. We were considering various approaches to a bedroom/bathroom remodel, and Sorin and his team walked us through multiple possibilities, listened carefully to our feedback, and set us on a path that matched our needs precisely. They also provided us with a lot of insight into the steps need to take the project from start to finish, and all of this was reflected in a very thorough bid. Sorin's communication, promptness, and follow-through have all been exemplary. We'd be glad to work with Sorin on any other projects in the future.

From start to finish, their team was on point, paying attention to every tiny detail like they were crafting a masterpiece. They made the whole process way less stressful, even guiding us through material selection at multiple showrooms (because, of course, we couldn't find everything in one place). Luckily, with Sorin's help, it all went smoothly--no meltdowns, no decision fatigue... okay, maybe just a little. Their crew? Absolute pros. They showed up on time every day (which is basically a miracle in construction) and left the place spotless, like bathroom remodeling ninjas. Honestly, these guys know their stuff. If you're thinking about a home remodel, stop thinking and call them. In fact, we're already planning our next project with them--because once you start with Feraru & Associates, it's hard to stop!

Prime Design & Build - Amazing bathroom

Overall the experience was very good; Elijah and Bryan were super friendly and responsive. Eli was very patient and accommodating as we discussed several different potential change orders, from new windows to painting, to other misc. things that popped up. Bryan Luna was especially a pleasure to work with. His attention to detail and proactivity to solve any little thing I mentioned was definitely the highlight of working with Prime. Their contracted electrician, Hector, was great as well. I also think they did a great job building out a cabinet to fit our freezer next to the matching fridge. Their master carpenter managed to salvage our existing wood to make it match perfectly. Definitely better than what I'd expect from even a carpentry specialty contractor. I will mention that it wasn't without some snags. Prime deals in volume so they're very busy. I think because I had delays in sourcing a freezer I ended up not getting a dedicated project manager for some time. We had timeline issues made worse with holidays. This caused cascading delays which inevitably pushed back my move in date a few weeks. When I finally did get a new project manager, they ghosted me (later on I found out they had a family emergency). Eli had to step in again to help. Another thing is that their pricing is quite opaque. The estimate will break down prices by milestones, but they repeated told me that it's not a valuation of the milestone itself. This made it nigh impossible to understand if I wanted to contract out specific pieces of the project (e.g. flooring). Design was OK. I felt that the designer was very busy. Sometimes very responsive (5min replies), sometimes not responsive at all (no reply). I wish I had a better, more thorough back-and-forth session about the intricacies of the design. But we made do. Ultimately, the designer made a render and helped point us to some vendors, but from there we had to make our own selection alone (cabinets, handles, pendant lights, faucets, etc.). I did appreciate her presence when we picked out countertops, though. All in all, I think this was a 4.5 star job, but I'm rounding to 5 because of Eli and Bryan :)

Overall, the project went well, and we're happy with the final results. Bryan, our foreman, was a strong asset to the project. Even though he was managing multiple jobs at the same time, his responsiveness and willingness to go out of his way to address our concerns made a big difference. Because we were home throughout the process, we were able to catch issues early and communicate them directly to Bryan, who consistently followed through to resolve them. What Went Well: * The tile and flooring subcontractors were excellent - their craftsmanship and attention to detail truly stood out. * Bryan, our foreman, was responsive to texts and phone calls, listened to our concerns, and made sure they were addressed. He even designed a bi-fold closet door for us, and helped pick up all the material to build it. * Bryan also took the initiative to handle several unfinished items himself, which we really appreciated. * The post-build cleaners were top-notch and left the space in pristine condition. * Throughout the project, everyone we interacted with was professional, courteous, and conscientious. There were no conflicts or issues, which made the experience comfortable for us. Areas for Improvement: * The timeline was a pain point. While we were originally told the project would take 6-8 weeks, it ended up stretching to 12 weeks. * The design process fell short of expectations. Because Prime's in-house designers weren't available, our design work was outsourced. We only received a full design package for the master bathroom. As a result, we ended up creating our own renderings for the other rooms to help communicate our vision to the team. That said, we were very happy with the design and material selections for the master bathroom they did complete. We just wish the same level of attention and design support had been provided for the rest of the project. * At times, resource availability was limited, likely due to workers being assigned to multiple jobs. This led to workflow inefficiencies and delays. Toward the end of our renovation, our foreman Bryan had to personally step in to complete several tasks, such as installing faucets, shelving, and baseboards. He managed to get it done in between site visits and meetings, which we appreciated, but it also highlighted a lack of available crew to close out the project. Despite these few challenges, the quality of the work met our expectations. We appreciated the team's effort and the final outcome.

