I've honestly never in my life written a bad review because I usually let bad service slide, we all make mistakes right!? Well, bp at 5150 w 98th st. In Bloomington has not only given me the worst service I've ever received, I went out of my way to open this yelp account solely for the purpose to warn others not to use their services. I currently have 2 years sobriety after a dwi conviction and finally received my driving privileges back, but only under the condition I have in interlock ignition installed. I decided to use BP because it's close to my place, plus I've been getting gas and other items there for years. The mechanics not only installed my Interlock mechanism incorrectly, they told my father and me that my starter was bad (when really it was their faulty interlock installation that was making my car not start). I was weary and told them that I had NO problems starting my car prior to their installation process, but they just said "I don't know what to tell you maam, your starter is bad." My father trusted them and asked if he could purchase a starter from car quest since it would save us money, they said fine (even though they were obviously not happy to lose out on the extra cash). So, my dad had to check my engine to see how many cylinders it was etc. in order to obtain the correct starter, but when I went to open my hood I had no hood release?! Matter of fact I noticed that there were tons of wires hanging under my steering wheel; it was a mess. So, I brought it up to the station, a day before they put the starter in, to have them fix my hood release so I could get it open (Note: I needed an oil change but couldn't get one due to this). The mechanic says "well I can't reach the part with this tool. But, yeah, oops I did put this on backwards." He even had the audacity to blame it on multi-tasking with customers in his shop, but I said that I would just leave and he could fix it when he put the starter in during our appointment the following day. After they worked on my car for several hours, my father called me shortly after, sounding defeated and unhappy. He told me the mechanics called and said that the starter we provided was defective/bad also. My father said "I told them that seem pretty strange" and they responded saying 'I don't like that you're insinuating I'm a liar'. When my dad told me that I was absolutely livid!! At this point I knew they were just bamboozling us; we were now stuck in a situation where not only our car was in the hands of people we do not trust and have no compassion for our situation, but we had to use their parts and now the price went from installing a starter for $100.00 to "taking an extra two hours to put the 'defective' starter in and also install another, so now the price is $368.50. I told them that I wanted both starters so I could have them tested and confirm they were both bad. When I came to pick up the car I just knew that it would be more expensive than quoted, and it was 50 more for the core charge. I was humiliated and angry, so I raised my voice at the owner/manager/mechanic and he said "if you'd shut your damn mouth for a second I can explain the charge." At this point, a good mechanic would have said, take it and test it, if it's good I won't charge the $50 extra core, if it's bad I will charge the card. Put it this way I had to call the police because these men were so guilty of doing horrible things to my automobile and they told me they never wanted to see me again and just want me and my "evil car" off the premises. So the officer came and he was very nice and told me that their wasn't much he could do, but recommended writing a review and contacting the better business bureau. I started my car to finally leave and hopefully never have to see these men again, but wouldn't ya know when I got home and shut off my car, once I got back in to leave somewhere, IT Would Not Start!! They towed my car back to the shop and after working on it all day they said it was the battery and that my dad would have to bring one up, otherwise they would charge us more money (note: that we had them test the battery prior to car being touched and he said it was "fine")! So my dad told me to take a bus back up their and immediately remove the car from their services because they would leave it running with the keys in it. Well, when I got there they were still in the shop with it, when I walked up to assess the situation they both were at a loss for words, but then became rude and even called me names. In conclusion, I had the starter tested and it was good (not bad as they claimed) and it showed that these two put it in wrong. Plus another shop said their installation of my interlock was a safety/melting hazard (wires over the engine) the laziest installation he's ever seen. I took pictures and have proof of this madness as well. I cannot believe these two men they have no empathy, care, or concern for what they have done or how they've treated us as customers. read more