I found Whiteside Construction because my sister works at UCSF hospital, and I saw that they had done the concrete pour and a lot of other construction work for that job. See pictures to highlight the beautiful work they did on that job which made me hire them as well. I am overjoyed with the results on my job, and everything was done absolutely top notch. I know they do a lot of work in Marin, East Bay, South Bay, and just generally the Bay Area so do not hesitate to hire them if you're around this area. When our original contractor fell through, our structural engineer referred us to Whiteside Construction team, and for that we are eternally grateful. As was the case with another reviewer, from the moment we met him, we were won over by his authenticity and the sound advice he gave us based on his years of experience. It seems like everyone who's ever re-modeled has horror stories about their contractor - except us.. because of Whiteside Construction's amazing quality, respectful demeanor, and ability to get the job done. In addition to a number of miscellaneous projects, Dave's crew handled a lot of work to the house and a completion of concrete stairs. Whiteside completed the first phase of a remodel for our home as well as the seismic retrofitting for the house. We could not be more pleased. Dave was easy to work with, knowledgeable, prompt, and reasonably priced. His attention to detail and professionalism were second to none. He communicated with us promptly about the decisions that needed to be made, and offered helpful suggestions without pressuring us. He answered our questions and concerns honestly. We finished on budget and ahead of schedule. His crew was considerate and fast. I would highly recommend Whiteside to family and friends.

Initially Alex Minaboo, the owner, came to look the job over and in that visit recommended replacing all the heating ducts in the house. He tried to sell me a heat pump system which I did not want to do since the existing furnace is only three years old. There was nothing in the home energy assessment report indicating I needed to replace the furnace or the ducts. A few weeks later, the foreman (I think that is his role) came by to assess the job, and said he did not think the ducts needed to be replaced as they were still quite new. I opted to not replace the ducts but to proceed with the air sealing of the heating system that was recommended in the home energy assessment. Alex later said the air sealing could cause a problem for the furnace, which he said was too large for this size house. He suggested that adding an additional heat register might mitigate a potential problem with rapid cycling, and I opted to do this. In the course of All Things Good sealing the heating ducts and adding the new register, the blower on the furnace stopped working. Alex deflected and denied responsibility for his company causing the problem, disparaged another company that had installed the furnace, and argued that his company could not be held responsible for damages when something breaks in an old house while they are working on it, referring me to a clause in their contract. To fix the furnace, All Things Good charged $1200.00 in labor costs (for a job that took no more than 2 hours on site) and the blower was about $700 more). I have always thought "if you break it, you fix it" and I was floored by how this was being handled, but since I do not know HVAC systems and could not in good conscience argue that I was certain the breakdown was caused by their work, I proposed we split the bill for fixing the furnace. My offer was refused. Alex then had the gall to argue he was already giving me a discount on labor costs, and threatened that if I did not pay he would put a lien on my house. I paid the bill because it was not worth my time to fight with All Things Good. I see a number of positive reviews here and at least one that is like mine. My experience was very unsatisfactory and I will certainly never use this company again.

When I finally got them to agree to an end of December date, it then turned out that they didn't have the permit in time. So then they encouraged me to break the law and let them start to work without a permit. When I said I didn't want to do anything illegal and I didn't want to proceed if it was then going to cost thousands of extra dollars because they couldn't get it done when they said they would, they then terminated the contract and said they were going to send me a bill for $800 and sue me if I didn't pay I did not have a great experience with this company
